Is the UCLI3 update known to soft-brick phones w/ CWM? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I just got an update notification for build UCLI3. Is it safe to upgrade to on a phone with Clockworkmod Recovery installed? Some people are saying it boots into recovery, but then says "update failed" once rebooted.
TL;DR: Has anyone seamlessly updated to UCLI3 on a phone with CWM installed?

almost any update to a phone that doesn't have the stock recovery wont update due the fact that the update thats being sent out is processed differently with stock vs cwm and twrp
an no its not good to update with non stock recovery

I did. I didn't know whether or not the "update failed" message kept the phone from booting normally. I don't exactly have an hour or so to check.

So, would returning to just the stock recovery, then doing the OTA and re-installing CWM work, or do I need to do a factory reset as well beforehand?

I got the update notification as well. It downloaded and rebooted to CWM recovery without installing. Rebooted to system with no problems.I did an ODIN revert to stock and checked for updates, it downloaded and installed properly. Then reinstalled CWM via ODIN.Then rooted with flashable SU zip. all seems fine so far.

DO NOT accept the update with a rooted phone, if you must install the update "officially" you need to Odin back to stock unrooted, check the forums if you need help with that it is stickied.
Your other option is to get a CWM flashable version of the rom or just the radio here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560117
If you want to keep your phone rooted and just disable the annoying ota popup notification you can do this: http://www.chargeforums.com/forum/d...s-ota-update-very-easy-but-requires-root.html
Thanks !!

This is the answer what I was looking for. By the way, should I use cwm to ugrade to FP1 radio? Can I use odin? I have EP4 Deodexed / Rooted on my phone, which was loaded by Odin.
Odin flashes .tar Odin packages
cwr flashes .zip files via recovery
You just use the right tool for the job.

This is true but it can be a little confusing since occasionally odin packages (md5.tar) are downloaded in zip files and need to be pulled out, but yes files flashed through CWM are in .zip format.
This is just the FP1 radio update (.zip format) I pulled it from the link above. Download the file, put it on your sd card, go into CWM, wipe cache and dalvik, go to mounts/storage, mount /system, go to install zip from sd card, install it, and thats it. Note that it takes a while to install so don't pull your battery thinking it froze, just let it finish.

Gapps won't install

Title speaks for itself. I reflashed AOKP because the kernel I was on was giving me SOD and I forgot to reinstall Gapps as well. How is it broken? And sk8's recovery can flash 4.2 roms correctly that was one of the first questions he was asked in his 4.2 compile thread.

This has been resolved in the Nibbles thread.
Recovery was not the problem. There's a bug in the installation process within Nibbles for the Base Install. Custom installation works fine. Check my thread for details.

1. Mobile odin, however I've personally never used it. There are probably guides out there somewhere how to return the phone to stock.
2. You may still be under samsung's warranty period, they don't care if your phone is rooted and will fix hardware problems. They will flash the most recent stock rom and firmware they have to your phone so you'd have to re root it.

Any idea how to remove that now that root is gone? Ignore the following words...my phone won't let me edit them out. Thanks again.
Edit: it looks like the file I used was a 4.0.4 image. For return purposes is it fine if it's the older version? There should be no signs of root now. I'll keep checking for updates though

I would, if you have an ics rom they will be able to tell something is off. It should accept an OTA update. If you can odin again, use the vrblk3 image and accept the ota to vrbmb1. It may not be updating due to to the jump from ics to the most recent base. That will make sure you're completely back to stock, with a locked bootloader, and a stock recovery.
