I am trying to sync my audio collection with my Razr HD. Amaorak seems to do it okay but I would rather use banshee or even rhythmbox to do it. I have tried all the .is_audio_player tricks i can think of but nothing seems to work. My computer can see it with mtp-tools and connect as well as with gmtp. Also, i can mount with mtpfs but for whatever reason i cant get banshee to see my phone. Amarok sees it as MTP but the other two do not. Anyone else have any luck? One of the major reasons I traded my iPhone for this one was so I could get away from windows so this is pretty important to me. Im running lubuntu 12.04 32bit

I've been trying to use the built-in USB tethering with Ubuntu 10.10 without any luck. On my previous Android phones (EVO, Nexus One), all I had to do was plug in the phone, select Internet Connection Mode or USB Tethering, and Ubuntu would automatically find a new connection (Auto usb0). That's it...no config needed.
The Thunderbolt has been another story. I can't get Ubuntu to see an internet connection for anything.
Can anyone shed any light on this? I'd really prefer to use the built-in tethering rather than go to something like EasyTether or PdaNet.
I'd still say easytether
All I have to do is type easytether connect and bam

Me too
I also have been trying desperately to make this work too, since it worked so well with my Eris and other phones. I think the problem lies in the proprietary HTC drivers - it seems that the driver built into LibUSB for cellular modems doesn't play nice with the HTC software. In Windows, there is an executable that installs the driver, and I have been thinking that I might be able to make it work using Ndiswrapper, but I have not had time to play around with it a whole lot.
I suspect that a release will come along eventually to update libUSB to work with the new HTC software, but in the mean time, EasyTether works great. I made a quicklaunch icon in gnome panel that links to the the EasyTether connection script - it will have to do until I can get native tethering to work.
If anyone else is working on this, I'd be willing to lend a hand with testing and troubleshooting.
Seems like I have the same problem with Ubuntu 10.10 and my rooted HD2 running Android. I think it has got something to do with the RDNIS drivers or something ??? Easytether is no option because it works for like 5 minutes then I need to restart the connection to get it working again ( very annoying ). I would much rather prefer to use the inbuilt tethering option on my rooted phone than yet another pointless piece of software. Maybe another Linux distro that supports this way of tethering ???
Thanks !
I noticed there were a number of threads on this in other forums for other devices besides the charge. However it doesn't seem like the fix seems to work in my case. Anyone else having the same issue? Preferably I like to use dual-mount USB but no matter how I connect it comes up as a CDrom. Any help on this? I am on Windows 7. I imagine on other OSes like Linux it will work just fine. Just haven't unpacked my linux boxes yet (just moved)
hey XDAs
received my omnia 7 on last friday and it´s everything i could´ve asked for!
but now i got a little problem...
at first, some facts: i´m on a macbook pro and i use the windows phone 7 connector (tried win 7 and zune via boot camp, too).
i tried to unlock with 2 different trys, a) with chevron and b) with some dialer code to get in the "diagnosis" menu........both tries failed!
but after b) i got a new "diagnosis" tile in my apps menu
now i have the problem, that my pc can´t recognize the phone anymore...win 7 and zune say "no phone connected" and the wp7 connector (mac) doesn´t do anything (should start automatically, when phone is plugged in) but i get a "new network device found" message where i need to configure the new device.
(in addition, i THINK that my phone doesn´t even load the battery through the usb port, so maybe my cable is broken?)
maybe i can´t connect my phone because of the "diagnosis" menu?? and how can i remove this app??? maybe i should do a factory reset?
so what´s the problem here??? even if i can´t do the unlock, it sucks not being able to put music, videos or even updates on my omnia ;(
really nobody?
I don't know anything about using Macs with a WP7, but on windows, you need yo make sure you have the latest Zune. Also, if you have hacked to allow tethering, you have also turned off the Zune sync function.

The problem is you aren't actually running windows, it's still a virtual system. The USB controls are still through your mac. You will not be able to connect your win7 phone to a mac, that is not possible, and your wasting your time even attempting it. Sell the mac and buy a laptop, you will be happier.

If he's using VMWare fusion and accessing a Win7 guest via OSX host, then you're right.
However, if he's dual-booting Win7 through Boot Camp, then it should still work.
Samsung phones, like LG phones, have a way of switching the USB mode to allow Zune or allow tethering (the latter killed by Mango).
Monkeytown will have to follow the instructions for changing the USB mode back to the one that allows for Zune (on LG phones, it's called MS COMPOSITE).
i´m running a dual boot system, no vmware...
and microsoft released the wp7 connector themselves for mac, so it SHOULD work :/
i think i never saw an option of tethering in the settings menu, so how can i do that? i mean, change the usb mode
/e: i managed to get another omnia 7, and it works like a charm via my usb cable and mac connector
so....i would like to see the instructions that i should follow -.-
This is Crazy :/
When I connect to the Hotspot my One S makes, my 4 year old Dell XPS BSOD's like a teenage girl given a pony.
I've tried the wifi driver from dell, the MS driver, and the newest driver from Intel (4965agn).
I've installed Barnacle Wifi Tether, but that only works in ad-hoc mode (here I'm thinking I should yell at HTC )
Is anyone else experiencing anything remarkably similar? (or is it my old pc f*cking up?)
Other than that: I'm still so in love with the finish of this device, though it'll see a miui rom or two when they arrive

Intel. The hotspot can't possibly be telling the machine to do something crazy. Sounds like an issue with the wifi drivers for your machine. Also, don't use Barnacle. Use Open Garden, as it works fine. Standard security does not work (options are ipconfig and wpa_supplicant, which makes no sense), however it has Access Control so any device that wants to join must get permission from your phone (and therefore YOU) before it'll allow a connection.
I'm so glad I'm not alone! I got the exact same problem with my One S and 4965AGN. Too bad I haven't found a solution yet though...
Have the exact same issue....
You can try digging a little deeper by analyzing the minidump file using windows debug tools.

My friend busted the screen on her razr, and we were trying to get her photos off of it with my laptop, but windows explorer wont recognize any of the files on it. anybody know of some third party software that might help? Unfortunately, she wasnt using an sd card, so all the photos are on the phones internal storage. The phone is unrooted and my computer is running windows 7
Try turning usb debugging on.

For me personally MTP always worked better and more stable under Linux than under W7. Try downloading a ubuntu live cd (has to be ubuntu 13.04) and try connect to the phone with the live system. 13.04 supports MTP natively, so it should be as easy as plug & play.
Just a thought: have you installed the motorola sw with the drivers before trying to connect to the phone?

maybe a silly question, but did she have the cloud sync turned on? They might be safe & sound & waiting for you.
