Did you look around before you posted this thread?
Answer is pretty easy to find in the development threads
Is there something that could allow this? I mean, patch or flashing?
OTG
Sure!
OTG ( On - The - Go ) need a module ( or kernel build-in ) for this scope, we need a good kernel development ( like dhiru - UC - Vurrut and Bam ) to implement this, anyway we need wait there's no way to implement it without kernel supports

Omap3630 supports usb otg if im not wrong
Sent from my GT-I9003 using XDA
Yes it supports. There is a program named module loader. We can use it but we have to change inside of otg cable as I know. I didnt tried it and never heared about it works or not.

Hardware required is the same for all phone, change in base of chipset, Omap3630 support it , but because android is like a PC, not need only OTG module , behind there are a lot of work can change base to phone, not only to compile the module and modprobe it ^^

Sony Xperia L doesn´t support USB OTG in an official way
Screw around with some stuff and try to figure out how to develop USB Otg support. Or maybe ( if you're too lazy. ) request USB OTG in a popular ROM. Are you even unlocked or rooted? You just bought your Xperia but who knows?

Well , first you need to root your device then you install StickMount app by Chainfire in google play then when you insert pendrive then click on mount option over there then download File Manager by Rhythm Software in google play then at path :sdcard/" you will get a folder over there , enjoy now you can use otg on a non- supportable device

In my way. It'll never works if ROM doesn't supported it.
For example my nexus 7, using stock ROM rooted and installed Nexus Media Import(USB OTG Mount) didn't work. But while changed to Custom ROM that in Settings - Storage that available if u have USB-OTG for mounting it works. so Basically it will supported by ROM that have feature for USB-OTG Mounter.

didnt get stickmount app in playstore.
it was done for nexus 4, so i think can be done for XL too. however, you may need otg y cable to get 5v if device doesn't supply (like N4 users do)
usb otg
Hello, everybody.
I have discovered that with "USB OTG Helper" from Play Store
you can have OTG on Xperia L.
But Xperia L doesn`t give power to the stuff I´ve plugged in.
So I used a hub with external power supply and a wall outlet
adaptor to connect my pendrive and it works.
Hope I´ve helped you all.

Smashed the Thanks button
I know it's an old app but I used to use Drivedroid often for mounting and using iso/img files.
Tried using it with my 3a and I get the error message shown in the attached image.
I have read somewhere that USB Mass Storage Mode is part of the kernel; am I missing something simple that would allow me to enable it?
I've tried the stock kernel which didn't work, and I'm currently on ElementalX 2.14 which also doesn't work
Also tried the MKV kernel from here but couldn't even boot my phone with that?
Any help or pointing to further reading or resources would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ?
Ahh sorry the image upload hasn't worked but it's words to the effect that: no usb mass storage host can be detected.

Sure on the drivedroid thread there is a section with the necessary commits that would need to be added to the kernel to get usb mass storage working, you could try asking in the elemental thread if he would consider adding the required commits to the kernel

Been a while so went and refreshed my memory with the drivedroid thread, the patches might not help with the USB mass storage issue, the patches are for USB/CD Rom drive emulation, definitely worth asking in the elemental kernel thread about it as the developer may have an idea why mass storage is not working with the pixel 3a, think the drivedroid thread mentions that elemental kernel was working on the old nexus 5 (hammerhead) phone,

Yeah I'm just busy reading up on that myself, I had mentioned it in the EXKM thread a short while ago but didn't get a reply so I think the dev might be a bit busy? Thanks again

Just went and checked the elemental thread and saw you asked the question, think it got missed! Have you tried contacting the drivedroid developer to see if they could help troubleshoot the UMS issue?

Nah I haven't contacted them, I think it's an abandoned project now
Which is a shame because it's really useful.

Think the drivedroid developer frozencow, is still active, try asking again in the elemental kernel thread and link to the drivedroid thread, haven't used drivedroid in ages but it is a mighty fine bit of software,
