Noob with a drive to learn and in need of some help.
I attempted to install stable release of CM7 thru CWM on my rooted G2x, still stock everything, OS 2.3.4. Pre-install I backed-up current ROM, wipe data & cache and wipe dalvik cache. Rebooted into recovery and it looked as tho all was well... However, my phone wont go any further than the second "LG" boot logo, (I'm thinking is packaged in CM7). Nothing I've tried yet has fixed my situation. Not even allowing me to enter manual recovery so I can restore my back-up.
I'm hoping someone could please tell me what I did wrong? And also, what I can do to fix it?
Did you flash CWM using ROM Manager or NVflash?
If the answer isn't NVflash, you need to search the forum for that and use it. Then try to install a ROM

Since it's getting harder to find here is the link to the CWM thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24087341
Follow the instructions there and you'll be good to go. It says XP but I have never had a problem on Windows 7.

First....update Clockwork
then...wipe data/factory reset (in Recovery)
then...wipe cache partition
then...flash it once more and if it does not work try re downloading the ROM because there is a possibility some important files are corrupted...

All of which was available by doing a search ^
You can also add try a different rom to the above list.
I have done all on that atleast twice. I had just redownloaded the rom last night

this is a ext3/4 rom Is your sd card formated properly? If its version 6.6 ( the latest) try using version 6.5 first as this will format the sd card for you.. back up your sd card first just to be sure you don't lose your information. in CWM mount the sd card and copy to computer.. Hope this helps.
Already stated previously but worth another try. Install another ROM, maybe one that is almost stock. Then try Coredroid again.
I also suggest you ask in the Coredroid forum. Good luck.
Ok thanks ill see what i can find out over there

are you flashing through rom manager or cwm ?
I have the same issue, i used rom manager, did the wipe.. and its just stuck on the animation loop.
If anyone could help, it would be appriciated.
Thanks
Found it.
Thanks
Got it going, I did a recovery, then updated with coredroid v7.0.. Works very well.. no problems here.
By the way, I'm digging the new layout.

So, I tried to root this phone and I used SuperOneClick and successfuly rooted it.
Afterwards, I downloaded ROM Manager and installed the nightly 53 from Cyanogenmod 7.
I checked Wipe Data & Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache;
Afterwards, it went to the clockwork recovery; (the orange screen) installed it successfully from the SD card;
Afterwards, Cyanogenmod didn't boot correctly and got looped so i had to pull the battery; then restarted;
it loaded correctly but welcomed me with a series of force closes;
THE PROBLEM:
1. wi-fi doesnt work; when it restarts, it resets all the accounts and settings i've worked on;
2. the orange clockwork recovery mode won't start; instead, it goes to android system recovery <3e>; at that; there are four options that i can go up and down to wipe data/factory reset and all those options
but cannot click on the option; the power button doesn't do anything; the home button makes it disappear;
3. when i go to the terminal; su doesn't work; it goes permission denied;
rom manager won't restart into flash recovery to install new nightly;
so what have i done? what do i do?
I would just like to go back to stock;
Why don't you try posting this in the nightly thread or read a little. Your posting in the wrong place.

I'm guessing you won't be able to, but try turning on the phone by holding the power button and volume down. There's a chance this will take you to recovery, at which point you can wipe and re-flash.
Technically, rom manager only does a "fake" flash of cwm, so that's why it probably will not.
Otherwise, you can probably use adb somehow, but that's outside of my knowledge.
Had the same issues, but you shouldn't use nigh builds as your main rom. if you do use build 105
cm 7 gone wrong
Did you do nandroid backup? If so boot into cwm recovery and restore it ,if you didn't go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274 follow the directions if you still have issues you can pm me.
If you can access ROM manager try flashing recovery
If I helped in anyway feel free to thank me
Did you install cwm using nvFlash or rom manager? If you didn't install cwm using nvFlash you will need to do that first. Using rom manager is only a "fake flash" for our phone and the recovery is only temporarily installed.

Read the nightly thread from around when 53 came out. Several people had this issue, myself included.
Solution is to just flash a different nightly on top of 53.

Got to use NV flash that will fix your problem

yuppp that nvflash is the first step, never use rom manager to flash cwm, im my opinion rom manager is garbageeee, i never use it
Thread moved to proper forum.
Ok I am new to this phone and have done a lot of reading and have already flashed 3 roms on my phone and I set up the Flash Clockworkmod Recovery the real one and not the rom manager version. For some reason I now get a Error when trying to format system to flash another Rom and when I go to wipe dalvik cache it does not even let me go into to wipe that is there something I'm missing I have not see this problem with no one else.
Are you shouting down your phone and turning it back on holding power+volume down. Don't use rom manager to reboot to recovery it may be taking you to the fake cwm on your memory card.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Perhaps try re flashing cwm with nvflash

It's weird the only way I'm able to flash a rom is when I go into rom manager and I go to backup rom through there.
It sounds like the real recovery didn't flash. Make sure you install the apx drivers correctly and check in device manager that your pc sees the phone.

