LG G2x - T-Mobile LG G2x

Hello All,
I want to ask you guys that I am getting this Phone in cheap like around $125. I need to ask you guys that in that price is the right phone also I heard that people are complaining regarding this phone which majorly include random reboot. If I root it and flashed it via any custom 4.0 rom will it fix these problems ? Also I didn't understand what are the GB roms mean ? If anyone can suggest me a gud MIUI or any 4.0 rom it would be great.
Many Thanks in advance for your help.

Do yourself and your sanity a favor. DON'T pick up this phone! It's backed by a lying company, and it's an Nvidia based product making it subject to Nvidia's stuck up policy for releasing hardware drivers. Get something else. You'll be happier you did. LG NEVER again!

So....for the sane response. If you're planning on sticking with the stock firmware, then I'd also say to move on to another phone. If you're comfortable flashing a custom rom, I'd say if you can wait a while the this will probably be one of the best phones available.
To clarify, stock on this phone is very poor. CM7 is pretty good, but still has some bugs and obviously lacks all the newer features of ICS/JB. Right now we don't have a good ICS/JB build, but we're hoping to have one soon. Source was recently released for one of our "sister" phones. RC (Arcee, Ricardo) has already released CM10 for the O2x, but is ironing out some details on it atm. The reasonable assumption is that after is done with that, he'll make a version for the G2x (as he did with the "hacked" version of CM9 in the past).
So in short....hardware's great, but software's crap. Hopefully we'll see improvement on the software side soon though

At $125, if you will be satisfied with running Android 2.3.4 such as the stock LG/T-Mobile V21E or V21Y or a modded ROM of either of those such as Weapon, then the phone is a bargain if it is also in very good condition. The phone may or, most likely, won't get any further updates to ICS and/or JB even from developers such as those on XDA or Cyanogenmod (CM10). If you want to get the latest Android, buy a newly released NEXUS qualified phone with JB which will also get future Android updates.

Yeah, for $125 you can pick up a new non-LG phone that is far superior in terms of support and feature set. Anyone who recommends you to buy an LG smartphone does not care for you the way I do. I want you to live your life, not sit here in an XDA forum like the rest of us waiting to be saved by the open source community.

I am interested in one of those phones for $125 (unsubsidized cost). Name them and what support and features are superior to the G2X.

Fixed your post. The p999 will be definitely getting CM10. Right now, were just in a period when all the other devs are being respectful to arcee and waiting for all the kinks to be worked out of the p990 CM10 before porting to the P999. Plus we will most likely get official CM support from arcee as well.

Respect. Odd concept these days unless between gangs when it is used as a warning before all hell breaks loose.
So far, even though asked repsectfully and politely, RC hasn't provided any information about providing CM10 for the P999. I think we're hoping that he will after he gets some of the problems with CM10 for the P990 remedied. Apparently, he doesn't have a P999 but there's a rumour that he's getting one which I hope he does so he can optimize CM10 for the P999 without a lot of iterative programming. It's difficult to figure out what's happening with other developers, whether they're holding back out of "respect" for RC or they're gone from P999 development (there's one XDA member currently trying to port the P990 CM10 ROM but is having serious difficulties doing it).

Hey buddy there isn't anything wrong with the g2x as a phone. It still has tetra 2 and plays well with a lot apps and games. Its much better than any low cost new phone out there.
Leave it stock and maybe rooted and you will be fine.
Unless lg releases ics for it you wont have a full working ics rom for it.
And the problem isn't nvidia! Tegra2 devices are everywhere and the t3 is one the highest demanded chips out there.
Lg isn't totally to blame either.
The problem is anytime you buy a branded version of a phone it has to wait to get its software out too. So since the g2x says T-Mobile on it, they are also the reason the phone doesnt have much respect for the dev community,
Have fun with your 100$ phone. Best you can't find a better one cheaper

