Hello, my Motorola Xoom Wifi (USA) is running Jelly Bean Rooted and it totally sucks, because my battery usage consists of 50% Android OS and only 30% screen which is just insane.
I was wondering what I have to do to downgrade my xoom to ICS? Because then my xoom battery lasted for 5 days, now it takes 2 days.
Thank you
you got me on that one, battrey consist of 50%, you may have something running in the background that is killing the battrey life, it's not the OS, my xoom OS is 2% my screen is 83% because of my setting..
onece a month i will let my xoom battrey drain all the way intil it die then charge it....when i read about 5 days of battery life i know that the xoom don't do anything but sit there with just the power on and don't get any meanfull usage...

I don't see any issue here. Go for it
EDIT; as long as you don't mix FP1 rom and custom kernel (will have wifi issue).

Is that what you are using? I mean, that same combo?
Radio only works fine. I ran it a couple of days before I went full FP1. Like buhohitr said, the only issue is mixing FP1 rom with EP4 kernel. If you are running an FP1 rom with an EP4 kernel, you aren't going to have wifi.

I read that part about the wifi just concerned about the combination I would have after flashing the new modem.
I'm hoping to get better battery life with this set up...the eternal search for that unicornial dream
Fp1 ROM with custom kernel = broken Wifi
Fp1 ROM with Fp1 kernel = working Wifi
Modem wont affect any setup, just the kernel.

Update:
I ODIN the new CWR (blue one) and flashed the radio..interestingly it took longer that I anticipated, don't know why
Phone is rebooting and off to test it for a couple of days.
I will post my finding here tomorrow or as soon as I notice something interesting happening.
Thanks mates for all your help and support

"interestingly it took longer that I anticipated". It's normal, this zip has to update your current radio. Took awhile on mine too. If you wipe cache or davik cache, it even took longer, but you're fine.

So wifi does not work to access the network (as network client). Does it still work as an access point running wifi tethering (ad-hoc with ver 2.0.8 or structure with ver 3.1.11)?

Sorry missed your post. I have been testing the best three: Battery defender, battery saver and Go power master...and the best is....Battery defender. Make sure you have full charge(100%), then install Battery defender, use it until drop below 10%, plug in and charge straight up to 100% (do not unplug before 100%), do this 3 times and you will see the results. After the third time, you can charge/unplug anytime you want. The second best is battery saver.

Just wondering if there was a "best" way to make sure battery is calibrated after flashing a new ROM to ensure the best battery performance for that particular ROM. My procedure of late has been to just let the battery die then charge to full and wipe battery stats. Any suggestions or is this even a necessary or worthwhile step when switching ROMs?

hm.. if I switch to a new rom, i download the app "battery calibration" from the store and plug my phone into power.
if my battery is at 100% the app will give you a signal and delete the old battery history.
not sure if this take any effect, but I never get disadvantages by doing this.
you can find the app here:

hi i have the usual problem with my samsung galaxy S i9003: my battery drains extremely quickly. on the battery usage it shows that the display is what is draining my battry the most, but the problem is, it is on its lowest. i just don't know what to do, i wiped the battery stats, i downloaded lots of programs to save battery, i removed the google backup transport apk, i don't use wifi, 3g, gps, bluetooth, i don't play games, i really don't know what else to do.
so please, help me.
i bought the phone from another person, so it's been already used.
i'm on gingerbread DDLF2, i'm rooted and have already tried a few roms but had the same problem, if you know of good, stable, smooth and for daily use rom please let me know.
ps: my phone doesn't show real battery stats, what i mean is, when the phone is on 30% it just shuts off, and when i plug it and turn it on, it shows 0%. it has happened since the day i got it.
ps2: i don't know if this matters but, i soft-bricked my phone like two weeks ago trying to restore the stock rom from a remics rom, and flashed the stock rom to get it back.
the battery drain problem has been there since before but i just wanted to put it out there to see if it helps.

can you tell me for how many hours your battery lasts after fully charged.
battery usage also depends on cpu usage ( like if u have set your processor limits to high ) or may be because you have lots of apps running in the background. you can try installing watchdog application to trace whose eating up your battery

I experienced battery drain too on GB ROM. I guess that newer apps are using android functions that are not coded very efficiently on GB.
I was surprised that battery life got much better after flashin to 4.4 kitkat. If you want to give it a try, I definitely recommend trying out flashing your device and see whether battery life improves
yes.... can try out different rom or some other kernels too. and try changing processor to some battery friendly mode like " conservative " or tweak the default processor to save battery.
and try out greenify app if you are not using. @luligorla

my battery last for about three or four hours if not less. i'll try downloading that app, but anyway the problem here is that in battery usage in shows that display is what is spending the battery the most, when it is on its lowest, i just don't get it.

i'm rooted, indeed, but it seems i'm not finding that application or if i have to download one. i downloaded whatdog and the only alert i got was about the gallery using the cpu.
what i'm worried about is that the display is literally on 0%, isn't it weird?

I used the 1st preview and i really love it but i keep constant having worst battery life than kitkat...i know its a preview but i saw that the miscellaneus drain thread on google-report keep on comming and no answer from google..i really hope that they fix it even if they have a few days for the release....
So i play a little bit with Battery Historian on the 1st preview before going back to kitkat...with the proper knowlage its a great tool to help you see whats going on with your battery....I wrote some time ago with the help of @thomase00 that find the py file over at github..i manage to create a html file with battery stats even im not 100% sure that they are correct cause i dont have any knowlage over coding and commands...but i manage to create an html and after i saw 40% miscellaneous drain i create once more...i saw the same think as i saw over a week ago....im having audio drain exact the same time the phone is on battery...something is using the audio even if nothing is really using the audio on my phone..no notifications no phone calls( that have a different row on drains) but its keep running...so my thought is that maybe causing the miscellaneous drain...anyway heres that i found...any thoughts?
the miscellaneous battery drain isnt extra drain. in L(lollipop), android estimates how long your phone will last. most of the time, itll end up being off a bit. the miscellaneous battery drain is by how much its off. it doesnt know, hasnt been told, how to group this, so it goes under miscellaneous.

Not sure why you are concerning about preview version. You do have an option to roll back.
I too see the miscellaneous draining more than screen time but still, I make longer SOT than KitKat.
To me, miscellaneous is almost always equal to all other battery usage combined (SOT, android system, apps, and etc.) Maybe that's what it is???

Why not use beta? It's fine for me. Literally everyone say bad battery life after an update. Perhaps give it some time.
