Syncing Google Chrome Bookmarks with Stock Browser - Asus Transformer TF700

Anyone have an idea why my Google bookmarks are not syncing to my TF700T's stock browser? I am on CleanROM 2.3 with Clemsyn's kernel. I try and select sync on stock browser through the sync settings in system settings but it always tells me "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly". Which service does Google to stock browser sync depend on?

There was an issue that the bookmark sync apk was missing from the JB ROM, but that shouldn't be an issue on CleanROM...
It's also possible that the Google server is down for maintenance, but I would've thought that would effect more than the bookmarks...
I would try deleting data from the browser and Google Services Framework, and reboot, to make sure it's not something as simple as corrupt data...

I had the same question. Someone one the forum pointed me to com.google.android.syncadapters.bookmarks.apk. Ran it, went to the Google settings, clicked my account, checked sync browser, and synced my acvount. Bookmarks added.

Would you happen to have the apk still?

[Q] Stock browser bookmark refresh?

Hi, should the stock browser automatically update and refresh the bookmarks that I change in chrome? I synced them when I got my TF, and have since changed and updated some bookmarks on my PC, but the change hasn't been updated on my TF, how can I force the stock browser to refresh and update?

Hello,
I had the same question as you when I first got my TF1101, and I have noticed that my bookmarks indeed DO update. Just make sure that in the settings, under the "General" tab, after tapping on "sync with Chrome", that your primary Google account is selected. Then, on your desktop, make certain that sync is set up under the personal options. If it is, try turning it off and on again.
Edit: I'm sure you're a smart enough guy, but I thought I'd say this anyway: Make sure they're both syncing with the same Google account. ;-)

[Q] Browser didn't sync bookmarks

You should always manually backup your book marks anyway, even on my house pc i have it backed up sevral times on diffrent drives!
I hope you used a back program for the other rom!
The problem is not that i lost my bookmarks because i use the coustom rom.
i want to sync the bookmarks from crome over the cloud direct to the browser.
i'm having the same problem running prime 1.5, here's what i see in logcat:
D/SyncManager( 169): failed sync operation ***@gmail.com (com.google), com.android.browser, LOCAL, earliestRunTime 6351479, SyncResult: stats [ numIoExceptions: 1 numEntries: 1809]
today the tf sync some bookmarks, 5 of 100 i hope in the next days ore houres i get more. Did someone know if the issue is from google server ore from tf self.
Same issue without custom ROM.
Hello all,
I have a B60K that I can't seem to get the stock browser to sync bookmarks with. This was on the 3.1 that came with the TF along with the one from earlier today (Kernel 2.6.36.3-00011-g3eb19ec).
It worked fine on my old B50K (also stock, just with the previous 3.1 update).
I have tried Resetting the browser to default a few times along with deleting the account and setting it up so that I am only syncing the browser on the TF and only syncing bookmarks in Chrome.
An odd thing is that now the B50K TF will no longer sync. I had reset it to factory but not returned it yet. If I boot it up and just setup what is needed to sync the browser it doesn't work.
Below are a couple of messages I that helped me find this post.
Any assistance with the sync would be great. That being said, I would also be happy if anyone could point me in the right direction for just importing the bookmarks as a temp work around.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

I am stock 3.1 with latest OTA. The bookmark sync stopped working about a week ago, not long after installing Google+
I get about 50 bookmarks, starting fom the last ones, then sync fails.
Would love to know if anyone has fixed this.

I am getting the exact same thing on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 running rooted-but-otherwise-stock 3.1. I have tried deleting the account but that didn't help. Local problem (client) or problem on Google's side? Any known fix yet?
I am having this problem too today. US TF with latest OTA, unrooted. Looks like a server problem.
Workaround is to export your chrome bookmark into Dropbox.

Thank you and where should I put the bookmarks.
I am also not sure what to do once I get a bookmark folder onto the TF. While Dropbox will make it easier to keep them synced, it doesn't actually help those of us that are looking for a method of importing them into the stock browser.
Is the idea that it is just an html file that we call up with one long list of bookmarks?
In the interim, you could try chromemarks, it will at least extract all your synced bookmarks into the app, and you can launch from there. The dev noted that Google made changes to their db structure which required a fix on July 12. That's right around when my sync started to fail.
I haven't found a way to import into the stock browser. Looking forward to seeing this fixed.

Thanks mike5065. I tried chromemarks. Now I do have my Chrome bookmarks on the TF. That said, I need the full chromemarks version to integrate them into the stock browser.
Does anyone have any ideas for a free method to import bookmarks into the stock browser?

Don't buy the full version of chromemarks it can't integrate bookmarks to the tf browser.