I wouldn't let NVIDIA and LG off the hook for blame, they both have caused problems for the phones NVIDIA's chips are in and LG for the phones it makes. I own an unbranded Optimus 2X which is exactly the same as the T-Mobile G2X in every respect except that it is LG's branded phone. How did that happen? It's because it is a Canadian Optimus 2X which was sold by some Canadian cell phone service providers such as WIND Mobile and Mobilicity and operates on the same AWS bands as the T-Mobile G2X. It came with Froyo and, in spite of it being advertised as being upgradeable and to receive an upgrade to Gingerbread, it has not received any Android OS updates at all and, according to LG Canada, never will.

I'd say $75 would be the price I would recommend it at. I paid $200 with contract unfortunately

Don't think these other companies were ready...

Samsung... LG. They wanted to enter the superphone battle but really had no idea of what they were getting themselves into. The time is over where you can just release a phone and not update it expecting it to just continue to sell.
HTC has been dealing with Android for awhile and definitely understands this concept. Many of their phones are receiving Gingerbread while many others have had announcements about updates. HTC stated a phone wasn't going to be updated then a day later had a change of heart. Days later an announcement was made with details of the update.
Communication and promptness is what is going to make or break these companies. Samsung had a big success with the Galaxy S but no one can deny they failed with updating the device once issues arose.
LG definitely wasn't ready to have the "world's first dual-core" smartphone when they didn't even have a competent engineering team to put out good software. And now that same software team is taking forever to get it right.
Were we too naive trusting LG with a phone of this stature?

samsung was ready. I mean look at the sgs2 now. Even with not updating like you said they had mad success. Even those who said never again still want the samsung. It also is the least buggiest device on paper out there looking at the forums.
LG yes. they came in like DEEERRRP, but Samsung knew what they were doing. ****, sgs 4g lmaoooo. They may not be cool how they do it, but they know what there doing and make a good product or people wouldnt be wanting a sgs2 so bad.
Only issue they had was gps, and yes poor updates but thats just them saving money and time and sending it out on a whole new device thats the same as the last with the update. lol
LG did it right with the hardware but screwed up the software. It happens. Google has yet to work with LG, which I think is next in line.
Samsung, HTC, Motorola have all had turns with google and learning the ins and outs.
I think the next Nexus phone will be LG... that will bring them up to speed like the rest.

I've never had a Samsung Android phone before so I can't speak to the past. But the SGS2 has already received three ROM updates and four camera firmware updates in six weeks. 2.3.4 is expected by the end of the month to address an issue with the Android suspend process chewing up battery. It's for non-branded phones though and once the U.S. carriers get involved all bets are off no matter who manufactured the phone.
G2x was rushed out, to get the "first" tag.... It should have went out with 2.3. Saying that LG can not support the phone is way way way too early. IMO they are trying to make 2.3 release be a complete package, as bug free as reasonably necesssary and possible. Tons of updates are equal to one really solid release, some may prefer lots of updates, while most want a solid release, without the need of tick tacking.
LG is essentially relying on pure Android.....if the G2x is not ready for primetime, then Android itself is not.
Incorrect. LG's abomination is not pure Android. It's been proven that they heavily modified the build and just made it LOOK like stock. So again, it falls on the shoulders of LG to get it right.

And how did that work out for them?
Please do not put Samsung in the same league as LG. One year ago I would have said, yea sure, go ahead but not now. They just made the worlds most powerful Android device ever made and there getting involved with the DEV community. They have already released 3 updates for the SGSII which is 3 more than LG issued for the G2X. The SGSII has the least amount of bugs out of the new dual core phones being released.
Samsung just joined HTC at the top. LG just replaced Samsung of the Behold II days.
I might be wrong but why did they come out with naked 2.2 froyo?? im guessing cause they wanted to release the phone as soon as possible because if LG could come out with a dual core phone im sure LG knew that other competitors will be coming out with one soon. Also look at them right now they handed out couple of G2X w/ GB to tmobile employees for testing, why couldn't they do that earlier. I guess they figure "hey lets release the phone w/ 2.2 Froyo and figured it would be "safe"". But i guess that was a big mistake.
As far as im concern my phone works perfectly
in my opinion, yeah LG brought out an unstable phone
but then with the developers roms and kernel, my g2x is the fastest and smoothest phone i've ever experienced with.
im not saying that LG was perfect, but its because of them & developers that i have a phone that rapes any other phone on the market

