[Q] TW Weather widget did not change time to reflect daylight savings. - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I've restarted the phone, refreshed the app, looked through all the settings, but it continues to be an hour ahead. Ideas?

That is odd... Mine did not change either but all I did was refreshed that app and it was fine try removing the widget restarting the phone and then putting the widget back... Also make sure that in your Date and Time settings Use Network Time is checked... I am not real sure that applies to this app though as I think all the info is based on Accuweather... If the above does not work check your GPS are any of them on? Maybe if it can't get a good location lock that has something to do with it.

Always Awake

has anyone else noticed that if you go to the battery usage on the S4G it shows the phone as always awake? check the graph. it's really strange!
perhaps this could be linked to some of our heat/battery issues? the phone is not sleeping correctly?
You have a rogue program that isn't shutting down. Now you need to figure out what it is.
When I had this it was VTOK since that program never shut off.
Go to Settings> Applications> Running Services and look at the times that everything has been running and try to figure out which one doesn't belong
HTC watch can be a culprit too

I practically uninstalled every application that had an associated service, disabled everything from startup that I could find and the issue persists.
The only way I can get it to not be always awake is if I disable data completely... not background data, or autosync, but all data. no 3G, no 4G, no Wifi, nothing.
As soon as wifi comes on, I get a "sync" circle in my status bar (despite the fact that all sync is disabled on my phone), and the problem returns. The only active connections are to Google IPs (as shown by a netstat from the terminal), looks like gtalk/market ports...
I'm stumped.
I'm going to update the market, see if that helps.
EDIT: it didn't.
Just an update:
Downloaded ATK from the market, there seems to be a lot running for a phone I just rebooted.
I killed everything one-by-one, none of them made the sync icon go away.
There was only one that I could not kill... Watch.
... it also has a service that will not die either....
but if it's watch, surely someone else out there has the same issue?
HTC watch was the issue with mine, it took some time until i figured it out

it was. I disabled the account and rebooted a few times.... I'm good now.
very strange. And for some reason, when someone said "watch" I thought of a clock.... ha. that wasn't any help.
No, the video application. turned out to be the culprit. ffs.

[Q] Circles Weather not updateing

I am wondering if anyone else has seen this. I have had my phone for over a month, and love it, normally DO NOT like widgets but I must say Circles is cool. So I have been running circle widget since I bought the phone, and have had no issue. One NIGHT about 10pm i unlocked my phone to see the weather in my area was SUNNY and 40. As I looked out the windows, I would say moony but not sunny. After further looking, I found that if I turned of use location in the weather settings, and put my city there, updating worked fine. I don't mind this, but I like the use location cause as I travel from place to place, I have a quick look at the weather for where I am as opposed to having to change cities. Any Thoughts? I hopped that the JB OTA might fix this, but it did not seem to.
I noticed my maxx hd doing this same exact thing a few days ago. It normally works great and updates very quickly but the last few days its been getting stuck for some reason. A few reboots seemed to straighten it out for now.
Sounds dumb, but try pulling that widget off your screen, and clearing app data/cache in app manager. Reboot, then put it back on. Sounds like it could be a cache error.

Date & Time resets after battery swap

Soo.... I'm guessing there's no good solution, but posting anyway..
Suddenly, whenever I do a battery pull (frozen device or just swapping batteries) .... when I boot the phone back up, the date/time has reset to sometime in 2006 at 6:00pm...
I have the checkbox to automatically update date/time checked in Settings... this happened with CM7 and is also happening with MIUI now..
I downloaded an app to auto-sync date and time, but it doesn't kick in until several minutes after bootup if at all... so whenever the clock is fixed, all sorts of apps are affected - anything that tracks by date thinks 7 years just passed! Alarms go off, app alerts go off, etc..
I suspect this may be a capacitor/small battery used for keeping the time, inside the phone going bad ... anyone else had this happen to their g2x? Am I wrong in suspecting there's no fix?

