AROMA Edition
I have released my paid app that will let you easily unlock your phone with a native Android app at the touch of a button! If you have trouble using my free unlock methods the app will be able to unlock your phone even if the unlock code did not work.
Check the app thread for more info: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2243585
I've been meaning to make a foolproof script that works in AROMA and in any ROM/Kernel combination. This project provides just that, a zip file that's flashable in recovery that gets you your carrier unlock code easily and quickly. No need to install extra apps or mess around with hex editors on your computer.

Initial AROMA Release
-- Unlocker script modified to work in a cwm/twrp recovery environment

woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow thanks FB

Worked beautifully on CM9 with TWRP! Thanks so much FB!

If anyone can test this on gingerbread roms that would be great! Thanks. Please reply here with what rom/kernel/CWM (or twrp) version you were using.

so easy you are awesome using heb miui good job thanks

I just tried this with stock GB, AntonX Basic with a Twist kernel CWM v5.0.2.8. When I flash the unlocker it brings me through the FB splash screen to the "Press Next to continue" screen. Once I press Next, it kicks me back into CWM. I've tried this multiple times with the same result.

On Valhalla Black FB CWM voodoo Lagfix Recovery v5.0.2.7. Goes into the AROMA Unlocker, I press next and it returns me back to the recovery menu. I think I'll try TWRP unless you say otherwise.

Yeah I didn't test much in GB. Thanks for the reports guys. I'll try to flash to GB soon to check what's going on.

Using slim ics with pimp my Rom tweaks, kg4 modem and jefe kod v3b kernel....the first time it just rebooted my phone, did it again and it gave me the code. Awesome job Fb.
Sent from my Slim ICS ultra modded Galaxy S 4G

It worked awesome! Updated to CM 9 and it worked like a charm! Thanks!

Hey FB, Im running the latest AOKP release with TWRP and i couldn't get it to flash. It kept telling me it failed with no explanation and only 3 options; wipe cache, reboot system, home

Hi, I need some testers for the unlocker android app I'm making.
I need people who can verify whether or not a phone has been locked/unlocked (this means that you'll need a working non-tmobile sim card)
Make sure you have a backup of /efs before you do anything else!
Please come by #teamacid for more details, here are the instructions on how to join our channel:

Worked like a charm
This was the method that worked for me after the other method gave me an error message saying" Busybox was not installed correctly......"

I am running the stock firmware with a slightly modified kernel and CWM-based voodoo Lagfix Recovery v.5.0.2.7. I used an inactive AT&T sim card. My carrier is T-Mobile and it appears to
be unlocked, although I haven't yet verified it through using an active AT&T or any sim other than T-Mobile.
Thank You FB for Your Magic Again

i have the same kernel with stock rom and root ..... all it does it once i hit next ... it kicks me out to recovery screen

You can always try the script that uses busybox and smanager which doesn't require you to be in recovery and I have tested under gingerbread

[FROYO-ODIN] Leak USCC Mesmerize Froyo EA11 Stock + Root

So here's what Samsung has been sitting on for the last few months..

