New Eaglesblood ICS AOSP - T-Mobile LG G2x

Just downloaded the ROM and cannot wait to try it out. I have to say that the Eaglesblood store website and gear for sale looks amazing...A job well done, I never saw that coming, and yes I will rep the EB!

How is it running for you, is it smooth?

No. I don't believe in doing a low level format every flash. Particularly when you flash as often as me. After a reboot everything has been running well.

Video recording isn't working due to the lack of drivers. We don't have GPU-accelerated Media playback, so we can't watch certain videos or record them with the camcorder.

How would you compare AOSP with CSM version
Hey everyone,
Just curious how you'd compare the performance and battery life between the AOSP and CSM (I'm assuming CM9) Eaglesblood version?
I'm using the CSM version build 3 right now and I love it. However, it's a little bit buggy here and there (e.g., a few random restarts), and after a few days of usage is a little laggy. Has anyone compared performance between the two?
Also, my battery life has dropped significantly from the 2.3.7 Eaglesblood version I formerly had on my G2x, and I'm wondering if it's worth flashing the AOSP version instead of the CSM to regain it.
And since the AOSP version is based on stock ICS, is it still as customizable as the CSM version?
Thanks a lot guys...sorry if these are newbish questions, but I'm still relatively a newb...I'm trying to learn though, and I love the work you developers work hard to produce!

You should flash it. You won't be dissapointed.

Do any of you guys have the problem of auto-brightness not working on EB ICS AOSP? Mine seems to just go straight to 100% when I put it on auto. Any help would be appreciated

Partially true... by stock flash its at 100%. Dont use that Auto Brightness slider... that thing is buggy with the proximity/photo sensor hardware on p999 especially with ics since theres all kinds of additional gamma/flicker settings.
=>Instead, use the built-in Notification Drawer Power Widget and set your buttons to include Brightness. At the very bottom of that same list select the Brightness Modes to 25/50/75/100. Now when you tap the brightness widget it will cycle through those stages and adjust the screen + homekeys. 'Dim' is ok for pitch black bedtime stories... but itll leave you thinking your phone is OFF with any kind of sunlight nearby.

Depends on what you do with your phone. The 2.3.7 is off CM9 source. Battery life is fine for me for EB's AOSP. I actually think this runs quicker than the other ICS roms I've tried by far, but many of the features don't work. If you depend on things like camcorder and a good camera, or dislike the random FC, switch to 2.3.7 and probably wait for Build 2. I can get ~30 hours of light use before a charge, and something like half that for medium usage. But my battery's been funky the day I got it.
The only qualm I have is that my battery readings seem to fluctuate up and down randomly and charging %s are generally not correct in comparison to the Weapon G2x nandroid I switch back and forth from.
Opera Mobil, as I depend on sometimes, doesn't work, but it's a solid ROM thus far for DD. But I don't do much with it.

Its a script that when installed in CWM will low level format your phone in prep for a new rom. There is a thread in the Developer section.

two issues
I've been running this ROM since Sunday. Things I've noticed are..
...Phone reboots during calls when battery gets to about 30%
...Problems switching back to 4g after leaving WiFi area
...i've had several apps that crash or take long time to open up. But not a major issue compared to the 1st two issues.