The Atrix is dual-core on Froyo with the same Tegra SoC and hasn't experienced the issues the G2X has so you can't blame Froyo. The Sensation and SGS2 are dual-core on Gingerbread and don't have similar issues either which would mean dual-core phones can work successfully with any newer Android version. So, anecdotally, all fingers point to LG's software and/or hardware decisions.
The whole reason I bought this phone was because it was a very powerful, stock android phone. It had all the right hardware. I knew that because it was in the G series it woiuld recieve crazy dev support and I was sold when I heard cyannogen would be making a rom for it. Its unlocked and flash happy. Honestly I didnt care then and dont care now what the phone was like when it was released. I bought this to tinker and tinkering I am doing lots of. If I wanted a locked down phone with a laggy UI i would have gone with an HTC or motorola phone. At the time i had no clue HTC would unlock the bootloader but has that even happened yet?
If htc was so prepared they would of unlocked the bootloader, which they didn't.

If anything, it would make more sense to think that HTC is incapable of producing solid tech. And quite honestly, it shows. The G1 was a horrid pieces of hardware [note I said HARDWARE, not software] that only stood out because it was the first Android device. The MyTouch was and is slow and clunky even after official upgrades and custom ROMS , where as the Cliq XT [which at one point was WORST PHONE EVAR!~!! according to most android fanboys] is absolutely blazing on its CM7 port considering its a 600mhz processor. And don't get me started about all of HTC's subpar Winmo phones that plagued T-Mobile for a long time [probably why smartphones didn't take off for a while til the iPhone and Blackberry]
On the other hand, LG is more than capable of producing a high end piece of mobile electronic. Considering they have a long history of computer hardware, also applicances and commercial technology. If you think a SoC based Android phone is complicated, please take a look at service manuals for a modern washer or a 3D HDTV. LG has the assembly lines, the manpower, and the R/D to develop a top class mobile device. And the G2X is easily the best designed phone on the market. I'm sorry so many people have had so many issues, but a fully working G2X is miles ahead of anything offered by HTC or Samsung.
Some of you act as if LG has never made mobile phones, yet they've made some of the best and some of the most innovative devices before the smartphone craze took off.

But i can tell you first hand.
this rom is the same rom pretty much as the overseas version which has the lg skin on it. they changed the png files to be stock android and removed the settings additions.
all the hooks and java are in the framework files at least the ones i looked at. have tons of stuff that is not froyo 2.2.2 source.
this explains why both phones have similair problems.
themes cause tons of bootlopps and freezes and reboots if not done correctly. and thats probably the cause of the reboots. since this is a themed rom.
with rommers they put out an update to fix a problem. the companies seem to always try to fix everything before releasing than on top of that they are bringing a whole new os and froyo and GB are quite a bit different. and with tmobile i imagine they told them to get a working gingerbread rom on it and they would buy the phones again.
Hope this helps some.
i think your right

Worked great, the got a lot of press for being the first dual core, which is why they rushed.
The sales have been so strong that they ran out of the phones. Negative press is pretty much on this site and similar, which probably reaches about 5% max of the buyers.
They released with 2.2 which gives most a strong belief that 2.3 will solve a ton of issues whether or not I have experienced them.
The G2x will always be part of the against other phones, as part of the benchmarks, where as the Sensation will drop off.
So did it work, I think so.
Looking forward to 2.3....if it introduces problems I will be very upset.

[Q] Why no CM7\MiUi roms?

