Welcome, community, to the XDA Developer's Day thread. We receive endless support from the developers. They deal with our bug submissions, questions, comments, complaints, and whining on a daily basis. What can we possibly do to give back?!
________________
When:
The first of every month.
What Can I Do?
Consider Rom, Application, Kernel, Theme, Tweak, and other developers in your decision:
Pick a developer who has influenced your life in some way this month and donate a few dollars! And come next month, pick another developer. A rotation, of sorts. Every donation counts, and is cherished.
Update your signature to reflect your support for developers and for the mass recognition of the holiday!
Credit to DHO for the original thread idea.
I REALLY don't think this will be necessary...
But just in case: Snagging post #2 as well.
Oh, and this has taken off fairly well on Rootzwiki.
I hope it does here as well.
This is a really awesome idea
+1
+1 as well this is a pretty cool idea. Developers really deserve supportfrom the community. One of let's them know that what they are doing is not in vain. Two some monitary support is always a good incentive to keep good hard core developers at the top of their game, which is the long run is good for everyone. Now I know a lot of of developers do it just because it is their personal hobby and the enjoy it. But some cummunity support and graditude never hurts.
Done, great idea.
Edit: And to the jerk who rated this thread with 1 star, you know who you are and you should be ashamed. Truly ashamed...
done
done deal .as stated before great idea.

Tv out control isnt built into any of sgs4g ics's...i have an ics tablet that has tvout always on...seems like an easy fix. But then again i havnt developed anything but a headache.
Is it possible to just change a 0 to a 1 somewhere?

Would you please stop asking about TV-Out and just use your tablet for the capability! For the love of god already!

Yes it is that damn hard to change the 1 to a 0. Because that is not all it takes.
If you think it is all it takes setup a build environment fix it and submit the changes to team acid. Otherwise STFU. There is more important things going on in the development then to turn on the tvout ability for you.
Holly ****
Lumin and Eollie agree. My work here is officially done.

Winning thread.
Now you said you will fix it.....where's the fix big guy?....
Now you've been called out on it and obviously you can not fix it.....your spamming the dev threads with your stupidity...telling them their roms are incomplete cuz it doesn't support your precious TV out?....lol
ShortbusDriver, I think he learnt his lesson.
Worse case he can buy a magnifier for half a buck and tape it to the screen.

Wouldn't the last five posts be considered Trolling?
Something we are told not to do in "fancy signatures"?. It has only been one day since the person said they would fix it themselves. NO ETA'S remember?.
Maybe they are searching and working on it. Hopefully they can and contribute in a positive way..maybe they will Develop into the next Raver, FB, Whitehawx, krylon, ect on their travels.
The last five post only contain ridicule and insult. Trolls.
I guess the Cool people (we have a "click" in here now?) can troll without impunity but attack and accuse people of trolling.
xda is a PUBLIC Forum. It has Rules. One of which is "respect other members".
Save your **** talking for irc, gtalk or what ever else you use to talk **** about the sgs4g Community. We do not need your negativity here.
Jerry hit the triangle with exclamation mark in it and report away. Nobody is above the rules. Nobody.
@Jerry mine was a genuine joke and didnt ask for eta so relax doode but if u don't like do as eollie says report it and keep ur speech to yourself or like u said to irc, gtalk or ur blog.

Jerry,
you must have not read the entire thread. So let me explain :
The guy said he doesn't have a clue in developing.
We explained him it's not that simple and that it's 'on the list'.
The guy complained again about not having this functionality.
The guy went into dev section ROM threads posting "your ROM is incomplete! it doesn't have TV-out!"
I have his trolls on both my latest ROM threads.
Next thing the guy says "I'll fix it myself" (in a childish manner) though he said he doesn't have a clue.
So who's trolling who ? my ETA request was a joke, in case you haven't realized it.
So please next time read the entire thread, otherwise you are trolling yourself.

