[Q] Slide Gesture to Delete - General Questions and Answers

Hi, is there any apps that i can install to swipe to delete on sms, email, contact and etc other than press and hold long for option to pop out??
Most I found is swipe to unlock and answering calls.
TQ

Hold long option to pop out will probably only be on the powerful devices.
But I think you are asking for a bit much when you say that.
On the other hand The swipe to delete sms, email and contact is already integrated into the latest versions of android and some ROMS. How about including your device name so others can recommend a ROM.

How useful that was. Thanks

Bump.
I would alos like to know if there is a patch or something to add this feature. I just migrated from a palm Pre 2 (WebOS) to a Galaxy s3 running the Jelly Blazed TW ROM. I keep accidentally calling people when trying to delete a message string. If there isn't I imagine I will get used to it eventually.

Currently I'm on Galaxy Note running on original rom 4.0.4 - N7000DXLR1
Hope have a sliding gesture apps to overwrite the press and hold feature.

Actually, the only reason I said it was because I used to use that feature in one of the first roms on my x8. It was a gingerbread one that incorporated a lot of the ICS features like the scroll glow.
So yes there is. The gmail does have a slide to delete. Like on the notification drop down.

[Q] New Charge new questions

Well, probably old questions but I didn't see any threads dealing with this.
First one is-- is there a way to select multiple emails for deleting (or moving, etc.)? Coming from a Droid X where this was option was always available. I'm using the stock email app on the Charge.
Second question-- there's an icon at the top of the homescreen that looks like a circle with a plus sign in the middle-- what is that? It looks like the VZNavigator icon but I haven't used that program yet.
Third question- regarding the four non-hardware buttons on the bottom of the screen (phone, contacts, messaging and apps)-- can I change the apps those buttons control? If yes, how? Couldn't find anything in settings.
Last question-- the Droid had a feature that I loved-- you swipe the puzzle piece to the right to unlock the screen AND/OR you swipe to the left to put the phone in silent mode, easy as pie. Loved that. Any way to achieve silence with a simple swipe like that? Or is there a widget for accessing silence?
Thanks very much,
Greg

1. In Gmail all you do is tap the check marks. Stock email app I don't know. Maybe try pressing the menu key and looking for a multi select?
2. Can't picture that. Can you provide a screenshot? (back+home)
3. AFAIK, no.
4. Any rom here has a better lockscreen. The puzzle is crap. I have the 4Tab TSM part on my phone (Gummy 2.0 FTW!). Unlock, silence, phone, and messaging.

Thanks for the quick response.
Nothing in the menu for selecting multiple emails that I could find. That's an important feature so I gotta believe there's an option for this somewhere.
I assume you rooted your phone? Just got mine two hours ago and it seems kinda early for that. I'm gonna give it the two weeks to see how much I can learn about this thing. Coming from the Droid X, which was a great phone but had it's share of issues. But I got used to a lot of the good things about that phone. Like the silence swipe and multiple emails select thing.

Yep. Flashed a new rom the day I got it. All roms here will root you, unless it's a stock rom rip. The swipe to silence is fixed when you flash a new rom
I wonder why the stock app doesn't have multi select. It wouldn't make sense not to have it. I'm sure it's there, we just can't find it. I can't really help you there, as I've never used it.

In the stock email app there should be little check marks on the far left side of the email. You check which ones you want to (Mark as Read) or (Delete). You should be able to check off as many individual emails as you like.

In regards to your 3rd question about changing the icons in the dock, you can only do that if you download a 3rd party launcher, such as ADW. I don't remember if you need root for it since I rooted mine 2 days after I bought it. If anything, you could always root your phone and try it out. There are packages/ROMs/kernels on this forum that you can flash to your phone to unroot it and bring it back to factory stock.
You can definitely run LPP without rooting.
My boss uses it in his DroidX and it's not rooted.

Not true. You can change icons in the dock on the Touch Wiz launcher. In the application drawer press the menu button (bottom left hand key), press the edit soft key that comes up, and drag and drop your icons to the dock.
I would recommended downloading an alternative launcher from the market to speed up your phone. Root is not required to use alternative launchers.

The circle with a cross in it (with some curved lines next to it if you have Google/Verizon location services enabled) is indicating that you have emergency GPS enabled. You cannot remove this icon without root as far as I know and you are required by law to have emergency GPS enabled.

You guys are awesome- thanks so much for the help. I will be trying out TouchWiz and ADW today, and ignoring that extra unecessary icon...
The un-ability to select multiple emails is going to be an issue for me- suggestions on workarounds or alternate email programs would be appreciated. I've got two email accounts plus the obligatory gmail.
TouchWiz crashes for some reason but ADW is doing what I wanted- thanks again!
The stock email app on my phone has check marks next to the messages for multiple selection. Try making sure that you are on the latest stock firmware (EE4)

I think I wasn't clear on what I'm looking for-- I want a menu selection option that says "select all" in the email app. The Droid X has it and I really want that feature back. A few minutes ago I selected, one at a time, 30 emails to delete- very tedious.

Okay, sorry about the confusion. I do not see a select all either. If you have several selected then there is an option to unselect all. I agree that this should be a feature.

[Q] Can Mini Apps be edited/changed?

Hello All,
Just a quick question... can the mini apps at the bottom be changed to use other apps? I called Sammy tech support and they said I'd have to check w/Google since it's built into the ICS OS. I find this odd because I've checked other tabs at Worst (Best) Buy and they didn't have this mini-app tray.
I want to use other apps in its place. I wonder why when you view the mini apps you'll see an "edit" icon, however, when you click on it, everything is greyed out so you cannot edit or switch-out the mini-apps.
Thanks!

I believe this is a TouchWiz feature, and my understanding is that you cannot use other apps. Only the ones provided by Samsung.

