Hello guys, i am new here, yes its my first post, yes i have been posting on forums in the past, and yes i want to cry.
I just got this brand new nexus s from Videotron a couples of months back, someone told me to look for Cyanogenmod, i did, i installed it, with superuser rooted/unlocked. loved it, untill recently i rebooted the device due to battery outage, and it was stuck to the google logo, then i opened clockworkmod and did a restore, it worked!
Then, last week, an update was pushed to the phone about jelly beans, (4.1.1), i clicked INSTALL NOW, i was at home, plugged in.
The install failed (Android logo on his back with red triangle warning) i waited 2 hours, it was still there, i had to remove the battery.
Now, Clockworkmod is not starting. (Its the default bootloader (as usual) and the next page (in the RECOVERY option) its the default "Android system recovery <3a>" with those 4 options
-reboot system now
-apply update from /sdcard
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
...
i did them all, tried everything its still not booting.
I tried everything i could find on all the forums, fastboot, adb nvflash... but. when i plug in my device in the pc i don't think its seen by the maching (unless i click the "Turn on USB Storage) BUT I CANT CLICK IT :'(
Model # is GT-i9020T
I really need a pro to help me out, and i promise to give you compensation if you can fix it, via paypal.
I am on facebook daily, on IRC too. msn too,
I don't care if we manage to install ice cream sandwich, jellybean or even freaking BBq peanuts..
I just need a working "facebook machine"
Thank you and ill be looking at this post every hour.

I looked at some tutorials about odin, but i cannot find all the appropriate files for my phone.
Would you be able to point me in the correct direction?
Free advice : you need to install fastboot on your computer.
You can fix this by holding volume up, and then hold power at the same time until you see the bootloader menu.
Then, connect usb, and on computer type fastboot devices
You should get two lines of output. One device is listed something like 359G7HF6824
That means fastboot can see your device.
You need to download cwm recovery.img
Flash it to your phone by typing fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
...which will send recovery.img to 'recovery' partition on your phone.
Now use the volume keys to select recovery option, press power key to select.
In recovery flash a new ROM. Download one from development section if you need to.
If you find any of these steps difficult, please ask for more help.
However, all the help you need can be found by reading through the stickies in Q&A, General, and Development.

Install the PDANet Android drivers, this usually works well.
http://junefabrics.com/android/
Then use fastboot to flash a recovery as bedalus wrote.

If you have updated your Pantech Crossover with latest update of gingerbread 2.3.6 and regretting it, don't feel bad because you can now root it with few simple steps which are mentioned hereunder...
NOTE: this procedure is very much safe, but if you mess something up just because of your less technical knowledge/experience then don't blame because I don't take any responsibility of your mistakes.
- connect your CrossOver with your computer and make sure that latest drivers are installed.
- download and extract attached file and open command prompt placed in it.
- type "adb reboot bootloader" and wait for phone to boot into bootloader mode (your phone will remain on 10% loading bar which is actually bootloader mode, so don't panic) [people with bootloader drivers issue should download modified drivers from the link below]
- type "fastboot boot recovery.img" and your phone will boot into CWM recovery.
- copy update.zip to your memory card and select "install update.zip from memory card" from the recovery menu.
- restart your phone and you are rooted.

Awesome! Been hoping someone would crack this for a while.
Do you have a source for the .exe files by any chance? I'm on a linux box now, I'll be able to try it on Windows by tomorrow I think.
edit: nvm, had fastboot all along. thanks!
For those rooting, don't forget to enable Superuser through an app like Terminal Emulator.
If you open Terminal Emulator and the command prompt starts with a $, you are still rooted. Type "su" (without the quotes). If the next line in the command prompt starts with a #, congrats!
You're awesome

Hi,
Firstly, thanks for posting this guide and the resources and files. I'm having a problem. After typing "fastboot boot recovery.img" in the cmd prompt, it says <waiting for device> and then doesn't do anything. On the device, the screen is still stuck at the loading screen with the bar at 10%. The only thing I can do is pull the battery to get it to boot up normally.
Am I missing a step or doing something wrong? Sorry this is my first experience with rooting. Is there anything that needs to be done before attempting to root using this method? My phone is pretty stock except for a few apps and launcher pro. Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the help. Ok, so when I have the device at the 10% loading bar, in the device manager it shows "Other devices" with an "Android" subcategory with the yellow exclamation (!) mark. I right click that, click update driver, and point it to the directory with the download and unzipped drivers that you asked me to download. However, it says it can't find any drivers to install.
Note that when I'm normally running the phone connected to the computer, it shows up in the device manager as a Pantech android device, and I can transfer files seamlessly using the Pantech Connectivity Suite. Sorry for asking so many questions. I really appreciate the help. If there's any other information you need that I forgot to add, let me know. Thanks again for the help.

