does anyone here know if the one x+ battery will be a direct fit into the one XL, the battery life is horrible on this phone and since they upgraded batteries and kept design same im just curious if we could benefit from it? i tried to search the forum but it wouldnt let me use the + symbol and i couldnt really search what i wanted

I laughed.
The battery is pretty good. I don't know what you're doing...
Something tells me that just because the size of the phone is the same, doesn't mean a bigger battery would fit inside the One XL.
I assume that the One X+ battery is missing some internal components, or they're re-arranged.
You can't increase the size of a battery without increasing the physical size.
Just my thoughts.
I get great battery life like a day of use out of my phone on aosp. Im at 11hrs now at 52%, my old phone had to be fully charged like 3-4 times a day.

Pretty decent, yesterday i had 10.5 hours with 4 hours screen time and i was at 33 percent(Stock). I do not know how you can say the htc one x battery life is horrible when it is more then what is said on att's website..

True but, what I posted above was moderately heavy usage so I think the htc one x has exceptional battery life with light to moderate usage 2-3 hours screen time a day the battery will last 2 days+ if used an hour screen time the next day, so i think the battery life is good, and im only on stock right now. With all these roms, battery life can be almost doubled probably with certain changes.
Any 'heavy' user shouldn't ever expect great battery life. That's common sense, unless you're stupid. That's like racing your car on a track and expecting great gas mileage.
Ok I can listen to music over a Bluetooth headset for a few hours and its gone, the screen not being cut on hardly any or doing anything else really. I'm running viper xl, I was just asking a question no need to call me stupid for getting bad battery life

Thats very odd, but i think he was responding to my post although i said i did fine with moderate usage. Mabye change back to stock, see how much you get compared to viper, or you can try reflashing. i could prob listen to music for a long time with screen being off on stock. I dont know how much consumption of battery viper xl takes.
I'm running ViperXL and my battery is at 26% right now. Took it off the charger 13 hours-ish ago. But I have easy battery app and mobile network turned off. Only turn it on when I am out of range of my WiFi.

i think battery life is awesome on this phone, Ive never had such good battery life with any other smartphone..
I dont think it needs extended battery.
I think HTC actually tried to eliminate battery drain before making a non removable battery.
I second that, getting great battery usage.

Mobile all the way
There will always be people who want an extended battery, but its really not needed unless you are using your phone to make 50 pho.e calls in a day or you play 3 hours of games. most people will be more than happy with the battery life provided by the One S.

no need for a Extended Battery here, where would the battery go if there was one
If you are in bad cell coverage (which eats more juice) or are a heavy user, pray god invest a few bucks into a Gumpack external battery. That thing is half the size if a pack of cigs and stores enough juice for 2-3 full recharges on the go. Its one little more gadget to toss into your daypack and remember to keep charged but its well worth the bother. Certainly easier than speculating about a bigger battery while batt life is fine for most users.
And I am not bashing, if you have a 1.5h commute to work and spend it playing GTA3 i can see where the juice goes. So a gumpack battery would be your best approach, with the current 28nm Krait architecture there is not a lot to gain batterywise really. Plus, the AMOLED sucks less juice on dark images, something to keep in mind when picking a background image I think.

Disclaimer: This method may have been due to the fact that my device or digitizer (I'll explain further) was damaged or I had a lemon. But here is my story:
- Sold an unlocked 4S for $450
- Wanted to try out Android and hate Sammy devices...
- Decided to give HTC One X a try
- Didn't have an upgrade so had to buy an unlocked international version because it released earlier.
With my international HTC One X from Malaysia, I would barely squeeze out 2hrs of screen time, and would have to charge my device 2-3x a day, and have yellow light leakage and spots around the screen. The device would get hot and had screen flexing and sensitivity issues. Right out of the box it was glitchy and the OTA's didnt solve much. I went from ROM to ROM to ROM and battery saving apps to CPU controls for a solution. I would literally drop 2-3% every minute, and sometimes in a matter of 5 mins I would drop 8% battery. I did the built in Battery test and would get 90% after an hour and it would say batter health = good. All of this to no avail, I WAS FED UP!
I was sick of it and found someone who wanted an International One X and had an AT&T One X. He knew about the battery and screen issues but decided to trade anyway.
BOY OH BOY! The difference is night and day. It's been a few days and I have never been happier with a phone. I get close to 4 hrs of screen time on the same level of usage on one charge. 3-4 hrs of music, 1 hr web browsing, texting and phone calls all day, facebook/twitter 2-3 hrs. No heat issues and no dropoff in performance even with just 2 cores. NO LAG or random reboots at all. If anything the device feels faster! While in hoboken/nyc the other day I got 4G LTE (since AT&T doesnt have LTE all over jersey yet) and it was freaking amazing. Close to the speeds I get with my FiOS connection at home.
Anything with Nvidia in it or on it I've ever owned so far has been faulty and been a nightmare. Idk if its just my badluck or coincidence.
But thats my story. I talked to my engineer buddy and he said my phone deff had a bad digitizer/screen that was eating the battery unnecessarily.
Anyone with their thoughts?
Yea S4 is more power efficient than Tegra 3 the only thing it bests the S4 is in its graphical capabilities