The AT&T SG2 had CM7 and MiUi roms basically on launch day I've notice roms seem to be coming slow on the skyrocket.
Is this because of the different chipsets, Dev Interest, or something else compared to SG2?
(This isn't me complaining I'm just curious , I also noticed no CM7 roms for T-Mobile SG2)

The galaxy s2 lte is the international version of the skyrocket, but the issue is it released at around the same time and is not near as popular as the original gs2.
Our phones are very similar to the tmo GS2, so once they get a cm7 port the skyrocket version shouldn't be far behind.
You should not stick with this phone if you are hoping for a ton of dev support. Frankly, we're lucky to have what we have right now (thanks guys!). This is a one off phone and as such, it's more difficult to port stuff over to it. I consider it highly unlikely that we'll see any Cyanogen or MiUi love on this phone unless portability some how gets easier with ICS.
I'm not huge on installing ROM's just to play with them. I come here more for problem solving on stock + root configs, so this isn't a big deal for me. But I can understand why it's a big turn off to some people.
The ROMS for the Infuse came fairly quickly after the phone was available. Subsequent cooked ROMs then started becoming more stable just about 3-4 months after. Of course, it all depends on the availability of dev support for the SR and hopefully they are coming onboard soon enough.
Then again, if you want *more* than a few ROMs to choose from, then the 'regular' sgs2 may be more up your alley.
I NEED MY STOCK ANDROID BACK... touch wiz is pretty but i went from g1 to n1 to skyrocket and i miss some things
A second line is coming up for upgrade (for the wife) and I have thought about getting/trying out the skyrocket as I have the original att SGS2 and love the rom and dev support. Already testing out the international versions alpha build of ice cream sandwich. But for the wife's phone I don't think I want to mess with it as much though. But it DOES boil down to dev support and roms I guess. Is it really this slow in here? I love my OG SGS2 and even though we will have lte in my area by years end I wont be giving up mine for anything. I got my OG SGS2 two days after launch and at first was excited by the lte version until it was confirmed to have the snapdragon and not the exerynos. So I was glad I stayed.
So my question is has any well known devs jumped into the skyrocket arena yet? The dev section looks kind of lonely right now. I have a month to decide whether to get her a OG SGS2 or the skyrocket so I am in no rush. I saw all the threads and have followed the skyrocket until it was moved out of our sub forum, so I have read all the debates and arguing about the differences between the OG and skyrocket. Haven't been in here for a few weeks now and it looks almost the exact same developer section wise. Other than being rooted have you guys seen any spectacular advancements as we have seen in the OG SGS2? I am NOT in here trolling but just wanted to get all your inputs as well. Are you still glad you went with the skyrocket? Are you glad you didn't just take it back and get a OG SGS2? I know with lte you guys get kick ass download speeds, and in my OG I get 8Mb download and haven't had any issues streaming anything, downloading anything, or visiting any web pages. So is it worth it in your eyes for me to get the skyrocket for the wife? PLEASE only real answers, I am not here for flaming wars or "my device is better because" replies, I am not trying to stir up the emotions I have seen between the two in the past. So again please just your honest and as possible unbiased opinions. Thanks
PS.I posted this here because I run CM7 on my OG SGS2. Not sure if I could give it up though touchwiz on our (both) att SGS's gets the job done. Plus with testing out alpha builds of ICS we are in for a WHOLE change of goodness as long as the ASOP build looks and feels. Unless samsung or att don't ruin it that is.

I would certainly love to see CM7 support for this device. i think it would be tremendous oversight for it to get swept under the table and miss out on CM7.1 + CM9.
I do not see it happening .. i believe it will show up sooner or later.

