Might be a noob question, but can it be done? Even if its not for the 720p video recording possibility, the galaxy S has alot of features within the camera app that are useful!
I was interested to know that too....
No it requires the touchwiz framework. There are many threads about this. Use the search feature before making a new thread.
Try the miui rom it has pretty much nice camera functionality or a third party app such as camera 360

Skype 2.1.0.46
New version of Skype released yesterday. Video calls are working on my Inspire. Just wanted to share in case anyone missed it
not working here.
Out of curiosity, what's the point without a forward facing camera? Do you use a mirror?
Sent from my Unity Inspire 4G.
I used it for testing and its better than the one in yahoo. Its not that I really don't have a choice cos xperia arc don't have front camera, but the arc camera is known to be of superb quality. Also its nice to be talking to someone while showing your surroundings or someone to them. That's the point of the rear camera

Does anybody know how to do video calling using Samsung Galaxy Fit GT-S5670 (android 2.3.4)???
I have already installed yahoo messenger and skype in my mobile!!!
Please reply soon....
Dude I think I m not sure it is pretty much impossible bcz fit doesn't have front camera. Even if you use back camera how u will see other person's face on screen. So it I
Is pretty much waste........

we cant really do it..bcoz no front camera means we can't see the other person's face(Mirror anyone? well it's such a hassle!)
Though there is a MOD of google talk with video plugin for backward camera
It might help...
Can you please give us the link to that mod !
Hello,
How are you?
SInce I am using my note a bit more to take pictures, I was wondering if there is a camera App that is better than the stock camera in regard to overall image quality, either by lower compression of files, or by better use of the camera hardware.
So, dear note users, what is your take on this?
Thank you.
Cheers!
I use as photo application Camera ZOOM FX https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom is very good camera App :good:
I'm running Paranoid Android and find the stock Camera to be pretty poor. The best alternative I found is:
Pro Capture
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neaststudios.procapture&hl=en
I should say though, that the stock TW camera is better.
CameraZoomFX is good if you plan to add effects and stuff to your pic's. if you want a more DSLR/professional like handling of the cam app and .png files instead of .jpeg, you should take a look at FV-5 Camera https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.lite there is also a paid version with even more features.
I'm using Pudding Camera and it's really cool but the stock app in TouchWiz is enough for daily use.
I use the Camera X or even the Shot Control Camera.. They have many customizable options like a pro at your finger tips
I am using shot control too.
Dev seems responsive according to comments.
Have emailed regarding geolocation support and custom folder support.
Other than that, it is a pretty sweet app that allows you to access features on the main screen.
So you can control ISO, and exposures, and focus modes easily.
You can also map to hardware keys.
The Note's large screen does help a little here.

@Markuzy Totally agree with you.. Shot control screen is just great on the galaxy note considering the screen size. The feature request is also just what i was looking for.
Is there any mod for the camera on the note? Like there is for the HTC One X?
Cheers

Honestly my dream camera app will be something that can do everything from HDR merging to fast capture to panorama.
Unfortunately I have yet to find an app that does all that. Only the individual apps for each feature can be found.
One thing I found out is that localized touch focus on Gingerbread Galaxy Note is proprietary to Samsung while it is native to ICS.
This may be something that you are missing out on 3rd party camera apps unless you are on ICS already.

Try Camera FV-5. It has all controll on the screen.

Hi everybody, I had a question. Is there a way to change the camera quality to make it higher? The S3 already takes great video and pictures but why not try to push things. The audio records 124kbps and the video will do 16mbps just wondering what it would take to bump that up a little. These devs are amazing and if I knew anything more then the average flasher I would love to help.