[ROM]Kang_Clam(KANG) CM7 to AOSP revert {2.3.7}

First and foremost...Anything you read or flash from here I am not responsible for. If your kitten dies tomorrow or your phone eats your face in your sleep it is not my problem. You should have fed them better. If your phone adjusts itself to paperweight mode, well it was a long time coming for that rock to give up. It is not my fault. You shouldn't have dug the root out from under that rock.
I named this project Kang Clam, simply because to me it is a learning experience so everything is just opening up to me. A clam opens slowly in unfamiliar territory and that is the same as what is going for me. I am still trying to figure it out.
I am by no means a developer. This is just a project I started as a learning experience. The main reason I started this is because there is no way to make an AOSP rom off of the OTA files we where given from LG and NVIDIA. So I decided for a learning curve to work from known working CM7.2 files back to AOSP.
Updates will not be fast nor steady, because like I said I am still learning. I will continue to better the rom but at my own pace. Accept that or do not flash it and do not ***** if there is a problem. BUT if you do find a problem I do not mention please report it so I can trouble shoot it.
So, I decided to make a project similar to faux's but I don't know much. So I decided to reverse engineer cm7 code to revert it to AOSP. Progress will be slow because I am doing this for the simple fact of learning. But, what I have done so far is really stable so I decided to release it.
I will not accept requests simply because what i am doing is for my benefit and to learn. So basically this is my rom for me to update as I will. My sole intentions is to revert cm7 code back to aosp or as close as i can get it. The only reason I am releasing it is because, I myself like AOSP and everything that comes with it. And because I want to learn the just of what it takes to make it work. I do realize that most of what it takes to work comes with patches from Code Aurora Forums and numerous other places. And will remove most CM functions.
But, regardless this is my own personal project to revert things back to AOSP. I will work off of the same base as I have been using, because everything is working. If something gets broken then I will imply the patches necessary to fix it.
I fully intend to remove alot of cm7 functions. Including theme chooser, cm settings and many other cm7 features. Simply because i am learning and want to see if i can make it work without all that. I want to revert cm7 to AOSP so that is what I push towards, if it gets removed and you dont like it then flash an old version or flash cm7!
This does not include ANY google apps so you must flash the latest version of google apps the same as you would do with any CyanogenMod ROM!
But as of right now most of all of the cm7 features are still working.
What I have done so far:
Reverted System UI to AOSP
Reverted MOST apps to AOSP
Added Fugu Tweaks 4.0
Added some build.prop and init.d tweaks
Incorporated Morfic's latest and greatest T15 kernel
And a few other framework and system tweaks and reverts. I am no pro so bare with me. Updates will be slow, if you dont like it then move on to another rom...
Installation Instructions:
1.) Reboot into CWM Recovery
2.) Wipe data/factory reset
3.) Go to advanced>Wipe dalvik cache
4.) Go to mounts and format /system
5.) Install the desired ROM
6.) Reboot to enable WiFi
7.) Reboot to recovery and install gapps.
THERE IS NO GOOGLE APPS INSTALLED IN THIS ROM YOU MUST INSTALL GAPPS LIKE ANY CM7 [email protected]
There is add-ons. That I will be posting as well, for those who may want them. If I revert, I will also try to make an add on package to make things work, if I cant then oh well. Everything comes as is.
Thanks and credits to:
Morfic for his amazing kernel
Romanbb and Whitehawkx for everything I have learned and that they have helped me with in my times of distress
Faux123 for his original work of this project. I use it as a base.
The entire CyanogenMod team for their work
Code Aurora Forums for their work and patches.

I had wondered about that myself. Since i do not get 3g anywheres on any rom for my g2x. Only 4g thats still super slow (same speeds as using edge). Could be my area because their signal sucks around here. It seems like it treats all hspa as 4g icon wise. But not sure. I will look into more in the morning.

I personally think this ROM is much better than Eagleblood (HDMI works fine so far). However, cache partition should increase from 50MB to 100MB to avoid frustration (I got "insufficient storage" error when I tried to install 3 Angry Birds plus Opera Mobile and I have to use Root Explorer to delete these files there). Other than that, it works pretty well.
Awesome ROM. Found one bug. In CyanogenMod Settings, Interface Status bar tweeks doesn't work. Even after you make changes like battery percentage, it doesnt save the changes.

[Discussion]GB, How many?

How many of you guys are still using a GB ROM?
Ive played around with a few ICS ROMs but my phone and I are not ready to make the switch.
I'm running Oxygen 2.3.1 latest Franco build for GB, stock CPU settings.
Single screen launcher. I just love it and how fluid it is and how everything corectly works.
Maybe once OTA and source is out Ill consider the switch.

Still using the latest MIUI. The biggest issue stopping me from moving to ICS is the volume rocker affecting the ringer volume instead of media volume. From what I've seen it's a core ICS issue so it might not be fixed until the official ICS release.

I tried to go back to stock after playing with a few ICS roms but I came back to aosp's oICS rom because the experience is so much better in ICS in my opinion. The keyboard alone is worth the switch to me.
GB was a great update, though, and if you're happy with your setup I can totally understand why you would stick with it.

Agreed. The ICS experience is just so much better regardless of the lag here and there.
Noteable things over Gingerbread:
- Better Keyboard (In terms of autocorrect)
- New Speech to Text input!
- Better Email/Gmail apps
- Better Messaging App
- Better Calendar Widget
- Consistent UI through the Google Apps
- Sweet launcher (no need to look for a custom launcher ...)
- Browser uses a tiling rendering method rather than rending the whole page at once. Browsing is faster on ICS than GB ...
- And the list continues ...
GB is fast but I have to do a lot of tweaking, new keyboards, new launchers, apps etc. But on ICS, I am almost happy with everything as is.
The only thing I miss are the power widgets from CM7 ... I know the Kangs have a few of them, but not the ones I want.

