Reflow text - Asus Transformer TF700

I can't get anything to reflow the text like my Inspire does. My Inspire always fits the text to the screen no matter how much I zoom in, I can't get that with the tf700. I think i've tried reflow options (opera) but I don't see anything happening. Anyway to get this on both opera and the original browser?

In the stock browser, it seems like it works most of the time if you zoom in to your desired level, then double-tap the text to reflow. Worth a shot...

in general its an HTC thing. All android used to do it till apple took out lawsuit . HTC held on to it with sense, but outside of that it's hard to find. I think the double tap works on some pages but nothing like an HTC device will. I learned the hard way when I ditched my thunderbolt...

Does anyone have problems in the “return” key like me?

I always need to touch the Return key for 2-3 times to make it work, sometimes it doesnt work at all and I have to use Home key instead...
Is it a common software problem or it's just my cappy ?
It happens to me with any rom/kernel etc.
I don't know if it is software or hardware related, my back/return key is irresponsive almost everytime, speccially whe the softkeys backlight is off
I have the same problem especially when the backlight is off.

I dont think there is anything wrong with the hardware or software that has to do with this button i just think its the way the phone was designed. I have issues too sometimes with it. Really you just have to hit it in exactly the right spot and it works every time. Play aroundwith it and youll probably notice its fine you just have to hit it in the right spot. Still its frustrating i know. Ive just started planting my whole thumb print on that sucker and it works every time.

Yup, I hate it, I've played with a Samsung Fascinate and it's return button is so responsive, it's hard to believe it's anything else but a hardware problem.
the problem is that, why are all the other three keys work every time? ive tested in LCD TEST MODE and it seems like if you touch it fast it wont response while the other buttons have no problem like this

if it always works like this, i can still tolerate it, what i really worried about is that maybe one day it will be totally broken.

Well, I went to the repair store and they are aware of this issue. Is a hardware issue. The phone works this way. Its frustating because all other buttons works fine except return. I had an unlocked T-Mo Vibrant with Att, which BTW, works with ATT 3G service, and all of the bottons were very responsive, they even have a better lighted keypad. I suppose this is a design fault.
yep, vibrant and fascinate has brighter back light than cappy

Same problem here. It's completely non-functional if the phone is behind the window of my armband. All the other buttons work, though the home button is a bit touchy too.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Well mine has the same problem too, even the home button is like that. I tried with 3 Captivates and they are all the same. I just don't understand why people in this forum never bring this problem up before (seriously). Well, it is not something like very annoying, but we should get better that this!!!
When I called samsung about this back in September after having this phone for two months the tech said.........get this, that the home and return buttons required a double tap due to the location to avoid backing out of apps like the browser and apps that require alot of lower screen use. I dont even believe it a little bit but who knows maybe I am wrong. All I do know is that all three of the captivates we have require at LEAST two taps, I dont think we are going to make samsung admit to to many more actual issues with this device.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
i have learned on mine, that if i swype any of the keys from the top left down to the bottom right all the buttons work 100% of the time.. but that may just be mine

Really, we deserve better than this. Malfunction in GPS is even less important than this issue, we can live without GPS, but can never live with a stupid back bottom. I really cant understand, how did the Samsung guys even let this design get through the quality test...
No problems with either of mine..I've 2 exactly the same date and both work fine with a light touch on all of the buttons..both of mine are the 9-4-2010 model with the JH7 firmware installed.
Mac
same issue.. annoys me a lot. I'm thinking I should abuse the Home key and just use a task killer lol
Same here. I notice it is much worse when my hands are dry (my skin is always dry anyway). If I dampen my finger (like, you know, licking it) it responds much better. It almost seems like it doesn't register capacitance as well in that area (really, all the buttons for me), but for some reason the rest of the screen is fine. It is rather irritating at times, but I deal with it. They'd probably have to replace the whole screen to fix it, and I don't see that happening.
No problem here, and on any other Captivate I try.

I have just the opposite problem with the search button. It has a mind of its own. I won't be touching a button or the screen and the stupid search comes up. It is really starting to get annoying. I was happy at first with the captivate, but this will be my last Samsung phone. They make things with nice hardware but their software and build quality is pretty craptacular. Talk about a piece of junk.

