HTC One S C2 is forgotten by HTC itself!!! - HTC One S

Those f*****g f*****s at HTC must have forgotten that they have released HTC One S with S3 processor, cause those assholes, haven't released a single OTA update for this phone, no Sens 4.1 one for us (not that I care about sens, but some might!), no 4.0.4 android for. I guess they don't mind having their phone in a customer hands with known vulnerabilities. And when you write to them they just act like the update is already out, and just try to convince you that you are probably to stupid to know how to use an update settings, or you live in to big of a **** hole for updates to find you. If somebody knows where and how to make a petition where we could show HTC how many unsatisfied costumers it have, I would glady to sign it, and rubb it into ther face. It is really not fare that such good phone has such bad support. And I don't want to buy a f**** flagship phone with gigantic screen just to have my phone supported by the manufacturer.
That would be all,
Have a nice day everybod,
and to be-loving HTC, F*** YOU and your s***ty update policy!
P.S.: I hope I won't get banned for bad language, but it is hard to express my rage against HTC differently

I spoked with an inginer from HTC and he said that we will receive android 4.1.
I asked him exacly when ... but he could not tell me...
I can post the whole conversation.

You have been connected to Romeo.
Customer: Hey Romeo
Romeo: Hello.
Customer: can you please tell me if any update is coming for HTC One S with s3 proccesor?
Romeo: Update to 4.0.4 does not come because since November will be released Jelly Bean.
Client: I understand
Client: S3 phones will be updated concurrently with those S4?
Client: or those with S3 must wait longer for in order to receive this update?
Romeo: Usually updates come depending on the country for which it was manufactured phone.
Romeo: But considering that this phone updates come in a different way can not yet confirm which of these models will receive the update first.
Romeo: I will try to keep you up to date on the ----- about this update.
Client :
Customer: Thank you for. information
Customer: ok
Client: a good day at work
Client: only better
Romeo:
Romeo: Thank you too.

I really hope they will release JB for this phone, but until I don't see I won't believe it. As I have written some other users have been asking HTC for Android 4.0.4 and Sens 4.1, and they said that update is already out, but there was no update for this phone. And just for a thought, when (if) we recevie this JB update this year, the new Android version will probably be already out (4.2 Lemon pie), cause LG Nexus 4 is announced by the and of november.

I will sell this junk and get a pure google phone. FU HTC!

That is exactly what I am thinking, it just bothers me a little that I must buy such an expensive and big phone (for me ideal phone is with 4.0 or 4.3 inch screen), just to have good support from a manufacturer or Google.

Yeah... that's a problem for me too but I will get used to it.

I've just got a call from a HTC employe regarding my bad review about HTC.
I completed a review form for HTC and told them that I'm very dissapointed.
She asked me why I'm so dissapointed and I told her about the problems that I had with HTC Sensation (dust problems and boot problems) and that now I'm dissapointed with HTC One S S3 a.k.a C2 because of the lack of support and ota updates.
I told her about the lack of updates and that HOS S4 users already got several updates. I even told her that we can't get custom roms for our devices because devs are not interested in this device and they don't have the stuff that they need in order to provide such roms.
She told me that she will forward my complains and they will do something about this problem.
I think that we need to do more bad reviews to make them do something!

Where did you post the review?

When I had problems with HTC Sensation they sent me a review form on my e-mail account.
I believe that you will receive one too if you contact customer support online.

So... only 9 replies... are the rest of you guys happy with your HTC One S Ville C2 and the support that HTC is providing?

Nope... not happy... it's just that whatever we do, HTC doesn't care about the "little people". They pulled a stunt, and in the short run, it worked.
I don't know how long it's going to last, because i think i'm not the only one who won't buy another HTC phone again.
That being said, I am very disappointed since i found that there are two versions of the One S - especially that i have the inferior one with limited support and development possibilities.
Long story, short: F U HTC !!!

I am very upset too.
I am really happy that we have awesome Devs who port their Roms on our S3 so wen can at least care about the updates on our own!

For me that was also my first and last HTC for sure. I worked during my whole summer vacation to get this phone and now I'm not satisfied with it. Should have gone with the SGS3 or tge Galaxy Nexus. I've already contacted HTC and they said that there will be update support because otherwise they would have announced that there will be no updates in the future. Somehow I can't believe this statement.

