So I've been trying to mod my One X's Seidio kickstand case to accomodate a Touchstone back.

I've been following the guide located here: http://www.android-hilfe.de/anleitu...eitung-induktionslade-mod-fuer-das-one-x.html
except that rather than actually opening my phone up, I'm lining up the wires inside the case to touch pogo pins 1 and 5.
So I know that the Touchstone and the back both work fine, because my multimeter says that there's current going through the wires when the Touchstone is connected. However, when I connect the wires to the back of the Touchstone (I connected the bottom wire to the top pogo pin, and vice versa, according to the German guide), the phone doesn't charge.
However, I know it's not a connection issue, because I stupidly decided to see what would happen if I connected the top wire to the top pin and vice versa. The phone shorted.
Luckily - LUCKILY - it booted up afterwards and appears fine, but I'm aware that I easily could have bricked my phone, so I'm not too keen on trying other dumb things.
Am I using the wrong pogo pins? The guide I referred to uses an international One X, so if there's any variation there , that could be what is making the difference. Or, it could just be that the Pre requires much less power than the One X, and the phone is charging, but it just doesn't realize that fact.
If it makes a difference, I'm running CM10.
Edit: also, if anyone has any idea how to get the contacts to touch the pogo pins securely while the phone is inside the case, that's another thing that's been stumping me for a while. It sucks that the pins are recessed...
I'm not 100% sure, but i've heard somewhere that pogo pins don't not work on custom kernels [stock support it], so if you are on CM10 you can't get it work.

Oh, that sucks. There's no mod or anything to enable it?
I can assure you that I have tired exactly the same modification with CM10 and it is charging.

Ah, neat! How did you get the wires to stay in contact with the body of the phone? Did you just tape them on or something?
And the bottom Touchstone contact (GND) goes to the top pogo pin, right? And the top Touchstone contact is 5v, and goes to the bottom pin?
It would be great to see this work.
It's been done before, I just haven't personally gotten it to work.
I've been trying to get it to work on mine too. I don't have a multimeter on me so I haven't been able to test my connections but they seem ok? I'm using copper tape.

i monitored with a multimeter the top and bottom pin on the back cover during the charging..
The TOP pin on the HOX has 5V (top is the side where is located the power button)
The BOTTOM pin on the HOX has GND

I'm planning to do this on my wifes HOX. I did this mod on my Galaxy S3 and now she wants it too. I think you should try using some copper tape instead of hoping that taping the wires down would work. Take a look at the Galaxy thread and how the copper tape was used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877191 You can get copper tape from Michael's.
I've got some ideas for a different approach to this. I'll post later this week if I can get it to work--parts are on order.
can somone post pics and details on how you got this working, i would love to do with mod but that German Page is getting me all confused.
please post pics and detail thanks

I'm modding the S4 to work with the Palm touchstone wireless charging dock and found out that even without modding the phone the touchstone has pretty strong magnets that hold the phone all by itself. When I get some copper tape I'll finish the mod and show my results.
If you have the touchstone you can use it as a magnetic dock like I am currently. It's pretty cool, also it holds the phone pretty strongly, In fact I can use the phone while it's on the dock. Even when charging (usb cable connected) it still holds the phone nicely...

I'd like to see your mods to the coil. I was playing with a spare coil and trying to figure out how to position near the bottom and make the electrical connections.
Thanks.

Do all the Palm touchstones use qi technology or is that what you're modding. I have already ordered the module from wiqiqi for the S 4 for $25 bucks but didn't like the big flat plate they sold. This would be a great alternative for work.

No, the palm is not QI. You will not be able to mix and match coils and chargers.. The Palm coil and Touchstone only with work together.
i´ve done it last year with the S3 and Note 2. Now i did it with the S4 and it works like a charm
Here are my Pictures.
great work! Which of the terminals is positive and negative, and also, which ports do you connect
i used .the left connector´s. It was more luck that it works because i don´t know why there are on the right side another connectors .
I couldn´t say which one is the positive and which is nagative because i didn´t test it. I´ve connect it like on my pictures and it work´s.
I´ve used the left connector´s because they are the same then on S3 and Note 2. I think the right connector´s are for NFC because the original Samsung Cover is "extreme" fat
With my solution there is a little camber in the Battery Case and nothing else. That means that you can use any nice thin Protection Cover for the S4 and it charges through the Cover.
That looks really nice.
Did you do any soldering?
Very cool. How effective is charging with this? How long does it take? Thanks.

Hi to all! Bought one kit yesterday. It's a great invention but, once again, the "engineers" managed to somehow design, computer assisted , the thickest heaviest cover ever!!
My S Charging Cover lasted about 2 hours and now, I've surgically extracted the important stuff. The insert will be inlaid into the S View Cover that can be machined with a micromotor. This cover is thick enough to get the inlay.

Question! Do you have any cases at all that work with the wireless charging cover? What are they, if so?
I'm using a Cruzerlite TPU case and the Metrans wireless charging insert. NFC and wireless charging are working together, if that helps. At least with my NFC tags. I haven't tried it with an NFC payment machine yet.

