[Help][Need Developers] Making CWM for Micromax A56 - General Questions and Answers

Hello Guys and all the Developers here. I want to make CWM for Micromax A56.
We have ROOTED it. But no success in CWM, I have tried everything in compiling a CWM, used builder.clockworkmod.com but failed to create proper recovery, everytime I flashed it din't worked at all. I don't know more about linux and dont have any linux OS.
I request all developers here to please join us and help in compiling a proper CWM for this device.
I can provide any files needed in the procedure [Full ROM DUMP, original factory flash file which is flashable using stock recovery]...and if not please guide me to obtain that.

This device has fastboot right? The recovery is the CWM you tried to create?

Yes we have fastboot. We can flash boot.img and recovery.img.
Although someone reported that flashing system.img always results in error So inorder to flash custom ROMs, we really need CWM, no other way

You mean the recovery.img I have posted here? All those files are STOCK ones man! If you need to check the experimental CWM recoveries we tried to create yet failed, I can give them to you. Just let me know

No, I need the stock one anyway. What cmdline did you use for generating the recovery? Also any idea about the base?
Try booting the attached recovery, i.e:
fastboot boot recovery-new.img

Are you deliberately trying to brick my device by flashing a recovery into the boot partition?
I truely hope its a typo anyways I have flashed the recovery you gave me using :
"fastboot flash recovery recovery-new.img"

Flashing went succesfully. When I rebooted to recovery, it stuck at the boot logo for say 1 minute. After that it went blank. Tried pressing keys, still it was stuck.

Actually, fastboot boot recovery-new.img will just boot the img you define. NOT flash it into your device, not to mention flashing it to boot!

Nope. Tried "adb devices", no luck! Even tried "fastboot devices", still nothing comes up.
Its frozen solid, the bootlogo stays there on the screen.

When you say "which have both CWM & TWRP " I dont get the ides - WHen you flash only the kernel, how is CWM/TWRP showing up ? They are supposed to be residing in the Recovery partition, right ? We flash kernel into the System parition, isnt it ?
Suppose if "hotboot" the kernel without flashing it. Will I have access to CWM ?

Yes. It's possible to load a recovery during boot. We just have to patch a script/binary which gets executed during boot. For example /system/bin/charger or /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
But there are two problems with stock kernel :-
1. In 3.4 kernel for FWVGA devices, video driver (msm_fb.c), needs to be patched for fixing frame buffers. Otherwise graphics show up messed in recoveries.
2. There's also an issue of reserved fields which block cwm start-up. Though twrp boots fine but with graphic glitches due to 1.
So best I can do is to make twrp for locked BL. Though it'll be almost unusable due to graphic glitches.
I hope, you understand my problem here.

Cant you port from xperia z's recovery ?
I tried to install the twrp provided for Z on locked bootloader but not worked for our device. When I take a look on installation script, it pushes charger files to system/bin but our charger file is located on root folder. I dont have recovey so didn't tried to push Z's files on our device at correct location as i'm afraid of bootloop.
If porting of Z's recovery can't be done, please make twrp for our devices ignoring the graphic issues. atleast we will have the recovery.
and i would like to make you know if you don't that or device has CWM pre installed but with restrictions. so may be looking more into system files may make CWM possible
Thanks for taking me in consideration.
Best regards..

Hi! You need to unlock your bootloader See it in the service menu, that it is allowed or not. If not, like me, you're not lucky -yet, if it says allowed, then there is a tutorial in the forum how to do this!

people can use the cwm recovery for the G360H to create an for G360F, the product are similar only 4G not present on the 360H. caution because i see the recovery arent on /dev/block/mmcblk0p21 but on /dev/block/mmcblk0p17.
ps: i try to flash recovery from G360H and cant go to recovery.
Anyone has CWM or TWRP compiled for SM-G360H?

Not sure if it works, I don't have the phone ( I will in 1 week or so, but not sure if the LTE or non-LTE)
anyways this is for G360F
and I compiled it with -eng, so maybe there is more debug output..
Also I don't know the GPIO key values so I don't think you will be able to move through the menu.. I only want to know if its bootable.
zip is not flashable
Edited, not bootable
Look at the latest post, new image!!
Is the recovery tested?

I think I know what's the issue now. Just one more test,
attached are two recoveries, both are TWRP, one is using the stock kernel that the default recovery uses and the other is my compiled kernel.
Try both and please tell me if it works or not.
Try using adb if the phone doesn't restart or the touch screen doesn't work in TWRP
Also everyone can try it, go ahead.
And another thing, I used the kernel from the recovery.img of the OP.
Edit: Look at my second post for the recoveries..