Actually this happens to me everytime I swap my batteries, but date and time always correct themselves once the sync with a network, for me usually under a minute. I don't have any app issues though because of the incorrect time at start up. Very odd.

Talkback notification won't go away

For some reason, the talkback service has decided to tell me it is activated even though it is not. I have a persistent notification that won't go away. Since it's a system service, there is no way to just hide the notification. Any ideas?
Clearing the cache and rebooting didn't help either.
Did you ever figure this out I have the same problem on sprint. You can't even disable the Talkback app.
Nope. I did a factory/hard reset last night. Still the same issue.
I haven't installed any apps I didn't have on my GS5, so it can't be an app's fault. Going to do an exchange at the AT&T store in the next day or two. I'm not getting stuck with something like this.

This would be a workaround (if it does work), but try tapping and holding on the notification, and then click on the "i" icon to see which app is displaying the notification. If it's a stand-alone app (i.e. not the Android system), then you should be able to block notifications for that app.

Thank you, but it is the system app doing it. I'm just going to swap for a different S6 at the store tomorrow. Got my app data backed up to the cloud thanks to Helium.
The messed up part is it literally happened right when I got my phone. I'm gonna try a factory reset then if not try to get it swapped out
@dizzymatt Still have it? It mysteriously disappeared for me today. I was literally going to go to the store this afternoon to exchange this thing. Maybe I got lucky or sensed I was coming!
Afterward, though, the oddest thing happened. I was looking through the store for a different Google product and came across this one called Google talkback. I thought that was very weird to find right after I had had this issue. When I clicked on it, it allowed me to uninstall it. Never saw it in my apps list or the application manager, but there it was. Again, this is after the notification went away from me so I have no idea if this is related.
Here is the link. Maybe uninstalling it will help you.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.marvin.talkback
Seen what you said and I didn't have the app installed but it just disappeared for me too after I rebooted my phone I wonder what it was.

Now I'm wondering if it was related to Google Now since the notification and the ability to say "Ok, Google from any screen went away about the same time.
Disabling Talk back
I got stuck on a 15 minute hell ride when I accidentally turned on my Talkback feature on my new S6. I couldn't turn it off even after toggling the stupid settings. I finally was able to turn it off by tapping the home screen button three times.. apparently that is the On/Off switch for the accessibility features. After it finally stopped talking back to me I went in to manually toggle the off button on that ridiculous feature.
Same problem / solved ?
I had same problem with notification
Decided I would try enable, so that I could then disable
Seems to have done the job

I am having facebook messenger problems

Hi everyone.
My wife has an S8 and recently she has noticed that she hasn't been receiving notification on Facebook messenger.
Me thinking it was an easy problem to solve went into the phone setting clicked on notifications and found that the notifications for the app were all on how they should be.
Then I went into the app settings and checked there and everything was right.
Then I restarted the phone and it still wouldn't work.
Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still no success
I even got my phone out an S7E and checked how the settings should look on mine and hers matched my settings.
All her other apps are working except this one.
Am I missing something here, because it doesn't make any sense why it's not working. I performed a stock flash on the device about a month ago to 3 software, so she could have wifi calling but I don't see how this could of affected this one app and none of the others.
If anyone has any suggestions here I am all ears because I am out of ideas.
Make sure that it's not being forced close by the S8's onboard memory manager... sometimes it shuts down apps and you won't get notifications. Double check in the battery settings (you can get there from settings or the swipe panel) to see if the Messenger app itself is active.

Hi people, I seem to have solved the problem.
I followed the suggestion and went to the battery setting. In those setting there was an option for unmonitored and monitored apps. When checking the list of apps that were in these setting everything was right, including the messenger app in unmonitered app section. I removed it from that list and didn't bother adding it back.
Tested.........and it worked....I even got other people to message her in different situtations and it worked and still works.....not added it back in to the list yet, as long as it keeps working I prob won't
