Hi guys,
I realized the MAIL app does not support "send mail as" from another email address.
I already set up both gmail and hotmail to have "send mail as" and both are working on web based mail by browser but it won't work on Surface RT Mail app. The email will have a sender of [email protected] or [email protected] instead of my "send mail as" address.
If anyone has a solution please let me know!!!
You'll probably have to wait until Google releases a Gmail app.
The built-in Windows Mail is a sad shadow of the functionality that the program of the same name had in Vista. The addition of ActiveSync support is great, of course, but they ripped out entirely too much other stuff. The damn thing doesn't even have the capability to send Plain Text email; try responding to a plain text email and it will got forcibly converted to HTML for you (this makes it unusable with some clients and services...)

Add the specific account and do not synchronise mail. that works for me. It shows up at the Send option and will send via the server specified.

Hi, there's a drop down on the top left which allows you to select the desired mail account. I have three set up and it seems to work fine. Or, are you looking to "send mail as" and use one SMTP mail server so all sent mail shows up on a particular web account?
Hope that helps!

Which they won't. Google explicitly said that they will not be developing anymore for Windows 8. They said that this might change however, if the platform becomes wildly successful.

I am using the default email software supplied with WM6 on my TMobile Wing to check my Gmail account. I didn't want to have an extra Java app installed just to check Gmail, as I am really low on program space.
I like how it works, except for one little thing - when I get my mail, it also downloads emails that I have SENT and puts them into my Inbox as if I had received it, or sent it to myself. How do I stop this? Is there any way to make the software stop downloading from the Sent folder on Gmail?
Thanks!
Are you using POP to access your gmail? In the POP settings on your gmail site you can create a filter to control which email is downloaded via POP, so you could probably create a filter which excludes sent email
Yep, POP3 access.
That sounds like just what I need. I'll check out the Gmail FAQ and see what I can find.
Thanks!

Ok I didn't see anything to fix that in the Gmail settings or FAQ. Blah. I may just access it via the webpage. I liked having the poutlook do it though. Oh well.
Hmm use EMOZE

You can easily create POP3 account in WM5 or WM6 and manually do send receive or you can setup intervals which pocket outlook will access your Gmail account. In fact in pocket outlook when you create new pop email account for Gmail the setting will be made automatically. You simply need to enter your email address and password
Anyhow before doing above you need to enable POP3 in Gmail Web.
acces your web gmail --> go to settings and enable the POP3 access. Under settings there is also a tab for email filtering in which you can define which mails should be forward to POP3
Furthermore If you wan to have push mail, you can apply for free http://mail2web.com account. It is free MS exchange service. Forward your Gmail's to your mail2web account and it will push it to your device. (it functions perfectly)
I think you guys are misunderstanding my problem.
I have it sending/receiving manually, and it works just fine.
The problem is if I send a message at home on my computer, then I get my Wing and access my mail, it downloads the message I sent from my sent folder onto my phone, as if it were in my inbox.
What exactly is "pushing" btw?

RVM,
as I mentioned go to settings in your gmail web account there is the tab of filters. Then create a filter with your email
i.e:
from : [email protected]
Pushmail is similar to blackberry email, email that comes to your inbox will be pushed (send) to your hand device. You save manualy checking your inbox.
That's what I did. I went into filters and there was no option to have it not allow the sent mail to be downloaded via a POP3 client. I may have missed something so I will go have another look.

Hi,
I am using Pocket Outlook, which I have synchronising with my Exchange server, on Windows Mobile 6.1 Prof (Touch HD).
I need to be able to send email from two different email addresses (i.e. change the "FROM" field). I can't see a way to do this in Pocket Outlook. Would be grateful if someone could tell me how; I can't imagine such a straightforward feature has been omitted? I can do this fine within normal Outlook, connected to the same Exchange account.
Ideally, it would automatically select the correct address when I am replying to a message so that it matches the address to which the originally message was sent. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Richard.
Hi RIchard,
You can indees send from any account you wish. On you message tab on touchflo, select the account you want to send from, then just press the new message tab next to the envelope. Or go into inbox from any account, selct the account you want to send from, then menu and new message
btw, the touch hd is so tasty!! yh?

I dont get what your problem is? I have my main email via Exchange and 2 addtional pop 3 mail accounts. On the home message tab it shows 3 envelopes on the right hand side of the screen, one for each account. If i want to send an email from a pop3 account, i just press the envelope and it will send an email from that account?!?
You cannot sync email via active sync if you have an exchange mail set up, but that is your only limitation, as far as i know....

Hi,
I think that the problem is as follows (well at least I have this problem )
I use google sync to give me push mail and forward my company email to google (to get it pushed).
If I reply to this email on my PPC (from the outlook mail account) then the recipient will see the reply coming from the google address rather than my company address.
So, I need to reply to the mail on PPC using my Outlook account to get the original subject and the original mail and then change the "from" field on the email to send from my company account (also setup on the phone).
Even a registry hack would do; to always send from the company account when in the Outlook exchange account.
I've done a lot of searching and found no solution to this.
In need of help !
I need to find a way to save Emails on an Android phone, no Email client will do that so far as I can find?
My ISP is POP3 ONLY and I'm unwilling to change my email address so don't say use IMAP or Gmail.
I have no problem saving messages on my BB or on a WinMo phone, why can't Android's email client do that? BB has a 'save' option on the email menu which moves the mail to a Saved folder, WinMo allows me to create a Saved folder and move email to it which remains after it's deleted on the server, exactly the same as any email client on a PC so why does Android not allow anything similar?
NOTE: I've set my PC's email client to delete message from the server when they're downloaded, that's not going to change, there has to be a way for the Android device to do that or must I go back to WinMo or BlackBerry because of this one ridiculous failure of the Android OS?
Not sure i'm seeing the problem here. If you want to save your emails just don't delete them?
Same for me. I'd love to be able to make email folders so I can organize the accumulated emails. Having all emails in the inbox just doesn't work and is a pain in the ass.