Thanks for saving me (and it sounds like some others) some money. Does anyone have any other ideas?
hello all, and just wanted to share a bit of info I saw on the web--can't remember where. It seems Google changed the way it handles chrome bookmarks and sync sometime about a week ago, and that's why we can no longer sync. Hopefully an update will come that fixes it.
Wow, I just figured out some interesting things that might help clarify troubleshooting and apps for this issue for others as well.
There is a distinct difference between Chrome Bookmarks and Google Bookmarks. Further, they are not compatible. In fact if you want to import Chrome Bookmarks into Google Bookmarks you have to either do it via Firefox or a Delicious Bookmarks account. At any rate, Google Bookmarks seem to work fine syncing with HC right now. It is just the Chrome Bookmarks that are having an issue.
Here is a Google forum entry where they seem to be tracking a current issue with Chrome Bookmarks not syncing:
http://www.google.com/support/forum...ae&hl=en&fid=27043147d44d99ae0004a85d5169dc33
It may be a good idea if we start posting to that forum in order to (maybe) speed up any fix. It may add more urgency to the issue if Google realizes that the scope of the impact is greater then they thought.
Hope this is helpful to some.
Oh, on a quick side note, does anyone know if there is a name for the Honeycomb stock browser? Googling "Honeycomb stock browser" for this issue doesn't seem to help narrow down the search. It would be nice if I knew the name.
Thanks.
A bit update: if you go to settings->accounts & sync->manage accounts, click the up-right corner sync icon, you might notice the same thing as mine: all other sync are updated with the current time except the "sync browser".
The strange thing on mine is that part of the bookmarks are synced, but not all.
looks like it might be fixed, my bookmarks started magically syncing again today

No such luck for me. I did get two empty folders to show up, but nothing else. Are you sure you got all of your bookmarks? Can you check HC account settings to see if the browser has really finished syncing?
Thanks.

Calendar stopped syncing on TF700...

I use Google Calendar on all my devices, desktop and mobile. Recently my stock TF700 refuses to sync and shows only local entries - although I can see its entries on my other devices. I have other Android devices, for example a NookColor running CM10, and a Nexus 7 and the calendar syncing works just fine with them. Very strange. It used to work.
My Google account is set up correctly, and I'm driving myself crazy trying to find something in Settings that is different from my other devices...
Any suggestions?
Derek

Are you using the stock one or the updated one form google play. If the latter the sync breaks due to incompatibility with the asus sync app so you will need to uninstall the updates. Try that first.
If not try wiping the data on calendar from settings and forcing a resync from your google sync settings.
I use the update from the Play Store - you have to convert it to a system app to get it to work properly...

[Q] Stock Browser Bookmarks

Since flashing Cromi I have been using Boat browser but the other day I launched the stock browser only to find that my Google bookmarks were not there. I restored the bookmarks succesfully with Ti bckup and checked that Google sync was enabled. Today I launched the stock browser only to find the bookmarks were gone again. Any thoughts?

As long as you have the chrome bookmark sync adapter enabled it will sync. Mine syncs with my laptop chrome bookmarks fine and always has. Are you sure you haven't got another conflict? Or cache2sd or something?
Spoke too soon
I didn't wait long enough after installing Chrome. All the google bookmarks now show up in the stock browser. Thank you for the help!!
Still having issues
Each time my tablet power cyles the stock browser looses my google bookmarks and starts up on the Asus website. If I manually sync my google account they come back but only stay as long as I don't turn it off. I have reflashed to the same that5 kernel and then the hunds kernel, each without cache2sd. The only wipe that I do is Dalvik and cache after flashing. Any thoughts?
FYI
After a few different flashes I found my problem to be Browser2ram. As soon as I would install it the stock browser stopped syncing my google bookmarks. I believe a browser2ram script has been incorporated into the latest ROM so I should not have been trying to use it anyway.

Stock browser not syncing bookmarks any more

Good morning to all,
I'm writing here to solve am annoying problem I'm currently facing.
I have a Huawei G510 with AOSP MOD ROM, android 4.1.1.
I prefer using the stock browser as chrome is somehow slow on this device.
Everything went fine till two weeks ago
I started noting that some bookmarks I created on chrome with my notebook were not synced.
This is what I did:
- reset chrome sync from google dashboard and log in back to chrome on notebook, than sync bookmarks and everything else encrypting only password
- delete data from stock browser
- open stock browser, log again with my google account
- check if browser sync is active
- remove and readd google account
- sync everything again
The situation now is that in the stock browser I have only local bookmarks and not even one single bookmarks from my account.
I also tried chrome and it syncs everything so it's fine.
Does anyone have any clue?
Thanks a lot!
Any help?
The same thing happened to my Kindle Fire HD with CM ROM.
Why don't u try any other browser. Stock browser is not always the best option.
Thanks for tour reply!
Currently I have Chrome and it syncs bookmarks as wanted, but it's way too slow on my huawei.
I have also CM browser: it's fast and light but it syncs only importing from chrome!
So I can't find a solution...
I believe nobody has a solution to this...
