dear all,
is there any recovery menu on photon q? I mean is our photon q already "loaded" with recovery menu? or we have to install cwm or twrp first..
if there is original recovery menu, how to enter it?
anyhelp appreciated..

thanks bro..but it only last about 2 seconds, when it enter recovery mode, I would like to press the vol.down, phone got reboot by itself..any idea?

Power + Vol Down shuts the phone off (as we don't have an accessible battery...)
Power + Vol Up enters recovery. I usually do this when the device is off - hold power + vol up until it turns on, then release power until you see reco. You probably don't *have* to hold vol up until you see reco, but I always do.
Actually if you hold power and vol down it takes a screenshot here is the proof lol

If you hold it long enough, it will force shut off the device. I've had to do this when booting ROM's that don't finish booting....

Yes, this is the stock recovery. This is NOT CWM, and you probably won't be able to do much (if anything). I believe it'll just look for an update.zip on your SD card. I don't think there's any menus/options within the stock recovery.
Again, I blew away the stock recovery as soon as I got the device.

Not sure if you ever got this figured out, but if you still can't get into fastboot my guess is your adb isn't installed correctly on your computer or there's something wrong with your usb cable. Assuming once you're in fastboot mode you have everything on your machine set to flash without issue, here are your steps
Code:
power + vol down ... until device reboots
immediately once your boot logo shows power + camera button
-- this will bring up a menu --
vol down to navigate, vol up to select
I believe fastboot is your 3rd or 4th option down. There are only 5 choices in that menu though, it's pretty straightforward. From there you should be able to flash, again, assuming your fastboot is installed correctly.

If you can get to the SAMSUNG logo you can get to download mode, are you sure you're doing it right?
Make sure you are holding the volume buttons as you plug it in and out the battery back in. Also, try a different usb cable or a different usb port on the computer. Sometimes that's all it is. I thought mine was broken bc I couldn't get download mode and then couldn't get the computer to read it but really all I had to do was hold the volume buttons and switch to a different usb port.

If it can go to recovery, i am sure it can go to download mode also. Try again. Sometimes it doesn't work. Remove the battery and reinsert it and try again. Don't panic just yet.
Press and Hold Volume down. Keep Holding. At the same time press and hold Home (hardware) key. KEEP HOLDING BOTH. And then press and hold the power key. HOLD ON TO ALL THREE. Does it go to download mode?

I heard some people have broken power button where the power button is always in the "enabled" state, and that will cause volume buttons to not work. I wonder if you have the same issue though, if thats the case you will have to either replace the power button or send it to Samsung.
I don't have the Nexus S right now, but have to tried the command: adb reboot recovery. Also I thought you can boot directly into recovery by power + volume up.
If your power button is broken you are stuck there on that screen.
Does the phone boot up into the os? If so reboot into recovery from the os. If you flashed a ROM I assume its rooted. Can use any app that allows booting into recovery ( quickboot goomanger ROM manager ROM toolbox etc) or in terminal type such and hit enter. Then type reboot recovery and hit enter.

the problem is the i did a flash a rom and now the rom dont boot up or anything and i did a back up but i cant use the buttons to make a selection to get into recovery over the fast boot as i show in the picture!
the only way i get into the fastboot is holding the volume up and connect the usb into the port and them get into the fast boot screen but no more from there
That's what I figured. At that point you are pretty much screwed,
You need to get the power button to work / unstick so you can fastboot in order to do anything.

Samsung can fix it if you send it. The solution is to get your power button repaired. There's nothing else to really do.

Unless they got the part, then it's a no. Every so said "solution" ends up failing, you're just pushing a bit the date. Only replacing it really works.
i have temp fix
this is what i did may be you can fix it like this
i take off the battery out,
place back
Hold down volume and power
now connect the usb cable from the pc
keep holding the buttons we dont need to go into bootloader, if you can see the lower lights on you okay
now check the usb icon in your computer and if your computer recognize you are cool
Now before i have this problem i did a back up of my rom and i install touch recovery
now you have to see your options and if you have the twr recovery even better since you can transfer files over your phone while in recovery mod
okay i did install this toolkit
Wug's Nexus Root Toolkit v1.5.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766475
and since my computer recognize the usb and my nexus phone
i did get into reboot recovery mode in the advanced utilities you can figure out the rest since i dont know much!
since i did a back up i just restored and i did flash another rom which let you wake up the phone by the volume key
so i transfer the rom files and flash then while on recovery mode try installing the goomanager to get into recovery since this means your power button dont work
this is the rom
CyberGR-MOD|NS.NGN ver. 14 Hybrid Mix ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425344
if you have luck flashing this rom
just go into CyberGR-MOD in the setting section and select lockscreen options and check volume wake
now to lock the phone just install any app from play store like Lock Screen Widget
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidmania.lockscreenwidget
and remember if you battery dies, just connect it into charger or usb cord and the phone ll boot again
Hope this help some of you who have this problem
thanks and any question i ll check later!

Looks like your new here. Just a heads up you need to post questions in the Q & A forum.
To get into the boot loader this is how I do it.
Turn off the phone
Hold down Volume -
Hold down power for 5 secs then release while continuing to hold volume -
Then keep pressing power over and over until the bootloader pops up and stop.
It sounds weird but it works every time for me.

Why do you have a Ville XC? Was it shipped S-OFF?
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
make sure your phone is off, not hibernating (neat HTC feature)
to completely turn off your HTC, hold the powerbutton alone for some seconds until your home/menu/.. buttons start to blink, when they stop blinking, your device is off, you can let go the power button.
now hold power and vol down to enter bootloader.
other option
if you have htc booting into android, enable USB debugging, download ADB-tools, and enter "adb reboot bootloader" or "adb reboot recovery"
good luck
or remove the battery, ah, bummer we can't, we have a One S
Ok is it just me or is there no one on this site that can help me? I have asked my question and ZERO replies. I have a MT4GS doubleshot i have rooted it and installed a custom recovery clockworkmod 5.0.2.7
I CANNOT access my bootloader. When I power down and hold volume + and - plus power to boot into recovery all i get is a frozen purple screen.
I can however boot into android recovery no problem. I would like to install custom roms and play with my phone. Is there anyone else out there that can help me??? I have searched google and this site the only thing i can find is bits and pieces of info and after i compile all this fragmented data it DOES NOT HELP AND GIVES ZERO USEFUL INFO. If someone could please write a tutorial on how to properly step by step accomplis this task I would be greatful. Thanks
Holding volume down while powering on should get you to bootloader
Same thing with
adb reboot bootloader
Not sure how youre able to power on straight to recovery though, didn't know it was possible

No holding volume down and power does not get me into bootloader it just hangs at the splash screen. and yes depending on ur model holding power plus volume up should get u into recovery mode. However I cannot access my boot loader abd reoot boot loader boots me into a hung purple screen.
There is only one model of the doubleshot, and to my knowledge there is no key combo to boot directly to recovery on this phone. Can you do a couple things for me
Take a picture of this purple screen and upload it
Take a screenshot of your about phone under settings
Copy input/output from terminal/cmd when you enter