Another day, another software bug!!

Hi,
I'm a big fan of the Desire and thought the Desire S would come even closer to ticking all the boxes, but the number of software bugs in this thing is beginning to make me feel like I have a Nokia again!
Latest issue: I try to save a picture I received in an MMS. Phone tells me my 'SD card is running low on space please delete some files'....I have a 32gb card with 1gb or so free (4% free space) and internal memory is 0.98gb free, and I can't save a 150kb jpg to my SD card because it's 'running low on space'...genius!!
Arrrgghhh!
This isn't really a software bug for chrissakes. The phone is letting you know when your storage availibilty is below 5% capacity.
I understand that is not an actual bug, it's clearly how the software is designed to behave, but does no one else think it's a bit retarded to be unable to save a picture when more than 1gb of storage space is available. It is effectively a bug in my eyes.
Do you not agree that the desire s, and probably all of HTC's gingerbread phone software builds have a disappointing number of software glitches and design problems? Coming from the desire which I found to be such a high quality product and breath of fresh air compared to previous devices, like various Nokia I owned I find it annoying and just want to highlight some issues FWIW.
Cheers.
Ok point taken. But I can't really agree about the software glitches. I've been using mine fairly intensively for a couple of months now & continue to find it smooth, fast & responsive.
I've found that a lot of problems can usually be traced to 3rd party software, often software that is intended to replace functionality provided by the native rom - such as Sense replacements etc. - or ones that tinker with "deep" system settings ie CPU etc.
But everyone's experience is different & people expect different things from these machines
Peace

Cheers, I see your point too! Don't mean to come on here and just spout negativity, maybe I expect too much! I've actually got around most of the issues that were annoying me by switching to handcent for SMS, I usually prefer stock apps but I concede that handcent is superb and it doesn't have the 'delete by selection bug'.
I do love my desire s really :-D
I know, handcent gets lots of rave reviews. Me? I just don't get it, lol. Quite happy with native sms app

I have to say I am mote than happy with ny Desire S on Orange, haven't had any issues.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App
If it wasn't for the delete by selection bug I would be happy enough with the native app, but that was making the phone unusable. Plus I discovered I can't save an mms picture to SD card even though I've got 1+ gigabyte free space (but only 4%). That was a bit annoying :-D
That's weird, I have less than 3% (2.6% to be precise) left on my SD card & can save attachments no bother.
What happens with the 'delete by selection' bug?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA Premium App
The delete by selection bug I refer to is when you press the backspace key and the phone jumps to the delete text message by selection screen for that current conversation thread. You keep pressing backspace and it just jumps back to the same screen. It's a fairly well documented problem. With the stock keyboard it occurred maybe once every 10 SMS, with the Gingerbread keyboard I'm using it was happening nearly every txt. Seems to happen particularly when you begin composing in portrait then switch to landscape.
Apologies for the lack of paragraphs!

After getting adjusted to the battery issue and the non-availability of some of the apps that I had on my iphone, I think I have convinced myself to keep the Infuse (still within my 30 day window).
Today I got an added bonus. Usually, when I switch phones, once the switch is completed, the phone is turned off and put away. Never to be seen again. I turned the iphone on today to access my contacts and started to get alerts. The phone is still connected to my wifi so I can still use all the installed apps, itunes and the apps store. Maybe known to everyone already. But it was a nice surprise to me.
I will not be walking around with an iphone and an infuse, but at least, I can still use the apps I like on the iphone.
So back to an Infuse question.
Is there a way to have the text messages unlock the screen and pop up when a text comes in. I thought I made some settings changes, but it still does not work. This was one think I was used to with the iphone.
Thanks. Stefne
It doesn't now? What about the puzzle lock screen for text messages and missed calls?
Sent from my Samsung Infuse 4G
Use something like textplusgold or Handcent and go in the settings and look for turn on screen when message received and popup

GO SMS Pro (market link) does this by default, and it is highly themeable. I personally did not like handcent, so I do not have much first hand experience, but I have heard secondhand that GO SMS PRO is faster and updated more often.
Welcome to our community & welcome to android! Maybe once your feet get wet in time, and the dev community has made more continued progress you'll see that battery life. I've had several occasions I've went 1 day+ without charging.
Search for SMS pop-up on the market. Works great.

