A discussion on Mobile Commerce, Please give your thoughts and opinions!

Hello everyone.
I am working on a business thesis about mobile commerce (m-commerce) and I am trying to get the thoughts & opinions of consumers. It would be very helpful to my studies if some of you would volunteer to discuss and answer a few of the questions listed below. Feel free to comment on others’ thoughts. Do not worry if your opinions are or are not the same as others. All opinions matter.
A very basic definition of mobile commerce is the purchase of goods or services with a mobile device. However, our discussion is focused on mobile phones.
Some examples of m-commerce include downloading software & ringtones, paying for bus/movie tickets, accessing banking information, and etc. on your phone.
Please discuss any of the questions below that you would like.
* Do you use your phone for making any financial transactions or purchases? If yes, what type? If no, why not?
* Have you had any experiences with using mobile phones for purchases? If yes, please explain. If no, why not?
* What mobile phone services do you find yourself using the most and which ones do you find the most useful? Why?
* Does price effect your decision to use mobile phone services? If yes, please explain.
* What might motivate you to use mobile commerce?
* Do you have a need for on-the-go internet connectivity? If yes, how do you achieve this goal? Please mention the types of devices and/or services you use for this.
All comments are appreciated! Thank you
EDIT: Sorry, If this thread is in the wrong section please move.
Bump.
Maybe I'm asking for too much? Even answering one question would be a great help!
Thanks in advance
I'll bite...
I've never had the guts to make a purchase over my phone. I guess I don't have a reason to have confidence that my information will be secure. I prefer my home PC.
I do check my bank account balance via text every once in awhile. My bank offers the service and has guaranteed it.
I don't have a "need" for a data plan, I live with Wifi only - which is available everywhere I go mostly. I don't feel I "need" a cell phone at all, let alone a PPC. I like my Raphael. I like it a lot, but it is definately not a need.
I use the calendar and contacts to death (sync'ed). I use the phone and text. I use my PPC as a floppy to transfer files. I use wifi to get weather and read the news or watch a movie in bed. I much prefer my PC to browse porn or play games. Oh yeah, trying to do any productive work on my PPC can be done, but is terribly slow. It's good as an option if it's the only thing available.
To answer what might motivate me to use mobile commerce - I'd need confidence in security, I'd need zero headaches from hardware or software completing a transaction, and I'd need the product to be cheaper than if I waited to to get home to do it on my PC (or some form of incentive.)
I'm a cheap bastard though.
Well that's my honest opinions, hope u get something out of it. GL on your essay, dude!
Thank you very much for your input eudaemonic.
Anyone else care to comment?..don't be shy
*bump*
Hoping for just a few more comments.

[Q]Children logger for android needed

Hello XDA community,
as title says im looking for an app that could register text from whatsapp, oovoo, skype and facebook. I tried Children tracker which i found here on xda but it seems outdated and doesnt work.
Now ofc you will ask why do you need that... thats for spying and such.
Well long story me and my lil brothers and sister werent raised with a dad and since im oldest one i have to take care of the others. Last week i noticed my lil sis of age 10 cyber chatting with someone random and that person was asking all kind of adult stuff which she didnt agree to but still she kept it a secret till i found out myself since i have parental control on their pc. Now she has a tablet and a acer phone and im looking for a similar program. I gave her advise last time when it ocurred that such people are bad and could kidnap her and such. But to be 100% sure i wanna monitor their phone and tablet also.
So if anyone can point me in a direction for a free app or atleast free for xx days so i can test it and then buy i would really appreciate it.

[Completed] Tethering VS Hotspot (hardcore gamer here)

Hello and I am a bit embarassed posting here
I have been a pretty hardcore gamer more than half my life now, but recently the house I am living at is sold and the new house has no access to cable internet or DSL. The only option was Satellite which is pretty terrible.
Someone was telling me don't buy the hot spot gear but to use a tethering app (easytether). They said that it won't use my mobile phone data? So I am wondering if this is true or not because I am seriously contemplating not moving to the new location even though it is a beautiful area, I cannot live without my games. :crying:
Any insight on this would be great. Every company i've looked at does not offer an " unlimited" data plan. I currently am using the new google Project FI with the Nexus 5x device.
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist.

Looking for free real Canadian phone number apps? that allow calls to/from CA and US

Hello I hope this isn't in the wrong section. I have looked for hours for apps like this. And so far most of the apps for this either make you earn credits/minutes with ads, or have some dropped calls mentioned in reviews. and one good one seemed to not use wifi.
so far the best I have found is Textnow.
My friend wants to know, and actually he wanted an app like that, that you don't have to register or login at all with, and has 4.8 stars and no terms of service and so ... it's impossible ya? so I'll take what I can get thank you.

Best work phone, Blackberry or otherwise

My company is renewing our cellphone plan (Canada - Rogers). Why that provider because they are offering the best deal.
My question is what smartphone on the market now should I get. I was considering the blackberry Keyone as it is a productivity powerhouse. But the terms in Canada mean I would be stuck with that phone for 3 years.
My fear is that the slow processor will be outdated in 2 years, meaning I'd be stuck with a slow and less productive phone.
I am a construction project manager and use my cellphone for everything when I'm not in the office. Ie. Emails, phone calls, reviewing attachments (drawings or otherwise), the odd time drafting word or basic excel documents.
I am interested in everyone's take if they were given the opportunity.
Thank you everyone for your time in responding.
PS> If this post belongs in another thread please let me know and i will remove and repost... Im new to posting on xda
