how to turn on 3g on lg g2x at&t :: please ::

hello
-- i new buy lg g2x . and unlocked it because i use at&t . everything good
but i turn on 3g for at&t it;s not work . gsm only ok but CDMA (3g) not work
-- ios 2.2.2 orignal ::
-- pl help me turnon 3g . i need 3g please

use *#*#4636#*#* go to phone info then change the network to WcDMA preferred.

The G2x doesn't have ATT 3G bands on board. You'll only ever get 2G.

Sounds like you got rickrolled into purchasing a phone. Lawl.

No 3G. Baseband chip only supports 3G on 1700 and 2100. AT&T uses 850 and 1900 so it will never get 3G on AT&T unless the TMO merger goes through (highly unlikely) and they keep the TMO frequencies (again highly unlikely).

The only phones that support AT&T and T-Mobile bands is high end NOKIA devices
N8, E7, E6
Its Symbian and sad to say, it's not in the same league as Android.
And trust me, I'm even looking for AT&T phones only to have options for any type of GSM carrier. Mostly because of pre-paid devices use AT&T or T-mobile bands
Its not a total loss. You could get Simple Mobile No contract plans. You'll get 4G. Its not AT&T but its only way you'll get high speed on the G2X.
And if you are on AT&T contract, you did get suckered into buying a phone. Live and learn I say.

You could always sell it to somebody else.

I have the same problem but i use videotron. I dont have a data or 3g
Connection. What i need to do to activate and use internet ... i new with the phone ... thanks to help.

Yeah it's a bit much, but they're still begging for help when they've already been answered with the only answer possible:
You cannot use 3G on the T-Mobile G2x on AT&T. No software could possibly solve this. It is a physical limitation in the hardware modem. It might be somehow possible to rip the current modem out and solder a new one in and redo the base hardware drivers etc etc but that would be far more trouble than it is worth.
So, you can't use 3G on the T-Mobile G2x on AT&T. Period. Fin. End of story. Close thread please..

Could someone help with my phone problem? I have wifi data connection but no 3g connection. I'm with a provider like t mobile ... videotron... same bandwidth ... but I never see any 3g icons or something else... how to configure that?

Go into your settings, wireless & networks, mobile networks, access point names and set up a new apn for Videotron. Don't as her for the information to enter. Google for it. You should set up one for internet and one for mms.

LATAM Baseband

I have seen many threads talking about basebands, but I can't find anyone clearly explaining in which country/region a given baseband in supposed to work well, and where it doesn't.
I need a Gingerbread baseband for my Optimus 3D that will fully work in Latin America region, I'm afraid to get in trouble if I flash the european GB baseband I found in this forum, and loose some (or all) frequencies in my country.

Me too. I'm in Canada and when I flashed the euro gb baseband I lost all connectivity.

I know these boards have picked up a bit but it's kind of depressing considering all the action I see when I check up on the Sensation threads for my other phone. You'd think that because this phone is so sweet and comes completely unlocked there would be a lot of development going on.

I flashed latest KDZ file for o3d even though i have a thrill 4g and 3g and all other things work great except i don't have 4g to test on this country

I have no idea why it's not working. Both AT&T and Bell use the 850 and 1900mhz frequencies for their respective UMTS networks, but up in Canada we can't even get the phone to recognize our network. I'd be happy with 3G speeds for now, but that's not even possible. I wonder if AT&T uses other bands for 3G speeds as well?

My phone is a P920 of European origin and have had to put the 3G baseband of a Thrill. This in Froyo. Also the one I have worked p920h.
Until no one KDZ for America or get a baseband for this continent, you lose the 3g frequencies 850 and 1900.
Keep in mind that the baseband is independent of the rom, which means that after installing the baseband you can put any rom, whether European or American.
The Ginger there so far is European and therefore everything is lost that frequency.

I'm using euro gb fw, and everything is working fine, although I have an edge icon instead of 3g, think it's cause of the region can't remember if it happened with my old x10.
this can be an issue unless it's showed like that when not having data enabled

I happen to be in a 1900 umts AT&T area, but it was too spotty and I went back to Froyo. Though for those of us who have to wait, I have a froyo custom kernel with init.d support below (thrillz) that I've been running on my p925 on the roadrunner rom.

Good Evening!
I figured I would install the GB KDZ again.
For no apparent reason after the reboot I was registered on the network (Bell) and have had no problems as of yet (Only has been an hour or so).
I wish I had an answer as to why it worked this time.

Apparently Rogers is one of the last carriers to get on board with Gingerbread and is holding up LG.

Good Morning,
My device is a Rogers device unlocked and used on the Bell network.
After flashing the V21a Gingerbread KDZ a second time I am having no issues at all!
I wish I could tell you why it worked this time when the original baseband flash method and my first flash of the V21a KDZ both resulted in network issues.
I didn't do anything differently the second time I flashed the KDZ and was immediately registered on the network. I have had no issues since lastnight.
I will let you know if anything changes!

Thanks for the info. I guess since you got on the bell network, the rogers network should also work? Maybe not actually because rogers GSM. Is your connection Gsm Too? I am a bit nervous flashing kdz file. Its not standard zip flash through cwm is it?
I also worried about flashing baseband.
Do you know if I have made nandrroid backup of my 2.2 and need to restore, will my backup flash 2.2 baseband back on automatically?

When running speedtests I average between 2.5 and 5.5 Mbps (depending on the time of day). This is pretty much what I saw on Froyo. No complaints here!

Good Evening,
The phone is running great. I currently have the Acura ROM installed.
Battery life is an incredible improvement!
The icon I have is "H" (so 3G not HSPA+ yet); and the speeds are as previously mentioned averaging between 2.5 Mbps and 5.5 Mbps depending on the time of day and signal strength.
No random disconnects; voice and data (3G/WIFI) work without issue.

so guys im running a tmobile g2x with weapon 3.0 travel to mexico frequently and have my phone unlocked to put a telcel sim in my phone so I dont get crazy charges but my data speeds seem to be snail like ... doing the research I found out that my g2x supports telcels 3g bandwidth so blind guessing id imagine there has to be something i can do to get my phone to be on there 3 g service when I travel..??? pleaseeee help!!!! thanks

What research did you do? G2x has bands I and IV. Telcel uses II and V.

Not the best with grammer I looked up the frequencies I believe it was both 1700?

Where'd you find that? Telcel's website says otherwise.

so the tmo part is easy i went to tmo then i searched but couldnt find anything directly from telcel but i did find this site and a few others that all matched i cant put a link cause im a new guy but its gsmworld
im definetly a noob but it seems the numbers line up that telcel uses 850/1900/2100 and the g2x supports them the band I and IV i dont know much about. Just thought if the numbers matched id be gtg!!! hopefully i can get some luvin and somebody can fix me up and not tell me im a fool!!

From Telcel's website: "TELCEL's network is 1900 Mhz for GSM and 850 Mhz for 3G"
850Mhz UMTS (band V) is not supported for the g2x. In short, you're stuck on edge with that phone.

I have some choice words for that setup bit don't think.xda would approve!! I'm still slightly confused with the diiference on the bands and bandwidths they should.make the numbers not the same so a following like me can understand easier! well thank you vet much for your help

After more testing i realised that I am able to connect to Telus and Bell as well as Rogers....still no Videotron...what is going on?