I believe you're correct, I'm currently back on my BlackBerry as one solution to the problem.
you could try opening a gmail account, sync with your pop3 account and dont tell anyone your new e-mail address
What Robbie said. You can have emails forwarded to your GMail?
Check out K-9 mail. The native email client that comes with android blows- it's bare bones and it's meant to be that way. The phone and the OS is designed to use gmail as your main email. Although a gmail account is my main email, i also have to use some other email account and the native android email app does't cut it for me. K-9 has an archive feature which will create a local folder and save a copy of that email. I am using IMAP and haven't setup anything with pop3, but give it a try and see if this app works for you.

Now that people are getting their new phones I would like to know if Sense 3.0 has any improvements in the email application, specifically when using IMAP.
Firstly I would like to know if the email app now supports IMAP IDLE, which may be listed as Push.
Also I would like to know if you can have multiple "From" addresses per mailbox so that I can choose who to reply as.
Lastly I would like to know if you can have an auto BCC for each mailbox.
Thanks.
I guess I asked too soon.
Bumping.

Just a quick reply to this
1) I have my google mail set up in htc mail as an IMAP there is no option to set the update schedule for push mail. I cannot see any other option to set it up for IMAP Idle so I assume it does not work with HTC mail.
2) I have both an exchange activesync mailbox and a google email mailbox set up in htc mail. When you compose an email there is an option on the top to select the from address you are sending to.
3) In the send and recieve settings for each mailbox there is an "always bcc me" option. I just tested it and it looks like it will only automatically bcc to the same account you are sending from. You do have the option of adding other accounts when you are composing an email.
Hope this helps.
one more thing abt the new Sense email app;
is multiple selection possible for ex. to 'mark as read' or 'delete' purposes?
(asking as a potential Sensation owner soon)

Thanks for this. It's a pity that HTC decided to add eye candy to Sense instead of working on useful features like IMAP IDLE.
I just need some clarification on (2). Does changing the From address change the account or can you have two accounts with multiple from addresses?
Thanks

I don't understand what you mean but from what I gather it changes the account you send from. Only one from account can be selected.
I don't know if it is new but the Sense 3 Mail program also supports multiple exchange accounts.
Extra exchange accounts must be added from within the HTC mail application.
Now I can use my personal and work exchange accounts on the phone at once. 1 up over my Touch Pro 2.

Ahh. OK. What I was talking about was using it with an account that is a catchall. account
Say I have owned domain custom-roms.com I could have any email that was sent to any address at custom-roms.com all come into one mailbox. So email sent to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] would all come into the same mailbox which could have the default address of [email protected].
However when it came to replying, say I wanted to reply to an email sent to "kernel" but I didn't want to reply from the default address of "admin", with some mail clients, like K-9, I could choose to use one of the other "From" addresses even though they all belong to the same account.
Ok I see now, setting the from address to an alias set up to the account.
In that case no, from your example you will only be able to choose the [email protected] account. The from addresses you select from are derived from the mailboxes you set up in HTC mail. It is not a text box which you can edit but a list you select from.
The only way to do what you want is to set up an actual account for each of those emails, not aliases and then add each of them to HTC mail. not really what you were looking for though.
I have a question. On my G2 I was able to press a button at the top of each email to "Show Pictures" to display the embedded images and content. I can see it when I bring up my Google account emails, but not my normal POP3 email. As it is the only thing I can view in my emails are just words and links. Is there anyway to fix it so I can view images on there?
Thanks for the help!

Do you use gmail or Live mail? the the outgoing server settings in the email settings, make sure you have the mail server config correctly. I'm using K9 mail and added 2 gmail, 1 yahoo and 3 hotmail accounts to it. They all shared the same inbox so I could read them all without go into each one and check. It's very easy to config, just type email address, login information and that's it.

Because you probably miss-config your outbound mail server settings.(not sending). To check the outbound server settings you need to manually config your email (exhange settings).

I don't know how I mis-configured anything because all I did was enter my email and password when I originally set it up on the tablet. I've been sending and receiving standard email fine for months, it's just that tonight was the first time I took a picture and then attached it to an outgoing email and it won't send.
In the settings menu my only option is for 'incoming server settings', Do I need to delete the account and then re-configure it manually instead of automatically?

You should reconfig the "outgoing server settings", if you still could received emails then your "incoming server settings" is OK, just use your phone and send a test email to your device, or worst come to worst delete the account and re setup.
Have you tested it with a different attachment?
What's the size of the attachment? Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo mail all refuse to send anything over 25MB. The server simply rejects the mail.
You still haven't answered which app you use.

High level zoomability.. for maximum photoreality? Hahahahaha :silly:
But(t) silly it depends on the filetype. The average photograph from my camera is 7MB as JPEG, 18MB as PNG. The RAW files are even worse, average of 30MB... each. And let's not get started on TIFF's.. those are 50MB.
The picture file is less than 1mb.
I can receive attachments. No issue there. I can even forward received emails that have attachements.
So to re-cap and clarify: I can send and receive email. I can receive attachements to email. I can forward received emails w/ attachments to others. I tried to send a <1mb photo attachment, hit 'send', and it's just sits in my outbox.
1) I asked if you could send other attachments. This means a new email with a different attachment. Not a Forward.
2) Everyone asked what mail app you use.
