Actually it also works with google play music, i think it depends on the app not dsp.

I disagree - in CM10 nightlies, up to M1 I think, it worked in ANY audio output - now it only works in the two you mentioned (I'm on 10 stable now).
Hi, did you manage to find a fix? I have the same problem with CM10.1 and CM10 with Galaxy Nexus. I tried to flash every DSP Manager flashable zip available and DSP Manager still doesn't work on any other app than Apollo!
I tried Neutron Music Player, PowerAmp, and MX Player--no effect whatsoever from DSP Manager.
I tried to uninstall Apollo via Titanium Backup and convert JetAudio as a system app, but JetAudio just crashes.

Hi all.
How does musicfx work? How do I know of it is working? Are there settings to musicfx? I have a paid for version of poweramp, does it work with musicfx? Do I even need musicfx with my power amp?
Thanks

Musicfx works only with the stock music player. Open sound effects from now playing menu. You will find equilizer, base boost, and 3d effects.
Great, Thanks for that.
Will be removing it then, since I use poweramp exclusively.

The CM default music player used to be in the play store, but has since been removed. I'm not running CM but another AOSP Rom so I don't have it installed.
I've searched all over, and maybe it's right in front of me, but could anyone direct me to were I could download it?

here you go.
Thanks
even though I paid for poweramp, I use apollo. Less battery drain and still doesn't restart an mp3 after a reboot or even booting into recovery.

I agree with apollo being a good music player. I on the other hand tend to go for lesser known apps like Music Player Remix.
I installed the Xloud+Beats+DSP manager mod but I was not satisfied with the sound quality. So I uninstalled DSP manager using root explorer but doing so also wiped the equalizer settings in google play music. I did a factory reset but no avail. I uninstalled google play music and then re-installed but still no result. I don't know what else to do now. Any help would be really appreciated.

I'm pretty sure you can find the DSP Manager apk and install it. Otherwise, how about a third-party equalizer app? I use Equalizer with Google Play Music. It's great because it automatically changes the settings according to the type of music playing.
Try out Viper4Android. Installing and uninstalling is easy as it installs as an apk. It'll auto install or uninstall the driver and after you reboot it's good to go. There are a lot of settings to play with but it's more than worth it. I have used almost every single eq on PlayStore as well as AC!D, Beats, Sony, DSP Manager, PowerAmp, WinAmp, Nozzy Player and IMO none of them comes close to what can be achieved with Viper. PM me if you like some settings to try out.

Thanks for the reply but I solved the problem by flashing the stock ROM for 4.4.2

Try seeing if music fx is disabled. Settings>apps>disabled
Hi, can someone please help me for using equalizer with the stock music app
V4A is not processing any track when am on stock music player
I really love how the stock music player looks and functionality but however it lacks an equalizer or the sound quality it deserves.
I've noticed that it works on rare occasion on some specific mp3 contents only, then the system overrides it the next track.
Its been 2 week since am trying every night to make it work but nothing..really desperate now and require some help
Im using stock Marshmallow B571 updated using TWRP recovery tool and am rooted with SUPERSU 2.68
Music app version is 7.1.41 and V4A 2.3.4.0
I won't use the stock music app because of that, and it won't access music files on my SD card either.
I use Poweramp. It's a million times better than stock.

I was using poweramp too but it doesnt support theme anymore and i dont like how it looks , the stock music player looks beautiful, simple and minimalistic in its latest version and i think it just needed to use the viper audio as engine...as far as i konow there is something to do with audio.conf....maybe delete some script there or remplacing will force it to always use Viper as sound engine
Am I missing the default music app somewhere? All I see is Google Play Music. What is everyone using? VLC? Poweramp?
So there isn't one?
I don't see any... I'm using light app Vanilla from playstore...
I'm using PowerAmp. Been using it for years.
USB Audio Player Pro last 4 phones.
It's a pretty clean phone other than Netflix. I disabled most of their stock apps. It comes with play music I think and you could use their file manager. I use Black music player and have enjoyed it for quite a bit now
Player Pro FTW. And it has an insane DSP addon