I present to you an 'official' build including the kernel, radio, and full-blown froyo tastiness, for the USCC Samsung Mesmerize. Pre-rooted for your convenience, just download and flash with the latest version of ODIN. These are stock images plus root so your phone will function as if you just turned it on for the first time, albeit with a finger that magically instills root powers into any device you touch..
README
Step 0.5: I recommend disabling the Voodoo Lagfix before doing any of this. You need your sdcard partitioned normally. Let me repeat: Disable the Voodoo Lagfix if you are using a Voodoo kernel prior to flashing the Odin files.
Step 1
Download ODIN here: Odin v1.3
Step 2
Install the Samsung USB drivers: 64bit | 32bit
Step 3
WARNING: These files are for the USCC Samsung Mesmerize. Do NOT flash these to another device.
Download the ODIN package: USCC Froyo [ODIN]
Step 4
Unzip the ODIN package and you will find two files. One ends in tar.md5 This is the ODIN package that you will flash to your device. The other file ends in .pit. This file is a configuration file of sorts for your device. It is not needed unless you have trouble.
Step 5
Backup the data on your device. You are going to lose it.
Step 5.5
Backup the data on your device. It is not coming back.
Step 6
Open up ODIN. Load the tar.md5 file into the PDA section.
Step 7
Put your phone into download mode. The easiest way to do this is to issue the "reboot download" command from adb. If you don't have adb installed, simply download the attached adb.zip. Extract the files to a new folder and open up a command prompt in that folder by holding down shift then right-clicking inside the folder window. There will be a menu entry "Open command window here". Select it. Then, type "adb reboot download" (no quotes) and press enter. If this fails you need to turn on USB debugging on your device and try again. Settings>Applications>Development:Enable USB Debugging
For more information on ADB I strongly recommend reading the "ADB Workshop" by Adrynalyne and Captainkrtek.
Alternatively, you can power your phone off. Hold down the "Volume Down" button and plug in the USB cable (make sure the other end is plugged into the computer first).
If all is successful, you should see a yellow triangle around a hard-working android and the words 'Downloading... Do not turn off target' (also in yellow).
*Step 8*
Once your phone is in download mode it should pop up in ODIN. Once ODIN has found the device, make sure you have the tar.md5 file loaded in PDA from step 6, and press START! ODIN will begin flashing your device. After a few minutes it should reboot into recovery, flash some text, and reboot again into Froyo! If all goes well, the white box in ODIN will turn green (=
Troubleshooting
Lag or low quadrant score: re-flash using the .pit file
Odin doesn't recognize your phone: install the Samsung USB drivers and reboot
Odin says checksum failed: re-download package and try again
Looking Forward
That's all! You will need to setup your phone again like you did when you first got it. While annoying, it's worth it! Once you have everything setup you're good to go. Check back periodically for Froyo ROMs and customizations. There are already some on the way and many more coming since Froyo has been out for awhile -_-

Not sure. It's probably just as unsafe as using wireless tethering without a contract anyway. I'll look into it though.

If we flash this, is there a way to return to the stock ep1f kernel easily? Like a cwm flashable zip?
I want to test but only if I can revert

I wouldn't use this on froyo, it's a kernel specifically for EP1F Gingerbread, you'll just get yourself caught in a boot loop.

[Q]: Rogers Infuse, Won't install CMW, no recovery file in /system/bin

Hey, I'm a total noob but I have been diggin around. Rooted my first phone after bricking it a few times before installing this, which finally unbricked my phone leaving it rooted: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193927
but my problem now is, when I try to install modded 3e recovery by replacing the old recovery file(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091465) in /system/bin I find it that there is nothing there, instead the recovery file shows up in the root folder... which is pretty messed up.

I have tried replacing the recovery file in the root folder and placing it into the /system/bin folder, nothing seems to work... It could have to do with the cracked version of Root Explorer I have... but that seems unlikely as the recovery file is simply not where it's spposed to be. And as expected, it still checks signature rendering me unable to install CMW (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107881)
I have resorted to other methods such as the one described by this user:
JOJO_SSC said:
1. Flash to stock Rogers UXKG3 Gingerbread packages (rooted) with odin packet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193927
2. Install SGS kernel flasher from market or apk file.

But my phone gets stuck at the samsung screen and starts speaking in a robotic voice saying something about not enough room in system partition...
I have also tried to flash this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092021
which comes with the modded 3e recovery... same issue, except I was able to get into the recovery mode once, and it was indeed CMW, but after factoy resetting and clearing the cache it still gets stuck at samsung screen and a robotic voice comes on saying the same thing.
If anyone has any idea or could point me in the right direction, it would be much apprecieated.
Thanks
The easiest thing to do is put your phone in download mode while connected to Odin and flash the community kernel from the superthread....this will give you red cwm ....the voice you are hearing is voodoo lagfix activating...wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache....format system and data...fix permissions and then flash your desired rom....
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
every time I do it my phone seems to brick.
...EDIT: nvm fixed it, forgot to disable lagfix
Nice. Glad i found this. you disable lagfix by putting the Voodoo file on ur internal sd right? the one with disable-lagfix? or should these b deleted ? ugghhh

I can't remember offhand but if you Google disable voodoo lagfix or search in the QA thread, you should get some hits. It wasn't hard from what i remembered...empty folder or somthing like that...also can be disabled in cwm...there's a voodoo lag disable.
Important to keep straight rfs files system from voodoo. You'll boot loop...i found that out the hard way.
Disable lag fix before flashing community kernel. Or be bootlooped.

