Hi! I just ordered the Chinese smartphone Jiayu G2 from an online store. It is dual SIM, 1 GHZ MT6575 CPU, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM, 4.0 IPS screen, dual cameras with 8.0 megapixel rear camera, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Look at the full specs here: http://www.chinaphonereview.com/jiayu-g2
I bought the phone because it has good specs and the price is only $169.99. I'm still waiting for it to be shipped though. I would like to know your opinions about this phone and if there are people who have tried this phone already. It would be nice to have some type of support for the Jiayu G2 in this forum.
Chinese phone usually aren't supported in this forum just because of the fact that most people here by brand name products. It looks like a great device based on specs. Give us your thoughts when you get it.

who knows, maybe it will be a good phone to start the experience with android, but here in italy you can take with 199 euros the excellent somy xperia u, that's a dual core android phone, that it's supposed to be followed by community.
i think that your won't be supported here, but with android you can do thousands things.
i hope you will enjoy your phone.
Sounds like a killer phone to me.
I always get ripped buying anything shipped from china. If it seems to good to be true..... IT IS.
That said if the phone is any good please let us know

I received this phone from China last week, I am using it to run a business app, all is well, good screen and great to have more memory than on some other phones.
Testing Wifi printing, again no problems, only issue I have is with the Bluetooth and sending large data packets.
Another point I am not using this as a phone so can't comment on that.
But overall I am very impressed with the quality and service provided.

It's good to know that someone had a good experience with it. I was afraid it only looked good on paper. But now I feel confident that I made a right decision by buying it. I will definitely share my thoughts on this phone when I receive mine.
By the way, is your phone's firmware updated? There's an update for Jiayu G2's firmware at their official website www.ejiayu.com dated May 24, 2012. But you need to translate their website from Chinese to English with Google Translate.
Pictures please? I'm curious!

Huawei is a more established Chinese brand, so it is much more expensive than the other Chinese phones. But I think Jiayu has a lot of potential reaching the international market because it has its own factory with a research and development department. It also has its own website with support for its products.
phone look nice, but better get a well established phone brand for better after sales service

Hello,
In the about phone tab I have this
Android Version is 4.0.3
Kernel Version : 3.0.13
I just checked the search for updates and it said there was one from 27th June.
When you say firmware is that the same as the kernal version ?

I'm not really sure. I think firmware and kernel are different things. Can someone help us here?
Did you update your phone already? Has your Kernel Version changed?
kernel and firmware are two different thing.
kernel is core component of the operating system (Android) that does the communication with the hardware.

I disagree. Jiayu G2 looks more like Galaxy SII. Meizu M9 costs around $260 from the link that you provided. It's $100 dollars more expensive than Jiayu G2. That's a big difference and Jiayu G2 has much better specs. So Jiayu G2 is clearly worth buying.
I just received my Jiayu G2 today. My initial impression of it is very good. The navigation is very smooth, no lags. The IPS screen is clear even when viewing at angles or at direct sunlight. Tried WiFi connection and it browses the internet fast. The camera is better than I expected it to be. Images captured were clear. The phone is certainly worth it. I'm loving my new phone already.
Soooo I saw today that the AT&T's LG Nitro HD gets Ice Cream Sandwich starting July 31st. Does this give the G2x & O2x a hope for ICS? Even though LG Canada made a statement saying we wont.

I've lost my optimism... I wish I had yours....
I've definitely lost about 95% of hope for ever getting a fully functional ICS on this phone. However, instead of jumping ship right now, I'm waiting for the New Year when I think Google will come out with their new Nexus device (following their current pattern). It's kind of win-win that way: I'll be waiting past Q3 of 2012, which is when LG said they'd be releasing ICS on a lot of their devices; if Google continues to improve their phones as they've had in the past, this new one will be amazing.

yup, i have server driver issue w/ nvidia. nvidia blows and known to ditch customer in the middle of no where. Didn't expect that from LG.. I am thinking of grabbing GNEX or an iPhone. Atleast Apple's support isn't crap, so as google's. GNEX next, will wait till sept to see what goes on.

On the same boat as you my friend. iPhone or GNex. Just gonna wait it out till I get enough money for either phones. Hopefully by then I can get a new phone in my budget.
Actually, I was going to get a Gnex, but couldn't bring myself to buy another dual core while quad cores are out.
I'm mainly keeping optimism because I like the "shape" of this phone. It's not too massive like some other phones, and pretty snappy (on gingerbread that is.)
ICS would make everything better, and if we don't get it, I'll probably jump ship next year
Nope, LG Canada officially replied to someone and said that they won't be updating the LG Optimus 2X and LG Black to ICS.

