I have an Inspire that is rooted, and after 5 different Roms for1 day each, I have settled into the revolution ROM and it really works great.I have my unlimited plan4G (most of the time I think)and I have my tendering. My question is when running the "sweetest.com" application I get 331 down and 783 up inthe evening and 2592 down and 1447 up in the morning until about noon,is this network congestion? Is there a different radio mod or flash or something that software locks the radio in HSUDA mode or whatever is making it that fast?? If anyone knows of a setting or .apk that addresses this or a setting possibly I would appreciate it,or an explanation if its not a tweakable thing might save hours of obsessing over trying to fix it.Thanks, Vegas

Yeah, the slow speeds at times are due to all the iphones tying up the network.

Funny, but I notice my speeds do the same. But most of the time it's relatively good.
I definitely think this is network congestion. My best speeds are late at night (usually about 2.5 down/1.5 up). Most of the time my upload stays about the same (between 900k and 1.5mb), but my download goes anywhere from 400k to 2.5mb..or lower
So 2.5 down is the fastest I can expect and the radio with the Revolution ROM is the Best one I could be using? I have heard 4G was capable of 6mbps,No..Anyone?? Is it gonna get better in phases, anyone know the truth?Vegas
I rooted my HTC inspire (with Coredroid) yesterday and i've been having slow upload and download speed since then. prior to rooting, I had upload speed above 1000 but the max i get now is 350. and my download speed was up to 3000 before rooting and now i barely get 1.5K
When you rooted did you restore the stock radio? I'm going to guess you're still using the downgrade radio.
Or is the ril matched to that radio?

I didn't do anything with radio.. I rooted it using the one click method and downloaded coredroid.. so Coredroid doesn't come with an updated radio?. What do you recommened?

In some markets, many of the custom ROMs have slow data speeds unless you do a few tweaks. A simple APN reconfig (found in my thread here) is usually all that's needed to get you back up to stock speeds. If you want to push up your speeds a little further, the methods in this thread will get you the absolute maximum current speeds that AT&T is allowing us.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=976274&highlight=Poor+data+speeds+after+radio+flas <--- the answer to your problems.
thanks!..i followed the instruction for coredroid in your thread. but i saw no change in my speed.
Anyone else experiencing a hot backside of their tb on the new radio. Im even running battery saver mode, undervolted and no overclock.

no but im not a fan of this new radio.
I agree the radio is great. Just im cooking eggs with my tb.

i have been experiencing the same thing... big time !
regardless of what rom i use, sense/de-sense or aosp, the phone gets really hot after awhile. i've had a few instances where it got so hot that it froze the phone and i had to yank the battery and let it cool down.
for the hell of it, tried going back to an older radio and the problem went away.
damn.. did have a tad bit better battery on the new radio as well as a very slight improvement in reception... but considering the consequences of the new radio, it's better just to stick to an older one for now.
Was this only happening when using a 3G/4G connection or all the time? I haven't experienced that but I only switched to the new radio a few days ago and haven't done any long term mobile data usage with it yet. I do seem to pick up 4G at my work quicker and in places in the building where I couldn't before.

I thought I was the only one experiencing this. When I use it too much it gets like this. Or when I play madden 12 it gets that way too

I know i read if you undervolt it too much it can cause a phone to run hot if done incorrectly. Causes phone to work harder since it needs more power.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Refering to a couple of the posts above, i am in a 3G only area but i do heavy usage(web, movies) so the phone will be on for a few hours at a time.
As for "undervolting", i use DreamKernal + SetCPU and just overclock to like 1222. I also have a profile set so when the screen is off it is set to max out at 368.
Oh, and for the heck of it tried that VZW thing with pulling the battery to reset location and.it didnt help with the heat either.
On a positive note, at least if your hands are cold(or other body part), then hey!
i think the kernels have alot to do with the heat as well. i doubt the leaked 802 radio will harm anyone's phone. i will admit its a very wonky radio for me. ive just recently combined the cdma 627 radio and the lte 802 radio and all is well. i went 23hrs on a stock battery with lte on all the time. im running cm7+kangbang kernel.

I've been running the latest leak (2.11) rooted, along with the latest radios, for about a week now, and haven't noticed the back getting any hotter than it did before. I'll have to pay more attention and see.
Yes a noob to Android and yes, first post
Before my quick question I have to say thank you to M0D1441 for this ROM (and his contributors - it is absolutely amazing, and by far - the best ROM out there for Galaxy Skyrocket I727 users.
Flashed this Rom from stock I727R Rom last week and have had huge success with it and cannot wait for the update to this Beta 7.
However, since flashing the UCLD2 radio I notice significant slower speeds compared to whatever the stock was using. I have followed all procedures correctly, am able to auto switchover from LTE and HSPA+ and have had no issues with this ROM that anyone else has reported other than significantly slower speeds.
Max down on HSPA+ has been between 5 - 7 Mbs with upload at 0.2-0.56 Mbs and LTE down: 16-22Mbs (which is not bad) but have full bars and 2.78 up.
Even my home WiFi (802.11n) connection suffers from this new radio with dowload @ 18Mbs and up @ 0.56 compared to stock ROM speeds at least 38.6Mbs down and 3.7Mbs up.
My speeds with all connections with stock radio were, at bare minimum, double to what I am getting now.
I have flashed the UCLD2 radio a few times following procedures and still no change in speeds. I have read nightmare stories about switching back to older radios on the I727R and am nervous to do so.
Wondering if other Rogers users have experienced the same issue and if need be, what radio change to?
What was stock radio on Rogers I727R and is it compatible with the NexusMod ICS Zero Beta 7?
Is/can this UCLD2 radio be not fully compatible for Rogers customers in Canada?
Thanks a million in advance!
I'm on att and I haven't noticed a drop in speed I know its not Rodgers but I can't imagine its all that different