Ive done this ,also disabled lagfix. still no recovery file in system/bin ....

Then I also tried deleting the Voodoo file, reboot... still no recovery in system/bin... its on my root as first posted by jakjak
sorry people don't seem to read the title. don't use community kernel that's froyo. use the kernel in the Rogers root thread, infusion gb a2, hellrsiser, or entropy dd. if you have already rooted then sgs kernel flasher creates less confusion because you don't have to worry about what form the package is in. it can flash .tar.md5, .zip and other package types with or without internal folders.
since its having trouble with the lagfix create /sdcard/Voodoo/disable-lagfix
the V in Voodoo is capital and all others are lower case. disable-lagfix can be either a text file name or an empty folder. it just look for the path, not anything in it.
then you will have red cwm and be free to flash whatever.

This binary has made it possible to easily flash all these items and is used almost everywhere behind the scenes (i.e. in custom recoveries, packaged into a kernel /sbin directoy, included in custom ROMs, etc).
Description:
This android application, FlashImageGUI, is basically a GUI interface for the linux binary, flash_image provided by google in AOSP for loading custom kernels and recovery images onto the phone.
This app allows the flashing of kernels and custom recovery images in normal android mode!
Current Device Support:
Full Kernel (Anykernel and boot.img) Flashing and Recovery (zip file or image) flashing: Sprint Galaxy S4, International HTC One, T-Mobile HTC One, Sprint HTC One, HTC EVO 4G LTE, HTC One S, HTC EVO 3D CDMA and GSM, HTC One XL, HTC Droid DNA, HTC Amaze, HTC Vivid/Holiday, HTC EVO 4G, HTC EVO Shift, Google Nexus 4, Google Nexus 10, Google Nexus 7, Samsung Google Galaxy Nexus, Nexus S/Nexus S 4G & LG Optimus
Full Kernel, Logo and Recovery flashing: Samsung Moment, Transform, Intercept and Acclaim - the s3c6410 series of devices
Full Kernel (zImage) Flashing: Samsung Epic
Check application version for updates
Future Support:
Let me know if there are any issues. Feel free to post the encountered issue and a link to the exact file that was flashed. Thanks for the support!
Install Directions:
Install process is the same as any other .apk. Download to computer and adb push or mount sdcard on computer and copy over or download directly to the phone. Use any file manager, adb, connectbot/terminal emulator to install.
My preferred method, maybe a bit technical: ./adb install c:\downloads\FlashImageGUI.apk
Download Locations
Market (99 cents!): Flash Image GUI
Release version (free): Flash Image GUI

Any questions, comments, concerns, or issues, please post in this thread or send me an email! Thanks for all the help and support!
FAQ:
Q: Will this app support a marketplace to pick and chose kernels from?
A: No.
Q: Can I flash nandroid kernel backups?
A: Yes. Rename the specific image to boot.img and select from inside of Flash Image GUI. **Make sure to also load the associated modules or WiFi might stop working!

Feedback:
Please post any helpful feedback. I'm always looking to improve the application!
Users Guide for flashing ONLY a Kernel (zip file):
1) Ensure the bootloader is unlocked and root access is properly setup
2) Make sure the selected Kernel is compatible with the currently loaded ROM. If not, this will result in a lot of frustration!!! See troubleshooting steps below.
3) Download kernel zip file to /sdcard.
4) Open Flash Image GUI, browse and select kernel zip file, downloaded/loaded to sdcard in previous step.
5) Flash Image GUI will validate the kernel zip file is contains the minimum required files
6) Select the Flash Image button and Flash Image GUI will load the kernel and the kernel modules from the source kernel zip file.
7) Reboot
Troubleshooting after Rebooting:
First step, when experiencing issues flashing is to RE FLASH the files again. Many times, re flashing again will clear up any issues. If not, see the issues/solutions below.
Issue #1: If the device hangs or reboots while on the splash screen, the kernel itself or the ramdisk packaged in the kernel is NOT compatible with your device!!!
Solution for #1: Have to boot into fastboot (or directly into the custom recovery) and load the custom recovery to flash a known good kernel or restore a previously known good nandroid backup. Command: fastboot boot c:\downloads\cwm-recovery.img
Issue #2: If the device hangs or reboots while on the boot animation, the ROM is likely NOT compatible with the kernel!!!
Solution for #2: Have to boot into fastboot and load the custom recovery to flash a known good ROM/kernel combination either from a zip file or restore from a nandroid backup.