Would somebody be able to help?
My phone has been playing up a lot lately. I was running MIUI.
Also the volume buttons do not work on the phone.
At the moment i have a phone which is stuck on the MIUI boot screen(just the yellow "MI" symbol)
I would like to get my phone back to stock, i have read so far that i will have to use an RUU (not sure if this is suitable or not for my situation?)
There are a few problems i have with this.
I have no idea of knowing what CID i am running, and no idea how to find it with my phone in its current state.
When i do look on the links to RUU pages i am unable to find one that is suitable for Orange (EE??) UK
[*[I have no experience of ADB, and if i need to use that i will need a complete NOOBS guide to how to use it.
Any help would be appreciated, even links to other pages etc.
Many thanks in advance for your help

Hi,
The RUU runs from the PC.
All you need to do on the phone is to go to bootloader, then, fastboot, and plug in your USB cable and run the RUU.
Look at the thread I gave you.

This is very easy if you have an att phone. If not you will NEED to get the correct FXZ for you phone and download what I am about to link here, then put the correct FXZ for YOUR phone in the same location as in the download, and run the batch file, while your phone is in fastboot, as simple as that. If you do this RSDlite is not needed.
Link to the post with the scripts:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36834775&postcount=108
Again as it is, that is ONLY for AT&T phone, and you MUST get the proper FXZ for your phone, if it is not an AT&T phone, and put the FXZ in the same directory as the rest of the files with the script.

1. Make sure your phone is fully charged (you can't fxz below 30%)
2. Install the correct driver and boot your phone to AP Fastboot
3. You don't have to extract the fxz file. just put them to C:/ as a whole
I recommend you read the instruction again
Obviously you have to get fastboot working. that should just be a drive issue, but you can try a new cable/ usb port/ computer. What rom did you have? you should be able to get into its recovery and flash again.

I was stuck in this same situation just last week, fastboot not being recognized and all. What operating systems do you have? I tried 4 (windows xp 32 and 64bit, windows 7 32bit and windows 8 64bit), and only xp would work a few times. So maybe you can try a friend's computer with xp or anything else. Which drivers are you using? because it worked for me with Motohelper, but not the latest drivers. Either way, keep trying different usb ports especially with the Motorola cable. Let me know if anything works, good luck!

I see, that may be why it's so hard to get fastboot to work. :/ The A2 seems to only like working with the Motorola oem cable for many people, especially with AP fastboot. Well try what you can to keep the battery charged, and try what you can.

I would try using Linux. if you don't want to install it, you should just be able to use a live cd of ubuntu or something. it aught to work right off the bat, no drivers needed. you will ahve to use manual fastboot commands though, no fxz (so you will need to install moto-fastboot)

I read that to solve this problem I had to update the CWM. I installed from the recovery 6.0.0.4, and since recovery from I told him to do the reboot, you aren't more turned on. I have a phone that will not turn on and I can not do anything. Is there a way to completely reset the phone using only the pc from 0? Sorry for my bad english, i'm italian.

Have you tried accessing bootloader like this? Take out battery, sim card and memory card and then put battery only in, plug in usb 2 to computer and the micro usb to phone and then you should see the orange light come on and this will indicate that the phone is connected then open adb through android sdk and type adb reboot bootloader and tell me if it works

I've updated the recovery, by simply downloading the package. Zip from SD card and installing it from recovery. If I press the power button nothing happens, the screen remains black and does not even have a little light.

I tried as you said yourself, but when it is charging (or attached to the PC, or to a plug) the orange LED is not lit. Is not lit, the only answer I got was that the computer told me "driver installation failed".

Cwm itself has problems with the htc sensation, why did you not install Twrp? If you are able to access the recovery have you tried flashing Twrp from there, not sure if you can but have a search.

I'm sorry, I can not understand well the first three prerequisites unbrick project:
1) I downloaded the live CD of Linux that put at the end and it is an ISO file. I have to mount with Daemon Tools? And as for the automount disabled and without unity, are parameters that I decide to install?
2) Packages for devices that are at the end are divided into 32-bit and 64-bit. Are the bits of my operating system or the phone (if they have)?
excuse my ignorance.
3) What is RUU and where do I find the right one for my device?

I think because it corresponds with the region is Europe, the cid not know what is.
In the manual it says to download the latest RUU for my device, then the second ones I've found I should be the third, 2 October 2012. But if there were others on that page are not there?
There are so many, I do not know where to go get:
http://htc.vi8.info/Stock-RUU/
http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Pyramid
http://www.persianhtc.net/index.php?dir=Sensation(Pyramid)/rom/original/EXE/

yes you run the exe from pc
connect the device to pc in fastboot mode
edit: but you will be able to do that when you will gain access to the bootloader again

There is a slight problem, the first command that I write on the terminal,. / Brickdetect.sh, I should recognize the device bricked. Instead it is not found. How so? When I attack my phone to pc, QHSUSB_DLOAD appears in the device list, but marks it as not specified.
