i think battery life is awesome on this phone, Ive never had such good battery life with any other smartphone..
I dont think it needs extended battery.
I think HTC actually tried to eliminate battery drain before making a non removable battery.

I second that, getting great battery usage.

Me too get very good battery time.

I made it from 7:30Am to 10:32PM without hitting 10% reserve. The battery life is fine. Just wish people in the amaze form would realize that.

what connection were you using? wifi or mobile?

Battery life is just great. Nearly no drain in idle.

Mobile all the way

There will always be people who want an extended battery, but its really not needed unless you are using your phone to make 50 pho.e calls in a day or you play 3 hours of games. most people will be more than happy with the battery life provided by the One S.

no need for a Extended Battery here, where would the battery go if there was one

If you are in bad cell coverage (which eats more juice) or are a heavy user, pray god invest a few bucks into a Gumpack external battery. That thing is half the size if a pack of cigs and stores enough juice for 2-3 full recharges on the go. Its one little more gadget to toss into your daypack and remember to keep charged but its well worth the bother. Certainly easier than speculating about a bigger battery while batt life is fine for most users.
And I am not bashing, if you have a 1.5h commute to work and spend it playing GTA3 i can see where the juice goes. So a gumpack battery would be your best approach, with the current 28nm Krait architecture there is not a lot to gain batterywise really. Plus, the AMOLED sucks less juice on dark images, something to keep in mind when picking a background image I think.

Extended Battery

For users who purchased the extended battery (2200mah), how much bigger (physical size) is it then the 1500mah default battery?
2200 mAh is actually a fairly nice battery. My Droid X extended battery is only 1930 mAh but i get ~13-17 hours of battery life and the X has a huge LCD display. I could only imagine what the Fascinate would get with that big a battery and Super AMOLED haha.
The word according to a bunch of tests is the Droid X has the best battery life, about 3 hours than the SGS line on a single charge. On average with my Epic I'm getting about 12 hours without recharge, so a 2200 mAh battery should go roughly 18 hours. Again, mileage will vary from user to user. I do what I would consider is around heavy usage.
Just traded Droid X in for Fascinate and had the extended battery for the X. They gave me the extended battery as an even exchange for the SGS and I am seriously considering returning the thing. It is Ginormous and makes the phone look disgusting. The X's extended battery at least kept the phone looking good.
i'm very curious about the extended battery and the cover that comes with it. could you post a pic of the phone with them installed, plz?
The thing is huge.

i get 12-14 hrs without dropping down to 1/2 battery with calls paired w/bluetooth headset ,web, texting, emails, twitter, and beautiful widgets all running !! this is one of the best batteries on a android phone ive had so far !! right up there with my droidx !!
I gotta say it a great battery but I must decide what is more important to me longer battery or a case with belt clip hmmmm.

Not sure what's up with yours, but mine gets fantastic battery life. Full charge at 8am and I go a day and a half with moderate-to-heavy call/text/game/web use. I'm extremely impressed with the battery life. My girlfriend hardly uses her's except for web browsing on lunch, and she almost squeezes 3 days out of it!

Hey inspire owners, what do you think about the battery life?

I have read that battery life is horrible...what do you all think?
For the 24 hours plus I have had it, it is actually better than my Captivate was on any 2.2 ROM after proper recalibration, and at least on par with bone stock 2.1.1. I think HTC got it right with this one.
mine sucks so far. but im sure it needs to be "broken in" (here comes the debate about batteries not needing to be broken in)
Mine is decent, but then I plug it in the car charger as soon as i start driving so...
Mine is pretty decent as well... better than my Captivate was stock. The Inspire has a smaller battery as well (1230mAh I believe). So smaller battery with bettery battery life means HTC did something right to me
It's good so far. However, I got a 1600 mah from eBay and so far It's been great. I've been using it for 6 hours with constant use, full brightness and I still have more than half of battery left.