Glad you're keepin it. I am actually a big supporter for windows phone 7. And I like android so I've been pretty torn. I almost took my infuse back for the hd7s... but I would lose my awesome voice to text, front facing camera, "4g", and more useful enterprise level apps. Oh, and I can sync 100 percent with outlook on my android. Something windows phone 7 cannot do and that is baffling.

Cursor jumps around

No matter which keyboard I use or which forum I am on, when replying to a post the cursor will jump around most of the time it ends up in the quoted portion and I find I am typing in the middle of the quote I am replying to. It also happens when using the predictions but only for the first time, afterwards the predictions go to the end of the sentence you are typing like it is suppose to.
I have a problem that's just like yours, but it happens every time I backspace a few words or the entire line of a message. It jumps me around, and it's annoying. Why does this happen?
I would wager you guys are using either the old version of TapaTalk of Opera/Firefox? I had that with the older versions of TT, and aforementioned web browsers. After going to Tapatalk HD (and the stock browser)... <poof!>... no issues anymore.

I am using Boat browser because it is compatible with flash. From what I understand it is based on the stock browser.
It's been a while since I last used Boat (I think close to a year). How does Kingsoft Office perform? (It's free on the Play Store.) That seemed to have quite a lot of typing issues with the dock, so it served as a benchmark of sorts in the beginning of the TF700 era.
I have the same issue. It did it on stock Asus as well. It only happens on the stock browser and it only happens on xda especially when I quote a reply.
The easiest way to replicate it is quote, hold finger in the middle of some text and you will see it jumping around wildly. The problem it does this when hitting back space mainly which is sooooooo annoying.
I have turned off all tweaks and hacked the browser and cannot make it stop. I have come to the conclusion that the way stock browser implements java script is just not compatible with the way this site wants to use it.
Interestingly my nexus 7 with the stock browser exhibits the same problems......
I don't have a solution although it hasn't been too bad lately, probably because I'm more careful and try not to use backspace.
I have seen it go to the first position in any text box, making me type even crazier **** than normally and the BACKSPACE key always took two presses to backspace one single position... but not the jitter... Mmmmh.. Will have to go look for it.

For me it exhibits this behavior on every forum I post on but, it will only do it the first time and afterwards its okay. I do keep an eye on it though sometimes I forget. So, if I ever post a reply and it has a quote that appears to have been changed please forgive me.

Only happens with onscreen keyboard never with the dock.
Mind you I think xda has some poor java script behind it. My HTC One X does some weird **** on this site too. Not jumping cursor but have to push back twice to actually go back.

I have gone back to the stock browser with browser2ram (and data2sd since a few days). Since CROMI has this nailed, I feel it is actually quite a bit faster than the other browsers, and I generally can do without the fluff the 3rd party browser provide (although I liked that fluff specifically at first.

That last issue was what I was referring too as well -- drove me nuts! No smaller-format keyboard is exceptionally comfortable to type on, so I make more typos than I do while on a full-format keyboard. That double-tap requirement was a really annoying "feature"!
So no one has figured out a fix for this (other than to possibly use a non-stock based browser)? This issue has been driving me nuts for quite some time. I do remember that similar issues presented itself on the GNex back in the 4.0.1 days and was fixed by turning off spell-check. I've tried this (as well as auto-correct) but the problem persists.
sbdags, is this issue still present in your new CROMIX ROM?

Sweeeeeet.....might have to bite the bullet and upgrade. Other than this issue, I've been so happy with 3.4.x I haven't been tempted to upgrade (not even sure what version of 3.4 I'm using ).
Thanks!

Couple of negatives

I noticed the stock browser which I preferred to use on the S3 doesn't have an option for text reflow (auto-fit page option), and more surprisingly the phone gets quite warm around the camera, anyone else noticed.
Try Mozilla Firefox or Dolphin or Chrome, they should all have text reflow, waiting to get my s4 so I can't help with the heat issue you asked about.
