UK Physical stores? - Microsoft Surface

Does anyone have a heads up (other than the PC World in London) who will be selling the surface? I know in the USA and Canada its being sold only by Microsoft from there stores and you have an online list but the UK does not have MS stores. As there is the midnight opening in London do we think its a safe bet that PC world will carry it in there other stores? I'm thinking of taking the day off of work but don't want it to be a waste.

What to buy when overseas.

I will be travelling to China about July this year. I am in Australia & have an i-mate, & would like to purchase a gps package etc. Can anyone suggest if it is worthwhile & cheaper to purchase accessories o/s, & if so, what would be recommended .
mate,
as you're going to china; if you have a chance to pass by hong kong then i would surely recommend that you buy your stuff there. just make sure not to buy from your run-off the stores along the roads; in hk i would recommend the star city it center (kowloon side, ocean terminal near the ferry). i've been buying most of my electronics stuff from that area and i've been very happy for the past 4 years.
oh, prices should be a little more expensive (as compared to china)...then again i did run into a very nasty experience of buying an sd card from china. bloody thing wouldn't work when i used it in my ppc. tried to get my money back but that was as easy opening a beer with your toenails. since then i've been buying my stuff in hk since the place is very updated when it comes to electronics. bought my gps there last year; still working and no problems.
cheers then
rob

Brick and Mortar shop for Sim-free Tytn in London

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a reputable but reasonably priced brick and mortar shop in London (or heathrow duty-free) that is selling the sim-free Tytn (or any variant). I'm going to be passing through the UK for one day only and would like to pick one up but cannot rely on mail-order (VAT rebate) or Ebay (Paypal address) and am unsure of the reputations of various retailers. I have found a very good price from both http://www.rankhour.com with collection at their London office or possibly http://www.inkino.co.uk/ again with collection at one of their stores. Any experiance with either of these? or possibly another suggestion? Obviously time is critical and any advice would be much appreciated.

I wish to buy the Touch Pro

Hi
I am interested in buying the TouchPro and was considering buying it from either DeviceWire or Handtec. Has anyone, outside the UK preferably, bought something from either of these sites? If yes, what delivery companies do they use?
Thanks
george
It depends from where outside of UK you're ordering. Usually within EU they use one delivery company, and further outside another.

Where to buy Sony Ericsson Live View?

Just wondering where on the world wide web I can purchase the Live View and have it shipped to Canada. I found it on ebay sold by a UK dealer but I want to see if there are any other options out there. Also knowing how much the thing retails for would be nice.

Play.com sells it, but its pre-order
in case you're still looking, its at www.mobimega.com
I've bought stuff from them before, its legit

Buying a Note in the US

Hi all
I'm from Ireland and I'm going to be in the US in september and I'm hoping to buy a note 10.1 as it's much cheaper there than it is in Ireland (in the order of $150 cheaper).
What is the best brick and mortar store?
Best buy seems to be the only place I can find that (on the net atleast) would have in stock, also is there anything I'm not thinking about? taxes or the charges which may affect me I'm going to california by the way.
Office Max is a good brick n mortar store, that sells the G-Note 10.1 All you have to pay extra is California's state sales tax.

I bought mine from newegg.com for $499 with free shipping (ups 3days) and without tax
while I was in a hotel in Texas for a business trip.
But I think you'll end up paying tax in California if you order from newegg.
Goto www.nowinstock.net and check out other online stores as well.
Good luck.
Thanks for the advice guys. I'm now thinking to avoid sales tax(and wasting my time finding stores) to buy the note 10.1 and Tab2 7.0(for my gf) on Amazon and have it shipped to my gf dad who lives in cali

I may be mistaking something, but how are you avoiding tax by purchasing online? Does it depend on the state you ship it to? I live in Canada, so I'm not used to this tax exemption concept.
well my understanding(recent research from google) is that most states have sales tax which is charged on top of the price of good at point of sale. I'm not exactly sure how online retailers avoid having to pay sales tax but I believe it has to do with selling good from outside the state where the customer is.
In the US, you usually don't pay sales tax online UNLESS the store has a physical presence in your state. That has it's exceptions though, like Amazon, here in CA you currently don't pay tax to sales fulfilled directly by them (sales fulfilled by 3rd parties on Amazon still carry tax IF they are in your state) because they have no physical presence in CA, however, through a deal made last year between CA and Amazon, we will have to start paying sales tax on ALL Amazon purchases, regardless of whether it's coming directly from them or from a 3rd party. If you want sales tax free online stuff in CA after September, you'll have to go with somebody like B&H, JR or Adorama, who are all located in New York City.
