I just found out tun.ko needs to be compiled for the specific kernel version. Anyone can help me with the binary or point out where to find the source for the tun and kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #2? Thank you.

any reason for using this kernel? tun.ko is included in decad3nce's kernels.
kernel source can be obtained from HTC if you don't want to take the easy way and use decad3nce's kernel.
p.s. We have a Q & A Forum for this.

This is Zenulator's ZenKernel. You might get a response by posting in his thread here, but fyi he's not actively developing anymore.
Thanks both of you for the great info. I think I will try the easy way first and use decad3nce's kernel.
I tried decad3nce's kernel and the battery mod in the same thread and the tun driver worked fine. However, I felt I liked the instant screen wake up of the ZenKernel. And the battery lives of both kernels seem to be almost the same. So I went ahead and grabbed the source and compiled the tun.ko. Tested working fine and attached in case anyone needs it. Thanks for the help.

No contribs, yet more 'thanks' than you, in less time. Let's ask the people in aosp's IRC room as well who contribs.
Also, you must be reading wrong, I haven't been asking for help for much of anything. But, that's to be expected from someone who can't even spell loser right.

I'm getting a lot of "Your device is not compatible with this item" message from the android market. I'm running SkySTOCKeteer 1.5 and Da_G kernel.
Everything from Adobe Flash to Opera Mini
What gives?
Hmmm not sure this is the right section for you post.

Yes I did. I set it back to the default but still having the same issue.
Thanks.
Thats what caused it i had same problem with my atrix. It needs to be to 240 and you need to select the ssdaemon and apply restart
It seems that you get this message when you change the default 240 dpi. I have mine set at 160 (1200x720) and it's working fine.

you can use a root file explorer(if you have root) to disable/turn off thermal throttle. the file is located in /sys/module/msm_thermal/parameters/enabled/ then change the Y to a N.
Also, kernels such as chaos or faux allow you to change the thresholds

I only want to known if any improvement of hardware manufacture was done between N4 and N5.

oh, yea, hardware wise there has been an improvement. the n5 doesnt throttle as much or as hard as the n4. and thats odd that franco didnt expose the files for thermal throttle, many other kernels do.

I read that Nexus 5 still throttles a lot compared with another SnapDragon 800 SoC (Galaxy Note 3):
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/11/when-benchmarks-arent-enough-cpu-performance-in-the-nexus-5/
Yeah it does. 65-70 degrees C for frequency-core throttle respectively I believe.
I've set mine to 80-85 though that is NOT a recommendation!

I am on stock kernel, tried it and then ran the antutu benchmark, at 27% the phone restarted and the N was changed to Y after booting the phone.....any idea why the phone restarted?

thats because of the code, not the device. samsung sets it up how they want it, just how google sets it up how they want it. but its not a bad thing. i run my device with throttle disabled, but i dont care about heat. if google made it not throttle, all we would be reading about is how hot the nexus 5 gets. and it gets pretty hot with throttle on!

you hit thermal shutdown. its really easy to do with antutu, even with throttle on. why did it reset it, did you save your edit or did you just change it and exit?

oh, i misunderstood the first time. it doesnt stick after a reboot. after a reboot you have to disable throttle again. there are kernel control apps that do it as well, i use the trinity kernel toolbox to disable thermal throttle usually(but have to disable it after every reboot).

Everything in /sys "belongs" to the kernel and is set by the hardcoded values in the kernel when the system is rebooted. This is why we need to use apps or scripts to change the /sys values after (or at) boot

I'm not positive about this, but maybe a general forum post linking the work, or recommending the work would be in order, but posting in development not sonsure about, especially if you didn't get permissions.

You are right. I will ask for permission. About dwvwlopment thread, I spent a lot of time looking for the fix to make it compatible with n9005. This is even in the op on original rom thread.

I know Devon credited you for the time you spent, I was just letting you know that you should speak with him
This ROM is the best ROM hands down, and everyone should have the chance to flash it.. I'm just saying maybe putting it in the general section would be best.. But I'll leave that to you guys to figure out, but historically he only supports the devices he's on, as its his baby and he enjoys the learning part of things. So idk..
Yeah I agree. I don't have an issue as long as things are linked back to our respective threads and download links. Which seems to be already done.
But make sure Dwith is cool with it. And don't ask for donations based the stuff provided in this thread. Otherwise you're cool bro.

Thanks, I tried Synapse but don't know why it looked so complicated to me
I am using "Devil Kernel Manager" right now and it looks solid.
I will give synapse another try later
Tyr v29 with the f2fs slimKat rom so far 10 hours while still able to check email and play a bit of boom beach 78% right now took a few calls and xda too. Using intelliactive with the multi core power save and the MSM hotplug with default settings. And default gpu settings. Great kernel work here. BTW for those who asked about ART and xpossed it seemed to work for me.
Sent from my One A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
ART is not kernel related. Should work with every kernel.

Fastcharge doesn't work for me, from 70+, I takes 3+ hours to charge, is fine on AK. Maybe something drains it on this kernel, dunno.

Synapse actually does a really good job of explaining what each feature or control does. It looks daunting, but once you get into it, it's not that scary

You'd have to try them all, and I think you'd get different results with each hotplug/governor combination.
Impulse, yank, nightmare, and zzmove all seem to be well balanced to me. Google them for details on how they work.
