Replaced Battery and Now BatteryStats is not workiong - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently replaced the battery in my one and ever since I have not been able to accurately monitor my battery. The battery percentage does not accurately indicate how much power the phone has. When the phone powers off and is turned back on the battery percentage shows 100%. The phone only lasts a few hours before it powers off and has to be powered back on. I'm currently running CM 12.1 nigtly's rooted and unlocked bootloader. The phone will die but when I try to turn it back on it takes two attempts and then turns on and shows 100%. I've tried all kinds of battery calibration apps and methods but nothing has worked. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry about that. Should I delete one of the posts?

My phone is lasting about 2hrs now with minimal use before having to be turned off and back on. When back on the battery shows 100%. Any help would be appreciated since I'm ready to throw this phone out. The lack of support from the company proves they are not ready to release products and don't care about their customers.

Great he opened this thread, i have the same issue as you, tried everything, return back to stock, battery calibration, but nothing helps.

Did you start using Sensation right away after opening it or charge it first?

So, I've had my sensation for a week, it was nearly perfect. But I wasn't sure that it was the best unit, cause battery was used fairly quick, GPS kinda weak, and a slightly washed out screen. I took the 14 day advantage I had at Walmart, and just today headed out there after work to grab the last unit they had! I called like 5 diff. walmarts but only that one had one unit.
Even the box was in such pristine condition, compared to the one I bought earlier, even though both were new. The first box had a date of 5/27. This new one has 6/3, so I'm hoping the June units might be better. Both Taiwanese. I haven't even opened my new Sensation yet, feel excited all over again
Anyways, to come to the point, how did you all start using you new phone, did you just take it out, turn it on, and use it? Or kept it off, charged it all the way, then use it? The reason I'm asking is cause the first one I had, I kept it off and charged it all the way. During that process, the phone got extremely hot towards the bottom, I mean hot like I've never ever seen in any phone before. And it pretty much stayed that way for atleast 2 hours straight. I'm thinking that I maybe messed up the battery up, cause too much heat can damage them. What do you guys think?
Edit: Another thing on my previous phone: the battery gauge was wacky. I would use if for hours and it would stay at 100. Then suddenly show like 85 or something.
usually I will leave it off and charge it fully before using it. This time I turned it on right away, let it drain then charged it fully while off. I've only had my sensation less than a week so really cant ccomment on battery life. When you first get a phone though battery life will be worse because you play with it tons when you first get it
Charged it before turning on & it never got hot
Yeah, mines seemed like a fluke, I've never had a phone do that before. This time, I'm thinking that I'll prolly turn it on before charging just to be safe.
My first two, I did. This one I used right away and today it's been unplugged for 11 hours and I'm still at 47%
I play with it until it fully dies, then I let it charge all the way; for the batteries sake. It last much longer that way.
I couldn't wait for it to charge completely.
I wasnt even out of the T-Mobile parking lot before I had my sim card in it and was messing with it lol.
Could you please tell us how your new phone is? I'll update my post when I check my box for the date but my battery does heat up and my power button is the slanted one.

also what panel is it?

Exactly....that's what most all manufactures recommend. I didn't notice it in the Sensation's manual, but I know I saw it in my G2X's manual.
For the last 5-6 devices I've had, I always run it dead from the box, then let it fully charge to 100%. As far as I can tell that really does help either calibrate the driver or condition the battery. I also do that pretty much every time its convenient.
I've never just charged it straight from the box.
I've always had great great battery life, under heavy use, for every phone I've had using that method.
I really don't know how important it is, but I know I've never had any of the battery issues that it seems many have with various devices.

Great advice, however I wanted to ask you that when you charged it back to 100% the first time, did you keep the phone off all the way? Also, did you perform any kind of a hard reset on it, and if you did, at what point?

I will surely report that info as well as panel info tomorrow after 7PM, as its late, and I havent opened the box yet. I was still trying to figure out the best way to start using the phone, as I didnt want to repeat the mistake I made last time.