Unfortunately, with the dates announced by LG for ICS (September 2012 at best) is the straw that broke the camel!
I even tried my own builds upon the rom without success, as LG provided virtually no sources ..
I decided to exchange my O3D against a galaxy SII, its cost me nothing ... and I was surprised to see that Samsung has already publish ICS beta rom perfectly usable as daily use. I use now CM9 and is perfect, in short I am no longer frustrated.
I encourage every member of this forum to do the same thing, for LG understands that we must not take these customers for idiots!
Wish you best for 2012, goodbye all++
PS: ICS is very very beautifull!!

Nice good for you. I'm getting frustrated with O3D as well. After the initial awe of 3D is over it's just plain slow even with some custom roms. AFter GB update it sometimes has missed out calls and it doesnt ring, camera still takes ages to come up. Less and less updates from LG and list goes on. But i wouldn't change it now since Galaxy SIII is supposed to be launching this quarter or other phones with quad core. So might as well go for something better.
U r right but i'm not waiting the ICS rom so i'm gonna stay with LGO3D
Oh guys, I got rid of my O3D as well, but not for GSII, for the mighty Galaxy Nexus..
As a loyal Nexus One user once, I have really missed the Nexus experience, and I must say, LG really really sucks big time.
You have to experience the zero lag experience of this phone, especially the zero lag camera shutter is amazing. You click, and bamm, you have your photo taken, and back to shutter mode in absolutely no time.
And ICS rocks of course.
What a loss with O3D..
I would not exchange it for a SII, it's not a worthy trade.
But my patience with this handset has reached its limit. It has been a torturing experience using this phone so far, and it has all been due to the constant MAJOR bugs LG adds to its ROMs.
It's unbelievable we get the ghost calls and sms on a V21 ROM, and the loads of problems previous ROMs had before make us expect nothing positive from LG.
I'm hugely disappointed by LG and though I'm sticking with this phone for a while more until I decide what to buy next, one thing is for sure, LG terminals are a no-go.
Cool, you pays yer money, you makes your choice.
I on other hand have just gotten rid of a Samsung product - the galaxy tab - due to woeful support and buggy software. You think lg are the only ones to delay and pre-release software?
The s2 is a great phone but the optimus 3D is fine for my needs, and ics isn't stable enough yet so I can wait. I bought the device knowing it was on froyo so I can't say I'm too aggrieved!
Good luck with your S2!

Isnt the SGSII much more expensive than the O3D (At least in Australia. Prepaid O3Ds go for ~$400 while prepaid SGS2s go for at least 550.)

I don't actually like the look of ICS - It looks too simple. I also don't see why people want ICS so badly, Quite alot of apps don't support it, and there isn't much new features that cant be done better by Non-ICS apps.
Most custom launchers already have the functions of the ICS launcher, most with extra features as well.
Cyanogenmod pretty much has Swipe to dismiss notifications.
Swype is much better than the ICS keyboard imo.
Face unlock and the better voice input engine are pretty much the only things custom apps cant add to GB/Froyo (Neither of which has much use. Face unlock can also be unlocked by a photo.)

Thats why I have turned back to Nexus Nation. No need to worry about the crap that manufacturers put in their firmwares. Pure Google, Pure satisfaction
To each his own, I guess.
ICS would be nice but I'm in no rush...heck I don't even see any difference in Gingerbread from Froyo (except better camera quality which is not even because of Gingerbread)
Phone works great and I love the 3D so I'm staying put

yeah...we all know that galaxy sii come with better support and software in both community and from factor...but still i have the 3D and at least cm7 is coming and the current roms are good enough...and im willing to wait another 9 months or so to get my ICS
so i'll stick with the optimus 3D for now...i would choose it over galaxy SII any day
but its a matter of personal taste and preferences
The price of O3D has been dropping in the online stores lately (around 300-400 euros atm), and I've been thinking of buying one to replace my Nokia N900. But reading these posts makes me think it's not that smart, even the price isn't that bad.
I really like the N900, but I think I need a new toy. And 1080p video recording. And no, I don't want to buy SGS2, as even my boss has one.
No thanx. Have had a SGSII before O3D and I like O3D better.