Keep in mind the modem is for AT&T, so not surprised you're seeing slower speeds on Rogers. Also, the modem, a.k.a. Radio has no affect on Wifi as Wifi is part of the kernel.
Bottom line, your experience is more than likely going to be a "best effort" at best; think of it like trying to install a Ford part on your Chevy car.

Thanks for your input. Yes, I figured this radio may only indeed be for AT&T but it is such a great modem/radio. My battery life is far superior with the UCDL2 as opposed to the stock KJ7 radio. Guess it's a toss between speed or bat life
As for WiFi, I realize this radio should have no effect on it but it is definitely slower with the UCLD2 modem. Strange - I will have to try and get this under the microscope and see how/if/what is effecting it.
This may be a dumb question (sorry) but can you use the stock radio with any ICS ROM or is that just going to cause nightmare issues?

Wow. Really? That's what I figured would happen for me but... not happening. The only thing I did not do was install busybox but I can't imagine that would make any difference to the radio.
I just want to make sure i am not damaging my phone by using this modem. maybe it just needs some settling time but it has been almost a week.
What kind of speeds are you getting?

I totally hear ya. However, I have noticed something interesting which completely makes sense. After having the modem settle for a week now I have noticed that my daytime speeds on HSPA+ are slower compared to daytime. Now, Daytime on average is 9.51Mbs down and 1.27Mbs up (which is actually not bad) compared to night (after 9pm) getting an average 13.72Mbs down and 2.73Mbs up. I can't really complain as this seems the norm for GTA on Rogers.
LTE daytime speeds have now been an average of 23.7Mbs down and 3.78Mbs up compared to night time speeds of 31.2Mps down and 5.71up. And, this is on the outskirts of LTE in the East end!
However, my Wi-Fi speeds still suffer. My LTE speeds are far exceeding anything I get through my 802.11n router which maybe something in the Kernel which I will check out.
So really, I can no longer complain Guess it just took some time to settle in the device.
As for the Rogers ICS, according to this article: http://www.androidcentral.com/samsung-reveals-us-ice-cream-sandwich-update-list , " The big picture is that if you've got a Galaxy Tab or Galaxy S II-class phone, chances are you're in line for an ICS update later in the year."
Ouch! Yet no announcement has been officially been made for North America. And, don't forget Rogers will need to test and ram it full of their bloatware before we see it!

Try LeeC's UCLA3 modem ported for ICS. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1567213
It says UCAL4, but it is 3. I found UCLD to be unreliable, and LeeC's fix is wonderful.
Good luck !
Thanks. I am going to give that one a try and see how it performs this weekend. Thanks for the link!
I know my area supports HSPA 21.
In Phone status, when not using data it should read HSPA 10. When you start actively using data, ex. during a speed test, it should bump up to HSPA 15+. Mine isn't doing it. I've tried with Jellybam, Dark Jelly S 10.1 Build 8.1, unofficial AOKP, and BB 7, with the 1.11 and 1.08 radios.
Can anyone else try it out and post their results with Rom, radio, location, and average speeds (not necessarily from current speed test, but maybe an aggregate of your normal speed tests since it can be so temporally different).

On Sense it shows Hspa (non active) then Hspap (while data is active). It is working correctly on Viper 2.0. My first time trying that ROM today. I have the wifi authentication problem. Resetting router didn't work, and looking into it I don't really want to downgrade Hboot as I prefer AOKP anyway.
What is it showing for you on AOKP/CM roms? Are you getting HSPA 15?

The speed can suck just due to network congestion but at least it's trying to fire up hspap from hspa. Mine is doing the same thing on Sense.
I'm trying to figure out if it's just a visual bug on AOSP roms or if it genuinely isn't firing up hspa 15+

My speeds can vary greatly depending on the time of day. In evenings I drop to 700kb/s while midafternoon sits around 4-5mb/s. I have peaked to 9mb/s on the stock rom with the 1.11 radio. My first rom was JellyBam 4.1. I think I remember getting hspa+15 status, but I'm not 100% sure. Since I've tried $droyd$ unofficial aokp, bb7, DarkJelly 8.1. It's never visually showing hspa 15+. I think my speeds are the same, but that's just personal observation.
