[Q] Convert MB865 to ME865 - Motorola Atrix 2

Hi pels, i got an Atrix 2 MB865 international. I mean, not-AT&T
So, i was trying to convert it to ME865 to flash MIUI, and also, have the 4GB internal storage.
So, if i flash an ME865 firm into my MB865, will this convert the model of the phone?
In case of flash the firm, i will flash one of these firms, The retail china, or The retail Hong Kong:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934874
A person that i just met on Internet told me that he did that, but, i don't know if i can trust him.
Btw, in case that i want back to ICS, what should i do with that fxz? I don't know how to use it. The first time, when i installed miui, and want to go back to ics i flashed de ics leak, but that hard bricked my phone. And i have to pay to they can fix my phone. They changed the motherboard. Or at least that what they told me.

I can't install it. I flashed de firm with RSD. The phone reboot, everything ok. Starts the boot animation, the 'M' logo, with the waves. Then, the animation stop, and the 'M' logo is static. And, stays like that. I left the phone for a while, because i know the first boot takes a litte bit more time, than the other ones. But, i left it like 10 minutes, and nothing happens.

Of course. Thx again ^^

Every time I try to flash the China firmware, it just fails the flash damn near instantly. Do I need a specific version of RSDLite or something? If possible, could someone link me to everything I need? (except the firmware, the OP posted that )
I don't know if it matters or not, my atrix 2 is the at&t variant.

If languages needed first flash with RSD-Lite 5.5.1-EDEM-28-37-MEARET_cfc.xml then OTA leak Blur_Version.55.28.37.MB865.MERetail.en.06.zip make a cwm-backup, flash again 5.5.1-EDEM-28-37-MEARET_cfc.xml, final mearet OTA and restore cwm backup.
Finally you have all languages from list, newest kernel and radio, it works fine. Activating desired language with Morelocale2 from market..

A CWM backup will only work if you are currently on ICS. This will not work if you want to upgrade from GB. If you wish to upgrade from GB you MUST install this through factory recovery as the ICS update also has new kernel tweaks and such which aren't saved in a CWM backup.
You will most likely brick if you try to install CWM backup of ICS while on gingerbread.
Be careful here guys.

1. Mobile odin, however I've personally never used it. There are probably guides out there somewhere how to return the phone to stock.
2. You may still be under samsung's warranty period, they don't care if your phone is rooted and will fix hardware problems. They will flash the most recent stock rom and firmware they have to your phone so you'd have to re root it.

I have not tried the mobile odin app (did not know it existed). I will try that and post back results in a little while. Thanks everyone
Its pretty straight forward. It does cost you a few bucks but its always nice to have and support a great developer.

Thanks for your help I was able to get a usb connection enough and I used Odin on my laptop. The only problem I have now is that the custom unblock symbol appears when I boot up the phone. Any idea how to remove that now that root is gone? Ignore the following words...my phone won't let me edit them out. Thanks again.
Edit: it looks like the file I used was a 4.0.4 image. For return purposes is it fine if it's the older version? There should be no signs of root now. I'll keep checking for updates though

I would, if you have an ics rom they will be able to tell something is off. It should accept an OTA update. If you can odin again, use the vrblk3 image and accept the ota to vrbmb1. It may not be updating due to to the jump from ics to the most recent base. That will make sure you're completely back to stock, with a locked bootloader, and a stock recovery.

I can only find 4.1.1 files...and the link posted earlier in the thread doesn't work. Any idea where to find a 4.1.2 version?

Atrix 2 ROM questions

I'm wondering what is the benefit to using a custom ROM on the Atrix 2? I've been eyeballing the dirty unicorn ROM, but honestly the stock ROM seems to work well enough. With my kindle fire it was an obvious choice as I hated the stock ROM, but other than a few missing features the Atrix 2 seems just fine. What's you guys thoughts?

more options, less bloatware, runs faster, and more stable, actual suupport that you dont get from motorola.
along with a cleaner look, but thats all opinion.
Basically the same reason for all devices. Stock just sucks.

If you like stock ICS, but are considering a custom ROM then you should try NUMA.
It's still ICS, but it's a huge upgrade from the Motorola ICS, and because it is stock based it's the only custom ROM that has all the hardware features working. That said, since the breakthrough with Kexec, I have flashed every JB ROM here and they're all great in their own respects. My advice to you would be to try them all. You're sure to find one that suits your needs.

Couple of more questions, first up: what's Kexec? Next: if I flash a custom is it possible to go back stock? Last up: does flashing a ROM effect your unlock status? I would hate to lose that.

