So I'm trying to install CvD Nibbles 1.6 and the installation goes well until about 70% of the way through and then it gives me this message.
Setting up Nibbles
Setting system permissions

Any help would be appreciated

what recovery are u using? u need to have twrp 2.3.3 installed
I'm using sk8's latest recovery version. If I switch to twrp how hard is it to switch back?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app
y would u want to switch back lol? how often are u in recovery anyway to be honest. u only boot into it to flash a ROM. switch to it and see if that alleviates your issue.
I don't like Twrp that's why I would like to switch back. Lol

its broken... so switch. lol I don't see why u would switch back to something that can't correctly flash jellybean ROMs. Someone correct if I'm wrong but I do believe u need twrp to flash aosp based 4.2
How is it broken? And sk8's recovery can flash 4.2 roms correctly that was one of the first questions he was asked in his 4.2 compile thread.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727
This has been resolved in the Nibbles thread.
Recovery was not the problem. There's a bug in the installation process within Nibbles for the Base Install. Custom installation works fine. Check my thread for details.
Mods, please lock. Thanks!

so i just picked up a SR from a guy on CL. he had a build of SkyIcs on 4.0.4 on it. how ever he wiped the device before i got it, there are no system sounds on it. so, i started researching some roms to flash to this like my sgs2 and cappy before it. ive read just about all of them. for some reason i cant get it to work. i found the one i like and downloaded akop_skyrocket_build-38. downloaded that along with darkside and 20120429 gapps as outlined in teh list of what to do for that rom. after flashing the darkside, i cant get anything but the darkside wipe to flash. i downloaded ChimeraVsSkyrocket_Beta2 and DJ-ICS-Plus-V2.0 and they all fail to install...... something about install aborted.
i am using cwm v5.8.4.3

Try using TWRP instead of CWM. You might have better luck. And don't bother with the superwipe, it's really unnecessary.

Use one of the touch recovery versions. If that does not work. Start with a fresh Odin ics one click or stock Odin flash of gingerbread. Then root, install recovery, and flash the rom of your choice.

Make sure you wipe cache (including dalvic) since you're on jb Jeff F's kernel won't work so use the aries kernel instead. Regardless, wiping data/factory reset using cwm won't effect anything. I'm pretty sure that problem was the result of wiping in the phones settings menu (if I remember right).

Honestly, i'm not sure. I never really worried about it. Always use CWM for wiping and never had a problem with anything.
I think it happens when you try to format the internal SD card. Its an emmc bug (I think) but I don't have the bug and my i777 doesn't have it. I thought it was on the specific kernel for the i777 and the international variants.

Just follow the sticky here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398
Once you get it rooted with CWM, i'd suggest updating CWM to this version - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777970
If you're looking for the JellyBean version of AOKP, i'd really suggest this - http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34092-aokp-unofficial-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-i727-nov-04-milestone-1/
As far as flashing it, I:
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache
-mounts & storage [format /system]
-advanced [wipe dalvick cache]
-flash rom
-flash gapps
-reboot
*you can do these x2 or x3 each if you wish just to be sure everything is clear*
Hopefully some of this will help if you already don't know any of it. Any other questions, shoot me a pm if you need or i'm sure someone here can help.

Just trying to be helpful here, here is a faster way to get from stock one-click to JB goodness.....
After you flash to stock with antonx kernel reboot into recovery and flash bhundvens blastoff kernel, reboot recovery, now you should be in blue 5.0.2.8....flash the newest cm9, it will reboot automatically into recovery for you to flash a second time, but don't, instead flash a JB Rom, (I flashed chaos from dao) once it rebooted into recovery...jellybean recovery, I flashed the Rom plus gapps. Rom booted just fine.
So.....save a little time from completely flashing the whole rom, waiting for it to boot and rebooting into recovery just to do it again till you get where you want.....cheers
hopefully it saves you some time
************************just like everyone else says "I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE"*****************
just one-click back and start over hee hee!!!!
If you're saying flashing a kernel with CWM 5.x and then flashing a JB ROM is faster, we all know that already.
You are not flashing the kernel first technically. What you are doing is converting the file system.
However I thought all the JB roms had the mtd conversion script included. If they dont I would ask the person that ported them to update it with that script. There should never be a reason to flash to ics then jb.

Hello Friends, This is BRICKBEATS and I have just COOKED my first custom rom for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III 4.3 from the recently released update. This is stock WITH KNOX APPS REMOVED AND SOME VZW BLOAT REMOVED, and was supposed to have root but it doesn't seem to work at this time. THIS IS A CWM FLASHABLE ZIP AND DOES NOT FLASH THE SECURED BOOTLOADERS, MODEM, OR RPM FILES!!!! I just flashed it to my phone less than an hour ago so any bugs are unknown as of yet. I figured we could all test it out and any input is appreciated. I will get screen shots soon!!! Enjoy
edit: wifi is broken
edit 2: give a decent amount of time for that first boot, it may take a battery pull and hard reset..

Yes if you do flash this rom you can in fact revert to 4.1.2 or any version of android built for this phone for that matter. All this is doing is just installing a rom that has the 4.3 base. If you do decide to go back, just flash a rom thats built on any other version of android for this phone.
this is actually a better rom option with more functionality...