This is awesome to hear. At first I was bummed they changed the processor but this story exemplifies why.
The only other gripe I have about AT&T's decision making is the storage. But what can you do? I don't listen to all of my music anyways.
Not to mention the wifi (squeeze test) crap.
Glad we have the less problem ridden version here.
I've never been happier with a phone.

I made the switch just as you did because battery life was terrible on the Tegra 3, due to a VERY outdated kernel and 40 nm?? whereas I believe the Snapdragon S4 is at 28 nm and a more recent kernel. That really does make a huge difference. I usually just text, fb, and browse the web and with auto-brightness, auto-sync and widgets on I get ~ 4 hours of use whereas on the Tegra 3 I got about < 2 hours. I was just as fed up and disappointed as you were.
Re: battery, I will say this:
Only charge it on the charger it came with. Charged it s couple time on my Touchpad charger, and while it appears to charge up faster, the battery will "drain" faster.
I haven't even opened the charger it came with >_<
The S4 is pretty superior in every single way besides gaming, but even then the S4 is pretty damn awesome haha.
Glad to see you are enjoying it.

Not sure I understand how that would be possible. If the battery is fully charged why would it drain any faster if it was charged by a different charging method?

My perception just from observing the international One X forum, is that the Tegra 3 SoC on the international versions is glitchy as hell, causing various serious issues, and that NVIDIA is notorious for being slow to fix these sorts of bugs.

I have been getting 4 hours of screen time since I got my one X on Saturday. Pretty consistently actually. Usually right at 4 and a half. I use it sporadically at work, usually 2 hours worth by the end of the day.
Then when I get home I do pretty much the same thing, I browse XDA while I wait for games to load on PS3 or Vita.
I do not stream music or anything.
Sync files with dropbox.
Wifi typically on.
Screen with auto brightness enabled.
Minimal game play (I have a PS Vita for that but I occasionally succumb to Words or Temple Run)
My idle time can go up pretty high if I so choose but I will only get the 4.5 hour screen time on auto. Which is good for me since that's what I got on my Atrix with the brightness at minimum most of the time

Best I ever saw was 3.5 hrs screen on time by the time I was down to 50%. Probably would have gotten 6+ hours if I kept it going. That was with very heavy internet/FB/xda over a 6 hour period.

I was having awful battery issues. Itired all the fixes I finally got fed up an purchased a extended battery from mugen. It solved my issues completely. Now I have a battery that lasts for two days. If I'm using really heavy it's lasting about 24 hours. Yes it's the big battery 3800mah and yes my device is thicker from it but for me it's completely worth it. It still fits in my pocket and feels good in my hand. It was expensive but I was fed up with crappy battery life. So I paid the money. Honestly I don't regret it. I'm going to have to keep my phone for awhile any way so I might as well have a good lasting battery. This might also be an option for you? It solved my battery problems. Now I stay on 100%for two hours at heavy use! It's a give and take. You sacrifice the sleek thin phone but the battery life can't be beat. Sounds like your experiencing the drain like I was. Which CM10 ROM?
Wow...really?
My battery is lasting me over 24 hours now, I've never had anything like this before. However, it all depends on your usage. Your screen uses up the vast majority of your battery life, and I don't sit on my phone all day. I also set the screen as dark as I can stand it.

Are other builds giving you better battery life? If tried a couple of Bruce, I am now on mEMBER (based on bruce's ROM) and I've tried AOSP and AOKP. All of them showed pretty bad battery life, I cannot have the phone lasting an entire day. I think the problem is the deep sleep, as you can see from my top screenshot the phone is always alive.
Do you have same behavior? I am on bruce kernel 3.0.40 with BADASS

Does anyone know if we can do what the tegra one x users are doing and replace our batteries with the 2100mah one x+ battery? Looks like it should work from what I have been able to dig up, but not 100% sure. 2100mah One x+ batteries are going for around $35 on eBay.
Sent from the HOXL dimension of S-OFF
What exactly have you dug up? More than likely the increase of the battery size is a physical change.
From my research, the batteries are the same size across the X, the XL and the X+ except the X+ has a different chemistry (you can tell since it's 3.8V instead of 3.7V) so it holds 2100mah instead of 1800mah.
The XL doesn't seem to overheat as badly as the X does so we already get better battery life than the X. It seems the X+ battery heats even less so not only do you get more battery because it has more mah, it also lasts a bit longer because there's less heat.
I made a thread about this a month or so ago. One s people report no problems with it. Try it for us!

