[Q] E:Can't open /sdcard... (bad) - HTC Pico (Explorer)

Hello people, I know there are already threads about this but I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong..
I was running cyanogenmod on my device when suddenly everything started to force close so I decided to try out another rom, Miui.
I have done this flashing of roms before already which went all well, so I decided it would be a good idea to forget to make a backup :silly:
and this is what I did:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
and then I tried to flash Miui, but it says:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/miui.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
what I tried to solve:
Redownloading the zip in different browsers.
Trying different recovery (first try was in CWM, then I tried TWRP)
Tried flashing from a different SD card
Tried reformating SD card
I also tried to flash different roms, but everything that I try to flash gives the same error, so I think there is a problem with my phone and not with the zip which I try to flash.
Also something went wrong while trying to solve the problem and now I dont have any OS installed on my phone so I can only use recovery and a PC to solve this problem.
Can you guys please help me?
I have been searching for a solution on the internet for a whole day now and I have still not found a solution!

I already tried using another sdcard
what do you mean with downloading a new zip pack?
I did try to redownload the rom though.
when I get back from school I will try the twrp recovery thingy, I hope it works!!

Try flashing garuda kernel first in my signature there is a link for it, after that try with some rom, I doubt that this will work but.... that's the best I can think of now. Changing recovery is maybe your best bet. Also try with some other rom, who knows.

i hope so
and check if your pc haven't have shortcut virus

I now use twrp recovery,
when I pressed the button 'power off' in twrp it said:
Install Superuser
your device does not appear to be rooted
blah blah
so somehow my phone is de-rooted
I'm going to install superuser and then try to instal a rom, I will post what happened.
wish me luck

okay now ive insalled superuser again, I tried different zips the first 2 it was complaining something about md5 but the third one installed fine(my first succes since a long time )
this means my phone is rooted again right? becauses twrp does not say it is not.
but I still cant install a rom though, but i haven't tried installing the kernel you mentioned, is this the right link for the download?
github.com/digitalcode
EDIT:
I couldn't find a good download for garuda kernel so I downloaded cranium kernel which installed fine!
but I can still not install a rom, I try to instal miui v4 revised, if that doesn't work i try to instal the stock west european rom, and if that doesn't work I try to install cm10, but nothing works all the same (bad) error!
help me, do I really need garuda kernel? if so can you please give me a download link to the zip?
EDIT 2:
Maybe if I use another PC to copy the zips to the SD, will that work?
I'm gonna try, I'm now open to try everything that comes to my mind, I really want my phone to be working again!!

to skip thre md5 check on flashing rom
in twrp recovery go to settings and uncheck force md5 verification of zip file
and try to flash rom
if any error you get post it
if works hit thanks
ps:do not flash superuser before flashing rom
and do a clean installation, wipe everything and then flashing
if flashing sense or jaggy rom create ext partition
good luck mate
i wish this will work for u

SUCCES!!
I FINALLY GOT MY PHONE BACK!!!
I think the problem actually was with the copying of the file from my pc to the phone, what I normally did was : take out the sd card, put it in a reader and then copy the files to the sd.
Now I connected my phone while in twrp to my pc with a wire and then copied the zip file to the phone !!!
its such a simple solution but so hard to find!!
my phone is booting right now I hope it works!
it takes a long time, probably building the dalvik cache..
fingers crossed

All right! My phone is working again now! I'm going to install a mount 2 SD script and then i'mdone for a while with all this stuff! Thank you all who helped me!

Need help loading rom eclair?

hello, I'm Spanish so excuse my bad English.
I'm trying to load some rom eclair and no I finished the installation,
error busybox sys,
and all abortions.
I checked the integrity of the downloaded rom.
I have recovery: 1.6.2g. that screenshot is old
here a screenshot of the error:
The following observations were made by me :
1: Wrong Forum
2: Minimal information provided by Original Poster
To assist you i need more information such as your radio/spl and what rom it is you are trying to flash.
Since english isnt your native language, guys dont flame the guy plz.
apology for the location on forum
spl: original htc g1
rom: SuperEclair v8.2 (htcmania) and SuperEclair v3.0 (xda-developers)
Ok i would re-download the rom just to be sure no corruption has occured.
Then i would do a phone wipe.
Then i would backup my information on my sdcard and create an ext partition
Then i would flash this rom.

room tested with sha1, correct code, downloaded two times
wipe: all, the five wipe.
sd: partitioned into ext3, swap, fat32 (without deleting content for:fat32 loading rom)
I found this on their thread. Try it
+ boot into recovery
+ Wipe everything (data, dalvik, ext, batt stats, rotation)
+ partition sd (96/128 swap, 512/1024/whatever you want, rest fat)
+ repair ext
+ ext2 to ext 3
+ ext 3 to ext4
+ Put rom sd (toggle MS)
+ wipe data and dalvik again
+ flash zip from sd
+ reboot system

question:
repairing ext. that achievement? returns since ext3 to ext2?
ext repairing fixes any file access issues u get from switching roms. Just do as it says.

K that error i remember seeing when i had the wrong spl. So it seems as though you need danger spl for his rom or you could use firerat's patches to make it work on stock spl

I would like to retain the original spl. by the break.

Flash the rom, when u get the error flash again. Dont reboot or do anything just flash again.
I just flashed on my phone with stock spl and it worked.
So its something wrong with urs.