Don't take it personal erik. You say you were were genuinely joking. You even had the tact to put Lmao in your post.. I can't doubt you.
BUT this person IS BEING clowned/disrespected in this thread. Let's not Bull**** (semantics) each other. We all aren't stupid..
I never said you asked for an ETA.
I don't nor ever have reported a thread. That's not my style. Others assume that role..
I'll keep my comments to myself when you keep your's to yourself. Again this is a PUBLIC Forum. It has rules. New members, Senior members and Devs alike. The same rules apply to ALL. One of which is "respect other members". The OP has been disrespected in my opinion.
I am a senior member. I have been a very positive and $upporting member (read my posts/threads) from almost the day it started..I'm not looking for drama..
There is a negative attitude, disrespectful really, as of late, within this Community (by a few members) that I, and I'm sure other members, have noticed.. I'd hate to see new members chased away because a few members reply/attack negatively.
I've been here through its whole evolution so I understand where it is now..the frustration of the senior members with the "newb" not following the rules.. Search and read first..
I thought we are supposed to be making our Androids better through xda. You know learning from and teaching each other new ways to do that..
I'm not looking for drama erik. I guess I just wish the atmosphere in here was as positive as it used to be.
Thank you for all your Hard Work's doode seriously.
Jerry have you clicked on this peron's profile and viewed all the posts regarding tv-out? It gets to the point where helping is no longer an option.
I'm still trying to understand why its so important to you.
I for instance would just assume play games on Xbox and watch movies thru my cable company.
You say you have a tablet that does this TV out for you,so exactly what are you crying about, just the fact that it gives you something to cry about?
I just don't get why you would rather cause this much ruckus over something so small.
In my day I would have gotten a twitch across my backside for acting so spoiled.
Know what I mean Vern?
Probably to young to know that line.

Hey all, I have created a new site called the Andy Student Handbook(or ASH), which is basically the hub for all high school and college android fans, enthusiasts, devs, etc. Its really great, check it out please. If you want very specific details on what ASH is and does, check out the site! I have an introduction article that will give the gist of what it is all about. Also, if you want to become an article writer for ASH, please follow the instructions provided in order to "apply", I can only accept a limited number of writers at the moment (maybe two or three) but as the site's traffic increases, so will the number of needed writers. So, if I can't accept you now, tell every android enthusiast you know to visit (even though the site is targeting the high school and college population, my articles can still very well offer great advice to anyone), and you never know, a spot may just so happen to slide into place! Without further ado, check my site out
P.S. - If the template changes, I am simply changing things up, dont freak out lol

This may come off as somewhat of a rant but this has bothered me for sometime now. Whenever a rom developer releases a new version they include a change log. That change log tells you what they added or took away obviously.
Now my question is why would a developer add in the change log "even more!" added to every change log as if it would increase my excitement to try the rom?
My personal opinion is that it doesn't increase my excitement . To me It makes the developer look unprofessional. It makes it seem as if the developer did not keep notes of every change they made to the new version. It makes me think they add it to try and get more donations from their loyal fans.
As a programmer details are important and I want details. Adding in fluff is not necessary and makes the rom look unattractive to those who know what they are actually doing when they flash someone else's rom.
Would you risk putting sand in your gas tank if it was advertised to increase mileage? Then why would you do it to a expensive piece of equipment you purchased?

I completely agree. Writing software professionally requires that you keep a detailed and updated log about the changes you make.
I'd love to go to one of those threads and ask the 'developer', "So.. what do you mean by 'Even more!!'?" (I realize that the punctuation in that last sentence was crazy haha). I'm sure he wouldn't be able to respond, with anything logical. If he surprised me with actual details however, all I'd tell him to do was put that in the damn changelog!
Watching the way XDA has transitioned over the years, I too agree that most of the time it is just a ploy to get more donations. Seems XDA has been going that way for a while now.
You would get flamed immediately.

Are you talking about me?
That's because many many "developers" are simply not professionals, maybe they are not old enough to understand that or they are not serious about development and are just learning. Think you are talking about cooks though.
Guys you have to remember. This is a hobby to most people and they do it for fun not professionally. Its easier with aosp as you can see the changes on the git.

I realize most people who do it steal someone else's rom, make a few changes and try to get donations.
There is some dev for my phone that is on version 20 of his rom and only has 2k views. Every change log says "even more! I cant remember". Seems sketchy. Anyway you guys get the idea. Be honest and professional about a rom.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
Its a hobby and for fun you don't have to be professional about it heck if w developer wanted to he could right go fk yourself in the change log in fact one of our developers does that but he makes one of the best ROMs lol

That's how it is sadly, but there are 'devs' without 'RD' titles who do it for hobby, support multiple devices, take no donations because it is their hobby and give proper changelogs with link to gerrit. It depends on the individual.
Just a quick note to the developers and senior members of this site. A couple months ago I found my way onto XDA armed only with the terms “root” and “brick”. I’ve made enough progress to familiarize myself with a little of the technical jargon, flash a couple of ROMs (I’m currently on CM7), read tons of material, and learned how to follow directions, especially in using Heimdall and CM recovery to flash.
Most of you are probably 45-50 years younger than me and 50 times smarter. Not only have I been impressed with the immense amount of talent shown by the developers, but also by the informative and courteous manner in which the devs and senior members have answered my (sometimes naïve) questions.
Thanks…

I do intend to try cm9 in the near future...unfortunately, I have to be in NYC all of next week and I'm going to flash back to stock GB because I'll need wifi calling constantly...those midtown buildings play havoc with signals.