Why change it with a p[hone as sluggish as hell, full of bad quality hardware and crappy 3d? just because of the custom roms? Bottom line is that (almost) no custom rom is as stable as stock ones any brand you go see. Sure i like custom roms too just for the freedom of choosing but srsly evo3d? I've seen it in action with a hell lot of custom roms (my brother has one) and it is not half as good as o3d. My bro is so jealous of my o3d that he keeps asking me to swap phones
Was going for SGII, but after trying Cyanogen Mod I happy with this phone again, Zero Lag.
Just for fun I called LG, I knida call them every week for fun to tease them.
thinking about it now I should have taped the phone calls and put them out on you tube. very funny stuff.
Last call to LG:
me: when will Gingerbread for Australia will be released?
Op: it is has been released already
Me: really?
Op: yes
Op: you do this, then you do that. (installing software on the computer for the update)
me: can you please ask your tech guy please?
op: okay give me 2 minutes
after 10 minutes on hold
op: oh I am sorry but I made a mistake, the gingerbread will not be released for another 3 weeks.
me: another 3 weeks? why???????
op: they are doing final testing to make sure it is 100%
me: oh, so it the same as froyo where they tested and it is still buggy????
op: foryo???? what is Froyo???
me: you are kidding, right???
op: LG uses Android and the delay is from Google and not us, and the problems with the phone is because Android is Buggy
me: Thank you for the information, have a nice day!!!!

Moving on

HI guys
Im moving on from the beloved (and equally "hated") G2X to SGS1. Just wanted to say thanks to this great little community for all the support and thanks to our talented devs.
so.. this is farewell!
So you're taking a step down from the G2X to the original Galaxy S? Interesting choice. I won both phones and the G2X kills that phone!

When I "move on", I will be not be getting another LG or any phone by a manufacturer which doesn't provide timely updates, has locked bootloaders (which LG is reverting to), isn't open source with all the drivers, isn't well supported by independent ROM and Kernel developers, abandons new operating system versions such as ICS for its recent products such as what has occurred with the G2X, isn't fully capable of using the modem radio for all the bands which all the carriers use in North America and Europe. There's not many manufacturers and phones which comply with those requirements. Saving a few dollars by not buying the most recent phone which meets those requirements is wasting money and will result in frustration and anger. Also a phone which meets those requirements will maintain its resale value much better than phones which don't like the G2X. Think about it then buy whatever you want with open eyes.

Yes, instead of inventing something, just buy patents and milk anyone else who uses them and don't use them to make anything with either. There's so much of that going on that the U.S. patent office is looking into getting patent law changed to prevent that.

Wrong, gs1 international is officially on 2.3.7, if im not mistaken, maybe 2.3.5. That is of course if hes referring to the i9000. The only "sgs1" still on 2.2 is the samsung vibrant which is OF COURSE a t mobile device.....And in all truth the vibrant which is officially stuck on 2.2 has had ICS long before the g2x dreamed it up.....

Honestly? If I hadn't sold my Vibrant fair and square, and still owe on the G2X (value plan), I would go back.
The friend who bought my Vibrant last fall had me upgrade him to ICS last month. It runs circles around the G2X on ICS. Using that phone again was like a breath of fresh air, I felt horrible having to give it back.

Completely agree! Just got my GN today and flashed AOKP on it asap. You and your team really did a good job on AOKP. It's a wayyyy different experience on the GN than it was on the G2x.
Good to know kwes I wonder if he was talking about the T-Mobile version or not. But I seen the phone and used it, not a bad device at all. If it is upgraded like that then I'd do it probably.

hi everyone, i was talking about the i9000. just upgraded it to miui v4, smooth like a butter hope you guys enjoy your g2x and ics to come.

Still worth buying as a budget device?

