I've been trying to find someone interested in helping to update my Zenithink tablet (as mentioned in the title), to Androiod 4.1. I currently have 4.0 ICS, but it seems "glitchy" with program crashes not being uncommon. I've viewed similarly equipped devices running Jelly Bean that seem to run smoothly. I also know that there are custom ROM's that could be used, or modified to increase RAM from 512Mb to 1Gb or more and this wouldn't hurt performance any considering the 1ghz cpu, (that I understand actually normally runs at 800mhz).
My quest for this assistance started a few weeks ago and uincluded reading several threads on xda, but there seemed to be no posts I could find relating to this particular brand of tablet, (or many other brands of tablet). So, I went with what appeared to be the likely location to post on slatedroid. Unfortunately, as can be seen in my posts there in the thread linked to below, there simply wasn't any interest, even though, the tablet I use is very similar to the ZT-282 that has so much content relating to it on that site. The thread can be found on slatedroid with the topic being:
"porting jb to ics based zt-280 z102 and others"
I've hunted around xda trying to find the most likely place to post this topic and this is what I've come up with. If I'm in error by posting here, please feel free to suggest an alternative place.
Thanks!
k.
Now that I've made 10 posts and can post a link, I'll post the one I mentioned above.

I was just looking on the web and found someone selling my version of Zenithink tablet with Android 4.1 preinstalled.

Great price too! If you need a thousand of them.

Since the hardware should be the same except for the display, I think it would be great to have the A510 also covered in this forum. Currently there are some threads in the A500 forum since we had no place to go but I think it would be a good Idea to move those threads over.
Does anyone disagree?

+1 to that,if its makes developing for both tablets easier and faster.
The problem is that both tablet do net run the same Android version. A510 uses Android 4.0.3 and A700 is using 4.0.4 so you'll get differences between the two.
There's basically little difference between 4.0.4 and 4.0.3. Moreover when the community becomes ripe enough, there'll be intelligent developers making some awesome roms for both. Not to forget there,s also CM9
Face it A510ers, the A510 is kind of like the little kid in The Omen
I am kidding of course, since if the only difference in hardware with the 700 is the display, the 700 could be the Omen child. Could be one hot device of the temperature kind.
Ready to be covered here, it does seem a better fit. tired of wading through the 500 posts because they really don't relate at all.

Hello,
I am looking at sub-$100 android tablets, and am wondering if any of them are any good. I know not to expect $300-$500, but some of these things have to be alright. Which ones can you install clockwork mod and which ones have custom rom support? How would you even find that, considering how inaccurate most of the descriptions can be?
I am looking at a specific tablet, but XDA rules prevent me from posting links because I havent posted enough.
Thanks!
(yes, i have done some searching, if there are any threads i have overlooked, can someone please link to them, instead of just telling me to search?)
I heard over on Android Authority that Samsung has release its JellyBean source code for the i1900. I know our phones have a different processor, so it's not going to work on our phones, but given that they share at least a name, should I be hopeful that there could be some goodness in there to help move our Skyrocket's along with JellyBean (e.g. CyanogenMod 10.1), or even hopes of an official JellyBean release from Samsung?

There is already a Samsung JB leak in Development forum, you should have taken a look there.

Do you read any of our threads before posting useless new threads?

Should have done a search? I did, thanks. Searched for "jelly bean source". No hits. So I posted.
And a leaked *compiled* ROM does not equal source. Now it does answer my question about the Skyrocket getting Jelly Bean, and further implies there will eventually be a source delivery. That does not mean that the regular S2 Jelly Bean source available now can't offer a more immediate impact.
Also note that the UCLK4 thread in the development forum is slightly over one day old as of now. At the time I posted this thread, it was about 12 hours old. And the one in the General section was started after.
In fact, I saw the S2 news at AA much earlier yesterday but decided to wait to ask so others with more knowledge and experience could preemptively answer my question. But, via my search, I didn't find my answer.
So, yes, I agree my thread is now irrelevant. But at the time, it was hardly as clear as the smug replies in this thread suggest.
Sorry for my rudeness in response to yours. I know you guys have to put up with a lot of newbs. But the robotic and condescending dismissals are just as annoying to see over and over again, especially after I *did* do my due diligence.

I didn't mean anything harsh in my reply, but answered half of your question, a half that seemed to me the most important one (our phone having official Samsung JB).
To answer one more thing: the sources are good for some things, namely if your goal is to patch the new kernel to the old driver binaries (the kind of work that's necessary for old and non-supported phones to run the latest OS found on their latest siblings with the same chipset) - but if your goal is to run the full OS with official latest drivers that it's built to run with, without precompiled binaries the source is good for nothing. And the patching work is futile if the official release is a month-two away.
Hey everybody,
I'm totally new to this forum, and first would like to apologize if I have posted this in the wrong place. I searched for a A31 forum but couldn't find one I thought would suit this post.
Anyway,
I've recently received a Prontotec Tablet with KitKat 4.4.2.
I successfully rooted the device following instructions I found regarding the A31 processor in a forum I ran across. Woot!
My problem now is I'm not finding anything regarding a Recovery or any Roms that would be suitable for this device.
Any help you are willing to provide would be greatly appreciated.
I had posted links, but since I'm new I'm not able to post them it seems -__-'
Lemme know if there's any clarifications you need, search Prontotec on Amazon or Google and you'll see what I'm talking about
It's one of those many, low budget Chinese tablets, but its rather good considering. I'm not expecting miracles, but a point in the right direction (what other tablets are similar/or have compatible roms) would be a great start.
Thanks everyone!
So I work for a very small cellular company (less than 40k subs) and my boss is ordering second hand devices with Android 2.3.6 OS Version. I've been hunting around online for the past few days to give him documentation on how out dated and what potential issues this can cause for customers. All I have found is from the Android Dashboards: (i can't post the link since i'm new to the forums)
So we have had multiple customer's in the last few days with this error: "Error retrieving information from server. [RPC: S-7:AEC-7 DUAS-N731-ACEW4] whenver they try to update an application. I've been trying to find a way to articulate to my management that the reason is the outdated OS of the devices we use, but I can't find any documentation to prove this fact.
I don't know if this is even the right place to ask the question, but everyone I've spoken to (reps and google, samsung, LG etc.) have pointed me to this forum. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Hi,
Thanks for using XDA Assist
Kindly register a account on XDA Forum so that you can ask/post questions in respective forums Well yes Android GingerBread Version is too old version now and many devices which were using it has now lost the development , the reason is that the many such devices were on 512mb of Ram and later on every stage of Android Upgrade System requirements too increased which later these devices lost the development , though there are still few devices which are running lollipop on 512mb Ram but is not easy task to achieve the same
Kindly post your question here Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Good luck!