No, I let it die...plug it back in, turn it on.
Some people do factory resets out of the box....I never have (out of the box)...
I get easily a full day, 14-16 hours, with consistent use. WiFi always on, gps on when needed, tons of web activity, light gaming, 100+ texts, dozen or so calls. That's pretty normal.
The Sensation seems to go from full to 90% in a hurry, but then really levels off. No idea why, but it's undeniable with mine. Also, this phone is by far the best I've ever owned when it comes to idle power consumption. I'll regularly leave it unplugged while asleep and it might go down 5% at most.
That's my experience.....hope it helps.
Hoggles, thx so much for your insight. So after reading quite a few pages on other forums, especially the IPhone ones, I think I'm gonna fire it up and drain it & then charge it fully while its off. Now the only thing to figure out is when to factory reset the phone, as soon as I first turn it on, or after it has fully charged? Also, when fully charged, is it best to unplug it and then start it, or start phone while plugged in, and then remove the power cable once it comes up?

I really don't think ya have to get that nit picky...as far as when or how to unplug.
Pretty simple and hard to go wrong....
Out of the box....use it til it shuts off on its own
Plug it in....
Turn it on if ya need to receive calls etc...
Let it charge to 100%...
You're Golden
Repeat whenever you have the time...once, twice a month works for me.

If somebody helped here, go back and hit the thanks button. It's a small gesture, but it lets the poster know you really liked it
I'm also use it out of the box until its battery drain and warning indication come out. Then I charge my battery.
I facing a weird condition during charging, where its goes up to 80 or 90% fast, but then to reach 100% very slow. It took 3.5 to 4 hours for my phone to reach 100%!!. I already use my phone for 15 days.

This is the "proper" way to condition a Li-Ion Battery. it's best for the battery life during every day use and into the long term. Ideally you should use it until it get's down to about 2-3% then charge fully, and repeat at least 2-3 more times. Your battery will thank you for it.
I had started to think that this tried and true method was NOT working on my sensation and then today, almost one week precisely after I'd gotten it I saw a huge, noticeable difference in battery life over the first 3-4 days.
Condition your batteries people! You and your phones will thank you for it!
I got the phone at Walmart the first day it came out and used it then charged it all the way.
Phone got very hot and I can not get it to last more than 6hrs on a charge no matter what I try.
(No GPS No WiFi No extra apps......you get the point)
Trying to return the phone to Walmart but they don't have any.
Something is definitely off her but I don't know if it's the phone or the battery.

Battery stays a 100%

DOnt understand this, i'm on stock rom and after a full charge, the battery stays at 100% until i reboot, then it drop to the correct reading. The battery is calibrated. Anybody has a fix?
This seems to be a recurring problem for a lot of folks on this and other forums. I've even had it happen to me a couple of times. I'm not sure that there is a definitive answer as to what the problem is but I think there is at least some consensus that it is a battery issue.
What has worked for me (and it seems for others too) is to do a battery pull (as opposed to just a reboot), and that usually clears it up. At least for a while.
pull the battery while the phone is on?

If you turn off the phone then pull the battery out what good does that do? The phone is already off... so yes, complete a battery pull while your device is powered up.

Nexus 5 sudden crash

Running kitkat, battery recently replaced. all good for a month.
Yesterday the phone suddenly switched off , i switched it on again and the battery had jumped down about 40%.
It crashed again but then remained stable for the rest of the day.
Tonight (at 50% battery remaining) i got a sudden warning "6% battery remaining" and it crashed again, i switched on again and the battery went back to normal , around 40%, stable since.
Any ideas or is the phone on the way out ?
Did you buy an official N5 battery? It looks like a faulty battery...
This is the one i ordered

Thanks for the help.

It can't do any harm but it won't help in this situation.
Try the following:
1. Let the battery go to 5% then charge your device to 100%
2. Disconnect the cable
3. Reconnect it and check if the battery level is at 100%. If not keep charging. If 100% disconnect and reboot. Then reconnect until 100%
These steps worked for some users (even if steps 1 & 2 should be enough IMHO).
Moreover you can try to remove apps or flash the factory images to check if the problem persists. If nothing works then your last attempt is to send it back to ReplaceBase.
thanks for taking the time to reply, will try your suggestions,
Just had another strange battery drain, captured it on this screenshot.
You can see battery just takes a sudden dive and recovers somewhat.

I have just read a nice thread about massive battery drain. Check this out.
His explanations fit with your battery stats.
Thanks for that, will have a browse, but would it explain my phone suddenly dying at 50% ?

