Hi,
I have this strange problem on my device...here's the description of the bug -
- When i have a phone call active, the start button goes dead...I cant click on the start button Even if i press the Win key, the start menu doesnt roll out.
- however, the close button and the volume icons are active
- when i try to tap and hold on the clock (to change between analog and digital), i get the circle of dots, but at the end i dont get the menu options for switching between the two modes.
- when i end the call, the start button is still disabled. If i have to re-enable it, I need to press the POWER button to turn off my device and turn it back ON, then it gets active again. However, this works only after i end the active call.
This started to happen ever since i installed one of the roms/radio roms (which i dont remember) and now, it happens on any ROM that i flash it with
I have no clue as to whats broken and this seriously gets on my nerves
Any suggestions or ideas?
thanks!
San
Damn, i take it that noone has had this problem.....anyone any suggestions which may help fix it?!
Cheers,
San

It may help...

On a side note, your v6 rom is just amazing! I love it for its great stability on my device, and not to mention the perfect balance in terms of applications it comes with etc.!

Hi Dreamtheater,
Enter BootLoader, connect to pc with USB, load, MTTY and type "Task 28 55aa" this will restore DOC to original state.
You will loose all info on your device so back-up first.

Before you try the DOC format, try re-flashing the radio only rom. If you are using v 1.18 or 1.17, try 1.15 which is more stable.

I was running on R1.15...now i'm trying 1.17!
You suspect the problem to be with the radio? I guessed as much too...but it seemed like it happened two different radios and all the OS roms. Maybe something was screwed at DOC level, hopefully the doc format should work....
thanks!
San
Still no luck
I formatted the DOC and reinstalled everything, and it still fails...
All i need to do is, dial a number, shut the lid, re-open it and then try to click on the start button, doesnt respond
Everything below is functional.....
Sad :-(((
Why me??!
still no luck

Any other suggestions? This is such a wierd problem. Is there something like a format of radio section on the device?
Thanks,

This is a very typical problem, I've no solid answer.
But lets try...
1. Run the CID unlock tool
2. Unplug the battery and plugin back after a few minutes
3. Start the device in BL
4. Flash the Radio 1.09, an original OS rom (i.e. from O2) and an empty extrom
5. Hard reset, screen align etc. (do not install anything)
6. Check the device status ....
Are you having the same problem?

thanks ranju,
let me give this a spin now....i'll post back after i try it. one thing though, when i tried a wm5 based rom, this issue didnt turn up.
one thing though....i actually cooked my own rom using a wm5 rom base and replaced the phone and outlook apps from wm6 and tried to run it. the phone module never powered on, and nothing worked....and went back to a wm6 rom after which. i'm not too sure if this has triggered these problems or a bad wm6 rom which i've flashed (i remember mo3ulla's rom which never worked for me and fubared my device completely....this could also be the cause....)
either ways, still hunting for a possible fix, and thanks so much for helping out! will post back bro....

Hi San,
If you have a history file in the root of your device can you post it for us please?
If not do you have access to Visual Studio and Platform Builder so that you can get a KITL output of this in action, then post the KITL for us?
Also, are you running any taskamanagers or additional apps?
Does the issue occur straight after a clean flash of a Vanilla Rom?
Cheers,
Beasty
@beasty
Here's history.txt attached....
I have visual studio, but i dont have platform builder....so i'm afraid thats not possible. If you could point me as to where i can get it, I could give it a shot.
Right now i'm going to radio 1.09, and checking if its a radio incompatibility issue...doubt it though.....

Oh dudes! I guess i figured out what's causing the problem, though i have no idea how to fix this!!!!!!
All this has started when my exchange service provider has migrated to exchange 2007 which makes it mandatory for me to have a password for my device. I have a 24 hr time out for the password, pretty much making the need for a password useless....
When i make a call and leave the lid open and continue to talk - no problems! the start button works as it should....
but the moment i close the lid and pull it open again, it seems like the display blanks and redraws (only happens if you have a password for your device), and thats when the start button gets disabled! Now, the only way out is to end the call, power off and then power on again......
This is confirmed, but how do i fix the problem? I should have a password, cant disable it.....and i always close the lid when i make a call! MS bug????
Thanks again ranju, beasty.....really appreciate it!

Who's there?
There are some known issues with password screen causing issues on some roms mate.
All I can suggest is dig through the forums to see if you can find a fix posted............I think J had a similar issue with one of his Roms and it was discussed in detail............
or flash to a different Rom and see if it is reproduceable.

I am discovering a problem with my o2 Orbit2 (HTC Touch Cruise / Polaris) which I couldn't find here in the forum:
Aprox. every 5 days my Orbit 2 hangs up, when its in standby mode. It doesn't matter if it goes to standby by itself or if I push the power button to do so. When i want to turn it back on again it doesn't respond and the screen stays black, but I still can see the LED on top flashing. If I call my own number from another phone, I can here that there's a line put the orbit doesn't do anything. So I'm missing all calls and am not getting a missed call information after the softreset I will have to do to get it back to life.
This problem is not depending on the battery status and I usually don't have any progs running in backround.
After the softrest everything is fine for the next days, but I still don't know since when it hang and what I've missed during that time.
Does anybody know this problem or may even have a solution?
Many thanks

Ohh my GOD !
I was hoping these kinds of problem to be fixed by MS on 6.0 version . . .
Because i have had your identical problem on a Win Mobile 5.0 MIO A501 that has been sold and i am happy with my new HTC POLARIS wich hasn't at the moment this kind of problem . . . at the moment

If I were you I'd uninstall one-by-one each piece of third party software you've put on there until it stops doing it, then you'll know the culprit.

