Please explain in 10 posts or more.

Shouldn't this be in the Development areas or in the official thread?
I will say one thing about AOKP, I clean installed build 5 for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved the customization options compared to CM10. However, it seemed light years behind in terms of stability, speed and overall smoothness of the experience. Then as I was editing my navbar options to add like 7 icons, one of them deleted and I couldn't access the Navbar portion of the ROM options. It would keep force closing whenever I opened that settings area. Reboots and reflashes didn't help. So now I'm back to CM10 and appreciating the stability again.

Did you try an alternate kernel? I'm using the latest leankernel and I've been on the ROM only 24 hours give or take but haven't experienced a single FC on anything, bug with anything(Minus the low audio on video recording and a few minor graphical glitches), or a reboot. I tried the Tablet UI option and went to reboot and it got stuck on the boot animation, but after a battery pull booted fine with the Tablet UI. That was the only boot that I had issues with, the rest seem lightning fast compared to CM10.
Battery life on Release 5 is far superior than CM10 lately. I lost 6% overnight where with CM10 I usually lost 15+%.
I do have a sort of complaint tho. Altering the backlighting settings under Settings>Display>Automatic Backlight>Edit other levels it gives you a minimum of 20 under the screen option where I could have sworn CM10 was a minimum of 1. I'd prefer a lower # that way I could drop down the lighting severely in the dark to save my eyes and battery lol.
Granted I haven't been on it that long but this latest release seems just as buggy if not less than CM10 for me.
(I do want to add that I am a CM10 fan too... It's the ROM that I ALWAYS end up back on after giving other ones a shot. I'm thinking I'll stick with AOKP now tho)

I'm an admitted AOKP fanboy, but it is not as stable as CM10 yet. I've had a lot of random reboots - but typically only when I'm tweaking things. Under normal usage, it has behaved well. Gotta respect the unicorn.

I just realized, how can there be two official builds? There's already an official thread going and has been. Why waiting to start another?

For the auto brightness if you look one up from edit other levels it says Screen dim level which allows you to set minimum of 1.

Great question!
Anyone running it? Has it caught up to our 4.2 ROMs on here like Slim/Liquid/Carbon yet in terms of basic functionality? Build two had too many issues still.

Hey bmc, I noticed in your thread on rootz that in call volume adjustment was still listed as a bug.
I think that was fixed in cm10.1 around the time they switched to caf audio if you're trying to find the patch that fixed it.
I really want to try the auto hide navbar, just waiting for that volume fix.

funny thing is that we are using caf audio as well and still experience it, meaning that something else outside of the audio HAL seems to play a part as well. Still trying to track down what that part is and if any patch was missed for it. Also what I have done to compensate until it is fixed is I have increased the in call volume to be a reasonable level and usable. So although its not adjustable it's at a level that is decent enough for normal use.

[ROM]Fast MIUI w/Sound (Released) and [ROM]AOSP and Unofficial CM7 with Sound(Soon)

Alright, now straight to business - The beloved MoDaCo developer TripNRaVeR has managed to get MIUI to work with sound, and fixed almost all issues. So far the few issues that I get are:
Camera - busted
Texts - some people seem to have issues
Sound - WORKING!!!

He is also working on AOSP / Unofficial CM7 with sound, to have us up and running till the great guys from Cyanogen release the nightlies so we can enjoy some genuine CM7

I don't want to be a downer or anything but this may be over-saturating this section with information already covered elsewhere... It's not really anything in development per this thread unless you plan to update the op with flashing procedures and changelogs... even then it's not a dev thread... it's a tracking thread...

I mean, mr2324jgf is right. The AOSP ROM isn't even available yet and the OP has absolutely nothing to do with the development of it. He knows just as much as the rest of us at this point. Which is that there is a ROM in the works, which we still have to wait for. If we have to wait for a ROM we might as well continue to wait for CM7.
I agree with mr2324jgf that this thread is useless.

AOSP rom is not up yet, but MIUI rom is.
I will add changelogs for each one of them, to keep the XDA community informed on the work done by the great dev.
But if you guys dont like it - I will ask the mods to remove the thread.
If you are gonna keep up with it to post updates, changelogs, links etc. then go for it. I just think the thread is a bit premature at this point but what's done is done.
You guys are too uptight keep this thread up its useful
Umm the MIUI ROM is available now. Been using it all night and today and its stable and usable as a daily without any major problems. Cheers for TripN!