Got a point I guess we got to wait until the 16th to see the specs of the phone......
There was a user on here who had posted a screenshot of an att version and he claimed it was snapdragon
I was clearly under the impression that the entire US market was snapdragon and alot of other major markets as well due mostly to the limited availability of the Exynos processors. Either way so long as I can get mine very, very soon I don't care. More to the point I want it rootable.
Korean site Samsung Mobile is unboxing the brand new LTE Advance version of the Galaxy SIV (SHV-E330S), that packs the first world Snapdragon 800 chipset to hit retail stores (later this week). I do not hold copyright over the content, hopefully it's okay to post their pictures and upcoming info. Nice color versions BTW!

Galaxy S4 Octa-core vs. S4-Advance benchmarks
I see it's coming out in 32gb..Samsung is getting greedy and these iterations will drive their revenues down in a year. You can't be serious, after an unfinished s4,
Coming out with active then lte a then zoom, and none of these have the octa-core which just proves that the chip was a failure

Theoretically it's the same old S4 sporting yet another hardware pack, suspicions of the Octa-troubles and/or Qualcomm's better LTE energy management are probably true.
If this goes international which i have a feeling it just might with 32Gb for the same price i paid for my original S4, I'll be mighty pissed off tbh.
I've noticed recently the price of the S4 has skydived in some places to well under £500.
Snapdragon800 in the S4 LTE-A and other upcoming flagships is insane!

Ppl. shouldn't be too pissed, just accept that things got sped up lately. Last September Note II broke benchmark records then it was bested in mere weeks by the S4 Pro SoC, then SD600 put that into the past via HTC One in March, then then the Octa-core shattered records in April, and now that the SD800 is out, Samsung cannot NOT put that into it's LTE-A S4 refreshment. I guess it'd be easier to swallow if it only got an updated Octa-core, but there is no such a thing after the Exynos mess. So you need to swallow this one, and then the LTE-A buyers when Note III breaks their records, then Tegra 4 comes out on top, then say hello to Ativ Q and Core i5 Haswell powered Android. That's how things go today, and I hope this eases your (understandable) pain.

Considering the fact it is designed for the Korean market, it will probably have some funky bands and won't be compatible with most other markets.

Exactly. The same discussion took place on the One forum when the Butterfly S was announced with better specs. A "flagship" doesn't come with any guarantees of the duration of its status. And "newer" happens all the time; the auto industry is a good example. How did people that bought a 2012 Range Rover late in the year feel when a completely redesigned version was launched a couple of months later?
As for LTE-A, S-800, Octa and the like it comes down to connectivity. Qualcomm makes 90% of the radios in mobile devices including a lot of previous Exynos-equipped Samsung devices. There are 40 LTE bands globally and current Qualcomm radios max out at 6. Using a Qualcomm SoC with a Qualcomm radio makes sense with the sudden importance of LTE. It’s actually kind of cool that Samsung Corporate doesn’t force Samsung Electronics to use Samsung Semiconductor products and instead pick what best accomplishes the mission. As for S-800 in the SGS4 LTE-A perhaps it's tied to compatibility with the new LTE-A radio. The SGS4 (or One, or XZ, or OG) don't need a S-800 chip to perform well. Any lag or s/w issues with the standard i9500/05 aren't h/w related as their benchmarks are superior to other devices that aren't having those issues. And battery life is unknown but it's certainly going to consume more energy than S-600. And Samsung probably spent about $500+MM on R&D for big.LITTLE. So if 1/3 of the 60MM SGS4's sold this year are Octa that equals $25 per phone sold which based on a BOM cost of $30 would have been a complete waste of time. They aren't that stupid and I personally believe you'll see Octa use ramp-up once Qualcomm releases the RF-360 40-band LTE radio this fall. That radio brings to LTE the compatibility that currently exists for GSM bands. The N3 could be the first device using RF-360 based on its fall launch schedule and if it is I’d bet anyone here the N3 will be Octa. Maybe not the same version of Octa as in the SGS4 but Octa nonetheless. 17 companies have licensed big.LITTLE from ARM and 7 chips are to be released this year. So big.LITTLE/Octa isn't going away; in fact it's in its infancy.
As for the gazillion "Galaxy's" Samsung's producing that's smart. Each is aimed at a pretty defined niche and allows the expanded portfolio to appeal to more people increasing sales prospects. I think the mission of the SGS4 Active against the SGS4 is a lot more defined than the Butterfly S against the One with the latter two being competing high-end phones aimed at exactly the same market.
All just my opinion of course.