Nice! Report back on the battery life improvements when you get it back. If you have time, run Nova Battery Tester (long mode) after using it for a week to break in the battery.
I want to get the battery myself since I know it'll fit but I'm unsure on how much extra battery life we'll get on the HOXL since we already had less warm and better battery life than the HOX. There's also a small chance the HONE will have the same battery size again (with larger capacity) so I'm hoping for that too =D

I just got my battery today, and installed it... and it was a success!... kind of.. our internals are slightly different from the international One X, but the basic of the design is the same. You just pop the screen off, take off some screws, pull off the battery. Some of the key differences from the international one x is the plastic cover over the motherboard near the camera. it hides the screen cable and the volume key cable is also hidden next to the battery. I recommend pulling off the volume keys out when trying to take off the battery cable. they are glued onto the side and can be easily peeled.
I had my fair share of scares and had to open my phone quite a few times.... and as a result, the housing got bent and i ended up breaking the micro usb part of the housing. Not a big deal since I have my TPU case on at all times... I also managed to break the pressure pins for the wifi antenna... ended up using some solder and fixing that up... luckily i'm getting great wifi reception now.... be careful when prying the screen off near the left side... if u stick something in there, don't push in your prying tool too deep.... there are about 4-6 pressure pins on that side. but after all that, I got the one X+ battery in my AT&T One XL!!!!
I gotta run it for few days to see if it's stable enough... I really hope it's okay lol... but if it breaks I'm also due for an upgrade plus have a nexus 4 as a back up so no biggie

Do you have battery life stats yet?
Not the greatest battery life I've seen. My set up is cm10.1. Mostly stock. Stock cpu/kernel. I charged my phone and calibrated my battery. Wiped battery stats. Calibrated again for good measure. I have wifi on at all times. Auto brightness that's adjusted to low brightness. Tasker running at all times only controls volume (according to time) and 2g only when connected to wifi. I also use greenify to hibernate maps. I'm mostly on wifi all day. So far no problem.. Thinking of doing a clean wipe and restore.
I'm sure sense roms will do much better. I will run nova battery tester when I charge my phone tonight. Most likely my battery will last til the end of the day. (over 24hours with 3+ hour screen on which is probably 1hour more screen on time than before)
it's only day 1 with the new battery so i'm hoping after a week i'll get the full benefit of the battery... I may need to try a sense rom.

Well 15% is exactly what's expected =)
I will try viperxl over the weekend and see how sense does
btw anyone know apps that can measure our battery capacity? I tried nova and battery monitor widget.... nova doesn't seem to work and battery monitor widget says that I need more charge cycles.... or am I doing something wrong w/ transitioning to a higher capacity battery?

Instead of Viper, try CleanROM or RebelROM. The first is a lighter Sense ROM, and the latter is a mostly desensed one with AOSP touches.
Viper is too bloated to get great battery life, but has tons of tweaks.

I owned original One, but battery was horrible. I switched to G2 and battery is the best I've had. On m8 how is battery? Did they improve it? I work at a homeless shelter and sometimes work overnights. When I do I'm basically on wifi all night. G3 is coming out with same battery but bigger screen so I'm anticipating it to get less screen time.

There is probably at least 10 threads that already talk about battery life. But I'll give my 2 cents. I leave home at 9am and don't get back until midnight. With my previous phone, it would be dead by about 2pm (I'm a heavy user). With this phone, I've never once had to charge during the day, even when I'm working in basements with no signal at all. I've never gotten home at midnight with less than 30% battery.
ive had both the G2 and now the M8. I think the G2 is still better (mAh is higher) but very comparable. Unless you're cutting it close (<10% when you go to charge your G2), then the M8 will suffice for battery life.
Battery is amazing due to 801 chip. Beats my note 3. Read some reviews - they'll say battery life is amazing.

Mine had 4-5 hours on screen time. With the m8 I always get more than 5.

Battery life is the best I've had on any android device to date. I'm happy.

I start the day off at 100% and goto work for 8 hours. I get a 30 minute lunch and 15 minute break which I usually browse the news and websites. At the end of the day I only used 2%. My HTC ThunderBolt would of normally been around 45% remaining at this time. Recently I was stuck at family's and watched the latest FRANKIEonPCin1080p video and a couple JackFrags videos on youtube with a bunch of browsing. ~an hour and a half and used about 15-20% from 100.
I'm at 24% right now with 5h 11m screen-on time over LTE. I've been using it very heavily and I'm projecting a total screen on time of 6h 45m.
This is with power saver mode enabled which I completely recommend. This phone lasts equally as long (on power saver) as my GS3 did with the OEM 3000mah extended battery.
It's pretty good.