Me. Will use ICS when all the functions work properly and aren't using dodgy patches. And the battery life and performance will be similar. Until then, my customized GB setup is just perfect.
I'm still running the stock Gingerbread 2.3.6 ROM on my I9020T. I have no interest in all these hack crackerjack Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs. I'm perfectly happy to wait for Google to release the official ROM.

My Opinion
- I don't like stock keyboards over swype.
- I never use speech to text as I type faster.
- I do agree on gmail I love the new gmail application.
- GoSMS ftfw
- Never use calendar's; don't care about time.
- I do like consistent UI but I hate the appearence of this one. I've had to metamorph the hell out of it.
- I still use custom launchers as they have more features. One thing I really hate about ice cream is the 'Multitasking'. I hated it in honeycomb and I hate it here.
- I prefer Miren.
Ice cream is a great update. When the lag is gone and there is more tweaking and modifying that can be done, CM9 w/ theme chooser, I'll definitely return to it.
Forget about it... switched back to GB for the week I was in Hawaii to get 4g that was it. v26 of aosp's ICS is great on my battery life and the small lag I can live with used to it on some GB roms too. Some nuisances with ICS but not enough to go back to GB... it's still alpha so I can't complain. alpha builds of any rom are buggy, but I use ICS as a daily driver... patiently waiting til OTA to fix all the current errors.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
still using gb after trying those alpha ics roms
ics is awesome, but a stock one is what i need
I have used all the ICS roms out there, they are all really great, hats off to the devs. But i am waiting for the ota for tjat polished feel of ICS.
I know the current ics roms are smooth, but not as much as i like. Coz maybe they dont have the kernel of ics rite now, so guess i ll wait for the ota
Currently on galnet miui, super smooth...

If GPS doesn't work:
first, make a nandroid backup. then, 1. boot into a sense rom or a sense nandroid (anything with working EPST).
2. run GPS to make sure it works
3. open the dialer, and type "##gpsclrx#" (without the quotes of course)
4. hit OK or Yes to clear GPS data (can't remember exactly what it says)
5. it will say that it will reboot in 10 seconds, but it won't. wait ten seconds, then manually rebood. restore your nandroid. your GPS should work.

Incompatible drivers for the most part. Some have to be rewritten to work with ICS.

The hal wrapper is supposed to use a camera.speedy.so in /lib/hw to link to the gingerbread libcamera.so and liboemcamera.so. I made the edits to the init.rc to allow it to work and tried renaming the camera.vision.so to camera.speedy.so with no luck.

From what I understand the in kernel work is basic and points to the oem camera libs. the hal hack from the nexus used some opensource code to let it use the gingerbread libs.

I don't believe its actually roaming. When I switched to home only it still showed the R but the settings showed it was not roaming. I switch back to cyanogenmod 7.1 during the day. I don't expect people to use it for their daily rom. I do this stuff for fun and put it up for others because its a little different than evervolv plus I was hoping to get the camera parts working on the shift since the g2 has it going and the g2 based off a similar chipset msm_7k

[Q] Samsung Infuse 4G official Gingerbread problems...

rookie here...hi everybody...
Anyone else missing live wallpapers after the update? I'm missing the water and beach, Was this normal? I knew about Angry Birds....but not this..
second my keyboard seems to be the same, what changes happened here ??
thanks for your help....
ruxxo
better text editing and word selection. smoothness enhancements, battery life improvement, and some speed optimizations. other than that a launcher that loops the home and app drawer screens and new overscroll effects (apple lawsuit)
Is anyone else experiencing laggier gaming? When I play 3D games like Asphalt or Modern Combat, the lag is awful after the update. I'm not totally surprised though, because I also experienced the lag phenomenon way back when I was on the Infused custom ROM. I wonder if it's something to do with Gingerbread. These makes ran smooth as butter on the stock Froyo ROM.
Loving everything else about the official update though.

I think you may need a reboot. if that doesn't work, you may need to back up your data and perform a factory reset.
other users have report this to clear up their lag.