The thing that will make my ass hit the ceiling is if we manage to get the Wifi calling to work. I tried with faux kernel and installed the wifi calling patch from xboarder - but its a no-go. I was thinking that the problem is with the kernel, but I guess I was wrong.
Would be great if someone makes that badboy work with wifi calling, so I can get to use it

[ROM]Kang_Clam(KANG) CM7 to AOSP revert {2.3.7}

First and foremost...Anything you read or flash from here I am not responsible for. If your kitten dies tomorrow or your phone eats your face in your sleep it is not my problem. You should have fed them better. If your phone adjusts itself to paperweight mode, well it was a long time coming for that rock to give up. It is not my fault. You shouldn't have dug the root out from under that rock.
I named this project Kang Clam, simply because to me it is a learning experience so everything is just opening up to me. A clam opens slowly in unfamiliar territory and that is the same as what is going for me. I am still trying to figure it out.
I am by no means a developer. This is just a project I started as a learning experience. The main reason I started this is because there is no way to make an AOSP rom off of the OTA files we where given from LG and NVIDIA. So I decided for a learning curve to work from known working CM7.2 files back to AOSP.
Updates will not be fast nor steady, because like I said I am still learning. I will continue to better the rom but at my own pace. Accept that or do not flash it and do not ***** if there is a problem. BUT if you do find a problem I do not mention please report it so I can trouble shoot it.
So, I decided to make a project similar to faux's but I don't know much. So I decided to reverse engineer cm7 code to revert it to AOSP. Progress will be slow because I am doing this for the simple fact of learning. But, what I have done so far is really stable so I decided to release it.
I will not accept requests simply because what i am doing is for my benefit and to learn. So basically this is my rom for me to update as I will. My sole intentions is to revert cm7 code back to aosp or as close as i can get it. The only reason I am releasing it is because, I myself like AOSP and everything that comes with it. And because I want to learn the just of what it takes to make it work. I do realize that most of what it takes to work comes with patches from Code Aurora Forums and numerous other places. And will remove most CM functions.
But, regardless this is my own personal project to revert things back to AOSP. I will work off of the same base as I have been using, because everything is working. If something gets broken then I will imply the patches necessary to fix it.
I fully intend to remove alot of cm7 functions. Including theme chooser, cm settings and many other cm7 features. Simply because i am learning and want to see if i can make it work without all that. I want to revert cm7 to AOSP so that is what I push towards, if it gets removed and you dont like it then flash an old version or flash cm7!
This does not include ANY google apps so you must flash the latest version of google apps the same as you would do with any CyanogenMod ROM!
But as of right now most of all of the cm7 features are still working.
What I have done so far:
Reverted System UI to AOSP
Reverted MOST apps to AOSP
Added Fugu Tweaks 4.0
Added some build.prop and init.d tweaks
Incorporated Morfic's latest and greatest T15 kernel
And a few other framework and system tweaks and reverts. I am no pro so bare with me. Updates will be slow, if you dont like it then move on to another rom...
Installation Instructions:
1.) Reboot into CWM Recovery
2.) Wipe data/factory reset
3.) Go to advanced>Wipe dalvik cache
4.) Go to mounts and format /system
5.) Install the desired ROM
6.) Reboot to enable WiFi
7.) Reboot to recovery and install gapps.
THERE IS NO GOOGLE APPS INSTALLED IN THIS ROM YOU MUST INSTALL GAPPS LIKE ANY CM7 [email protected]
There is add-ons. That I will be posting as well, for those who may want them. If I revert, I will also try to make an add on package to make things work, if I cant then oh well. Everything comes as is.
Thanks and credits to:
Morfic for his amazing kernel
Romanbb and Whitehawkx for everything I have learned and that they have helped me with in my times of distress
Faux123 for his original work of this project. I use it as a base.
The entire CyanogenMod team for their work
Code Aurora Forums for their work and patches.

I had wondered about that myself. Since i do not get 3g anywheres on any rom for my g2x. Only 4g thats still super slow (same speeds as using edge). Could be my area because their signal sucks around here. It seems like it treats all hspa as 4g icon wise. But not sure. I will look into more in the morning.

I personally think this ROM is much better than Eagleblood (HDMI works fine so far). However, cache partition should increase from 50MB to 100MB to avoid frustration (I got "insufficient storage" error when I tried to install 3 Angry Birds plus Opera Mobile and I have to use Root Explorer to delete these files there). Other than that, it works pretty well.
Awesome ROM. Found one bug. In CyanogenMod Settings, Interface Status bar tweeks doesn't work. Even after you make changes like battery percentage, it doesnt save the changes.