Are you sure you are downloading it without any corruptions because it sounds like you are downloading bad files left and right??? I just re downloaded and flashed and worked fine...
You need EXT 4 for some reason but that isn't the problem when your flashing your missing files try re downloading in a new browser like Firefox or Opera
Somthing like this happened to me one time after flasing an eclair rom. I couldn't restore nandroid ("error: try running nandroid from adb" blah blah), and if i wiped and flashed it wouldn't get past splash screen. I finally flashed super d OVER an eclair rom, booted up, did sign it, went back to recovery, wiped and reflashed super d, and viola. I think my errors were like his, too.
Edit: HOWEVER! I could reflash the eclair rom and it boot up perfectly. I didn't try a different ROM. So I can't really say if another eclair would have done the same thing.
One more edit: This actually happens to me everytime i flash an eclair rom then try and go back to a donut. that's why i just stay away from them. really like them, just scared one day it wont be fixable.

HELP!!

I have been searching for hours now and although I am sure it is somewhere in the haystack I cannot find what I need. I tried to flash CM7 using 2init and clockwork mod. I got stuck on the Moto sign. I went in to wipe cache and now get errors
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't mount CAHCE:recovery/caller
ECT
My backup is now gone on my SD and the card is completely empty. What is the trick to get this thing back up and running? I have done this to tons of phones and of course the first time it is for someone else I mess it up. Thanks in advance for the help
Did you use 2init 1.7? Go to bootloader, choose normal boot, uninstall sndinit, install version 1.4 and try again.
I'm afraid that if the sd-card really is empty and the only backup was on sd-card, that backup is gone forever... Always make sure you do have a backup of the sd-card on your pc before flashing any rom.
Once I put 1.4 on should it then allow me to flash a rom? I just want to get back to stock and ill start over again. If thats the case which one should I download? just the tmo us sbf? Thanks for helping
solved
a little more digging and i figured it out and am back up and running. please close
use wipe cache from an original SBF recovery or from the lastest (and only the lastest) CM7 nightly build

frozen on Google logo, error mounting system!

My phone (GT-I9020T) was not rooted or unlocked and was running on stock 2.3.4
after some app updates, it got frozen on Google logo
I flashed a stock rom using odin and the process was successfully completed but it didn't work
I wiped all data and cache many times.
I unlocked the bootloader and flashed CWM 3.0.2.4
When trying to flash a rom from CWM (without rooting), it stops and says "E: couldn't open rom.zip (bad) installation aborted."
When I try to mount /system, it says "error mounting /system!"
and that happens to data as well
I don't wish to root the phone so it won't be easily brickable as I'm not an expert in this, but I'll try to root it if you guys say that I have to
Please help
Try to re-download the ROM package (I'd suggest the OTA for your model.) It looks like the package was not downloaded properly.
Flashing a ROM doesn't require root anyway.

I tried that. Didn't work either
any help guys?
at least, how can I format my sdcard before sending it to maintenance? when trying to format through CWM, it says it is formatted but it is not
even mounting it and formatting it through my computer didn't work

[Q] Can't flash any ROM after ICS

Hi!
I decided to try the CM9 Alpha 11 on my Nexus S. I did like it, but I wanted to stick with GB until the offical OTA comes. But the problem is, I can't flash any ROMs in CWM after installing this ICS. It just says can't open package (bad) when I try to install .zip from SD-card.
I decided to try restoring a GB ROM to see if that helped. I dis manage to restore it, but installing a rom still doesn't work. I have tried with ROM manager and straight from CWM. I have tried multiple ROMs and with multiple different CWM versions. Nothing seems to work, not even a offical OTA .zip package works.
Somebody please help!
maybe you should try odin
You need to wipe system and boot, then restore or flash a new rom.
Go to Mount in cwm, format system, data, cache, and boot, then perform your nandroid restore or whatever you want to do.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
are you downloading via wifi or 3g? are you able to open the zip files manually to make sure they're not corrupted?

Unsolved Problem

Hi,
I have a goophnoe i5c MD6575 and ive been for like 3 days trying to install a rom, any iphone a-like rom like manuxo or cafrix but i just cant! I've already rooted the phone (i think im not that good on this stuff), i alredy tried flashing even tho i have no idea whats that and it always get an error... When i try to install the rom, first of all there is no advanced and Wipe Dalvik Cache option, there is only the Wipe Cache partition and Wipe data/factory reset. If i do both and try to install the rom by going to the folder and update by clicking the zip it gives a E:Signature error. The calfix or manuxo rom gives that signature error, ive already asked ALOT of people to help me with this and no1 does... Im actually trying everything, i think i already rooted the phone cause i have SuperSU on it already, but still i have no Advanced option in the recovery screen. I dont know what else to tell you. Please guys help me i dont have anyone to turn to...
Thank you

you would have to google it i have no idea how the goophone works. it has to be for your specifically.
i've already search the CWM recovery for goophone, i saw alot of post here for it and how to install roms on this forum but none of em mention the need for CWM, its like they hope we already have it, so i cant find it... thats the only reason i wanted some help, i wanted help from the people that have already installed/made roms for goophones.
Ok i already tried to flash like 4 recovery images with mobileuncle tools and it just bricks the damn phone.... What recovery image will work so i can install a rom
Now, in the Mobileuncle tools i tried to use the Update tool and use the test update and it bricked it anyway... What might be causing this?