Support: Vielen Dank (Me), dass Sie HTC kontaktiert haben. Ihre Anfrage wird geprueft.
Me: Vielen Dank
Support: Das Update vom HTC One S soll in diesen Tagen ausgerollt werden. Bis alle Geräte erreicht sind, dauert es ca 45 Tage
Me: Welches Android wäre das dann?
Support: entschuldigen sie bitte. Das ist das Jelly bean Update
Me: Okey.

I am not happy with the lack of updates. I am in the queue to speak to HTC and will post my chat log here when complete.

I have to say i'm disapointed in the uptadate olicy for one s c2 too...the 3 dot menu black bar is really annoying on android 4.0.3, sense 4.0....
Although i cant say im experiencing lags with s3 processor...but i havent't tried the s4 processor...
Also, here in croatia (ex yugoslavia), there are no htc one s with s4...

Everyone should contact htc online or by e-mail and tell them that you are dissapointed. I believe that contacting them online via chat, they definiotely do something about this problem.

Thanks for the chat transcript!

Well all hell went down as my browser crashed when I finished the chat, and I have not received the transcript via email (still waiting though).
I do however remember the gist of it, just not word for word, so please do excuse me for this :/
They stated that the 4.0.4 update has already been released to automatic update servers. Depending on whether your phone is locked or branded with a certain network, times may vary. They did not mention anything about it varying from S4 to S3 models. The help representative also showed me how to check for update manually (Settings -> About Phone -> Software Updates -> Check Now) but of course this returned nothing. I did persist for a bit about the 4.0.4 update, but they started to get a bit annoyed so I decided to move on.
I then inquired about the 4.1 Jelly Bean update, but only got what looked like a copy/pasted response. I said that they have confirmed that the HTC One X, One XL and One S will be receiving the update. Seeing as I don't think other users have got this I did not persist with asking why.
To finish off I mentioned that all users I have seen on Android Development forums with S3 models have not been receiving the updates. Initially he stated that this was because they may be on branded/different networks or access different automatic update servers, However I replied with there are cases of people on the same network not getting the update due to having a different model. I then suggested he should take what I said and pass it on to a member with higher position in the company, but he returned by saying it was third party evidence which can not be accredited for accuracy.
At this point he seemed quite annoyed with me and I chose to leave before anything happened or he started to not answer my questions properly. Once again sorry for the lack of log, but if you believe me (this is the truth honest ) I appreciate it.

If you found this useful please hit thanks!

LG china confirms: GB for 3D&OB delay again until the end of this year

LG would like to express its sincere thanks to all of the Optimus Series owners who have been waiting patiently for the Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade. The [Number of models] premium smartphones of the Optimus Series, [Optimus Black and

LG Optimus Black and 3D: the end of December 2011
Again, LG greatly appreciates the support and feedback that customers have given during the upgrade delay, and we will do our utmost to continually provide better service in the future.
Thank you very much.
Not good LG,its very bad...
They said "in our market", it means in China. That mean it does not conflict with the official press release which said that the update will be rolled out for Europe open models in the week of 21st followed by other markets and carriers until the end of the year. So, if we get the kzd file for open models this week, no need to wait for other carriers.

Perfect, thats what I wanted to hear
Its all right being optimistic and speculating but I think LG have been purposefully vague.
I do hope they are only referring to the Chinese/Asian market but if the update was ready then why wasn't it released some time yesterday?
Hope I'm wrong though...

[Q] ICS 4.0.5 coming to i9020a this month (march)?

I saw some articles on the internet. (mostly rumours) that ICS 4.0.5 would be released for the Nexus S i9020a (for all variants for that matter). Does anyone have any more knowledge on this?
Anyways, so i guess i'm unrooting and returning to stock so that I can get the OTA update. Hopefully it will be out this month
EDIT: Any i9020a users who have received the 4.0.4 update either in the united states (AT&T) or in canada (fido/rogers) please post!
I wish man... but I gotta say this silence from Google is just plain annoying. Yes, I can root and install a ROM (which I already did, running BuglessBeast!) But to ignore every single Thread in their mobile forums regarding the OTA is the worst Customer Support ever.

I feel yaa! I hate it. I was running BugglessBeast too but just returned it to stock so that I can get the OTA update. Just being safe I'll be patient this month. If it doesn't come out by this month I'll root again and run bugless beast. There's something about official updates that makes me wanna have em over custom roms. Don't know what it is lol
Yup, I am sure I will get the Stock OTA from Google and then flash back to BuglessBeast or CM9 again LOL.

