After Asus repair my tablet, it would not perform OTA anymore. Try manually check update in System Firmware Update and it would not work either. I have to manually download from Asus site and update through micro SD. Is it possible the repair unlock my unit? How do I check if my tablet is unlocked or rooted?
Asus repair did OS recovery to my unit.
Unlocked devices show "Device is unlocked" in the upper left corner after turning on. And if your tablet was rooted, you'd know it.
The OTA problems are nothing new, looks like the Asus repairs departments do not update the database that controls who gets which OTA updates, and so they run out of sync when they swap mainboards or restore different firmware versions. If you are lucky, the database update is just delayed and it will work after a few days. Try contacting Asus support and demand that they finish the repair by updating the database.

I got my Xoom 2 unlocked from an electronics store rather than a carrier, so I'm not sure where I need to get the ICS update from. Whenever I check for system updates it just says "checking for available updates, please wait" indefinitely. It doesn't say there isn't an update but won't find one either.
System version
0.268.4.MZ616.Telstra.en.AU
Firmware
GAS_ASIA_TABLET1PASTUAUTEL_P021
The bootloader is still locked but I did root it, would that be the problem?
OK, after having waited and waited (and then waited some more) for an official update to my GT-6800, it's still running Honeycomb and all attempts to upgrade either directly from Tab or via Kies result in either "no update available" or ""Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via Kies" - it's time to risk the brick bug and do a manual upgrade.
This raises a few questions:
- What's the best method to update - 'Mobile ODIN' or is there a better way?
- Should I go to ICS 4.0.4 first and then update to 4.1.2 or can I go direct?
- My Tab has been confirmed as vulnerable to the brick bug - what measures can I take to minimise risk?
- And why the hell have I not got an official OTA or Kies update after a year of it being available? My tab reports firmware of:
PDA:LA2 / PHONE:LA1 / CSC:LA2 (XSG)
.. do I have some sort of weird development version that isn't supported for official upgrade or something? AFAIK the Tab was untouched before I got it and unrooted (it was advertised as 'brand new' and certainly seemed so when I unboxed it so I doubt someone has been on there and rooted it, plus I did a root check and it ain't showing as rooted). It was bought via eBay from a UK supplier but is definitely a grey import as it came with a two-prong European type power adaptor and not the 3-pin UK plug.

First... KIES and the OTA upgrade system both suck. However, it's not their fault in this case: your XSG tab has the latest firmware available for that country code (XSG means your tab is from the UAE).
But save yourself from the trouble anyway. You're under HC, so the brickbug-trigger isn't set on your kernel. This means you can consider yourself safe. AFAIK JB is also brickbug-safe, so going straight from HC to JB is probably your best bet. If you do it like that, your tab will never be running under a kernel that does the secure erase that triggers the bug.
If you're not rooted and you don't intent to, just use Odin (PC Odin, not the Mobile Odin). That will factory reset your tablet, which is probably the best for stability.
Can anyone help me? I have an ASUS Zenfone 6, I checked my device settings and everything from the 'about' menu at settings and it says I have a 1.16 WW firmware. When I downloaded the newest 1.18 WW firmware from support.asus.com and tried to flash it says:
Device image SKU: CUCC
OTA image SKU: WW
And the update fails
I am honestly confused to what's going on here. I thought I have WW with gapps and everything working but suddenly when I try to update I have CUCC? Oh and what's weird is that when I just got the phone SuperSU was synced from my previous phone and I just wanted to check out what happens if I open SuperSU without rooting but when SuperSU opened it asks me whether I want to update the binary normally or from CWM/TWRP! This mind you only happens if you had rooted the phone and ran SuperSU for the first time, surprisingly according to root checker I have root! JUST BY INSTALLING SUPERSU! So I was wondering if my phone was tampered before I bought it? I legally bought it new from a nearby mall with it still complete with the packaging and warranty card, so I'm really confused to what is going on.
Can anyone please please help me, do anyone else who has the WW firmware has anything like this happen when you want to flash the firmware update? I tried to force the firmware update using fastboot, nothing changed, but now my phone won't detect my SD Card and every time I open settings the phone would restart. The only way I can think of to fix this is by flashing a fresh ROM but so far I cannot find a link that has Zenfone 6 stock ROM, only the firmware. I've thought of returning the phone with the reason that I got tricked into buying a CUCC Zenfone instead of the WW that is sold on my region.
Note: I bought the phone in Indonesia and basically there are 2 warranty. One from the official ASUS and another from 'distributor', because the distributor is cheaper I bought that one thinking I'm only having a different warranty and a lack of support from ASUS officials but is it possible this distributor actually sell a modified CUCC SKU that is changed to WW? I've seen some articles/video to switch from TW/CN to WW and it kind of raised my suspicion.
Hi all,
I have Asus Memo Pad 10 (ME102a) currently with Android 4.2.2 with kernal version ww_3.11.0.99#1
problem
My tablet was working fine up to last week. I had for some reason delayed updating the system update available from Asus. Recently I went ahead with the system updates and now I am stuck with my wifi not connecting.
My wifi currently scans and detects wifi. When I try to connect to open or secured wifi the signal strength drops and the wifi is not able to connect. I have tried it with different routers as well as tried using static IP. I have tired restarting, factory wipe but no go.
Asus Customer Support
They have told me it is a software issue and i would have to wait for the next update. Asus doesn't know when the next update is coming. They said I would have to sent it to them to downgrade it. The tablet was purchased in the USA and I am currently overseas and trying to get this issue resolved.
So far I have done the following
I have rooted my tablet and have super user access.
I have installed CWM recovery
I have found the original kernal file from Asus UL-K00F-WW-3.9.0.82-user
I can't do the following
I tried installing the original kernal file UL-K00F-WW-3.9.0.82-user but the installation keeps on getting aborted. (I think the loader doesn't allow it install) ---- Do I need to unlock the bootloader if so how??? I have tried to unlock the bootloader but I haven't been able to.
If someone knows any other way to fix this issue please share.
Thanks to all in advance
I recently bought a ROG Phone 5s here in Japan, and it came on the WW-18.1220.2111.164 firmware.
I got into a bootloop trying to mount as readwrite, and the problem got worse until I was at a seeming brick with black screen. But I saved my phone using johhny886's guide here.
Upon flashing the firmware he provided, my phone is now back to normal but on WW-18.1220.2109.126.
System update checks and says "Your system is up-to-date." I tried a factory reset and interestingly it keeps me on WW-18.1220.2109.126.
WW-18.1220.2111.164 is downloadable from ASUS's website here and it comes in a zip file. How do I manually install this? Or can I?
There is also a newer WW-18.1220.2112.175, but it says "This firmware is only for ROG Phone 5S/5S Pro ID version". I thought about going to this newest version but that message scares me since I don't know what ID is here. WW-18.1220.2111.164 listed as "WW-18.1220.2111.164 for WW/EU/TW/JP version only." Device's country is listed as JP so I figured it's safer to go back to this.
Place that zip file you have downloaded in your phone internal storage (not inside any folders). Once you have placed it in the root of your internal storage just restart your phone. After restart unlock your phone and it will automatically detect that update file within a minute and ask you to update.
The ID version is Indonesian version. So choose JP version for you always.
I just did that and successfully updated as you posted. Somehow as soon as I go to post online I figure stuff out lol.
Thank you for the assistance, I was afraid and wanted to be careful.