I guess. Anyway you should follow the above steps and clean up your device by removing useless apps/features. Finally flashing factory images is sometimes a good thing to start from scratch.
Thanks again
I just tried your first suggestion, charged till 100% then disconnect, it immediately dropped to 99% so i recharged to 100%
Then disconnected and rebooted, weirdly when the phone rebooted it said the battery was now at 19% ,
Back on charge again.
Ugh.... Good luck but I would bet on a faulty battery. You'll probably have to send it back if you can use the warranty.
Did you have the same issue after receiving the new battery? Did you change several things of your setup (kernel, new apps...)?
Going from 100% to 19% can't be explained by the above thread. IMO no apps, no kernel, no software can explain this drop. Some folks say that it can also be caused by the motherboard...
Replacebase have promised to send me out a new battery , they too think its likely a dodgy battery, top customer service so far, hopefully it wont take too long to arrive.
I didnt change anything on my phone, perhaps updated some apps , its stock Kitkat,,, meanwhile Is there any way to check the health of the motherboard ? i don't like the sound of that.

Without profesionnal tools we can't check this AFAIK. Don't worry about the motherboard. It was only a suggestion reported by a few users. Chances are your problem will be solved after receiving the new battery.
ok thought as much, battery charged up to 100%, rebooted and now at 60%.
Ill put back in the old battery for now and see how it behaves. thanks for you help

Dies at 20 percent, charge for 5 mins, turns on again is 29%

So my Moto X dies at ~20% charge, which is bad, but not entirely surprising for an 18 month old phone (despite the fact that I rarely use it, which is disappointing and continues to reiterate my point that Motorola QA, before or after Lenovo, sucks). The strange thing is that if I plug it in then, the charging screen on the screen off shows 1%, then 2%. If i turn it on then, the boot is normal, then on lock screen, it shows 25-29%. Any fixes?
try calibrate battery, it happend to me a lot of times and after calibrate doesnt happend, only when i change rom
Update, phone is now being very wonky. See graph for details:
I have the same issue
Same problem here. Xt1097, started 3 months ago. Already wiped battery, delete files, completed charged and discharged. Nothing works. I was running stock when first happened, I changed to custom and the problem persists.
Mine does the same, except at around 14%. XT1095
Same here (xt1097), around 10%. Already tried to calibrate without any success.
Any thoughs on this ?
Same issue here at about 15%. Pretty annoying. Is there any way to adjust the kernel to adjust shutoff voltage or adjust battery so is shows 15% as 0%?
Reporting on the same problem, I'm running CM13

The battery is dying. There's no software capable of fixing this. Replace it.
I solved the problem with a clean instal of stock rom and take the OTAs. I used the phone without root for some days and I completely discharge it, when it shut down I recharged the phone keeping it powered off , when it was charged I turned on the phone and then rebooted it, then I unplugged the phone (I did a battery calibration). After some days I rooted again (latest supersu in systemless mode) and flashed xposed (systemless version 86.2), but I didn't restore all my xposed and rooted crap. Battery life is still quite poor, but the phone didn't shut down at random percentage... I don't know if the issue was caused by some app or root method, maybe restoring stock rom helped, before doing all this stuff I tried just to calibrate battery but didn't solve the problem.
I know it's not really a solution, but I found that activating the system battery saver around 20% helps getting down to 10% without the thing turning off. I haven't tested below that yet.

Battery dying fix
1. Shut down Moto
2. Hold volume down and power button
3. Clear dalvik cache
4. Let it charge to 100%

Having battery woes

Hi there, I'm new here. I have a HTC one m7. I've had it for over 2 years now. I am running into a problem with the battery life. The phone is not rooted.
Numerous times over the past few months I have taken my phone off the charger and went about my day. I was using it on my break if was at 80% is went to 78 quickly. Then beeped at me flagged the red light and turned off. I couldn't get it to turn on so I plugged the charger in and it light up saying the battery was at 21%. Yesterday it did the same thing from a full charge to 60%. Is there any answer to this issue because trying to use the camera or even look at a any news or face book or game is making the battery just drop and I never know when it is truly fully charged any more.
Thanks

If ur battery is about 2 years old, it's tym to replace it with a new one
U can simply give a try by calibrating it...
Okay thank you, how do I give calibrating it a try is there a app or something. I hope to upgrade as soon as I'm financially able too.

There are simple to use battery calibration apps but that isn't your issue.
I'll go ahead and save you the goose chase, just replace the battery, its cheaper than upgrading to another device. 99% sure that is the problem because of the symptoms you describe.
Okay thank you I'll start researching what I have to do to replace the battery