They hardly ever update their status. I wish they could tell us at what stage they're in for the ICS OTA update or at least tell us if we will be getting it or not. I would rather know that I'm not getting the ICS update rather than being left on the edge of my seat for monthsss.. It's been eternity ughh
EDIT: Couldn't stand being on gingerbread. I missed all the features of ICS (especially panorama shot ) So I rooted and went back to the bugless beast rom. LOOOL FTW
I seen a chart of ICS UPDATE release dates somewhere that had NEXUS S receiving the update in MARCH and that's all I've been able to find so I'm really hoping its correct (balls crossed) Have any other PHONES received the update as of yet????? If not then that's a real good sign we're still gonna get it. -KID ANDROID

I've seen that chart too! Let's hope it speaks the truth.
I personally love the ics aosp roms. They will defiantly be better than ota
Don't see how the ota will be better. Plus who needs ota when the custums run so buttery smooth and have such great features.
Edit: as for my signature
I just jumped boat to VGNexus and am loving life. Cheers.

All articles about 4.0.5 are related to the same french carrier website (SFR). And more especially the dedicated to Android part of the support website.
http://android.sfr.fr/maj-optimisez-votre-mobile-android-mettez-le-a-jour-previsions-7
As a french native speaker, I've been through the page and the comment section below.
On the top of the page you can see a picture according to wich the 4.0.5 OTA is comming to both Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S in march.
Of course, people are asking for a more accurate release date in the comment section wich SFR of course won't provide : still they seem to confirm the 4.0.5 update in March.
"ICS est prévu pour Mars pour le Nexus S !"
=
"ICS is planned for March for the Nexus S !"
(posted by "Team Club SFR Android" on 2012-02-08)
Knowing the fact that Nexus's updates usually come directly from Google (*), we may expect the OTA before the end of the month.
Though, I believe most of the SFR Nexus S are the i9023 (almost the same, screen appart as the i9020T if I'm not mistaken) as this is the most common variant in Europe (this is in fact the one I bought from France myself, living in a very near country).
(*) wich they confirm also in the comment section :
"En effet le Galaxy Nexus reçoit la MAJ par Google !
SFR valide le soft mais c’est bien Google qui se charge de la diffusion."
=
"Indeed the Galaxy Nexus receives the update from Google !
SFR approves the soft(ware) but it's Google who takes care of the diffusion."

Oh man.. Does that mean that there might not be an update for the i9020a. That's not fair at all most Nexus S are already updated to ICS except for the i9020a which is still on 2.3.6.... some even on 2.3.4 NOT FAIR GOOGLE... NOT FAIR
At this point, there is no clue wether the i9020a will or won't get the update. All I can say is that SFR wich seems to be the only source of all this articles talking about the upcoming 4.0.5 update is I think mostly (I guess only) using i9023 variant of the NS. As they will only approve the update Google will release for their SFR variant (i9023), it's impossible to tell wich variants the update will target. My point is they are talking about the i9023 on their website but still the update could be sent to all NS variants directly from Google. In fact SFR is really almost nothing in the update process. They are just (as a carrier company) I guess somehow more informed about the upcoming update. They seem to confirm March for the update but refuse/can't (it depends on the dev progress and will to release the update, not on them) to give a more accurate date as I stated in my previous comment.

So, afaik, this "report" is totally false. They aren't even done with 4.0.4. When it is done, then they will deal with pushing out OTAs.
I wonder why people with gingerbread (I can only assumed they did not root because of warranty) care about 4.0.5 when they don't even have 4 at all, or why people with rooted Nexus S care to unroot when they can probably get a better custom ROM than 4.x stock can offer...

Customer service said that the update, for the saga, isn't rolling out just yet.
Also he said that the article says that so far only one user reported that he got the ics update.
The answer from Android Support to this was that the statement made by the customer service is false and that he(Android Support) knows from a trustworthy source that the update for the saga is rolling out right now aswell.
Small edit:momentan which he put in quotes means currently, but with the quotes it doesn't really mean right now but now or in the near future.
Just to clarify this a little.

Still this ain't really proof of anything and I just wanted to bring you guys up to date with the latest infos over there, but on the other hand it does sound kinda promising.
Well,I guess the next days will show whether they were right or not.

HTC One S (Ville) is going to get 4.2.2 and Sense 5 after all?! and yes 4.3 too!