Get advanced task manager from the market and force stop all of your apps before trying to play a game. It works for me. I use that and I do not have any lag what so ever.
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
I already had factory reset twice. The game lagging issue still persisted though. I got the advanced task killer and killed all my apps before running a game and it was a lot better (thanks!). I just find it interesting though that they ran smoother on Froyo. I wonder if Gingerbread manages the game running differently. It's almost like the games have less frames per second on Gingerbread (and I had the same thing on the Infused ROM as well).
On a side note, a third of my music library is now unknown... They were all perfectly labeled before. Apparently the same thing happened to a lot of Atrix users when they did their official Gingerbread update. Some of them said the problem went away on its own after a free days, so I guess I'll see how it goes.
Still loving everything else about the update though

hmmm..interesting..is your music on the phone itself or the microSD card?
there may have been some recognition issue.
you can try to take out the card if you have it on the microsd card.
boot back up.
use tibu or app manager and clear out the music data and cache
power off, and reinsert the card.
power on to see if it comes back.
if you dont have a microsd in, you can try to flush the data and cache from music app and force a new search...
i'm kinda unilateral one track minded..i have taken off useless apps data hogs and widgets off my phone. I usually dont have much running in the background esp live wp, so i dont' have lag issues.
mtease1 maybe used to more cluttered stuff, so he was better to help you with this
having said that, better programs or games, if they know that they will use more cpu capacity, should have disable those first. it is possible duel cores or tablets with more computing power will not have these issues...your battery would just drain faster.

Thanks! I'll see if that works (all of music is on the external 32 GB, but there was never an issue on Froyo and I also factory reset twice on Gingerbread, so I would imagine the phone had already had two chances to recognize it afresh :/).
Regardless, I'm still a happy child lol no more obsession over an official update
I've noticed that all of a sudden after my GB update, when i press the side lock/unlock button, it will flash whatever was left on the screen before i locked it. It only flashes for about a half of a second, but enough to see what i was doing. For instance, if i had personal information on the screen when i locked it, i can see it for a half of a second when i press the unlock button. And after that initial flash, it then prompts me for my pin/passcode and hides the screen.
Anyone else seeing this?

Please let us know if that worked.
the factory reset in cwm is not the same as the factory reset in /settings/privacy/reset...the latter one completely erases everything...everything...at least in froyo anyway.

Please explain in 10 posts or more.
Shouldn't this be in the Development areas or in the official thread?
I will say one thing about AOKP, I clean installed build 5 for the first time yesterday and absolutely loved the customization options compared to CM10. However, it seemed light years behind in terms of stability, speed and overall smoothness of the experience. Then as I was editing my navbar options to add like 7 icons, one of them deleted and I couldn't access the Navbar portion of the ROM options. It would keep force closing whenever I opened that settings area. Reboots and reflashes didn't help. So now I'm back to CM10 and appreciating the stability again.

Did you try an alternate kernel? I'm using the latest leankernel and I've been on the ROM only 24 hours give or take but haven't experienced a single FC on anything, bug with anything(Minus the low audio on video recording and a few minor graphical glitches), or a reboot. I tried the Tablet UI option and went to reboot and it got stuck on the boot animation, but after a battery pull booted fine with the Tablet UI. That was the only boot that I had issues with, the rest seem lightning fast compared to CM10.
Battery life on Release 5 is far superior than CM10 lately. I lost 6% overnight where with CM10 I usually lost 15+%.
I do have a sort of complaint tho. Altering the backlighting settings under Settings>Display>Automatic Backlight>Edit other levels it gives you a minimum of 20 under the screen option where I could have sworn CM10 was a minimum of 1. I'd prefer a lower # that way I could drop down the lighting severely in the dark to save my eyes and battery lol.
Granted I haven't been on it that long but this latest release seems just as buggy if not less than CM10 for me.
(I do want to add that I am a CM10 fan too... It's the ROM that I ALWAYS end up back on after giving other ones a shot. I'm thinking I'll stick with AOKP now tho)
I'm an admitted AOKP fanboy, but it is not as stable as CM10 yet. I've had a lot of random reboots - but typically only when I'm tweaking things. Under normal usage, it has behaved well. Gotta respect the unicorn.

I just realized, how can there be two official builds? There's already an official thread going and has been. Why waiting to start another?

Hey bmc, I noticed in your thread on rootz that in call volume adjustment was still listed as a bug.
I think that was fixed in cm10.1 around the time they switched to caf audio if you're trying to find the patch that fixed it.
I really want to try the auto hide navbar, just waiting for that volume fix.

funny thing is that we are using caf audio as well and still experience it, meaning that something else outside of the audio HAL seems to play a part as well. Still trying to track down what that part is and if any patch was missed for it. Also what I have done to compensate until it is fixed is I have increased the in call volume to be a reasonable level and usable. So although its not adjustable it's at a level that is decent enough for normal use.
