I know it's an old app but I used to use Drivedroid often for mounting and using iso/img files.
Tried using it with my 3a and I get the error message shown in the attached image.
I have read somewhere that USB Mass Storage Mode is part of the kernel; am I missing something simple that would allow me to enable it?
I've tried the stock kernel which didn't work, and I'm currently on ElementalX 2.14 which also doesn't work
Also tried the MKV kernel from here but couldn't even boot my phone with that?
Any help or pointing to further reading or resources would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks ?
Ahh sorry the image upload hasn't worked but it's words to the effect that: no usb mass storage host can be detected.

Sure on the drivedroid thread there is a section with the necessary commits that would need to be added to the kernel to get usb mass storage working, you could try asking in the elemental thread if he would consider adding the required commits to the kernel

Been a while so went and refreshed my memory with the drivedroid thread, the patches might not help with the USB mass storage issue, the patches are for USB/CD Rom drive emulation, definitely worth asking in the elemental kernel thread about it as the developer may have an idea why mass storage is not working with the pixel 3a, think the drivedroid thread mentions that elemental kernel was working on the old nexus 5 (hammerhead) phone,

You should post the features and download link in here too. More people will look at it because the information of the kernel is included.
is there a way to get dt2w and s2w working permanently? i need synapse to load and it takes time and manually enable them under sys/android_touch didn't work.
and i get fc when trying to change cpu governor to msm dcvs.
other than that the kernel works flawlessly and is flying (17774 on AnTuTu)

You can edit it in sys/customization/android touch something like that i think. then edit the d2w and s2w. change both to 1

use synapse..MSM Governor is just like a Dummy Governor..do not use it..else your phone will be unstable..you can permanently enable DT2W and S2W from synapse..have you read the preface message from the app??it will save your preferred setting and have to be able to stay stable within 20 seconds for synapse to remember it..upon reboot just wait for Synapse to fully load your settings and you have it automatically enabled..
can someone here confirm that your chip can go 1.8Ghz..well never saw a someone go within that range also as far as documentation from Qualcomm is concerned the Snapdragon 400 Cortex A7 SOC can just go up to 1.7Ghz..
Edit:
here's a soooooo much silent Community..

Q&A for [ROM] [18Aug] [GNU/Linux] Sailfish OS (Alpha) - now with MultiROM
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
5pik3 said:
When I flashed sailfish from the zip before the multirom version, I saw my internal storage (I needed root access to see it), in a dark corner of the system folders, but now with the .mrom version I can't find it anymore :'(
Anyway I found a easier solution to use the jolla store and have keyboard predictions, a solution where you don't have to edit any file \o/
If you want to install warehouse app download from here https://openrepos.net/content/basil/warehouse-sailfishos
Now open your terminal app or use the ssh access.
You need to have root permissions with 'devel-su'. Enter your password (the one in the developper options in the settings app).
Now you have to disable some repos : enter 'ssu dr home' and 'ssu dr adaptation0'.
Try a litle 'zypper refresh' and you will see no more authentication errors
And you can install the warehouse app with 'pkcon install-local /home/nemo/Downloads/harbour-warehouse-0.3-20.armv7hl.rpm'
And finally you type 'pkcon install store-client jolla-xt9 jolla-xt9-cp'
You can now have the keyboard prediction's and have both warehouse and jolla store to work

Well, i also hope it comes soon. For myself it would be enough, if OTA could be enabled and the WLAN Bug get fixed.
WLAN Issues
Is anyone else having issues with WLAN access?
It recognises the networks and signs in but doesn't appear to be connecting to the internet.
hotfix Repository
First, thanks for all your efforts and keep up the good work.
Why don't you keep the hotfix repository open for future fixes?

