Hi! Don't know why my R doesn't recognize the USB drivers. I've tried with all drivers and nothing works. So I'm looking for an alternative way instead of using Odin to install CWM recovery and flash a custom ROM.
Is it possible?

Its being asked before. Just make an update file and flash it using stock recovery.
Or
Just install Kies-> reboot PC
Start task manager-> kill all KiES related styff
Connect usb to PC but this time put it in backward of PC i.e. where u have all power and usb options.
I think ur device will b located by PC.

Thanks, I will try the first method as the second method is not possible because post #1
I guess that I need to use a special update.zip to flash a CMW recovery or can I use whichever CMW zip?
BTW I did a search before posting and all thread I found were related to another devices, so I tried in this section. Apologizes anyway.

Sorry about the double post, but I don't know how to make an update file with CWM Recovery. I've found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1721680
But I'm afraid I don't know how to apply it. AFAIK the CWM usually comes on a *.img format, at least is what I have here on my HD and I'm not sure if I can make it a flasheable update.zip.
I've tried to find a CWM Recovery in a update.zip also, but I've found nothing. Could someone please link me to another one?
You can try through heimdall (if you are comfortable with linux)
There are linux live CDs are available, which you can boot without installing. If you are comfortable with linux, then you can try flashing the recovery imagle through heimdall. I installed expylon CWM recovery this way from the Cyanogenmod wiki for installing CM 10.1 on SGR
wiki dot cyanogenmod dot org/w/Install_CM_for_i9103 (replace " dot " with ".")
Thanks rbanavara! That could work, I have no problem with linux

once done you can use fastboot and adb from installation folder to push any rom to your phone.

I do not know where the files are and frankly the proper way to use Odin. But I have seen it discussed on these forums before and also pretty certain there are tutorials on YouTube. Chances are it won't work anyways. Seems most post i have seen about this subject have not been resolved
easy way to setup fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474895
thnks a lot guys.i'll try these ones for sure.will let u knw results soon.
Whoa whoa whoa, why the Odin so soon?
Make sure Clockworkmod Recovery is up to date first, flash the latest version using fastboot.
Then see if you can mount the USB storage in CWM Recovery.
Make sure the adb drivers are properly installed, that's a pre-requisite to flashing CWM using fastboot. You can use the PDA Net drivers, which always served me right. If you see that exclamation mark, your device isn't properly installed, hence the inability to use fastboot.
actually i cant flash anything.not recovery.no rom.nothing.while flashing it says 'failed. bootloader locked.try fastboot oem unlockbut when i tried tht my fone ahngs on unlock bootloader? screen.i waited like an hour but nothing.then i hv to take out battery and try again.but didnt worked.

I wanted to try that but it looks like your phone needs to be turned on completely. Cannot do that because it hangs at the loading screen. Probably the same for TS.
I'm willing to bet your internal mem has failed. Nothing short of Samsung warranty repair will fix this.

I want to install Cyanogenmod on my i5801 running froyo. Looking for a simple & clean method.
After hours of surfing, I have reached these two tutorials:
android.gs / update-galaxy-3-i5801-apollo-cyanogenmod-7-2
newtechie . com / 2012 / 01 / how-to-install-cyanogenmod-7-on-samsung.html
Which one is the recommended way? During my search, I learnt of something called Clockworkmod. Is there any need to first have CWM on my phone? Are there any prerequisites (other than mentioned in the tutorials) that need to be taken care of.
During the learning process, I have already rooted the phone using Super One Click, v 1.7.
Please help.
Click in this link > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372414.
This is the tutorial for how to install any ROM on our phone.
If you have already rooted your phone, flashing cm is not very complicated.
just follow simple steps
1.download the cm7 odin package
2. download odin package for i5800 with ops file
3. open odin ..choose ops file
4. click 'one package' option
5. select cm7 tar package.
6. start phone in download mode pressing power, home and vol down together.
7. connect usb cable ...odin will show yellow color in one port
8. start upload and wait until reboot
9. wipe data factory setting while still connected with usb and pc
10. wait until odin says 'pass' with yellow turning blue.
11. disconnect usb and use cm7.

It's not a must but if anything does go to then it comes in handy because you can just restore the backup.
To get Cwm you can root your phone using superoneclick the flashing g3mod 2.5 kernel.
Press thanks if i helped.