Hi Blaze friends,
I'm looking for a budget device for some family members and am curious if the Blaze still fits the bill. I'll be able to buy them new at $130 off contract and am looking to upgrade from a Galaxy S 4g, mostly because they're having some hardware issues.
My goal is something less than $150 and I think this is the best Android option I'm able to find. I'm mostly considering this or a Lumia 521 (no need to warm me about WP8 ).
Also, if you guys still suggest buying a Blaze, could you also recommend a rock solid ROM (stock is a valid option if y'all say it's good) that won't require regular tech support?
Many thanks from a Nexus/AOKP guy!

I recommend getting this phone! It's amazing. Especially with all the new ROMs we are receiving from the amazing developers on here! A good solid ROM is Dirty Unicorns (my opinion) but it would vary among other users. Always read the bug list though. Its fairly stable now and I'm sure most of the bugs are squashed. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask this spectacular community!

this phone is good and bad.
figure out if you need the size. If you don't want to go larger, this is about the best phone you can find.
There are some restrictions though. This isn't one of the mainstream CyanogenMod phones so doesn't get updates as fast as some others, even older ones. Also since it's been orphaned by Samsung, we probably will have a kernel problem within the next few generations of OS.
Also. The tiny internal storage has been a problem. Mostly this means you have to use a SD card and then install a 3rd party Camera app to allow for storage to the SD card, which can't be done automatically. I'd suggest Snap Camera or Camera JB+ for this (both $).
I have one with a cracked screen that I'm selling for $50. It's on T-Mobile right now though.
I wouldn't pay $130 for it since they are going on Craigslist for about $90 in good or near new shape. But I'm okay buying and selling used and do it regularly so that's a factor.
Overall. I'd go with a SGS II instead of the Blaze if size and the small price difference isn't a big deal for you. The SGSII has similar specs and a larger screen but with better XDA support as well as a lot more people out there with them, so the community is a bit stronger.
Just my not so humble opinion.
Just bought this phone for $130 new from HSN for my mom (her very first smartphone). What's the latest official update for this phone, I know it at least has ICS correct? Is it still stuck on that or has it been officially updated to JB? Thanks guys!

You're stuck on ICS unless you go aftermarket. They've stopped releasing updates for this phone. That said, ICS isn't too shabby.

Regular
I'm in the same boat as mackster in that I bought it on HSN and am now waiting for the shipment... on the bright side it's not for my mom.
I'm not one to spend as mush as I might on a laptop for a phone so this will be a step up from my Exhibit II 4g from two years ago. Faster processor and larger screen... I'm happy with that for $129.00
I've rooted and tried various roms on my Exhibit so I'm scannig the roms availalbe here now. If anyone has already done the heavy lifting I'm open to suggestions for your opinions on the best rom. My needs in order of importance are:
1. STABILITY
2. Battery life
3. Photos (and ability to save to external DS)
4. Bloat removal (in rom if possible)
4. Wi-Fi calling still functioning
5. Root would be nice (i have many apks)
6. Mapping (aka driving directions) works
I see many roms listing problems with the compass and the camera. I guess I would like a newer version of droid but if ICS meets all of my above needs then I'd be perfectly happy with that too.
Anyone have suggestions?
I have a feeling that you should be looking at mature ICS ROMs. I don't have the phone so I can't say for sure, but that's my gut feeling based on your requirements.
If I remember right, you might want to stay on stock ics. Wifi calling is a no-go on jb. Not sure if it's up and running on jb 4.3, but know for sure it's not on 4.1.2.

I don't think WiFi Calling has been ported to any non-stock-based JB ROMs for any devices. Definitely not available for general use.
Thanks for the replies... I don't suppose there's a bloatfree stock ROM like I had found for my Exhibit? Otherwise I guess it's time to dust off Titanium and start freezing/uninstalling bloat

There are several AOSP-based options. I can't vouch for the quality of them so you'll have to play with them to find out. But I'd stick with what seems like mature ICS offerings though.
Where is this thank button... I don't seem to see it.
