4_WIPE DALVIK CACHE that you can find in the sub menu advanced , the DALVIK is the java virtual machine the part that runs applications for android .For speeding up execution of app these are compiled and put precisely in dalvik cache.il wipe should be done if you change rom or kernel , and at the start the dalvik cache if there is no will be regenerated,
And for this reason that the cell takes a long time starting after the wipe because the needs to rebuild.

Hi,
I am seeing mysterious behavior with my phone. I have un-installed few applications from my phone and those are still being shown in Task Manager >> Installed Applications list.
I tried rebooting in CWM and format everything, installed another ROMs but those entries are not going.
Anyone having any idea how to remove those entries or may be how to completely wipe it?

first of all, your name would indicate you dont even have the skyrocket?
secondly, what are you talking about?
examples
what apps
do you understand what loading a rom actually does?
don't worry about my name created that id before I replaced my phone with Skyrocket.
See the attached screenshot.

These are some old games/applications which I don't have installed on my phone now, but still these applications entries are there with their package name.
looks to me like its just saved data, and not the app itself. load up titanium backup and see if it sees the apps. you can also run a dalvik cache cleaner via tibu
don't see those applications installed in Titanium backup either. Clearing Dalvik Cache also does not solve the issue.
If I try to install any of those applications, I get a message that the application is already installed and if I wanted to replace it.
Any other idea?
you said you loaded a new rom to get rid of them, but did you WIPE data before loading the other roms?
Yes, I wiped everything I can from the CWM.
1) Wipe data/factory reset
2) Wipe Cache partition
3) Advanced >> Wipe Dalvik Cache
There is one odd thing though with Dalvik Cache, I get 2 messages
E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Dalvik Cache wiped
may be it has to do something with the sd-ext??

completely normal error. completely unrelated to your problem.
Any other clue? If there is a way to completely wipe everything?
I have Titanium backup of all my apps/games so wiping everything won't be an issue for me.

Huh? I didn't quite understand what you were saying. Please try to be clearer.
Are you saying it was wiped while still using coloros? If you booted coloros at all after wiping, you should wipe again to clear any coloros user data out.

Hello friend try to do what you said i did through Cwm PhilZ Touch but continue to offer me the same error audiofx do not know what it is that one plus
I am trying to clear system cache, so trying to get into recovery.
Tried adb reboot recovery but only reboots the phone. Also various combos power + vol down, vol down + USB cable don't seem to work. Anyone can get this to work in marshmallow?

Did you flash a recovery ? Which one? Cause sony doesn't have recovery partition.
No, it's all unlocked. Are you sure about the recovery partition though?
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
If you unlocked the bootloader you have to flash a recovery, sony doesn't have stock recovery that you can access.
Is there another way to clear system cache, on an unlocked z5?
Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
Maybe with adb command but i don't know.
Are you looking to clear app cache? System/storage/internal go to cache and tap it. Message will say clearing app cache

There's a partition called system cache, it's related to what we used to call dalvik cache, usually you'd clear it in recovery mode. I don't know whether there is another way of accessing that, other than of course being unlocked and install a custom recovery.

I am looking for exactly the same thing. I tried the usual powering off while holding the volume up button but it just boots up normally again.
Have you manage to find out how to get to recovery?

There is no recovery without unlocked bootloader
Sent from my Sony Xperia Z5 using XDA Labs
I have tried a lot of things which mentioned in different forums such as:
delete using root ES File Explorer.
delete apk files from /system/app.
clear Dalvik cache after uninstall (manually removing /data/dalvik-cache and /cache/dalvik-cache and using CWM recovery.
all mentioned earlier together several times.
Even install new ROM wiping data/factory reset and clearing Dalvik cache using recovery.
But no result. And I get something like this on startup if I clear Dalvik cache:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
So there is a location from where OS gets these apps, isn't it? How can I get rid of these redundant apps?
Update:
Here link where I downloaded ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249760
@igorek2312 that's building "Dalvik-cache" as you are using Odex ROM ( or Stock) that's necessary for Odex ROM.
You can not stop it than installing DeOdexed ROM.
Here is difference between Odex and De-Odex ROM and how it works : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2336411
Thanks for reply, @____Mdd. Here my ROM: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2249760. And it is DeOdexed.

Use an app such as "System app remover" or use ES File Explorer's root explorer to use the "uninstall system app " feature, after removing the apps reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik/ART cache.
I DO NOT PROVIDE HELP IN PM, KEEP IT IN THE THREADS WHERE EVERYONE CAN SHARE

I just updated to Android 11 and I was wondering how do I wipe the cache partition?
The system cache is cleared either from the boot menu (Samsung) or it's found in the software in Settings under storage, memory.
If it not on the boot menu it's somewhere in settings...

It's in settings. Look under storage and memory.
It's likely buried but its got to be there.
Maybe a hidden double tap drop down, I know Samsung is notorious for doing that... you know just for fun
Try a Google search for that model but also other devices from that manufacturer.

I also came across this website. Not only did they get the "how to get into recovery" wrong, but they also have the wrong recovery in the picture provided.
