Okay so I looked all over xda, play store, xposed downloaded , Mahdi customization and pimp my ROM. I can't find anything that allows audio for screen recordings. I got this really cool megaman thing going on with my n5. Wallpapers and colors and sounds. I wanted to record it with the sound on. Any pointers?

That ^^ and I do know that ROM's have incorporated Audio Recording with Screen Recording. The original commit was made for ChameleonOS so they definitely have it. Other ROM's have it built in as well. As for which ones, you will have to do some research
I'll try the app. I'm currently running Mahdi. Good stuff. I'll read up on the Dev pages. Hope I find it baked in if the app doesn't work.

Or you can just plug a line in from phone to PC and record the audio then mix together.
That's how i usually do it.
This is an old video from my HTC one x.
I had to use a video recorder for the video because there want any way to record android video on the tegra3 soc at the time but I just used the headphone Jack to line in on pc to record and then mix together and you get something like this.

Let me give you an example. I use the MyTracks program when I am running. I set it up to speak an audio announcement every 5 minutes. While it is running I also have Google Music playing music.
With CM7, whenever the 5 minute interval comes up, it quiets the music and speaks the message. When it's done with its announcement the music returns to normal volume.
I have tried many Sense ROMs - stock, LeeDroid, Virtuous unity, and RCMix3D. with all of these ROMs, the MyTracks application does not quiet the music to do its announcement.
Is there something unique to CM7 that allows an app to take the audio focus like that? is there any way to do that on a Sense ROM?
Thanks.

If the app is set up properly to quite the music then it will work. As stated power amp does this perfectly. With that be said it can be done but if it isn't working its an app issue working with the Sense rom base. I would let Google know and see what they say as it does work just not for that app
Anyone have an idea why the sound is so scratchy when recording in a nightclub?

Yes, according to the link, it will work on any gingerbread rom. I installed it about 30 min ago, and can notice a slight difference on my low-grade headphones. Will try again on my good ones at work.
EDIT: I'm at work, using good headphones, and the quality difference is distinct enough to notice easily.

Just installed it on my phone. I have ZAGG buds which have decent sound for their price (I got them half off too). I admit I'm a little skeptical being a little more on the casual audiophile side. I know that with the DAC this phone has, high quality music shouldn't need silly gimmicks to make it sound better, but I'm about to see what I think now I guess!
Edit: Bah, I'm dumb and listened to Spotify before I applied so I had a crappy comparison. Anyway, playing FLAC in PowerAMP after installing sounds pretty good, but I almost feel like I hear a little compression that may be caused by Beats. Might remove the mod and test some more over the weekend. Overall it sounds pretty great though. No complaints.

Beats audio is software EQ only. Voodoo Control app is more functional, better, and doesn't consume battery life as an extra EQ layer on top of your audio. Also according to supercurio (twitter.com/supercurio), the ports violate HTC and Beatsbydre licensing, while also asking for donations for violating said license.
Well...that threads been out a while, so apparently someone got permission, so until they start shutting threads down i say beats is much more clear than voodoo... Good job bro...

So I just put this onto my phone today, which has Revelation Rom on it. Downloaded the file from my browser, then rebooted to recovery. I made a backup of my system through recovery when it rebooted to it. Then I flashed the zip, rebooted phone and voila! The phone seems like the audio is much better, but I don't know if there is anywhere to verify the flash took. There is no app in my app folders, maybe theres a beats folder in my phone somewhere.
The are multiple files. One that you can just check is in the system/bin folder. You will see files that say ibeats in them. That is the only folder i can remember right now.

I'm sure supercurio would disagree.
but voodoo and this are two different things with different purposes. cant be compared. voodoo is an open source driver from wolfson for our chip hacked into a module to replace the closed source Samsung driver unlocking some native features and givving acess to the hardware volume control. there is more it does on cm7 but it was left out of the Samsung roms because we have some software correction or emulation or eq in our libs that the rom depends on and can't be turned off. supercurio didn't want to stack layers of emulation or correction because of unpredictable or poor results or an effect of diminishing return.
this is software effects and/or equalization. the problem I have with that is the nature and quality of the effects is unknown. it may be sophisticated correction for the htc hardware and possibly have negative effects on our hardware. it might just be some compression or reverb to emulate a listening environment, might be a combination. we dont actually know. we also don't know how this plus our Samsung software is really effecting the integrity of the signal. but if you think it helps by all means use it. I personally see no reason to mess with it especially on a Samsung rom.
Is there a way to flash an apk or zip file to get a system wide EQ on our phone like Beats? The sound output via the headphones is soooooo low. Any help much appreciated. Thanks!
Viper4Android is by far the best IMO. It's a much easier install than AC!D as well. Beats(even Awesome Beats) was always garbage to me. Especially compared to AC!D/Viper4Android.

I've decided to give a try to the Beats Audio™ PRO that used before on my N7 which is now outdated on playstore...if you find it and it works for you it is night and day compared to the original output. There is no equalization but IMO there is no need to. You can still play with EQ with your music player (I use poweramp). I've tried several DSP managers (downloaded, integrated in custom roms, etc...) but nothing comes close this mode. The only inconvience - you need to be root.

Viper works, I highly recommend if using with a good IRS. Works great on my Nexus 5!! Best audio mod I've used.
Okay. I had installed beats on a previous phone awhile ago and wasn't at all impressed. The EQ in poweramp was good enough. However, seen this thread today and figured I'd give viper a shot being as how a couple people recommended it. Well, I am quite impressed. I've tried it on phone speaker and Bluetooth and it definitely offers an improvement, especially on Bluetooth. Hopefully, it is just as good on the headset, haven't been able to test it out yet. But yeah, definitely worth installing.

Do you have the "Enable/V4A-FX is powered on" check box checked for the output you're using? There is one to check for Bluetooth, Speaker, and Headphones. All three have been working for me on Google Music.

V4A is a comprehensive audio-driver replacement, not just some software EQ.

All beats mods implement "beats" which is marketing hype and not much else of substance other than some eq changes so why you'd want a beats mod is beyond me.
There are about 5 threads about this in various forums, use the search function. Beats is just an equalizer same with their headphones, it is nothing special, rootsu got the post before I did =D

It can. There is an extra loudness option for the speaker. For headphones and bluetooth you can play around with adjusting the gain and master limiter.
I've been playing with viper for a little bit. It's definitely more comprehensive than the stock equalizer, and it takes care of the (imo)low volume, but it's a little overwhelming. I have no idea what half of the settings are for. It works well, though.
Also, I had to download an older version for the drivers to work.
Thanks for the input!