My knowledge of Kexec is limited but my understanding is that it is a way to load a custom kernel on top of the stock kernel. This is needed because the locked bootloader prevents us from simply overwriting the stock kernel.
Yes you can flash the FXZ via RSD lite to return to stock. You'll need to find the FXZ that is specific to you're phone ESPECIALLY if it is an AT&T branded phone. Just make sure you know your phone's model number and firmware version so you can find the correct FXZ.
No, flashing a ROM will not have any effect on your carrier unlock, and neither will flashing an FXZ.

Just did some looking at numa. Looks good on paper, I like Ics so I don't think I'll upgrade to jellybean anytime soon. So numa it is when I decide to flash. But it looks like I need to do my homework on flashing the Atrix 2. that locked bootloader seems to be a pain. I don't need a bricked device.

Honestly if you follow flashing instructions in the op of rom threads, chances are very slim that you will brick. Soft brick, maybe, but those are easy to recover from. My rule of thumb, titanium backup everything before flashing a rom,

Just flashed numa and I'm very happy with it so far. It seems to be really stable so far, and allot of the extras are nice. Like the toggles in the notification bar. Thank you everyone for taking the time to answer my questions, it really helped.

If you can not answer these types of questions on your own then you have no business flashing anything as you will most likely get yourself in trouble. What you need to do is read, read, read, read, and read and learn the answers to these questions for yourself. All the information you need is readily available and easy to find you just have to look for it. Step by step instructions are listed in the op of every ROM so there is no need to repost them all here. The only short cuts with this phone almost always lead directly to bricked phones. Also, "best ROM" inquiries not allowed because the answers are subject to user experience and therefore varies from user to user. What is good for me may not be good for you.

You probably flashed the ROM which had to be flashed only via BMM. Do an fxz and flash ROM using BMM.
Btw which ROM did you flash?

You can only flash GB ROMs if your stock firmware is GB. If your stock firmware is ICS, you can flash any ICS or jb ROM. That's probably what your issue is. Just reflash your FXZ, root, install Boot Menu Manager and try one of the ICS or JB ROMs. Make sure you read the instructions thoroughly this time to avoid any more problems.

Is boot menu manager compatible with GB stock ROM..... I saw a video tutorial they said its only for ICS or JB

I doubt it. If you're on GB then you probably need this instead:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1606257
And if you are on GB, then you can only flash the ROMs that are meant for GB. They are kind of old, though, and no longer supported.

MB865 AT&T ICS4.0.4 already flashed but still stuck on Motorola logo

The phone was stuck on Motorola logo and I flahed it using RSDLite and the FXZ InlineFlashing_Edison_67.21.125_CFC_P3_APBP.xml.zip. Everything went ok but still frozen on the logo. Please help.
Get the latest RSDLite I think its version 6 or something and run the fxz again.

Already flashed three times, on another pc, with different data cable and different RSDLite version and nothing. Why is this happening? Do I have to go back to GB first and then flash ICS?

No you can't go back to GB you will hard brick your device. There is another method of flashing created by altered search for that and also disable your virus guard before flashing.

Is possible to downgrade AT&T ICS 4.0.4(AP Fastboot Mode (S) 0A.72) to GB? My phone is stuck on M logo and I've flashed it almost ten times and nothing. Always tried flashing this fxz: InlineFlashing_Edison_67.21.125_CFC_P3_APBP.xml.zi p
AFAIK GB's bootloader version is 0A.72 too, isn't? So I suppose I can downgrade safely.
You cannot go back to GB, your only solution is get ICS up and running. Did you search for the flashing method without using RSDLite? There is a thread on this by alteredlikeness try that method, also make sure you have at least 50% battery.
Here I dug up the link for you: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36834775&postcount=108
All credit goes to Altered hit the THANKS button on his link.

Ok can we take this offline. I have a few ideas and we test a few things out and look at some options, but I don't want to clutter this thread with troubleshooting questions and replies, we can post what we did and the outcome once we know what to do next and what we did.
I just sent you and the OP a PM. I just need to establish some information before I make any recommendations of what to try next.

help please

My apologies for your soft bricking, I did put a warning that it would, but I guess I needed to make it more obvious.

I can't follow you on what your problem is, but if you're still speaking about the Liquid Smooth 4.4 then the latest one does in fact work on system 1 now.
Did you manage to fxz it back to stock ICS, or do you know what we mean by fxz? It's simply using RSD lite to flash your region-specific Atrix 2 sbf file for Android 4.0.4 if that's what you were on at first. Is your phone AT&T or something else? We're you on ICS kernel on system 1 or JB?