Just to make sure about the communication from HTC Europe on Facebook:
ME
What is this with the HTC One S not getting an update to 4.2? Did HTC go mad? I got my phone about twelve months. It has been out since end of April 2012, so you still have some months to go before Google stops 'supporting' the phone. The phone is still among one of the better ones and can run ANY firmware currently around (hence the many custom roms already on 4.2 even for HTC One, S, X, etc).
Please explain why you do (again) fail effort for your customers? I was heavily disappointed by the HTC One, which has a nice Sense 5, but nothing more. The camera sucks big time, as the pictures in all normal situations are sub-par on any other phone. Yes, they are. Take it from a Photographer. So there is no new HTC phone worth replacing the HTC One S, meaning you are killing your own market with this: 'We don't want to make it better, we want to make quick bucks.' Seriously?!

ME That is exactly what I mean. Why do many people still choose for an iPhone? Because Apple keeps supporting their phone. Don't come with: 'but we don't make the software'. Partially you do. However the part that is not yours STILL SUPPORTS THE PHONE! Also you could just explain that the court cases have caused you to stop developing for the hardware that is not allowed.
Just so you know: In Europe you are expected (by law) to support hardware for a acceptable period. Basically for IT systems and Electronics that is between the 3 to 5 years (check Microsoft and other vendors for this.

Strange though it would take 5 days to shut him up? the reply was not until the 17th when the original message was sent on the 12th.
We need a official statement from htc, not a facebook comment, and they didn't announced anything lately.
there is nothing official from HTC regarding the update for Ville & Ville C2
The last thing a company wants is a customer repeatedly whining to them over the same issue, even though they keep going back and forth over it. Best thing to do is leave and go to Samsung. Yes, TouchWiz is disgusting, but you will get OFFICIAL support for years.

Lately, these closed-sourced drivers are being pain-in-the-*** honestly. I think Samsung, after HTC, have also started this policy. Custom ROMs would ultimately be having some shortcomings. (?)
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
HTC have always been closed-source with Sense, haven't they? They were since the Wildfire, at least. It's because their linux OS works differently to the way that the normal AOSP linux OS works, so they're allowed to close-source it.
Eh, whatever, I'm getting a Galaxy S4 on Friday and then I'm not looking back. I'll just buy an aluminum-feeling back cover for it and then I have an improved One S made by a company that I know will give out support for a long time.
And for custom ROMs having shortcomings, take my CharmanDroid Sense 5 as an example. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi tether and FM radio don't work. These are all hardware related, so I see the problem, but we've based this from the Desire 600, which has the same Bluetooth, Wi-Fi antenna and antenna headphones built-in. So what is the problem?

Samsung aren't any better "overall" at all:

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2012/12/the-checkered-slow-history-of-android-handset-updates/
They only support their flagship devices properly, any other phone is pretty much dead on arrival.
HTC imo have the best support overall, they don't release as buggy updates, support a range of phones and bring the updates roughly at the same time across a range.
Their big problem is the way they decide to do stupid things like leaving out key devices i.e. desire hd, sensation etc. (one s is supposedly getting sense V5 now, believe it when I see people actually getting an OTA though........)
Supposedly the GS 2 isn't getting 4.2.2 either now due to optimisation problems (funny as supposedly the GS 2 plus is still getting the update yet iirc the hardware is worse.......), so it will probably be the same for the note I as well.
Samsung were quicker last year with the 4.1 update, however, HTC weren't much longer, iirc about 1-2 months later, however, they brought the update, not just to 1 device but 3 devices. I will be surprised if they can provide a bug free/well optimised update quicker than HTC again this year due to all the GS 4 phones they have released (and they have the note III coming out soon too) and plus touchwiz being even more bloated/feature rich and further away from stock where as HTC so far only has a few phones and their skin is pretty light now.

All of those are well over a year old. The game has far changed since then. Sony have actually started giving out updates, HTC have dropped devices that could still cope (Desire HD, Desire X, One S(?)) in an attempt to save money, which is shown by the loss that they have made this quarter, and Samsung are supporting lesser phones further, not just flagship phones. Not to mention none of those charts mentioned the worldwide (expect 'Murica) version of the Galaxy S II, which shipped with Gingerbread and is going to get Jelly Bean v2. Three major updates for a non-nexus phone. Even if it doesn't get that, it's still beached on the same version as us despite being a year older and having a year's worse CPU, GPU etc. That kind of says it all, really.

Fact is, most mobile contracts and legal warrantys run for 2 years so I think it would be just fair to pass laws forcing companies to provide atleast these 2 years of software support.
But these days its all about releasing a new phone every half year and forget about the previous generations...

