[Q] HELP - HTC Desire S

Hi everyone,
I tried to flash the latest MIUI rom (2.10.12) for my phone, so i booted into recovery and wiped cache+data
I chose the install from zip and just chose my zip
I get:
-- Installing: /sdcard/miuiandroid_saga-2.10.12.zip
Finding update package...
Installing update package...
Formating system...
do not format system
Installing system files...
Creating system links...
Set permission...
Update Boot image...
Install from sdcard complete
But when I reboot, my phone shows the T-Mobile logo and then it just doesnt do anything... I have waited more than 30 minutes, and even flashed the Gappspackage hoping that would fix it but nothing works.
Any idea how to fix this?

HCTDev unlocked? Flashed boot.img? Right hBoot?

I unlocked my phone with revolutionay, HBOOT version 6.98.1002
I just searched the .zip and installed it via clockworkwod if that's what you meant with the boot.img

You'll have to upgrade your hboot to 7.00, miui now uses the system/lib partition.
Sent from my Desire S using xda app-developers app

Okay going to update hboot now

upgraded hboot, wiped all it works now.
TNX guys, you're awesome

frozen on Google logo, error mounting system!

My phone (GT-I9020T) was not rooted or unlocked and was running on stock 2.3.4
after some app updates, it got frozen on Google logo
I flashed a stock rom using odin and the process was successfully completed but it didn't work
I wiped all data and cache many times.
I unlocked the bootloader and flashed CWM 3.0.2.4
When trying to flash a rom from CWM (without rooting), it stops and says "E: couldn't open rom.zip (bad) installation aborted."
When I try to mount /system, it says "error mounting /system!"
and that happens to data as well
I don't wish to root the phone so it won't be easily brickable as I'm not an expert in this, but I'll try to root it if you guys say that I have to
Please help
Try to re-download the ROM package (I'd suggest the OTA for your model.) It looks like the package was not downloaded properly.
Flashing a ROM doesn't require root anyway.

even mounting it and formatting it through my computer didn't work

You have to wipe system in mount and storage and cache and dalvik cache and battery in advanced. If this will not solve your problem try to re download the rom.
Sent from my LG - P500 running ParanoidAndroid {*_*}
Make sure you're using a pre-flash wipe for your phone. I prefer http://db.tt/daJpOjDa (it's a download, it formats system, data, cache).
thanks for all the answer..
i got it fix but that's not the wipe problem, or the ROM downloading problem
i think it's bcoz i'm using the old version of custom recovery (Ra-thunderg 1.0 <-- forgot the version)
i am trying to upgrade it to the AmonRa 3.6 but ican't flash the AmonRa 3.6.zip (i think it's bcoz the Ra-Thunderg 1.0 is not capable or compatible for flashing it), some verification error.
so i tried to flash CWM 5.2? <-- forgot the version (another recovery) and it's work..
coz i am not used to use this app than i change it to AmonRa 3.6, and once again it's work...
so after i upgrade the custom recovery, i could flash that ROM.
thank you.

Cannot install any ROM, phone hangs on Google screen

Hey guys,
I am in desperate need of help. I am a semi-noob for these things and I shouldn't have been doing it in the first place... 2 days ago, I received a notification that a system update was available (4.1.2), but when I pressed Install, nothing happened (I am running the stock 4.1.1 rom on my Nexus S i9023 on a custom kernel, but i dont remember which one it was ). So, I came to the forum and found the link for the 4.1.2 factory rom on google's developers website and placed in on my sd card. I restarted the phone in cwm, went Apply update from .zip file > choose > found the file, pressed apply and got:
ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.0.2
-- Installing: /sdcard/Download/image-soju-jzo54k.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
Also tried with the 15MB update 4.1.1 to 4.1.2, got the same error.
So, after troubleshooting here on the forum, I read somewhere that ti might be the custom kernel that does the problem. I totally forgot that Jellybean was the latest Android name, so I downloaded and flashed a stock ICS kernel, which installed normally but when I restarted the phone, it now hangs on the Google screen, not even getting to the jellybean logo. I've lost 4 hours now digging around forums and cannot get it to work, Im frustrated to the point of tears...... Any help would be very appreciated. Will provide you with any info you might need.
Thanks
Wrong section, should be in Q&A.
Quick and dirty:
Wipe data/factory reset, should boot.
But if you don't want to wipe data, you could probably transfer stock Jellybean in CWM (from Mounts and USB Storage) and flash it, chances are it will boot properly without having to erase your stuff.

