HELP! VZW Galaxy S3 drops from 18-20% battery to empty! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I've had the Galaxy S3 for a few months now...I haven't changed anything lately and never had this issue before!
Well...For the past 2 days, my phone drops from about 18-20% battery life to empty, nothing in-between...It just suddenly turns off and I can't turn it on until I put it on the charger...When I turn it on, the battery is completely drained and it's gotta charge before I can turn it on...It even shows this straight drop in my battery stats chart!
Please help...Thanks in advance!

Sounds like you just might have a bum battery. If you've got another one try experimenting with it, if not that's what I suggest. See if a new battery fixes it, if not I'm not sure.

I had this issue and downloaded Battery Calibration. This happened to me a few days in a row. I recalibrated after a full charge and issue has been gone since.

Battery dead
Same thing happened to me today, calibrating the battery seems to have fixed it, for me anyway. And if i'm not mistaken it doesn't actually calibrate the battery, it just aligns it with the ROM so that it reads its level correctly. Someone correct me if that is incorrect.

Biased

Thanks guys, I'll try that too!

Battery stays a 100%

DOnt understand this, i'm on stock rom and after a full charge, the battery stays at 100% until i reboot, then it drop to the correct reading. The battery is calibrated. Anybody has a fix?
This seems to be a recurring problem for a lot of folks on this and other forums. I've even had it happen to me a couple of times. I'm not sure that there is a definitive answer as to what the problem is but I think there is at least some consensus that it is a battery issue.
What has worked for me (and it seems for others too) is to do a battery pull (as opposed to just a reboot), and that usually clears it up. At least for a while.
pull the battery while the phone is on?

If you turn off the phone then pull the battery out what good does that do? The phone is already off... so yes, complete a battery pull while your device is powered up.
Fairly detailed thread already in progress on this topic....

Help getting battery to charge to 100%

Hi There. I started having trouble with battery usage. Some services were using SO much power...battery would last an hour or two. It had been a good while, so I went ahead and wiped the phone and flashed a new rom. I was on CM10, now I'm on SlimBean 3.1.0 (also CM10).
I have a few batteries, and just replaced a third party one with actual an Samsung. Using new or old battery, they charge to 75% and stop.
I'm pretty sure they're charging all the way..once I start using them, it'll stay around 70% for a WHILE before droping below that.
I'm guessing there is some combination of draining/charging/resetting stats, but I have not found it yet. I tried resetting stats when the battery was full (at least.. around 75% and not increasing). Maybe I should drain it and then reset? I'll try that next...
Has anyone been through this with a Blaze that can offer some clues?

Craaaaap. I thought I had moved out of the dev forum. I'm retarded. Thanks for pointing that out.
Try pulling the battery, sim, and sdcard.
Let phone sit for about 5 minutes.
Pick up phone and hold the power and volume buttons for about 30 seconds.
Place phone down for another 5 minutes.
Put sim, sdcard, and battery back in phone.
Charge for about 30 minutes to an hour.
Turn phone on and let charge completely.
It's best to do this with a battery that is less than 50%.
Don't allow your battery to die completely if you can avoid it.
This trick also helps with laptop batteries.
NEVER, drop your phone in the toilet no matter how pissed you are at it...
Good luck, hope this helps, and next time make sure you are in the right section please.
Thanks. I'll try this.
Ugh...embarrassed. Will do.

[Completed] Galaxy S3 randomly turns off and can't be turned on until it's plugged in

Ok so I have a galaxy s3 gt-i9300, which is about 20 months old, and it started to have this problem a month or so ago. The phone was running a kit Kat cyanogenmod rom, and it was draining the battery somewhat faster than the stock rom, and one day the screen started flickering at around 30% battery, which followed by the phone turning off itself. It can't be turned on until it's plugged in, and when I do so, the battery is at 0% charge, so I figured this was a battery problem and I replaced the battery for a new, original samsung battery. I thought this would make the trick. But I didn't, so my last thought was to return to stock software and this didn't solve the problem either. This always happens to me in every single charge at around 30%-40%. The rest of the charge lasts as long as expected, so the phone basically uses 60%-70% of a charge. I'm all ears for solutions to this and I also want to know what is causing it
Hi,
Unfortunately, it sounds like a hardware issue to me. In any case, you need to ask such questions in the Samsung S3 i9300 dedicated forums which can be found here:

Good luck mate!

Replaced Battery and Now BatteryStats is not workiong

I recently replaced the battery in my one and ever since I have not been able to accurately monitor my battery. The battery percentage does not accurately indicate how much power the phone has. When the phone powers off and is turned back on the battery percentage shows 100%. The phone only lasts a few hours before it powers off and has to be powered back on. I'm currently running CM 12.1 nigtly's rooted and unlocked bootloader. The phone will die but when I try to turn it back on it takes two attempts and then turns on and shows 100%. I've tried all kinds of battery calibration apps and methods but nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry about that. Should I delete one of the posts?
My phone is lasting about 2hrs now with minimal use before having to be turned off and back on. When back on the battery shows 100%. Any help would be appreciated since I'm ready to throw this phone out. The lack of support from the company proves they are not ready to release products and don't care about their customers.

Having battery woes

Hi there, I'm new here. I have a HTC one m7. I've had it for over 2 years now. I am running into a problem with the battery life. The phone is not rooted.
Numerous times over the past few months I have taken my phone off the charger and went about my day. I was using it on my break if was at 80% is went to 78 quickly. Then beeped at me flagged the red light and turned off. I couldn't get it to turn on so I plugged the charger in and it light up saying the battery was at 21%. Yesterday it did the same thing from a full charge to 60%. Is there any answer to this issue because trying to use the camera or even look at a any news or face book or game is making the battery just drop and I never know when it is truly fully charged any more.
Thanks

If ur battery is about 2 years old, it's tym to replace it with a new one
U can simply give a try by calibrating it...
Okay thank you, how do I give calibrating it a try is there a app or something. I hope to upgrade as soon as I'm financially able too.

There are simple to use battery calibration apps but that isn't your issue.
I'll go ahead and save you the goose chase, just replace the battery, its cheaper than upgrading to another device. 99% sure that is the problem because of the symptoms you describe.
Okay thank you I'll start researching what I have to do to replace the battery