Hey everyone,
Just curious how you'd compare the performance and battery life between the AOSP and CSM (I'm assuming CM9) Eaglesblood version?
I'm using the CSM version build 3 right now and I love it. However, it's a little bit buggy here and there (e.g., a few random restarts), and after a few days of usage is a little laggy. Has anyone compared performance between the two?
Also, my battery life has dropped significantly from the 2.3.7 Eaglesblood version I formerly had on my G2x, and I'm wondering if it's worth flashing the AOSP version instead of the CSM to regain it.
And since the AOSP version is based on stock ICS, is it still as customizable as the CSM version?
Thanks a lot guys...sorry if these are newbish questions, but I'm still relatively a newb...I'm trying to learn though, and I love the work you developers work hard to produce!
You should flash it. You won't be dissapointed.

Do any of you guys have the problem of auto-brightness not working on EB ICS AOSP? Mine seems to just go straight to 100% when I put it on auto. Any help would be appreciated

Partially true... by stock flash its at 100%. Dont use that Auto Brightness slider... that thing is buggy with the proximity/photo sensor hardware on p999 especially with ics since theres all kinds of additional gamma/flicker settings.
=>Instead, use the built-in Notification Drawer Power Widget and set your buttons to include Brightness. At the very bottom of that same list select the Brightness Modes to 25/50/75/100. Now when you tap the brightness widget it will cycle through those stages and adjust the screen + homekeys. 'Dim' is ok for pitch black bedtime stories... but itll leave you thinking your phone is OFF with any kind of sunlight nearby.

Depends on what you do with your phone. The 2.3.7 is off CM9 source. Battery life is fine for me for EB's AOSP. I actually think this runs quicker than the other ICS roms I've tried by far, but many of the features don't work. If you depend on things like camcorder and a good camera, or dislike the random FC, switch to 2.3.7 and probably wait for Build 2. I can get ~30 hours of light use before a charge, and something like half that for medium usage. But my battery's been funky the day I got it.
The only qualm I have is that my battery readings seem to fluctuate up and down randomly and charging %s are generally not correct in comparison to the Weapon G2x nandroid I switch back and forth from.
Opera Mobil, as I depend on sometimes, doesn't work, but it's a solid ROM thus far for DD. But I don't do much with it.

Its a script that when installed in CWM will low level format your phone in prep for a new rom. There is a thread in the Developer section.
two issues
I've been running this ROM since Sunday. Things I've noticed are..
...Phone reboots during calls when battery gets to about 30%
...Problems switching back to 4g after leaving WiFi area
...i've had several apps that crash or take long time to open up. But not a major issue compared to the 1st two issues.

wait what 2.3.7 is CM9?? lol CM7!
everything else I agree, ICS roms are too play with for a couple days until you really need the phone!
Lol, you got me! Don't know how I typoed so badly. Sorry 2.3.7 is indeed CM7. I was thinking ICS when typing as I was flashing EB's ICS-AOSP.

[ROM][PORT] Intergalactic v2.7 [VRBLK3][3/6/2013]

Hello all, this is a port of stratatak7's ROM Intergalactic 2.7. I did not develop the ROM, I merely ported it from AT&T to work on our VZW devices. A special thanks to stratatak7 for letting me port the ROM and for all of the help with getting it to work perfectly, thanks to upndwn4par for the great porting guide over at the AT&T forums and his help with getting data to work, and xxsashixx for giving me a place to host the ROM. My dev skills are extremely limited, but I as well as stratatak7 will do our very best to answer any questions or assist you guys in any way.
Below is the original OP for Intergalactic (which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969201 ) but modified slightly by myself to match our devices. ENJOY!

Information:
This is a stock-based ROM that I've made using VRBLK3 firmware for the VZW Galaxy S3. I've spent a lot of time developing this ROM making it nice and stable and using the tweaks I thought were the best for smoothness, battery life, and stability. This ROM uses a modified, optimized VRBLK3 kernel by me that includes support for init.d scripts and a few extra bells and whistles.

ISSUES:
You tell me!
Installation Instructions:
Download ROM to SD card
Reboot into recovery
Do a factory reset
Wipe cache and dalvik cache
Wipe system
Flash Rom (This process may take a minute or two)
Wipe cache and dalvik cache again just to be safe
Reboot and enjoy
Post Installation Instructions:
It is HIGHLY suggested that you keep ALL Google Now cards off, verify that you are not updating your location with Google Maps (in Maps settings menu). Remember, Google Now automatically turns on your location settings to update through Google Maps, so after enabling Google Now, unless you want your location on all the time, go to Google Maps and turn it off. Your battery will thank you even more.
To allow custom boot animations follow the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35825846#post35825846
If you get a Google account sign-in error after installing, there is an easy fix. Go to Menu > Settings > Accounts and Sync. Please REMOVE your current Google account and then add it again. I do not know why this happens to some people, but it doesn't seem to be ROM related. It happens on several devices including the Nexus. Removing and then re-adding your account again fixes this problem.

whats intergalactic about it, besides the wallpaper?
FYI to fix your mms issues just swap out the SECmms.apk from a functioal rooted rom, its not an issue with ports.