Then re-install your ROM. You can transfer anything to your memory from within CWM. Simply go to Mounts and Storage, then Mount USB Storage and connect your phone to your computer. A drive will popup and you can transfer anything to it, including a ROM. So transfer the stock JB rom (or any other ROM, make sure you get the good one that is comptible with your phone) and then flash it.

[Q] E:Can't open /sdcard... (bad)

Hello people, I know there are already threads about this but I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong..
I was running cyanogenmod on my device when suddenly everything started to force close so I decided to try out another rom, Miui.
I have done this flashing of roms before already which went all well, so I decided it would be a good idea to forget to make a backup :silly:
and this is what I did:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
and then I tried to flash Miui, but it says:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/miui.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
what I tried to solve:
Redownloading the zip in different browsers.
Trying different recovery (first try was in CWM, then I tried TWRP)
Tried flashing from a different SD card
Tried reformating SD card
I also tried to flash different roms, but everything that I try to flash gives the same error, so I think there is a problem with my phone and not with the zip which I try to flash.
Also something went wrong while trying to solve the problem and now I dont have any OS installed on my phone so I can only use recovery and a PC to solve this problem.
Can you guys please help me?
I have been searching for a solution on the internet for a whole day now and I have still not found a solution!

I already tried using another sdcard
what do you mean with downloading a new zip pack?
I did try to redownload the rom though.
when I get back from school I will try the twrp recovery thingy, I hope it works!!
Try flashing garuda kernel first in my signature there is a link for it, after that try with some rom, I doubt that this will work but.... that's the best I can think of now. Changing recovery is maybe your best bet. Also try with some other rom, who knows.

I now use twrp recovery,
when I pressed the button 'power off' in twrp it said:
Install Superuser
your device does not appear to be rooted
blah blah
so somehow my phone is de-rooted
I'm going to install superuser and then try to instal a rom, I will post what happened.
wish me luck
okay now ive insalled superuser again, I tried different zips the first 2 it was complaining something about md5 but the third one installed fine(my first succes since a long time )
this means my phone is rooted again right? becauses twrp does not say it is not.
but I still cant install a rom though, but i haven't tried installing the kernel you mentioned, is this the right link for the download?
github.com/digitalcode
EDIT:
I couldn't find a good download for garuda kernel so I downloaded cranium kernel which installed fine!
but I can still not install a rom, I try to instal miui v4 revised, if that doesn't work i try to instal the stock west european rom, and if that doesn't work I try to install cm10, but nothing works all the same (bad) error!
help me, do I really need garuda kernel? if so can you please give me a download link to the zip?
EDIT 2:
Maybe if I use another PC to copy the zips to the SD, will that work?
I'm gonna try, I'm now open to try everything that comes to my mind, I really want my phone to be working again!!

if flashing sense or jaggy rom create ext partition
good luck mate
i wish this will work for u
SUCCES!!
I FINALLY GOT MY PHONE BACK!!!
I think the problem actually was with the copying of the file from my pc to the phone, what I normally did was : take out the sd card, put it in a reader and then copy the files to the sd.
Now I connected my phone while in twrp to my pc with a wire and then copied the zip file to the phone !!!
its such a simple solution but so hard to find!!
my phone is booting right now I hope it works!
it takes a long time, probably building the dalvik cache..
fingers crossed
All right! My phone is working again now! I'm going to install a mount 2 SD script and then i'mdone for a while with all this stuff! Thank you all who helped me!

[TWRP] Failed to mount data / Can't factory reset / Can't flash anything

Hi,
I recently wanted to install a stock rom but for that I have to factory reset my device but I get "E: failed to mount/data" for anything I want to do.
Therefore I can't do backups, change /data file system, wipe data or flash anything.
It seems like my /data partition is corrupted but I can still access the current OS (lineage 13) and use it.
I'm using TWRP 3.1.0-0.
Any help ?
I dont think I can flash any ROM by now but I'll give it a try. I will give a feedback soon.
EDIT : I have to flash it with TWRP or use dload method?
I've already tried to flash a stock recovery but it didn't ask me to flash via the sdcard... Maybe I'm using the wrong stock recovery (BLN-L21_B130 from a xda thread) ?
I'm going to try with TWRP nethertheless.
I successfully flashed a stock Marshmallow ROM with TWRP but right after booting I cant accept terms of service..
I wiped cache, did a factory reset and got through this step. I think everything is fine now ! Thanks a lot
Hey again,
I tried to update the firmware to EMUI 5.0 using Firmware Finder but it seems like I can only download the .zip (there is no "Send to Firmware Updater" button).
Do you have any clue on how I should proceed to get to Nougat ?
Thanks again
Oops, looks like I was doing it the wrong way ! But it's fine now and the update is currently downloading
Thanks!