They still have relevance though and plus this one is pretty new as it has the one x, gs 3 etc.
Yes it could very well change at any time, shouldn't be much longer till we find out which devices are getting 4.2.2 and 4.3.
Well in the UK, sony are still as slow as anything, only a month or so did the XZ get the update and the funny thing is, the unbranded sim free owners are still waiting for the 4.2.2 update.
The main reason they don't provide updates is because they want people to buy their new phones instead, just a marketing tactic that might work in the short term but won't do them any favours in the long run.
As I said regarding the GS 2 and 4.2.2:
Supposedly the GS 2 isn't getting 4.2.2 either now due to optimisation problems (funny as supposedly the GS 2 plus is still getting the update yet iirc the hardware is worse.......), so it will probably be the same for the note I as well.

Not much of an issue as it has received two big updates but either way if it is true then I would still be pissed for these reasons:
- galaxy s2 plus is getting it with worse hardware
- the phone was and still is extremely popular unlike our one S, which stop being sold here in the UK, not just in shops but online too like 4-5 months ago......
- it is one of the main reasons why Samsung are where they are today in the smartphone market and so they should provide the update as a thank you to the customers who made that device as successful as it is and in the long run is a big reason why Samsung are dominating the android market.
Well we don't know for sure yet what is happening with the one s, but the guy who leaked that info. has a reputation of being right about htc devices and he was the first to say that the s wouldn't get the update. Yes it will suck if we don't get the 4.2.2 update and I will hate HTC but to say that one company is better than another just because they don't/haven't updated a few devices is just not correct when shown via a number of sites (and many more out there), at least for the time being. They might be better for their "flagship" phones but when it comes to their whole range overall, that is where HTC are the best.
I doubt there will be much difference between USA and the rest of the world when dealing with unbranded/sim free devices except for the time at which updates come out.
What other phones aside from flagship devices are Samsung supporting? Specifically 4.2+ updates?
At the end of the day, you can only expect at least 1 big official android update for non nexus devices, at best 2, any more and you're pushing your luck then. The nexus devices aren't exactly free of this problem either:
nexus one came with 2.1 - got 2.2 and 2.3
nexus s came with 2.3 - got 4.0 and 4.1
galaxy nexus came with 4.0 - got 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3
No reason why the nexus one couldn't have got ICS and especially the nexus s and the 4.2 update.
So I suspect that KLP will be the last update for the GN.
Asked HTC Germaby for Android 4.2.2 with Sense 5 and got this answer
Hallo Filip Brzezik,
thanks again for contact us.
I get the information that the manufacturer of the processor decided that the compatibility is not stable to use that for a long time.
Thats not a decision from htc.
If you really want to have the version 4.2.2 you have to check out htc.dev website.
I think thats the only way for you to get the software. I allready infomed you about the risks what happenes when you root your device.
With the Version 4.1.2 you will have htc sense 5 and Blinkfeed also on the device. So my question is now why do you want to have the version of 4.2.2 ?
I hope this informations will help to answer your questions.
King Regards

Obvious phones getting 4.2+ will be GS3, N2, N1 a possibility and GS2 maybe as well. It's hard to think because so little Samsung phones come to the UK, compared to the hundreds of variants you get on the different US carriers. HTC getting 4.2+ will be One X, One X+ and One. Can't see the One S getting above 4.1. Sony getting 4.2+ will probably only be the Z and SP. LG and Motorola aren't even worth noting.
Also, EQS in 4.2! We want that!

It´s not being retarded at all. They are taking the time to test the builds and take care of found bugs to improve build quality, I actually like that a lot since the update we´ll get is much more stable by the end of February.

yes, it's being retarded, cause nougat should have been delivery to all world back in final of 2016 !!! Our phones are almost pure google phones!!! Nougat was released in August!!! Manufactures (not just Moto) had the time to test it and deploy it to their phones, specially Moto!!!
Nougat was released in India, and it's full of bugs!!! Didn't they had the time to test it?! come on...
And yes, prob they are delaying the release cause the india release was full of bugs, that's the only positive aspect of that.
You do realise that if they just release it like that, you'd still call them retarded because they release buggy, unfinished builds.

Am just wondering when we get 7.1.1 hmm?
Can't post like, but made a picture. Lenovo Germany Tweitter Account. They speak for all "retde" and "reteu" devices.
Translated means: "right now we can't tell you any further information concerning the update"
Looks like end of February is a farse (like Ende of December oder January).
And they also mentioned earlier it will be 7.0 and not 7.1.1
