Ok I am new to this phone and have done a lot of reading and have already flashed 3 roms on my phone and I set up the Flash Clockworkmod Recovery the real one and not the rom manager version. For some reason I now get a Error when trying to format system to flash another Rom and when I go to wipe dalvik cache it does not even let me go into to wipe that is there something I'm missing I have not see this problem with no one else.
Are you shouting down your phone and turning it back on holding power+volume down. Don't use rom manager to reboot to recovery it may be taking you to the fake cwm on your memory card.

Perhaps try re flashing cwm with nvflash

It's weird the only way I'm able to flash a rom is when I go into rom manager and I go to backup rom through there.
It sounds like the real recovery didn't flash. Make sure you install the apx drivers correctly and check in device manager that your pc sees the phone.

Follow this topic you might have installed an older version I believe the first few we had did that. Make sure you shut down and use (power+volume down) to get to cement it is much safer.
Also are you try the factor reset in cwm or trying to do the advanced- format system. The advanced- format system requires you to first mount the system to do so.

So, I tried to root this phone and I used SuperOneClick and successfuly rooted it.
Afterwards, I downloaded ROM Manager and installed the nightly 53 from Cyanogenmod 7.
I checked Wipe Data & Cache, Wipe Dalvik Cache;
Afterwards, it went to the clockwork recovery; (the orange screen) installed it successfully from the SD card;
Afterwards, Cyanogenmod didn't boot correctly and got looped so i had to pull the battery; then restarted;
it loaded correctly but welcomed me with a series of force closes;
THE PROBLEM:
1. wi-fi doesnt work; when it restarts, it resets all the accounts and settings i've worked on;
2. the orange clockwork recovery mode won't start; instead, it goes to android system recovery <3e>; at that; there are four options that i can go up and down to wipe data/factory reset and all those options
but cannot click on the option; the power button doesn't do anything; the home button makes it disappear;
3. when i go to the terminal; su doesn't work; it goes permission denied;
rom manager won't restart into flash recovery to install new nightly;
so what have i done? what do i do?
I would just like to go back to stock;
Why don't you try posting this in the nightly thread or read a little. Your posting in the wrong place.

I'm guessing you won't be able to, but try turning on the phone by holding the power button and volume down. There's a chance this will take you to recovery, at which point you can wipe and re-flash.
Technically, rom manager only does a "fake" flash of cwm, so that's why it probably will not.
Otherwise, you can probably use adb somehow, but that's outside of my knowledge.
Had the same issues, but you shouldn't use nigh builds as your main rom. if you do use build 105
cm 7 gone wrong
Did you do nandroid backup? If so boot into cwm recovery and restore it ,if you didn't go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048274 follow the directions if you still have issues you can pm me.
If you can access ROM manager try flashing recovery
If I helped in anyway feel free to thank me
Did you install cwm using nvFlash or rom manager? If you didn't install cwm using nvFlash you will need to do that first. Using rom manager is only a "fake flash" for our phone and the recovery is only temporarily installed.

Read the nightly thread from around when 53 came out. Several people had this issue, myself included.
Solution is to just flash a different nightly on top of 53.

Thread moved to proper forum.
Ok yes I am a noob at this and after much searching I have not found an answer to my question so I decided to make a thread.
Can anyone explain to me the process of flashing mods to your ROM? More specifically do you have to wipe data and everything to flash a mod to your ROM or can you just flash it on top of your ROM and keep it moving ?
To flash a mod usually you download a file in. Zip form. You then flash it in recovery the same way you flash a rom. (Install zip) make sure you know where the file is external or internal. Wiping anything should not be necessary unless the dev specifies. And you flash it at anytime after the rom has been installed. Check versions and make sure its compatible. Hope this helps

Beast to wipe cache and Dalvik immediately before flashing the zip.
But, most important (other than reading the flash instructions) -- Nandroid BACKUP -- with CWM Recovery prior to flash so you can restore your ROM if you don't like, have issues etc with the mod just flashed.

Sorry, you are incorrect. Flashing certain mods and apps you should most definitely.

I stand corrected
Recovery
Most mods (if not all) will require root access and a custom recovery tool like CWM and 4EXT. To get the recovery tool the phone will need S-Off mode enabled (Security Off). If you are on 2.2, S-Off wasn;t around then so you shouldn't have that problem, but startgin with 2.3 it was introduced, so you will need to get S-Off in order to get the recovery tool installed.
Getting into Recovery mode is another thing that depends on your phone. My Samsung uses Power + Volup and Vol Down togheter, then Vol Up plus Vol Down after it turns on forseverl aseconds. I have an HTC that is the same, but just with Vol down (no Vol up required). Of course to do anything there you need the S-Off plus root plus custom recovery tool.
You can also get a USB driver and adb (plus dll) toolkit to access the phone via yoru USB cable (this requires turning on USB debugging under phone settings). From there you can get into recovery by issuing commands in DOS.
> adb reboot bootloader
You can even flash some img files (mods) from the command line also ...
> fastboot flash radio radio.img
and then reboot the phone to normal
> fastboot reboot

You should never use ROM manager, it is mich better to use NVflash. Did you flash anything llike a rom or sumthing from the LG Optimus 2x (LG-P990)?

As told above, don't use ROM manager.
Here is a link for the recovery you will need:

Once you have the recovery sorted, do a full wipe in CWM.
Factory reset, format caches, system, format emmc and SD a well.
Then proceed with ROMs, etc.

Don't format sd card or emmc unless you have some reason or need to.
Emmc is your internal memory card.

Normally I wouldn't advise that, however he flashed the O2X recovery before and messed up his partitions. So, imho the best bet to clean up the mess first.

your super!!! Thank you!!!
Noob with a drive to learn and in need of some help.
I attempted to install stable release of CM7 thru CWM on my rooted G2x, still stock everything, OS 2.3.4. Pre-install I backed-up current ROM, wipe data & cache and wipe dalvik cache. Rebooted into recovery and it looked as tho all was well... However, my phone wont go any further than the second "LG" boot logo, (I'm thinking is packaged in CM7). Nothing I've tried yet has fixed my situation. Not even allowing me to enter manual recovery so I can restore my back-up.
I'm hoping someone could please tell me what I did wrong? And also, what I can do to fix it?
Did you flash CWM using ROM Manager or NVflash?
If the answer isn't NVflash, you need to search the forum for that and use it. Then try to install a ROM

Since it's getting harder to find here is the link to the CWM thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24087341
Follow the instructions there and you'll be good to go. It says XP but I have never had a problem on Windows 7.

Not sure what is going on but here is how I flash a ROM from recovery and so far so good.
Copy rom file to external sd card in phone.
Do a full factory wipe, cache and dalvik.
Install rom.
Install Gapps if necessary or desired.
Wipe cache and dalvik again.
Reboot
Note that some roms will give you a recommended list of what to wipe if doing a new install or upgrade of that rom, if such instructions exist its best to follow those instead but the above has worked for me for a while now.

That's what is advised to do before flashing a completely different ROM anyway by some. From recovery, flash the ROM again, and if the ROM is not corrupted (check md5 or whatever comes with it), you should be good to go.