Hey guys. Read all thread and also followed the instructions in the OP. Got Cataclysm (06 fev nightly) has primary and tried SFO as secondary in multirom v30. Can't pass google logo on first boot. Tried also power button boot and nothing happens. Is there some trick that I didn't see it? Thanks in advance.

seems like there is something wrong with the multirom bootloader. if can you get into your android, just install multirom manager again.
Hello i have a problem with the rom it wont boot i have multirom installed. Is it something wrong with that?
Not entirely a question.
Since I haven't met the 10 post thing since I only lurk but have been on these forums for years I'm stuck posting here. I encountered a bug in the alpha7 build that wasn't present in alpha6 and was wondering if anyone else encountered this as well. I can no longer play music through the media app or when setting a song as the ringtone. Not the biggest problem but I was still curious.

you unlocked your Bootloader and install the sailfish alpha together with the Cyanogenmod version mentioned in the first Thread?
Maybe the TWRP Output could gave some hints? Have you tried to install ubuntu touch first - just for testing if it's possible.
Don't get me wrong, but if you want to get help, you have to provide some information first. And "it doesn't work" isn't an Description.

Looked into it and after some googling I feel stupid for questioning it. It's a licensing thing. Got it working by installing gst-fluendo-mp3.
For anyone interested since the repo many websites referenced is down. (Since I can't posts links...) Google "mega !2IFlGYLY!ze9nKF...bqTlPc0ujQaG9g" and ctrl-f the same thing and you'll find it.

I did find this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2936721
however when I looked in the makefile, I found absolutely no flag, but still it builds in block form whenever I try to build something, and ends up failing to flash with a "can't execute updater binary/script" or whatever error. Any idea how to force it to build in a legacy manner, or is it just something that would require practically porting stuff to source code of kitkat to get that to work? I'm building from cm12 source from the cyanogenmod repos, with proprietary blobs pulled from the phone running a different cm build/some other repo at times, same thing both ways.

OK, so I went into that file, changed the default flag inside to true and the lower part that defines what happens with an if/if not kind of thing, and (low and behold) it compiled with a legacy style. I now have a different problem, though the same as I had before. When I try to install it with the latest multirom (I'm backing up to try and flash as a main rom) it fails, saying that there was an error executing updater binary in zip "/tmp/mr_update.zip" and it doesn't install at all. Any ideas what may be the problem now?

transparent file streaming. meaning no buffer time. it's as if you're accessing the file in your internal storage. useful for streaming large files (like HD films) from your computer.
someone please correct me if I'm wrong though.

It doesn't mean no buffer time but it essentially means that any app can access it and you don't have to rely on per-app support.
Buffer time is also usually lessened.
This really looks promising, gotta give a try. Thanks, man

thanks for the explanation.
I seem to recall if I use apps like es file explorer to access videos on pc, I'd have to wait until the full file being transferred to the device (I assume some sort of local temporary file would be created), and then only the video starts playing. however with cifs this was not the case. the video would just play normally as if it was located in the phone storage. note that this was my experience a couple of years back though.
Isn't the kernel the source for the knock on feature for waking up or closing the screen?

Awesome work! thanks!,
Would it be possible to add some I/O Schedulers, like BFQ and such? and maybe faux sound?
That would be super epic if possible!
If someone could provide the boot.img or zip to flash that would be highly appreciated. I flashed the development kernel from the other thread and I'm getting a few random reboots.

To be fair. I think it may have been my deadline scheduler changes that caused the issue. Changed back to bfq and now OK.
Regarding using this kernel, I'm used to recovering from boot loops, blank screens etc etc. I have no issue testing beta/alpha stuff and appreciate the risks

Build the same kernel, but swap the ramdisk. Having a published kernel doesn't ban you from asking questions in the kernel development thread. There is no point trying to reinvent the wheel when you could be driving.

Developer Abhishek987 brought full project treble support to Redmi Note 4 (mido), by converting cust partition to vendor partition, and moving HALs from system to there.
Being in similar rom resolution, other mid range devices may support project treble in future too. I'd like to tag recognized developers @brigudav, @karevn, @Razziell, @psykkuno, @unterwelt to look into it.

It's stated in the thread, you should install the modded TWRP with Treble support and install the modded Magisk version from the Tools section. The download gives 404 on 4pda, I got it from here: https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=890129502657599344

I don't have any of these issues, so sadly I can't help you. The only bug I have is that sometimes it reboots randomly, but it kinda happened with other ROMs too
