Stuck power button - Asus Transformer TF700

I had TF700 for only 1 month and the power button already got stuck in.
How is this possible ?

It's called a defect... It happens. While the buttons on the TF700 *are* flimsy, I don't believe I've heard of any other complaints of a non-working power button, so I think it's safe to say that this isn't a common issue.
To be honest, I don't use my physical power button much and hardly ever use the physical volume buttons. When at a desk at work or at home, my bluetooth mouse automatically wakes the device and I turn it off with the lock button on the dock. The screen also automatically turns off and on when you open or close the docked device.
So, the only time that I use the physical power button is when I turn the device of/off when it undocked, which isn't very often...

Mine is the same it still works just needs a little more pressure

The power button still works, but requires some pressure to turn device on/off. It feels more like a sensor button now, i.e. if I press it, it doesn't travel down at all.

Your tablet is still under warranty if it's only a month old - just get Asus to fix it and be done with it. No amount of complaining in this forum will fix it!

No, not if you unlocked it.
However, you *can* purchase a SquareTrade warranty up to 90 days after purchase, in some cases. You may want to look into that... I forget what the exact terms are - sometimes you have up to 30 days after purchase and in some cases you have up to 90 days after purchase...

[Q] Power Button spring??

My power button broke only from normal wear and tear. I haven't bumped it into anything.
Pressing the power button I guess made the spring break? there's no more resistance and no more click. My screen still turns on and off but if I even brush up against the power button it turns my screen off now.
Has anyone else run into this from normal use? I know about the thread where the guy bumped it into something and it'll no longer power on but mine still works ok but it's a bit annoying
I have the same power button issue and have received an RMA number from Asus to return the TF for repair. The only problem is that it takes 10 -14 business days plus shipping -- if they have the parts. That should be a month without the TF. Asus makes no accommodations for cross-shipping (with or without a credit card) nor do they provide for expedited shipping options. As for Asus customer service, it took three phone calls to get the necessary information. Let's just say compared to other companies they will not be getting a JD Powers award for customer service.
I'm starting to notice a little weakness in the volume down button (not up or power though)... I think I'll wait until they get things straightened out to get it repaired or RMA'd.. I'm not about to go a month without it!
My power button did not work out of the box, to turn it on I have to eject my memory card or plug in the charger. So should I send mine in also?
I only have the tablet so should I wait for the keyboard and power it on that way? By the way this is my only problem.

RMA it. The power button on the tablet operates the whole kit when docked.

My TF300T is DEAD!!! please HELP!!!

I put my TF300T with the dock together to sleep and some 30 minutes later i decided to put it on and the next thing i saw was that it was re booting, awkward but i felt no problem... after finishing booting for like 2min. it was not responsive and the battery section only shows one batter with a RED exclamation mark ( indicating battery is bad) so i decided to remove the dock and rebooted the tab. The tablet came on and responsive but when i tried to put back the dock station 3-5 seconds after the tablet went DEAD and since i have been trying to bring it online, i have not been able to.
ANY HELP will be appreciated. Is there any way to take this thing to emergency mode at if it is not hardware problem prob. it can be fixed rather than sending to the service center in the US. I am in Nigeria and my return policy deadline is today. i got the tablet from amazon 26th June (last month)...
Thank in advance!
If your deadline's today, e-mail Amazon so that they can help you return it, that way you still have some time to repair it yourself and will be covered if repairs are needed.

Yes it is (it even appears in the user manual). It's located on the left side, right under the SD card port of the tablet.

TF300T Volume Key problem...

Hello,
I just purchased a TF300T today and once playing around with it later at home I realise, that depending how I hold the tablet the Volume goes up. Pressing the Volume Down Key will lower it, but then even without touching anything the volume goes up. I also noticed that when pressing the back of the tablet in the middle, the Volume goes up.
Anybody has seen this issue before? I assume the tablet has a build quality issue and I need to exchange it, not?
Thanks for any info.
I dont have that problem

Probably was a hardware issue, as the unit does not turn on anymore... waiting for a replacement unit.

Where is the proximity sensor located?

I tried the fling 2 times feature of the app awesome on off but it seems does not work.
The app developer says it uses proximity sensor. So it doesn't work because our tablets don't have one?

No, I don't think it has one.
Why would it? Sure it's generally used on phones to detect when you're holding the phone to ear to turn the screen off. Don't think people intend to hold a 10 inch tablet to their head.

Dead tf300t after update

Hi Xdaers
I'm sorry if this has been posted already, I tried searching without finding anything that worked.
I was using my TF300T last wednesday and i got a notification telling me of a system update, so i accepted the update.
After the update was applied the device booted up fine and i continued to use it, at the end of the day i put the device to sleep.
The following day i went to wake it up and nothing happened. My first thoughts was the battery died so i charged it until the light went green on both the pad & dock, Still no response. PLEASE HELP ITS OUT OF WARRANTY.
I have tried holding POWER, POWER & VOL-, POWER & VOL+, RESET BUTTON.
I also tried connecting it to my pc, it failed to detect the device.
I dont know what else to try. :crying:

What could have broken it, all i did was leave it over night.
If i put my ear on the top left of the back i can hear a very faint noise when pressing the power button, like my nexus 7 does just before the screen comes on.

If its just the screen you can always try hooking up a HDMI to a TV and see if you get anything. Just to make sure did you make sure to hold down the power button long enough? Sometimes you do have to hold it down for quite a bit for something to show up.

I have had it connected to the TV with no picture. I held the power button for at least 5-10 minutes. I've even removed & replaced the battery and tried holding power, no look there. I did find something interesting when I removed the back tho (bare in mind this device was brand new and has never been opened before) I found 4 warranty sticker all broken and finger prints fused onto the copper heatsink.

Tell me about it I'm going to be speaking to training standards as I was sold it as "brand new" followed by speaking to the shop I got it from telling them they broke the sale of goods act 1979 (selling a refurbished unit as pristine). Hopefully I will get a new device.

So just a quick update I just got back from my holiday and thought I'd try turn it on, and as if by magic it booted as normal.
Now the only issues I have is random reboots.
It seems to restart after a few minutes when I touch the screen. Is it possible to revert to ICS without root. I managed to do it before just by copying the update file from the Asus website on to the SD card. Will that work when going from 4.2 to 4.1???

AFAIK you can't go back to ICS once the tab is upgraded to JB. See this thread. However, you can go back and forth between 4.2 and 4.1. Hope that answers your question.