On average (non-gaming) usage I can see the SD800's newer build being easier on the battery than the SD600, but we'll see. What is your prediction for the Note III's Octa-based GPU? Surely it has to go against the Adreno 330 so it must be something strong.

I too wonder if the s800 will sip on the battery more lightly with the beefed up GPU. The adreno330 can supposedly handle 4k resolution so 1080p oughta be a cakewalk and allow it to run on a lower stepping and voltage. Just a theory. I also hope the note3 is full rgb also. Pentile looks fine in 1080p but I want all my subpixels dammit.

i sent my lg flex 2 back to currys and pc world for a full refund as i was getting really bad overheating problems unless i was rooted so i can eaither rebuy a flex 2 and hope that this one wont overheat as someone else did that on this forum and it didnt overheat or i could just get my refund and buy a whole new phone altogether, i am think the oneplus X but if there are any better phones then that could you please leave it in the comment down below as i dont know what to chose from
(Budget is 220)
Check out Xiaomi Mi4c, u can get 3/32GB version for about $220.
It's Snapdragon 808 so performance very close to Flex 2 and it doesn't overheat.
No SD slot but 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is plenty imo.
I had mi4c and kinda regret i sold it and got Flex 2...
Oneplus X is much slower but has very nice build quality, also plenty of development on xda (custom roms).
Flex 2 will overheat no matter what because it's older Snapdragon 810 revision.
got my missus a redmi note 3 pro, which has the SD650 chipset and is very fast, @80,000 for antutu. It seems very good so far and has really good battery life, 10-11 hours screen on time here, and is very cheap. Only thing I've had to do to it is turn off memory optimisation in developer settings because it was killing apps in the background at an insane rate, making downloads fail, home screen redraws etc.. the other thing is it might not support 4g on certain networks, you'll have to check
best bit is if you drop it, you don't care

General Tips for Buying Used Phones.
Don't have any tips on a specific replacement phone, but when shopping in general Swappa is a good place to find cheap phones (and is the official marketplace for XDA.) This is where I'd look first thanks to the support and generally good community.
I actually picked my G Flex 2 off of a Craigslist ad for $130 USD and saw several other 2015 phones under $200 in my area; excellent prices can be had but no buyer protection this way. If you take this route, make sure to get pics of any damage if not listed, ask if anything is wrong/everything works, and recheck everything in person before the purchase. Request phone to be charged so you can use the phone hands-on and make sure the OS is functional; check the software version in system settings and look for signs of root apps (mine was rooted by the previous person so I immediately reflashed stock ROM and rooted myself once home, just to be sure nothing nasty like spyware or a device recovery app was left behind on there.) Bring small accessories too that you want to make sure will work like USB cord with charger, headphones, NFC tag, etc. Most importantly, arrange to make the phone purchase at the phone's carrier store. I scheduled the purchase to be at a Sprint store for my LS996 so I could verify with them if the ESN was blacklisted or clean, or if there was anybody else who had the phone on their account (active or inactive.) I could've asked for the MSL code and official Unlock to GSM Domestic once confirmed clean by Sprint but I've made the phone work on AT&T GoPhone LTE without it using the guide here.
Regardless of you go through, make sure to take all reasonable precautions to make sure the phone works and will suit you. Pay attention to the seller's attitude too: typically honest sellers will accommodate most requests and dishonest ones may question you or refuse your requests. You may also get a dishonest seller that is eager to rush the sale if they sense you aren't catching something wrong with the purchase - honest sellers will generally be patient if you show genuine interest in buying.
You made a mistake to give it back .for the price flex 2 is the best out there. As for oneplus x it has the 801 snapdragon that means an older processor like the original oneplus.
And one advice from a fellow "performance freak" . dont rely on benchmarks only they are a useful tool to check performance but everyday use is a better factor. For example:
One of the fastest phones out there is samsung s7 exynos version.
But it has a slower gpu than the snapdragon820 version.
In Geekbench for example the exynos version gets far better scores. In every day use the single core performance matters at most. Multicore is for gaming mostly.
In antutu the snapdragon version gets better scores because of the better gpu.

Mi4c is better.
The screen is terrible on the g flex 2. But it has a far better camera then the OnePlus x.
Also i'd pick Snapdragon 801 over 810 anyday. The battery drain is ridiculous with the 810.

I think the opo x have better updates, but if that is not important for you... take a flex2.
Any way take a look at findyourperfectphone.com, have a chart with phones filtered for price/value, and one expert mode to see all phone with the aspects that you want...