I'm preparing myself to do CM7 flashing. I've already done single-click rooting using superoneclick, but my friend advised me not to use single click rooting which he says is bit unsafe. Instead he said that I should unroot the system and root it via the terminal method. Is my friend correct?
just flash a custom Rom and there is no need to mess about rooting your phone.

my RK3066 got problem to use USB debugging, I can install driver successfully by just adding my USB VID and PID into android_winusb.inf but "adb devices" cannot find it. I tried adb from ADK or embedded in some app, but only using this one can find my device.

I always can use any adb in recovery mode.
but only by using your link, now I can adb using USB debugging. Thanks.
Anyway, I found that it is not easy to flash recovery for unsupported device. I want to try CWM or 4Ext Recovery but they support only most popular devices by auto detect and one click flash. I tried to find the way to suite CWM or any recovery binary into a custom devices but seems no easy or general idea + require linux machine. Some said flash will overwrite /recovery but sometimes they copy somethings to /system if I check the recovery.img source. Normally there are boot, system and data partition but where recovery binaries located is still unclear to me. I am thinking I might need to resize partition on device originally without recovery.
Are you able to flash CWM in your device? How is that possible?

yes i had flashed CWM on my device
in bootloader mode (guide is given)
the CWM i had flashed just replace the recovery ramdisk and your original kernel will be same
so you can try it
there is enough space on rk3066 (16 MB for boot and recovery so you dont need to do anything)

Recovery Mode doesn't need root to function. Try the Universal GB Root package and tell me what happens, a bit more information would be helpful, like, if an error shows, or something like that...
EDIT: OH! I just realized what is happening! You are using CWM with a Stock ROM that you want to root, right? Well, CWM does NOT support .EFS file systems. It can't mount the /system/ partition to write on it. When you install a custom ROM with it, it re-formats the system partition to EXT4. So, you can't use both a Stock ROM and CWM. They do not support each other. You need to flash a custom ROM. Or use the Stock Recovery to flash the Root Zip.

Hi @koukis32
Dnt wry Bro ur cell is just fine please download the Firmware pages that you want to flash from the link below by entering your phone model number or i shall also paste link where in you can download the package directly also.
You can find the required ODIN Firmware Package as you wish for the ODIN tool
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/ and put in the Device Model Number and download it
or complete Firmware Package of Gingerbread 2.3.6 DDKT3 you can find the link below
http://hotfile.com/dl/146050815/b3b9...2_INU.zip.html in case this link doesn't work please download the Packages from above link as I can't check it from my office so dntmnd
For ODIN Flashing Tool:
http://www.downloads.techdiscussion....ting-software/
and Procedure to Flash is:
- Shutdown Galaxy Fit and restart it in Recovery Mode. For that hold the volume down key + Home key and power key. Hold it for some seconds and leave it. The device will boot in recovery mode. When the yellow triangle, connect cell phone and a computer with a USB cable.
- Launch ODIN on your system. In that look under ID:COM section. The section will turn to yellow once the device is connected and detected.
- Now click on OPS. It will ask you to browse the downloaded firmware package. Browse to GIO_1.0.ops. Once it is selected click on One Package and choose S5670DDKT3_S5670ODDKT2_S5670DDKT2_HOME.tar.md5.
- Now click on Start. The update process has started and it will take few minutes to complete.
- Once it is done, the device will reboot itself. Later on you can go in Settings and checkout the firmware version.
And considering still you still in Galaxy Fit Page then go take a break and relax and follow the instructions in the link which I have shared you phone will come back to life.

Easiest way... is to use Odin with the proper CWM image file made for that particular phone.
There are many guides for this in these forums.
Get Odin, Install Odin (program for your PC)
Get CWM image file usable in Odin
Put phone into Debug over USB Mode.
Put phone into Download mode plugged into Odin
Flash CWM recovery from Odin to Phone.
Now phone would not be rooted yet.
To root phone, install a rooted Rom using CWM, or flash the/a Super User file using CWM, then your stock ROM will be rooted.
This is just a general list of what is entailed to setup a 3rd Party Recover, and Root device.. as said there are many guides on these forums that will be more detailed.. just use the search.
Hope this helps you find your way.
I am affraid not.

No root is not required for Odin, this is basically how I started to eventually root my phone.
I used Odin to install custom recovery on non-rooted phone.
Then using the custom recovery, installed superuser app to provide root access.
This is the YouTube video that help me along my way: http://youtu.be/6S5Lw7uxdtU
I'm sure you're running a different phone, but this may lead you to find instructions for using Odin, getting into Download Mode, and installing a custom recovery on your phone.
I did alot of reading, research, and forum browsing before feeling comfortable enough to do this... but once done, it gets easy.
