Just wanting to see everyone's opinion for the ROM they think is best for recording. I'm going to a show tomorrow night and I'd love to be able to take some awesome pics and record some of the show. Obviously jb is out of the question because of the 720p recording problem. All ROMs will be considered

Got the CM7 build on my Skyrocket and it's great. But my camera won't record widescreen video and only shoots widescreen pics at 2.5M. Am I missing something here?

I'm seeing the same thing here using CM 7.2.
Okay. So we have two cases of this. I'd say that gives this question some merit. I should mention I'm using the dag kernel. Any ideas people?

Okay. So does anyone know what's going on here? I can't shoot widescreen photos or videos. This is a really big problem.

I have the same problem. I have CM7.2 v4 and the latest Da_g kernel. I did a little more digging, and found out that when recording "HD" in video mode, the resolution is actually 640x480. That's why it doesn't look widescreen. If you switch the resolution to "Hi", it records 720x480, but at least the aspect ratio is correct. To get 8mp pictures, you need to make sure you switch the resolution in camera setting.
I did several complete wipes and reinstall without any luck. Was able to get all the other problems, such as LTE APN and audio working. So this is the only thing not working. Any help is much appreciated!
Okay. I shot some video using the various settings, and I see what you're talking about with the "Hi" setting and 480p(WS) video. But there is no way to shoot 720p/1080p(WS) video or 6.5MP(WS) pictures using this ROM as-is (at least not that I'm aware of). The stock Skyrocket ROM allows 720p/1080p(WS) video recording and resolution settings of varying aspect ratio for photos.
Where's the love people? I didn't put CM7 on my Skyrocket just to take it for a spin and/or play around with it. I knew what I was doing and I wanted CM7 on my phone. I've been a devoted Cyanogen user every since I flashed my NOOK Color with it so long ago. I just want the ROM that I love and trust so much to properly interface with my device's camera and user. Is that asking too much? I flashed my phone with CM7 to add features, not to remove them.
I'm all out of ideas here. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Anyone... please!

I think it's something we'll just have t owait for an official CM7/CM9 release. The dev who put this together has his own Skyrocketeer ROM. So this is kind of a hobby for him, which I can appreciate. The official CM devs are probably busy on CM9.
If I had enough posts, I'd put it in the thread in the dev section. That *may* prompt a better response. Until then, I think we just need to decide if it's good enough for what everyday use.
Hi everybody, I had a question. Is there a way to change the camera quality to make it higher? The S3 already takes great video and pictures but why not try to push things. The audio records 124kbps and the video will do 16mbps just wondering what it would take to bump that up a little. These devs are amazing and if I knew anything more then the average flasher I would love to help.

I've been having this same problem. It seems that the problem arises when you start recording right after starting the camera. I've found that if I wait a few seconds after switching to the video camera, the videos come out perfect.
Unfortunately, there's no way to know if your video will be messed up until after you're done, but at least you can improve your chances. If anyone with a little more dev knowledge can suggest something better, I'm all ears. I have an 11-month old little girl and it really sucks when the videos don't come out.

Hello XDA-Gurus, just wanted to know if it is posible to get Best Photo and Best Group Pose functions on our Notes? If so, is anyone able to do it?
Does it requiere additional hardware? is just a software function?
Would like to hear what you think?
I also wanted that feature.

Okay so I looked all over xda, play store, xposed downloaded , Mahdi customization and pimp my ROM. I can't find anything that allows audio for screen recordings. I got this really cool megaman thing going on with my n5. Wallpapers and colors and sounds. I wanted to record it with the sound on. Any pointers?

When I first used this:

I noticed it was recording via microphone so maybe it will capture the audio you want. Just dont sneeze cause you'll have to start again

That ^^ and I do know that ROM's have incorporated Audio Recording with Screen Recording. The original commit was made for ChameleonOS so they definitely have it. Other ROM's have it built in as well. As for which ones, you will have to do some research
I'll try the app. I'm currently running Mahdi. Good stuff. I'll read up on the Dev pages. Hope I find it baked in if the app doesn't work.

Or you can just plug a line in from phone to PC and record the audio then mix together.
That's how i usually do it.
This is an old video from my HTC one x.
I had to use a video recorder for the video because there want any way to record android video on the tegra3 soc at the time but I just used the headphone Jack to line in on pc to record and then mix together and you get something like this.

If U are using CyanogenMod U can probably try CyanogenMod Screencast.