That batt still fit in the phone without any mods? And are they smoking crack? 105 for the batt? I'll stay with my current one

would u say better or worse then the Droidx, or an iphone4?
I have never used an iPhone 4 or Evo long enough to give you battery life. As for the Evo, probably close to the same actually. You see, the main reason that the Evo got the 1500 may battery is because of WiMax 4G. Plus the Inspire has more efficient technology, including the second generation snapdragon processor and the more efficient version of Sense, version 2.0
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I think the battery life is great. MUCH better than what the bad reviews said it was.
With smart use (concious of wifi toggle, brightness toggle, gps toggle, account syncs...) the phone will easily last over a day. I use my phone a lot too, and I can't kill it in the day. It requires a little more attention than the iPhone 4, but the trade offs are worth it.
Full charge this morning. maybe 1 hour of web/email. 15 minutes of calls and stand by the rest of the time and I am at 2/3 at 4pm.
Not good not bad. Clearly for really busy times it will need a charge or a second battery (which I am planning to get).

I am guessing wrong price or a shill - are we sure the Desire HD battery will fit and function properly. If so why didnt HTC just use the 1500mA or 1600mA to start with?
It was actually $4.89. That's what I paid including shipping. I guess the seller got greedy. I copied that link from the confirmation email from eBay.

I don't recommend buying any batteries online that claim to be replacements for the Inspire, but are much larger in mAh. They are likely fake, unsafe, or the same battery you have currently with a different mAh size that is untrue.

Take a search for ebay batteries and you'll find at best they are ok at best, at worst.....but who knows, buy em and if they are what they say they are then spread the word.
I'm gonna call bull to the "Gold Battery", seems a bit off if you ask me

+1. There is no way the amount of space we have available for our batteries that you are going to get any more energy cells. Its all bull. The stock battery is the best you will get. If you suspect it is not performing its best, take it in to att and they will replace it if its gone bad prematurely.

It ships from asia. I dont buy anything that ships from asia cause you risk it being a fake. But here is a link on reviews of it from other users who purchased it.

The Anker 1600 mah battery is like $8? $9? On ebay. After batt calibration, this thing can go over 36 hrs running cm7. Mugen's are awesome too. Not all the batteries on there are bad, but as a general rule, stay away from anything shipping from Asia.
Still it is the wrong forum but as long as the topic is open....
+1 for the Anker 1600 batteries. Picked up 2 and a universal charger on ebay for about $15. Have only been using one of the batteries. But the difference is very noticeable over the HTC battery. Much better battery life. Installed Battery Monitor Widget to get some stats on the battery. Reported at 1480mAh. Don't know if the app is correct. HTC battery may have been starting to degrade already too which says alot of its quality. But the Anker battery so far for me has been out performing the HTC battery.

fake
Looks fake to me. I bought an extended battery a few months ago to replace my stock battery. It was actually worse than the stock battery. I would bet that this is a standard capacity battery with a gold packaging to make it look even better.
I bought a refurb'd inspire 4g. My battery was faulty, like my phone kept shutting down randomly.
Then I got a battery from aftermarket, all is well.
Mine lasts 2 days with juice defender, without it, it's like 6 hrs.
Radio makes a lot of difference to battery life. Don't see how you can put an extended battery in an inspire casing... just saying..

You can't, but I've tried saying this in this thread before and people just don't want to hear it. The amount of space available for the inspire battery can not pack anymore energy cells. It's physics. Unless they have some new crazy technology that no one has heard of.

I used to say the same thing over and over. But my white laptopmate batteries are still kicking butt. Battery monitor rates them on average of 1475mAh. If you want to call that extended, I wouldn't. No it doesn't rate them 1600 like the packaging says. Whether that value is correct or not doesn't really matter to me. They work well and I believe better than the original. Our oem battery is chinese made too by the way.
And maybe these third party manufacturers do rate them loosely. Or maybe the oem batteries are rated very conservatively. I never had a chance to see what battery monitor rated my oem. But these 2 batteries and universal charger were worth every penny of the $15 I spent.
I learn that if turn off the wifi when you not use, will let unit run longer

Horrible battery life

Im the proud new owner of the Samsung galaxy s2 skyrocket from Rogers. I've owned the phone for about 3 days now and i am very impressed with it's performance. The one thing I am not pleased with, however is the battery life. My battery is being drained by 1% every few minutes. Im a lightweight user. I've sent maybe 20 texts and received less than 10 phone calls, all lasting under 10 minutes. Im running mhx's superlite ROM alongside faux's kernel. I've tried waiting for a full charge then wiping battery stats. Still have horrible battery life. I've tried waiting for the battery to drain to about 10%, then when it reaches 100% charge I leave it in a couple of hours. I still have a horrible battery life. Wi-fi, GPS, Bluetooth, auto-sync are all off and brightness is set to the lowest possible value. I even underclocked the processor to 1.2GHZ. I do use Go Launcher, go locker, go sms and go powermaster. Is there some way to check out whats eating my battery? Maybe I should invest in a new battery?

