Recently my phone has started randomly opening up the Google now page by hitting the magnifying glass by itself. It happens often, is this a software problem or is my capacitive button broken?
I saw that someone fixed it by loosening or tightening the screws under the battery cover. I can't find that post though

Hmm, Iv never opened up the phones screws before. There are 2 screens near the bottom that i guess holds the screen and back of the phone together. Loosening these would fix the problem perhaps?
I recently bought a Galaxy Note Pro, and have a weird issue. The screen keeps turning off (just like if I had pressed the power button) for no apparent reason. Has anyone else else encountered this?
I have an inkling that it may be due to false detection of my book cover closing, but I cannot find a way to turn this detection off.
Some book covers will trigger magnet sensor when the cover is flipped to the back of the tablet. There's no way that I know of to turn off the feature entirely.

Yeah, I have that issue, mainly caused when the cover is folded back and I lie the tablet flat.

Isn't that the way you're supposed to use the book covers? It would seem that this is a huge design flaw.
edit: "Good" to hear that I'm not the only one with this problem. Not so great if there is no fix for it, though.
So which book cover is doing this? My WAWO Smart Fold Shell (which is also sold under various other brand names) does not exhibit this behavior.

if you are rooted i believe there is an xposed module which will turn this feature off. and also under general, accessary settings- i believe there is a setting..

I haven't rooted it, and I'd rather not. There are some settings under General -> Accessory that pertain to book covers, but nothing like disabling the detection.

These are the available settings.
FWIW I tried the Xposed module called MagnetOff (currently version 1.6 dated 3/12/2014) and disabling magnet has no effect on smartcover usage on the 12.2 .
I don't see magnet settings in Wanam so I'm not sure what other module to try.
I'm just thankful that I don't have this issue with my case.
Has anyone tried to physically remove the magnet from a book cover? I think I may have identified where the magnet that is used for detection is located, but I'm sort of apprehensive about trying to dig it out without destroying the cover.

I had a Note 10 2014 for testing some weeks ago, basically the same cover for it without any problems (Ivso slim cover), so I basically wonder what problem the Note 12.2 actually has with the cover.
In your case, does it coincide with your hardware buttons (menu, middle, menu button) not being responsive anymore? Once I remove the case from the lower back a bit, they are working again.
Thanks in advance

Yes, sometimes they stop working, but I don't think it always happens.
I realized its the book cover from samsung too. When its laid flat its cause lots of problem the screen will turn off and the tablet will remain unresponsive even if u turn the screen back on with power button. Haiz alot of problems encountered just in a week of using this tablet. Spent quite an amount of money on this device but its giving me so much trouble. After I realized its the book cover. I never laid it flat with the flap behind the tablet anymore. But when I using it in a "stand-mode" while watching a youtube video it happened again I downloaded apps that keep screens on, but they aren't working either. The screen will randomly turn off when I am watching the videos.
I too have the same issue. I try using it without the case for a bit to see how it does but without the case I feel pretty nervous using it.

It's unfortunate that a Samsung branded case is causing the issue. The generic case that I'm using doesn't do these things.
It does appear to be the Samsung case. I've been using my Logitech case for the past couple hours and I cannot get the screen to turn off on its own at all. A quick change back to the Samsung case and within 2 minutes the screen went blank.
VERY pathetic Samsung.

Worst part is, I almost took the Pro back due to it just shutting off or becoming unresponsive. I've had zero issues since changing cases, but when I put the Samsung case back on all the issues come back. I have 2 cheap cases with the magnets in them and neither gives my Note issues.

Hi there.
I have a Replica Samsung Note 3 for quiet i time. (HDC Galaxy N9000 Note 3 phone Android 4.3 MTK6589T Quad core phone 5.7" 2GB Ram 16GB ROM)
After a mountain bike ride the phone started to open apps by itself.
There are some days i cant almost cant use it, others its almost normal.
I already removed the plastic protection from the screen and use a proper liquid cleaning solution.
Still the same.
Any sugestion?
Where a can find replacement parts?
I read about the screen may be under some pressure.
It only opens apps on both limits of side of the screen.
Thanks for your time
Hmm...
That's odd..
It happened to me but when I've had a screen protector along with softshell and it was bending the edges of screen protector...
Maybe Your screen or touch screen had bend a little due to heat or something (I'm just guessing...)
You could try loosen screws a little and see what happens... it may or may not help but maybe it's worth giving a try?
I recently noticed this strange blemish around the home button of my GS5 Dev. Edition. The phone has never been dropped in the water and when I clean the screen with eyeglass cleaner or alcohol you can't see the blemish. Once you get some oil from your hands on the screen it becomes visible again.
Samsung wasn't much help when I called them about it and were going to make me pay to fix it. The phone is only about 6mo old.
I really want to buy a Note 4, but I feel bad giving them repeat business when I've never abused this phone and clearly there is something wrong with the screen and they want me to pay to fix it
What would you do in my position?
if you're using a screen protector, i suggest you change it, because with use, the area eroded and subsequently of a different texture than the rest. My HTC One has such a mark on the Home button, which is invisible usually, but with oily hands, is visible.

then take your phone service center. May be its lcd issue...
So it disappears when you clean it? Almost sounds like an issue with the oleophobic coating. (It's an oil-rejecting coating applied in the factory that wears off after a few months. You can buy it to apply yourself as well)
I've seen several thousand Samsung devices, but never this issue.
A screen protector should solve the issue if that is the case. That way residue from your fingers doesn't end up on the actual screen.

I have a Note 4 and have not seen this before. Perhaps it's an issue with the coating as mentioned above.

my screen has this 3 marks across (something like when u swipe across the screen with a dirty finger and it leaves the print of swipe) which is caused by the Samsung screen protection film that you have to peel off when you first get your phone. but I had left it on as I have yet to buy a screen protector and occasionally it would peel off but I would just press it back and I guess that's how I got the 3 lines at the place where it peeled off and I stuck it back after finally deciding to do without that film thing.
I've been trying to remove the marks thus I used a micro fibre cloth to wipe the screen and also tried using scotch tape on it too. it would disappear but after using it awhile it would return again which gets quite irritating as sometimes it would be noticeable when the screen is off under the sun. I'm currently refraining from using alcohol wipes as I heard it damages the oleophobic coating.
Was wondering if anyone has any idea how else to remove the marks. anything would be appreciated thanks!
Edit: finally managed to get pictures of the streaks that wont disappear. http://imgur.com/a/yPoxw