It seems no one has created a CWM for your phone.
You can create it on your own.
Check here: How to make CWM recovery
You can get scatter file and boot.img from the stock ROM here: http://13freak.blogspot.in/2014/12/lenovo-yoga-b8000-h-3g-100-firmware.html

Yes, most MTK devices will work for that.
If you're afraid it will brick the phone, you can do this:
Follow the steps from there until recovery image (.img file) is created.
Then boot into Fastboot mode (Google it if u don't knkno
then using ADB, execute this command:
Code:
fastboot boot pathname/recovery_name.img
(Where pathname is the directory where recovery is present with name recovery_name.img)
Better rename it as recovery.img and place in C:\ and use it like this:
fastboot boot C:\recovery.img
If it boots and CWM recovery shows up, then you can flash it
U can also use it directly by this way by booting

[TESTING][ROM][7.1.2] CM14.1 for janice [TESTERS NEEDED]

02/22 Update: Project temporarily on hold until March due to school.
03/19 Update: I'm back.
03/27 Update: It booted
Hi S Advance Community! I don't own this device but I compiled CM14.1 and I need testers who know how to logcat, use odin to reflash boot image, etc.
THIS BUILD IS TOTALLY UNTESTED (i don't have an s advance)!!! AS A RESULT, RECOVERY MODE MIGHT NOT WORK AFTER FLASHING THIS ROM AND YOU'LL NEED TO FLASH STOCK ROM USING ODIN IF THAT HAPPENS!
I just need info if it boots or not, and logcat/last_kmsg if it doesn't.
Link of rom (for advanced users only)
YOU AGREE TO NOT KILL ME FOR ANYTHING THAT HAPENS TO YOUR PHONE!
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120695238 (again, FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK)
Kernel Source (for GPL Compliance)
EDIT: Use this guide on how to make a logcat/last_kmsg dump when the ROM doesn't boot if you don't know how to (no need to flash the zip on that thread as this rom is an eng build already).
EDIT #2: ROM doesn't boot so I need the /proc/last_kmsg file obtainable from recovery after a failed boot.
Thanks! Downloading it ?
I'm waiting for feedback from the already downloaded it. If successful, please share some screenshots. Thanks in advance guys.

Thanks for testing! While the phone is stuck on the samsung logo, can you press the 3 button combo for recovery for 10+ seconds (without pulling the battery before) until the phone boots to recovery and copy /proc/last_kmsg to sdcard using recovery then upload it here? I need to see the kernel logs if it's an init related issue or a library related one.
Yea ! The installation was a success but it didn't boot...Stuck On the splash screen...I will flash it again and will let you know the kernal logs and stuff.....Thanks For your support for Janice
I will send tomorrow because today i haven't had the time, so that the last time I installed this android even holding the 3 keys to enter the recovery mode the cell phone was stopped on the logo of samsung, would have some other way of copying the /proc/last_kmsg ? But tomorrow i will install again and I'll see if i go into recovery, sorry my english if it is bad is that i am from Brazil
On Codina must be enabled SELINUX with boot parameter - 1 and cmdline=selinux.bootmode=permissive to boot up Nougat. For MM this wasn't needed.

Thanks for reporting! No wonder why no one's giving me logs so I'm gonna make an odin flashable boot.img later with working recovery from some rom.
Hi guys! This is the just the odin-flashable tar of the boot image of PolishVodka's CM14.1 as recovery was said to work there.

https://github.com/Epirex/Samsung_STE_Kernel/blob/marshmallow/usr/u8500_initramfs.list

PROBLEM SOLVED!
had to extract and flash kernel manually.
Download this: https://mega.nz/#!kGZEjZSQ!iLAW0onaLACrG5v7BCYZUVH6WMO1ued8PWWcpMTY6Fs
Boot to fastboot mode.
Extract bootoreo.zip:
fastboot flash kernel KERNEL.IMG
fastboot flash ramdisk RAMDISK.IMG
See if that helps.
Edit: I was too late. Oh well

What did you flash?
That error displays IF you flash an image intended for Nougat. Because on Nougat the recovery/boot partition included both ramdisk and zimage, in Oreo they are separate.
Or if it's corrupted.

You could install a kernel manager, but it shouldn't really be needed.
Unless you want to tweak the default settings a bit, then get something like Kernel Adiutor

So I guess the kernel startup from that.

Get to fastboot mode, you're currently in error mode.
Just hold power and volume down while USB is plugged in and you should end up in Fastboot mode. It might take a few tries.
Then flash a recovery for Oreo.

@ante0 brother install as you said, recovery stock everything well the flashing, but I do not achieve any change in the phone everything remains the same .. what is happening ..? It does not let me Reaching the recovery .. neither stock, nor TWRP helps @ ante0 .. what will be my problem
Help please ..up up ..!!! ???
i am having the same issue, all of my partitions are seemingly flashed correctly in order but i am bootlooping every gsi or openkirin build i flash idk what to do :/
Same here, I have high hopes for one day being able to flash these but even following all the instructions such as factory reset, format the data partition etc., it's a bootloop every time for me when flashing these and then a tedious return to EMUI.

Hi, I have an error query when I start the phone Error Mode Func 11 Recovery Image, Error 2 Image Failed, my version is MH9-L09C432B368 I got this version following this tutorial:
android-hilfe.de/[/url] forum / root-custom-roms-modding-fuer-huawei-mate-9.3022 / anleitung-upgrade-auf-oreo-downgrade-auf-nougat.857015.html
everything worked perfect, but I got a version via OTA the 369 having the TWRP, Bootloader unlocked I had the brilliant idea to block the Bootloader to install version 369, there I start the problem of error 11 and 2.
Can anyone tell me what files should I flash to recover the cell phone? I have understood that I must flash the recovery img images as well as the img of the erecovery but I could not make the cell phone work, if I install the twrp it does not start either, they could tell me what steps I should take. Give to be able to save my cell phone?
Thank you very much everyone for the help you can give me