Follow this topic you might have installed an older version I believe the first few we had did that. Make sure you shut down and use (power+volume down) to get to cement it is much safer.
Also are you try the factor reset in cwm or trying to do the advanced- format system. The advanced- format system requires you to first mount the system to do so.

Basically the situation is a friend rooted his G2x and flashed Eaglesblood v5 (Just some extra info, not sure if relevant)
This is right after he rooted, but he forgot to make a nandroid backup AND he's stuck in a bootloop; apparently he can't access recovery either.
Any way to get out of this predicament? Or is he stuck with a brick..
Thanks!
P.S.
I'm pretty sure he should be able to access Recovery..
Well first things first, the only way to brick this phone is to hit it with a brick. Lol, anyways, lets see what we can do. He should re flash (nvflash) the recovery back again. It doesn't matter if he's in a boot loop, we've all had them. Next, he should boot into recovery, take note I'm doing this off of the top of my head, and if he wants Eaglesblood he should follow the EXACT installation instructions that the eb team has given. What happened was that he probably didn't wipe his data. I had many boot loops, and I never nandroid backup, don't need it, if you're careful.
I've never had to reflash a recovery, but try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
that will get him into recovery for sure, and then he can install a rom as instructed by the developer(ie wipe data), without boot loop. Idk if he knows, rom manager recovery doesn't work, it seems he is new.

Alright thanks, I've bootlooped a few times but recovery ALWAYS worked for me so I wasn't too sure what to do, figured NVflash would be the key; thanks again.
Yeah, sorry tried to fix the link from an archive to a thread, but I'm doing it from my phone, its a little hard to do lol. This should work though as it will get you into recovery.

No matter what custom rom I try to load on my G2X, it will go through, install the rom, and then when it reboots past the LG screen, it gets to whatever custom boot screen in on the rom, and just locks up. The only way I can get it to boot after that point is to NVFlash back to stock.
Tried searching through this site and google, but can't find a solution.
You need to say what the process is that you attempted to do. Wipes and what not.

Rooted phone, added Clockwork, booted into CW recovery, did data and cache wipes, installed CM7 from SD card, rebooted, phone froze at custom boot screen. Reboot, still frozen. Would not boot at all.
Used NVFlash to reinstall stock image on phone, rooted phone, CW recovery, data and cache wipes, installed a different rom for my phone model, same result. Back to stock using same process, tried a third rom using same process, same result, frozen phone that won't go beyond boot screen.
Using this same process on my old T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant, it worked perfectly on several different roms.
It sounds like you may have a ROM for a different model phone. Can you send a link to the ROM that you downloaded for us to see?
Also, is your phone a T-Mobile G2x or an LG Optimus 2x (O2x).

It is a T-mobile G2X, LG-P999DW.
The CM7 link was straight from the CM7 site, it wasn't an experimental mod or anything, it was the stable one listed under the G2X.

Considering cm roms are supposed to wipe system prior to flash, I couldn't imagine what is going on. Try wiping system just in case and after that, try installing from internal as well. Other options would be download other ways, like on PC or from phone transfer the files differently. Other then that can't really help you.

The last time I pulled it directly on my phone, the other times I downloaded via my PC and then copied the file. Had been via external so I tried internal that last time too. I'm close to madness, but I'm also too stubborn to give up.
I was thinking maybe I need to replace the kernel, but I'm not sure whether that's the problem or which Kernel to try if I did need to.
I had a similar issue on a tablet of mine. What version of CWM are you using? Are you using the touch version? The touch version has had some boot problems. Did you try partition the SDCard in the advanced settings? I forget which I used on my phone. Has anyone else partitioned theirs?
Well, not knowing which peice is broken let me just recap my process for you and see how it works:
1. Use OneClick NVFlash from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847 and select Flash CWM 5.0.2.0
2. Boot to CWM
3. format cache
4. format data
5. format system
6. format Dalvik cache
7. flash ROM from external/internal memory
8. flash kernel (optional, not required unless doing kernel testing)
9. flash gapps-package
10. fix permissions
11. reboot
I have not had this process screw up once for me so far. If this process does not work for you then you leave me really be scratching my skull...

don't root and then try. mostly roms come with super user access so try without rooting it manually.