Hi, you may join this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366558
I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
Hi guys,
I'm an android apps developer and I'm facing two problems with [ROM][Android 4.4.2][Camera works] CM11 with ION for HTC Sensation:
1.- GPS NMEA strings are not broadcasted (I cannot get them via NMEAListener). This problem started from CM10.1 back in July. I've already posted in many forums but there was no answer,
2.- WiFi p2p (WiFi direct) is not supported. WiFi p2p is a new usuful feature since android 4.0 and many apps are using it. In this ROM it doesn;t exist at all.
Unfortunately I didn't find any other way to report these bugs than starting this post.
Does anyone knows anything about these issues?
Thanks
I am also facing some problems after flashing this rom on my htc sensation 4g.
my sensation rebooting after 3-4 minutes and the battery life is tooooooooo poooooor.
any solution?

I had no trouble locating it when I had CyanogenMod 9.10 installed, but this one seems to miss it (or I am missing something!)

Hi all,
has someone got these bugs?
- display doesn't seem to go off properly while in call, because it seems that touchscreen continue to detect touches while display is turned off, so you'll find your phone completely messed up at the end.
- in call volume with earphones (without microphones, only earpieces) is always at max, with no chance to reduce it during the call using volume button (even if in the screen you see you are decreasing volume).
- led notification doesn't blink the right color...doesn't blink at all sometimes.
Thanks.
Hi All
I'm using Viper 5.0 ROM with SebastianFM Kernel 1.0.3 and i have an annoying bug with multitouch.
I can't post url, but is very difficult to me explain it in word, so i post the query string to append in youtube url.
watch?v=Dw4jUVsjWdo
I've a sensation z710e (no 4g).
If i restart the device, all works fine, but if i put it in sleep mode (by pressing power button), when i wake it up, the issue returns.
is a kernel-elated issue? there is a way to solve this? Someone has the same problem?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Use your phone all the way until it shuts down; remove battery, SD Card and SIM and let the phone stay so for 6-7 hours, over a night, for example. Then insert them back, plug your charger, and have it fully recharged. But BE CAREFUL YOU WILL NOT TOUCH THE SCREEN AT ALL UNTIL IT IS CHARGED UP.
SENT FROM WHATEVER IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE LOCKED AT, THE THING IS THAT IT IS SENT.

Thanks for your reply.
I tried the touch recalibration tool and the "silver pin method", but neither of them worked.
Tonight i'll try your solution and see if it works.
Hi,
try to download an app from google play sensor tester, you can check multi-touch with it

Hi,
I tried your solution, but unfortunately I have not solved the problem.
I think that is a kernel-related problem. Something like sleep mode frequencies or other values. I'm pretty ignorant about kernel settings.
Does anyone else have this problem?
The video that i posted, talks about a problem with the ICS SebastianFM kernel, which has been solved with the 1.30.2 version.
How can I know how it was fixed? Is it possible?
Thanks
I have same problem with the new ViperS 5.1.0.
After the first time that the phone enters in "sleep mode", the touch begins to have that problem.
How can i solve?
anyone else having the same problem?
Thanks
I have the same problem with ViperS 5.1.0 and cant even play games where I need 2 fingers (like racing: throttle and steering).
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Everything works perfectly fine now. Thanks guys!
Since a couple of weeks, my OPO switch itself to vibrate-mode, and I have no clue where it's coming from.
Tasker, Locale and such apps have been deleted.
Profiles are deactivated.
But still... Even when I manually switch on sound notification and ringtone, it goes back to vibrate mode after a while.
I've reviewed every settings that could be involved with that, but I still don't find a solution.
Is this a known bug ?
Is there a setting I missed ?
I couldn't say, but any help is welcome (I'm currently looking for a job, I need to hear my phone and not missing any call...)
Thx by advance !

You sure you haven't set up CM profiles in settings? Does this happen at specific TIMES (eg. 2PM every afternoon) or at specific INTERVALS (eg. 2 hours after you manually enabled ringer)?

As I said in the original post, Profiles are deactivated + Tasker and such apps are deleted.
I still don't get if it happens at specific time (ie: every day at 2 pm), or after a specific delay (ie : 2 hours after I switch the ringtone back).
It seems to be the second option, but I lack a good monitor app that could brings me some intel about what's happening on my phone and what triggers events

Thx.. I'm going to digg about logcat then (I see what it is but I never use that).
Is there any way to look into a logcat (or other log-stuff) by searching events (or text) instead of time-stamp ?
Is there any app or software that helps digging this full load of data ?
I hate myself right now... I'm using MyPhoneExplorer and there is a setting to switch your phone ringtone while connected to a known-wifi.
And yes, I have activated this settings myself
In a word, when you don't find a solution on XDA or any forum, the bug is probably you...
