[Q] How to kill apk ultimately? - General Questions and Answers

I am fighting with "upc phone" apk.
This is an application for internet calling using my conventional phone nomber with UPC.
Problem is that I dont need this app to be active all the time draining my battery.
I managed to exclude apk from autostart and until manual start all is ok.
I can kill the apk after finishing my call from task manager, but in few second apk starts again and again.
Is there a way to prevent apk from atotomated start after killing from task manager or to kill this apk ultimately?

closing applications automatically

I have task manager 2.7 which features a "switch minimize and exit buttons" option between its options. I mark this option as my programs are quitting after a couple of minutes automatically but it doesn´t work. (this option is always un-checked every time I restarted the task manager no matter if i check it again).
Is there a way to uninstall task manager?
Is there anyway I can tweak the register to do this without having to install task manager?
(I like the programs to stay running as it makes my wizard more efficient and fast)
thanks a lot!!
Mmmmmm
Nop... so change your rom if you dont like this feature and it works bad for you.

[Problem] Multiple instances of 'Phone'

Merry Christmas all, and sorry to bother you on a holiday..
I've recently started using AEBPlus, and thru it's task manager, noticed that whenever I use the Phone, the 'Phone' process lingers on. I'm unable to terminate it. If I switch to some other program and press the green button to make another call, a second 'Phone' process starts and it continues to run in the background after I'm done with it. This can pile up eventually, leading to 3, 4 or more such processes.
It's not a bug with AEBplus's task manager, because I'm actually able to switch to each individual instance of 'Phone' and use the features. This results in unnecessary usage of RAM/CPU so I end up soft-resetting after every call.
So is there any way to prevent multiple instances of 'Phone' running?, or, a setting to terminate the process after I end the call and minimize/close it, or, any program I can use to manually close the 'Phone' task? I could whip up a MortScript to look up the 'Phone' window name and end it, but I don't think it'd work as AEB's task manager isn't able to end it..
I am using the default windows dialer btw, on a non-htc WM6 PPC.
Even in 2010, on WM6.5 ROM, I am facing exactly same issue! Not sure if it actually means problem i.e. more memory/CPU time.
fdcTask Manager shows all "Phone" applications hosted by cprog.exe.

Any program to automatically kill tasks on WM Smartphone Edition?

I got my father a sprint HTC Snap (Dash 3g) and was wondering if there is a program that would automatically kill running tasks. I don't think he will bother to go to the task manager and kill the task from there. There are no apps that he would want running in the background so Everything can be killed.
Any app for that? There is no exit option in IE and the camera and many other apps which I think is retarded.
I think the way he exits a program is by pressing the Home key and it keeps the program running in the background.

I'm using Oxios CloseApps, works perfect.
Google for it!
Thanks for the reply. This program seems good, Does this program shut the apps automatically, or do I have to run it once in a while. Maybe shuts all programs every 5 minutes if the phone isn't currently on... or maybe shuts idle tasks after they havent been used for several minutes.. etc
If there isn't such an app, is there an app that would automatically open a program every xx minutes? then I can train that app to open Oxios every couple of minutes.
If it was my phone, I wouldn't mind running it, but then again this is for my father and I don't think he would bother.

Stratup manager that actually can prevent startup of processes.

Hello,
I have tested many many startup cleaning apps. I have wandered in the forums and external app sources but never found a true startup manager that can prevent startup of apps. I have 275 apps installed on my phone and at least 20-30 does not have option to disable themselves on startup and just run all the time and i have to kill them occasionally.
Here is what all startup cleaners do:
- you boot the phone
- clutter begins, all process of ruthless apps are started at the same time
- phone hangs for minutes (3-10)
- your startup manager was set by you to "prevent" some of them however it just loads along with them then kills the listed processes.
- some "good" programs then exit other run all the time and has to be killed once more manually even though they have no more to do!
So basically this does not speeds up the startup but prolongs it as you have one more app running that has to take care of the startup apps. This is not the right way!
Can we just have one app that can REMOVE from the startup all of these processes and then exit? Configure once in a while and has no running process?
The same for WiFi. There are many that start with WiFi enabled and begin pulling crap from the internet. This should happen only if i need it!
When i enable my WiFi i have 2-3 minutes lag because of the population that is attempting to get the internet access one on top another faster... Most of them i need only at will. I dont need them to run all the time or when i enable my net.
No one knows of such app here? Common!
Try autostarts. ;-)
Hmm that one seems to do the job!

did you try Autorun Manager, it seems to work quite ok for me...
another alternative could be Optimize Toolbox, although this one seems to disable only apps based on startup receiver

Apps are FCing more and more - known problem apps?

So I have an Acer Iconia A500 running 4.0.3 non-rooted.
Its got to the point where I'm at my wits end and need to take action. Over the last couple months I suspect it just hadn't been running right and has been getting progressively worse. Apps FC a lot more than ever. I've installed a lot over the months so doing process of elimination by uninstalling one at a time would be a pain.
This is why I'm wondering if there's any particular apps that are known to bog the system down. Here's a screenshot of what's running/URL]per Advanced Task Killer. I've killed tasks but they obviously start right back up and really its no use - nor is the built in task killer with Astro File Manager. Also I have no idea why some of those are running as I just rebooted my device before taking that screenshot. The only thing I've physically opened was the browser and Google Play music.
Also, is there any kind of app out there that can diagnose or sniff out the problem apps or a log that will tell me what's going haywire?
Any help is appreciated, really trying to avoid wiping the device.
Android has the autostart option for apps. The apps can use the onBoot service/ after boot completed to start, this explains the started apps after the reboot.
You can use the logcat to see why there are fc's of some apps.
Not every app is without errors and warnings, it could be a developer related problem. And btw android needs no task manager/ killer.