Interesting, My NFC did not work with the Metrans insert. I even took the back cover off and actually touched the tag to the battery and still nada. If I shifted the tag to the left as far as it would go and still make electrical contact, the NFC would work, but then it actually was past the edge of the phone. I thought about trimming it down, but the leads from the IC to the contacts run on that side of the insert really close to the edge so I would have cut them.
For now, I am waiting for two more tags...and the note 2 NFC antenna. I will get a combo working. And if not, I may just get the Sammy one and go caseless. Maybe someone will at least make a bumper or something someday.
Its really a shame its not built in....one of the phones big weaknesses in terms of hardware.

as you can see, just between the PCB and the induction coil, there is a rest of the NFC extra antenna that I've cut. the NFC wires overlap those from the induction coil. it seems samsung guys supplemented the NFC antenna from the battery, in this charging cover. I can assure you NFC is still working with the original battery included antenna and the insert in the photo..

Nothing held it in place perfectly like this did. Literally half a mm shift and it doesn't make contact. It has to be exactly precise.

If you mean the Exynos version then yes, my 915S from Korea looks to have the same contact points.
The only thing I have a question about is that if you only need those 2 contacts for wireless charging what does the other 4 contacts on the official qi backing support?
Fast charging maybe?
Anyone have any verification on this affecting NFC? Full Charge time?

Is fastcharge supported through Qi if I have a samsung Qi charger?
I only have a Ravpower powerbank/qi charger combo which I doubt would support it if it did exist for Qi.
Asking so that my test can be more accurate. I guess I'll test to see if the charge time is the same without fastcharge.
I got mine yesterday.
The only problem i have experienced is the 2 buttons not making good contact with the phone. It seems that the case cover wont press down on them hard enough.
All i did was got a bit of electrical tape and made a small square, so that when the case cover is put back on it puts more pressure on the contacts.
Aside from that it works great.
I have a incipo case and it charges with it on the Note Edge.
Have not tested the NFC but i dont see that being an issue if the phone is charging.

Is the weak contact when you have it in the case or off the case. I feel like if it's inside the case it would make the back press down a bit more?

It seems that the qi piece isnt making contact. Like the gold contacts are not big/thick enough to make contact. So If i just put the qi receiver with no tape and the battery cover, it wont charge. When i add the little bit of tape it, and put the battery cover on its enough to push the qi receiver contacts down to make better contact.

3-4 days.
Its no big deal to me. Its not like you see it. and it doesnt make the case bulge any. And it works.
No contact issues here. None at all.
Cool type-c charging dock is available for all type-c charging interface. I think it is so cool.
Charging as well as function as a stand dock for watching at good angle.

Can you do better than that? Without at least a product name, no one can possibly find the product you're talking about... How about a direct link? (witrig.com ain't a thing.)
EDIT: Nevermind
I am so sorry. I have no right to post a link before, so i just give a blurred address. http://www.witrigs.com/type-c-charging-dock-station-black Here is the Type-C charging dock. Hope it does help.

I don't think Sarvi dock supports USB C.

It sure does - you use your existing USB C cable. There's an adapter you run your cable through, then tighten the set screws to hold it in place. It's a pretty ingenious design, which explains why their kickstarter got funded so quickly.
If you view their videos, you'll see what I'm referencing.

It just holds the cable and works with any type according to their website. Another member posted in a separate OP saying it worked with the google type c cable. I have one enroute so I'll let you know
Can confirm that the Sarvi dock works perfectly fine with the stock Google USB-C cable (I have one currently sitting on my desk - pic of it in another thread)

I'm using the Sarvi Dock paired with the official 3 ft-long USB A-C cable from the Google Store. Pretty happy with it so far because its adapter system lets me use any cable of varying connector size and its 100% case-compatible just by adjusting how much the USB connector sticks out from the docking base, and the angle at which the phone rests. There's a thin rubber strip that keeps the phone from wobbling side to side, and sticky feet on the bottom so it stays firmly on my desk. It's really solidly-built, with zero flex.
I put an NFC sticker on it so I could enable dock mode with just a tap, at the expense of preserving the minimalist design.
Backed it long before I knew the 6P existed, else I'd have gotten the matching aluminium one, but the white looks equally nice on my desk, as well.

Just picked up 2 in Grey, thanks a lot my man. May not use it a ton at work as I can't seem to kill the battery, but I miss having a nice stand here.
Thanks for this, ordering one as well! I miss a dock for my office desk.
Any concern that it appears the only thing supporting the phone is the USB-C connector? Any accidental movement causing the phone to shift side to side could damage the plug, right?
I received my Sarvi Dock a couple of days ago and love it - so much I'm ordering another for the office. Looks great, works great.

The phone rests against a back support that has a silicone pad, which stabilizes and holds the phone in position. You can set the depth of the USB C male connector so the phone rests on the base.
Barring a significant lateral blow to the phone in stand, I have zero concern about the design and potential damage to the connector. Just my 2¢.
Regarding these docks, do you need to hold the dock down with one hand while pulling the phone up with the other in order to unplug the phone? All my USB C connections seem quite stiff

I bought the Sarvi dock, and it depends on the cable you use. I used my 6ft Google cable and I can remove my phone 1 handed without the dock moving. The Sarvi dock isn't exactly what I expected and despite looking nice the cable set up is more of a makeshift solution IMO. The dock works, but there are some questionable design choices for it that certainly could have been implemented better.