The idea was to start and create the best base possible to modify. Currently we are designing a true Intergalactic theme as the base is now essentially bug free. Once the design is finished and tested it will be released. Not to mention it is strictly a Galaxy phone rom as of right now. It is just a name. Function always comes first in my book. Now that it has been established, full, rather than partial theming will be completed hopefully soon. Voltage says the ROM works well so that's what is priority to me.
And thank you for your suggestion for secmms. I spoke with upndwn4par (Graviton) and asked him if that would work but we weren't sure. I don't own a Verizon phone, I work on the AT&T builds so it is hard for me to test. Voltage526, however, does own a VZW S3 so he does all the porting, testing, and soon some graphics design to make everything look excellent. Everything by me, has to be done blind. This ROM is kind of my baby. I've put countless hours into making it run well. I hope it runs as well on VZW as it does the i747.

Absolutely! Please do keep an eye out. More intense theming takes a bit of time and I'm a busy student, however, I like to update regularly. I actually have a performance update in the works for the i747 version which will carry over. I need to test more and then it will be ready for release. For now, I hope the ROM is enjoyed as much here as it is for the i747. I've done countless hours of "behind the scenes" work.

Did you try the VZW texting app to see if it worked? I was under the impression that that trick only worked for Sprint ports.
And instead of posting a completely new build, you could just post a flashable zip like this one.

LCD Density soft brick

FYI to you guys out there trying to change your LCD Density via ro.sf.lcd_density. So far I get a soft brick when setting it to anything other than 320 and the default (I believe was 480 or 420). So far I've tried:
80
160
180
240
When changed to anything else it will constantly crash the "System UI" but will still be functional as long as you're using a different launcher (apex, nova, etc). In my particular case, I hadn't changed the launcher yet so all I saw was a black screen. To get around that I used S Voice by double clicking on the home button from the lock screen to get to the play store and install apex launcher, then from there was able to get back to ROM Toolbox and switch the density back.
Whatever you do, *don't* change your density to 80 ...its nearly impossible to tap anything with the buttons being incredibly small and the phone freezing up every 5 seconds.
You must have eagle eyed vision to see 80DPI. =)

Haha, agreed! And for some reason, I've been getting PMs from people on here who probably shouldn't be messing around with their phones asking me "how did you root your S4?" and "how did you debloat your S4?" like I'm some expert or something, just because I have a fancy signature!
Search and read BEFORE you screw around with stuff! This isn't a toy you just hack the crap out of without any consequences if it doesn't work! Good thing the LCD density adjustment was just a soft brick, but come on folks, let's use a little bit more sense and don't mess with stuff that could brick your phone when we don't have a way to recover - especially not trying new things other people haven't confirmed working on their phones yet, unlike how root has been a couple dozen times....

who's going to confirm they work on our phones or not if no one tries it first? someone's gotta do it
and coming from a GS3 running at 180dpi it's hard to live with only fitting one icon on your screen at a time because of the stock DPI settings
Just my experience but use Apex and set then icon size to like 70 ( I prefer 80) and add more columns and rows! Doesn't affect the status bar and other things but gives the home screens and app drawer the same lower DPI look you may be going for!
Sent from my Galaxy S 4!
thanks for the suggestion, the main thing I'm concerned about is things like the status bar, fonts, spacing, etc. and was just using icons as an example. I can live with 320 for the time being with setting tiny font size and adding more columns and rows, but still would like to drop it down to 205-220 when possible
Would you mind showing a pic of what 320 looks like?

Fair enough, in the past when I've changed DPI I haven't run into issues, even though I had followed previous warnings to do a nandroid backup before changing it. Of course that's not entirely a valid excuse, as it's always true that every phone is different and there's always a possibility of something as simple as that wrecking havoc.

If you didn't realize, I didn't come crying here asking how to fix this. I didn't say a word until I managed to come across a fix on my own and figured it may potentially be helpful for others to avoid my mistake (for those that use the search function). Had I not come up with a way to get my phone functioning again I would have just waited out a stock firmware showing up here as I realize it would have been entirely my own fault.