Good question and there is one main reason:
1) The Sprint bootloader isn't locked, but the Verizon bootloader is locked. They had an exploit, Loki by Dan Rosenberg, that bypassed the locked bootloader, but I think the latest OTA (ME7) patched the exploit.
And as a side-note, although this is a moot point until the bootloader is unlocked, I haven't had a knowledgeable tester yet for the Verizon/ATT versions.
Thanks for the support!
I rooted my Sprint S4 using Towelroot a while ago. Discovered this app just a few days ago. Since Sprint S4s have an unlocked bootloader, can I simply download a TWRP recovery .img to install a custom recovery through this app? If so, I can then install custom TW or AOSP Roms from here on out correct? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

If both of these conditions are met, then yes, you can flash a recovery using Flash Image GUI. Otherwise, the Android security model prevents applications distributed through Google Play from independently gaining root access, it must be provided for the application. Thanks!

Thanks so much! It has been a while since I tinkered with a phone (Galaxy Nexus was the last one) so please forgive my noobiness. How can I check if my bootloader is unlocked or not? Thanks again.

A bit outside of the scope of Flash Image GUI and this thread, but off the top of my head: My understanding is that programmatic methods vary by device and manufacturer. The most reliable method is to boot into the bootloader and it should visually indicate on the screen whether or not it is locked.
Hope that helps!

Also knox trip correct?
Thank you sooooo much
@TEKHD can you add a recovery flashable OK2 baseband too please.
Edit - WiFi password not sticking on reboot.
Awesome! Thank you!
Can't wait for a bloat ware removed version.
Ditto on the flash able baseband
WOW that was FAST!
Many thanks for that.
Might you be willing to upload an odexed version? I don't care about theming so the vanilla setup is just fine. Cheers.
This ROM is AMAZING! Thanks so much for breathing life in our phones
Feature wake up the edge screen when phone locked (swipe the Edge green left then right) is dead.

That has been removed by T-Mobile/Sammy in this 5.1.1 - not something about this particular ROM

I'm stock and on the last T-Mobile update, and I still have the ability to do that, I don't think either T-Mobile or Samsung removed that from the software.
Sorry, then I'm mistaken...

As I said - i just saw in another thread that someone was also complaining about the 'Edge unlock feature' that has been removed by this rom. (" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64130770&postcount=14 ")
Then I guess it HAS something to do with this modified ROM.
I will anyway spend time this weekend installing this modified ROM and test and report back.
I am also planning to flash the SAMmy stock rom, root and report back on that.
Sorry if I created confusion.

I wipe: system, data and cache before I flashed with TWRP 2.8.7.0
I got a "zip signature verification failed 1" error.
Nothing wrong with the zip, I can open it and extract the contents.
Did I miss anything pre-required?
Thanks

I just flashed it. Coming from the Note 4 port. I did factory reset 3 times then flashed. Nothing else. First thing I tried was video call and it worked.
Seems pretty smooth but I haven't downloaded all my personal bloat yet. lol
EDIT: Well I was on it this version long enough to play memory game and tiny burgers on the edge. Backed it up in case I need an edge game fix and am back on the Note 4 port elite!
Still get the Error "Zip signature verification failed"

I re-downloaded the file and check the MD5 values on the SD-card - they match. There is nothing wrong with this status of .zip file.
What are you using to falsh it with?. As I said - I used TWRP 2.8.7.0 - maybe that is the problem??
Ideas are welcome, as I would HATE to goto the stock rom and not have root.....