It seems that go locker was the culprit. Uninstalled it. And I just might buy one of those heavy duty batteries as suggested by another poster. Any recommendations? I think I read somewhere that some batteries designed for the SG2 won't work for the skyrocket.

'heavy use' in phones is a pretty subjective thing. but one thing extends Batt life more them anything else bar widgets and having wi-fi etc on -it's having or rather using BLACK themes in your apps , black goog and black background. man you can even use a black background white text in kindle Android. think about it, amoled screens live for dark backgrounds and I've put some serious time into researching Batt life and what does and doesn't work. try black backgrounds as amoled screens consume most of their power from light backgrounds and almost minimal power from black backgrounds!

I thought that the whole thing about using a black background to save battery power was just a rumour. Thanks for the tip.
Does anyone know if battery saving programs such juicedefender, Go Powermaster, etc. really make a difference in battery life?
juice defender is a total waste of time.it's market as a quality app ie. lots of settings etc but in my errrr 'research' and testing for Batt life i read about and found out through 'personal insight' (by that i mean common sense) that it just uses more Batt than it saves. for one it's always using phone resources - processor etc and two it's basically running continually trying to SAVE Batt life and therefore really defeating itself. tried it and quickly spat it out. not worth it.i.had the paid version too.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
also definitely stay away from app killers etc. Android just restarts the apps it needs anyway end you'll just be killing them , Android will be restarting them. you get it. app killers just hog more resources than they save.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
I knew it was too good to be true. I guess those people who claim it works were under a heavy placebo effect.
don't know if you've tried it but the xda app -premium version anyway- which i'm using at the moment to post also has a dark theme (black background) in settings SIMPLE VIEW or something like standard view. can you believe it!

All and l mean all the geezers (the top brass anyway) at xda are going to send hitmen for me for thus next comment : DEEP BREATH and here goes - It could be the roms , flashing etc , or to placate any er hitmen the particular Roms that you're using could be to blame you know! Android or Samsung or both also have had a problem with some phones having a runaway processor BUG . By that i mean the Android OS (you'll find it underbattery usage) goes crazy on some phones and decimates Batt life. check it out and think about your errrr emm ROMS. OH dear there's a knock at the door........!!!!

Battery Life

Highly depends on your usage. I personally get about a day to a day and a half of battery on slow days. With some more moderate-high usage, it's usually about 8-9hrs with 2-3hrs of screen on.

Depending on the ROM I'm running I've seen battery life between 24 and 36 hours with the stock battery.
I bought a 3750 mAh no-name battery pack for $10 (plus shipping, lol) on ebay and constantly get over a days worth with moderate use (over 1h screen-on time quite often) Be aware that this battery was considerably larger than the stock one, but did come with a plastic cover that snaps in place of the stock one.
mine lasts about 1.5 days, with a new aftermarket battery
What firmware are you using? I noticed drastic increases going from GB to ICS and JB.
Have you turned off your data? Are you running stock? As mentioned above, power management is much better with ics and jb.
When I got my captivate, data could kill the battery in a about 6 or 7 hours without turning on the screen.

The Cappy's battery are faily small for all the new features 4.2.1 is bringing. You gotta keep in mind that more features = more battery drain. If you can get 2.5-3hrs of screen on, be happy!
If you really want insane battery life, get back to froyo and flash Firefly

Have gotten between 15-18 hours on my battery from new till now (2years old)
With the exception of a few roms (mostly early stages) its been pretty consistent and based more on wifi/mobile data than anything else
My advice is to buy a new battery. Even if it's the same capacity as the old one, it will have less cycles on it, and batteries don't last forever. Also, I would stay away from these cheap ebay batteries. More than likely they are either recycled or they're subpar sells that have been relabeled and sold. Either way, they're not close to the mAh reading they're advertising.
I bought the 1800mAh battery that fits in the Epic 4G and I get more than a day with my usage. Just have to turn off google maps location report, as that will kill your battery in a few hours. Google now still works without it enabled.