I don't have it in front of me, but I believe that lets you add and remove the existing quick apps. Also, it probably isn't out of the realm of possibility that someone could develop a quick app and it would appear, but I bet there isn't a whole bunch of people building these quick apps.

Mini Apps is built into the status bar, not the launcher. it will always be there.
Hate it...i wish i could get rid of the miniapps, sometimes it pressed accidentally and bug my gaming time
If Olny some1 develope mini app for the notes that would be great for ppl who read and like to write quick notes, If Only....
install gmd gesturecontrol to hide the status bar
You wont press any mini apps accidently then. Also when you press edit you double click on a mini app to add/remove it.
You can remove them, they annoyed me so I got rid by following the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1692173
Obviously make a back-up before deleting the suggested files if you feel you may want thm back at some point (not that I did )!

[APP][2.3.3+] WhatsApp Bomber

Hey all! I was bored, and decided to try my luck on a WHATSAPP BOMBER. It just sends the desired message the desired number of times to the same contact. I'm not sure where it works, but it does work on my GNex with AOKP and several other devices. I'm not to blame for any damage, malfunctions or whatever caused by the app. You do everything because you want to do it, not because i told you, and if you kill someone elses phone I'm not responsible either!
1. Download + unpack the zip.
2. Install the whatsapp-bomber-sign.apk
3. Open up the Bomber.
4. Enter your Message and the desired number of times the message shall be sent.
5. Check/Uncheck the Checkbox.
6. Click the upper Button.
7. Choose the Contact to bomb.
8a. Devices WITH recent apps-button: Hit the recent apps-button, select the Bomber again.
8b. Devices WITHOUT recent apps-button: Hit the HOME-button, open the Bomber again. (If it doesn't work try repeating steps 8-10 here.)
9. Hit the second button.
10. Wait.
11. ???
12. PROFIT
It's gonna take ~1 second between the messages to be sure everything works properly... if it works.
Please report your Device + ROM and whether it works or not so i can keep the list up to date.
Working on:
Samsung Galaxy Nexus GT-I9250 - AOKP Build 35
Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 - Stock
Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100
- Criskelo v9 ICS 4.0.3
- AOKP Hydrog3n
Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 - Stock 2.3.5
HTC Desire S - Stock 2.3.7
HTC Desire HD - IceColdSandwich
LG Optimus 2X P990 - CM9
Seems not to work on:
Motorola Atrix - MIUI V4 2.4.27

Don't forget the signed WhatsApp apk!
(or http://dl.dropbox.com/u/42337132/whatsappbomb.zip if the other link doesn't work. )
Hope you guys enjoy, and consider donating if you like it.

Tried WhatsFun before, but all it does is it packs the text a certain number of times in ONE message. My app's gonna send the same message a defined number of times.
Please report your Device + ROM and whether it works or not so i can create a list from that.

I just included the resigned whatsapp.apk to be sure WA isn't making problems.

I hardcoded the time between apps for now, it takes like 350 - 500ms for each message to send, and i set a thread.sleep to 1000ms to be sure every message is sent. if you wait less not every single message is sent, some are just skipped. could add a slider to adjust the time between the messages, that's true. I'll add it in a second, gotta get some docs on the slider, never used one b4.

Updated OP, there is a SeekBar to control the delay now. Goes from 500 to 1000ms, as i don't think a bomber makes sense when you wait more than a second between the messages. took me quite some figuring to get the textview to update on dragging the SeekBar thumb.

Need help finding a type of lockscreen app

I'm looking for a lockscreen app that allows access to specific apps on my phone without actually unlocking my phone. For example, i want friends to be able to pickup my phone and call someone, select a new song, use the internet browser, but not actually unlock my phone. I tried a few different lockscreen apps and they all allow for the lockscreen shortcuts to specific apps, but if your phone is locked, u must unlock it before using the shortcuts. Ideally, the app im looking for would still have the same shortcuts as in widgetlocker, but wouldnt require lock, provide limited access to only the shortcut app, and then have the standard unlock screen as well. anything like this already out there? or is it possible to create something like this? Thanks!
I'm on droid bionic, gingerbread, rooted.
Don't know if this helps, but when I was on CyanogenMod 7.2, I enabled lockscreen gestures (can't remember exact menu steps). You can set up gestures like switch music tracks, open specified app, unlock, etc. This lockscreen is built into the ROM, though. Worked for me.

When you launched apps was the rest of the phone still locked? Most apps that have launch capabilities from the lock screen seem to lack security. after opening an app you can just use the home screen button or back button to get to the main menu.

Again, this app doesn't actually keep the phone locked. When u go to camera from the lock screen nothing stops you from simply clicking the homescreen button to unlock the phone entirely.

Pie multitasking

Hey guys I was wondering about the Pie update specifically multitasking I've noticed that in pixel phones you get live apps in multitasking screen and I was really excited for this feature but I just got my oneplus oneplus 6 2 weeks ago and I and I was surprised that it wasn't implemented so does anyone have an idea why it was cut out or even if its coming later in an incremental update?
Thanks in advance loving the phone btw

Do you mean copying from multitasking? Indeed I can't make it work but it doesn't like a huge absolutely needed feature.
Or do you mean having suggested apps at the bottom? I've actually never seen this feature on any other videos. Maybe it was only in the previews but it wasn't kept in final Pie?

If you use the classic navigation buttons (back / home / recents), do you know that double tapping recents allows you to switch to the last app. I'm sure you'll find it as convenient if not more!

Copying text from recents is a Google Pixel exclusive, no other phone has it. The only way to get it on other devices is to install Lawnchair along with Lawnstep, where this feature is/will be available (they were planning to add it, not sure if that happened already though).
EDIT: Ooor just use a custom ROM supporting this feature, should there be one.
