HTC One X Screen Replacement Help Please! - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I just received a screen from a fellow XDA member today and so I took it all apart and removed the old LCD/Digi and test the new one on the motherboard but there's no response. It is ON and I plugged it in as much as it can go. Please look at the images and tell me if there's something missing or idk... this is my only phone too. =( thanks

Your missing an important pic. Back of the LCD. From what I can see from what's here. Its all good. Now also are you testing without full assembly?
Sent from my One X using xda premium

alright will do, have to borrow my brothers camera again tomorrow.

Make sure when you testing, your fully assembled. I know it sucks.

The back shell shouldn't matter when testing the screen

i followed a video that said to test the LCD screen the way it is in the pic and his turned on. mine never did.

That's the best damb video I've seen. Wish I had seen that when I did mine. I stand humbly corrected.

I can't tell if your clasp is down on that connector. Just a thought.. I've missed silly steps before
Sent from my One X using xda premium

yeah this guy is very clear in some parts.
what is the orange tape on the jaw bone connectors for? is it necessary?
does the back of the LCD need the adhesive on it cuz I dont have that,
and how hard should I press the LCD into the frame? it seems in, idk if it will help

Mine had the tape on it. Did not replace an of them.

I'd get some adhesive. Plus depending on quality you might want to concider butting some silicon around the glass to LCD for dust reasons

That looks like the wrong screen model for the AT&T HTC One X. I am not entirely sure, but I believe you need the exact screen model specified for the AT&T model which has the AT&T logo at the top. Someone suggested http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=180915293231 It came from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839060
Use at your own risk.

That top cable is just for the touch screen so in theory that shouldn't be needed to have the lcd turn on.

yeah that is for the digitizer, Im just trying to test the LCD. uploading some pics

Have you tried the old one? If the old one still works then you have a bad lcd.

the old one stopped working, thats why I got a new one.

There is the chance then that the system board has the issue then. Does it seem like it boots up? aka making the startup sounds.

Camera Lens Glass cracked

I cracked the glass on my camera lens. What can be done about fixing it??
I know insurance covers it, but only if I pay the $200 deductible. HTC can fix it for next to nothing in cost, but that requires I mail the phone to california, wait for it to be fixed and for them to mail it back.
I have found the entire back portion of the phone available on eBay for $40 however after closer look, these are all for the HTC One X, not the HTC One XL.
I was talking to a friend of mine and he says the glass is just a very thin piece of protection and you really dont need it so I should just remove it. As it is now, the camera takes extremely blury photos. Any ideas on how best to fix this? If the glass is not important, I might just remove it entirely but it'd be nice if I could fix it somewhat cheaply.
i have to ask how the hell did you crack your lens cover

I'm pretty sure it happened while I was working. I keep my phone clipped into my seidio active holster. The case keeps the phone protected quite well. I've dropped the phone from the height of 4-8' several times, without any adverse effects.
I know the night I was working on a large data/phone cabling job, I am sure I did not drop it. But when I went to take my photos, they all came out blury and I found its cracked. Has two cracks, forming sort of an X. I would bet you that it happened while I was working on the hard tile floor and rolled over on top of something hard like one of my tools or something. Possibly. Still unsure.

I did call AT&T warranty, I was told that they do not cover small issues like cracked glass on the camera lens. They will only replace the phone if it was not working... like a bad micro usb port or something. If I was more sleezy than I already am, I would break it so that I can get it replaced. But I'm not doing that.

As in covers, do you mean the housing? If so, that's the whole phone shell other than the screen because it's a unibody... From just looking, I'd just get thecamera bezel with the camera lens. Save some moneyy

Theres the link. According to my research, you cannot so easily just replace the glass. You have to replace the entire back cover, as its all in one.

Agreed..I know because I took my back housing off just the other day, I wanted to see if I could switch just camera lense out but it seems to be one off those sonic plastic welds..the housing and lense cover are fuezed, and it has both option international and at&t version, even tells the difference in the description of the housing lol

Ok I'm aware its all one piece, it's a unibody. But if theyre just selling the bezel/lens piece, it's probably just glued down, being screwed in a good chance also.

Now what someone needs to do is buy and 3d scan those covers and start 3d printing them in different colors

I wasn't looking to sell but find out if anyone knew a website that may have some in stock. My back glass cracked along the camera and now i have mirror images when i take a photo

Q. Who has replaced their glass?

My cracked screen is starting to get annoying and I want to fix it. Who has replaced just the glass and how easy/risky is it to do? I also found a place I could send it to and get it done for about 90 bucks, but I'd much rather only spend 20 if it is fairly easy to do myself
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I work at a repair shop. We only do the entire touchscreen assembly. I've repaired at least 15 S3s. If you attempt to do just the glass, it will be difficult and it will probably look like ****. Note: I'm good at what I do, and it still seems difficult. Not to mention, if it's going to look like ****, why bother? Use insurance or save up enough to change the whole display.
See i thought it would be tougher than it looks. You know of a good place to purchase the display?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Its fairly difficult to do. Especially without a heat gun and such. In the past I have replaced the glass on 2 different smartphones using a blow dryer and about $5 worth of tools.
After watching several videos for the GS3 I decided to pay to have it done. I found a repair shop in NYC that promised same day service. They charged $170 to replaced only the glass. In terms of looks it looked beautiful but the functionality was a bit sketchy, so I returned there and they ordered the entire display assembly and installed it free of additional charge. It works fine now.
In retrospect, I should have returned it to Samsung and had them replace it for me but I didn't want to wait (there's a 1 wk turnaround time). At the time Samsung was charging $170(don't know how much they charge now)
It possible that the repair job I got was an anomaly but imo the way Samsung has constructed the screen/digitizer assembly it is fairly difficult for a lay person to replace just the glass themselves.
Hope my experience was helpful
I never found it to be very difficult..

Since the OP was talking about GS3 I'm assuming that's the replacement you were referring to.
Did your phone function well after the replacement? As I said above mine seemed to lose some touch sensitivity after the glass-only was replaced.

Finding a replacement lcd for att one x

Ive read everything I can but am still slightly confused as to what lcd's will work with my one x because everyone seems to have a different opinion on it in every thread I read. so will this one work? it has the sony flex like the american models but says its for the international version which only got the auo i thought?

Ha, that's an odd statement.
OP, I struggled with the same questions as you when I had to replace the screen on my phone... and honestly I'm still not convinced I got the right version. It works, but the light pipes for the capacitive buttons don't line up, which I thought (going on memory) that that was one of the problems with using an international screen on the Evita phone.
I can understand why he would say that. Replacing the screen on this phone is a bit troublesome if you're inexperienced not to mention the 3 different screens for this phone that are really only identified by their flex cables. If you think it through and plan ahead all should be fine though.

In the corporate store I went to, yes along with the flip cover. The cover is nothing special just a cover with holes in it. The dots are simply the screen displaying images behind the cover. That said it is a very slim cover which I liked. May pick one up later.

I like the cover. Finally a flip cover with a magnet. Plus you can answer and talk on the phone with it closed. Give them credit for being creative here.
I have a few gripes about the phone, which is why it didn't pull me from my G2.
1. The keyboard doesn't have emoticons or a top row for number keys. Sammy and LG have both already.
2. That bezel...uuugh
3. Camera is bad. Pics looked good until you tried to zoom at all. It is snappy, but nothing spectacular.
4. I am always concerned with HTC speakers. 4 out of the 5 HTC phones I've owned had the speakers blow.
I did like the ability to change themes (although it didn't change much) and fonts. I just hope more are added eventually (which isn't likely, they never do) because options are limited.
It felt really good to hold, and the case is a big win IMO
