[Q] frankestain 3.8 mod install from 3.7 - General Questions and Answers

Hi all!! I'm new in this forum.. I found it because I had lots of problems with 2.3.6 gingerbread.. so I needed to downgrade to 2.3.5.
So I flashed a full 2.3.4 then upgraded to 2.3.5 kpn, then cw root..
Then I found 3.7 frankestain mod.. everything went good...
Now I see you uploaded 3.8.. and wifi new drivers...
how to upgrade to new mod?
just copy to sdcard and install from recoverymode? or I've to go back to some old firmware?
and I guess I need a wipe before, right?
thanks

I can answer myself
I wiped to factory default and installed 3.8 from sd.
Mod is nice and fluid.
I'm testing a bit. Since this night it reeboted by itself once. I wonder if it could be caused from wifi?!
And seems I've another little bug. I've the app crash when I try to personalize tones from address book, and I cannot change from settings/tones too.
the only tones that work are the only files included in system-media.
Any hint?
However, good job!!
thanks

I used this:

That's a rooted version of the official 2.2 update, so you will still be able to get wifi tether. Just follow the steps (ASSUMING YOU HAVE AN EVO, you never did specify but it's the only phone that had a 2.2 update recently that runs CM6 AFAIK). This assumes you already have a rooted phone with NAND unlocked already.
lol read my user name over there <---<---... lol yeah like i said i have the rom finisher, its on youtube, pretty BA... and i obvously have nand unlocked sense i have a different rom on my phone, right? lol
hey i dont have the new base band, and i know i need to download the wimax and the new radio after i put the rom on my phone, but which zip file do i use for my rom the V3? thats under the MIRROR folder? or the zipped one that is before the wimax and radio zips? (its the first zipped file under his instructions)

[Q] Wiping Nexus S and installing Stock 2.3.4 ROM

All,
disclaimer: I am a n00b.
I have bought a used Nexus S a while back with the Modaco ROM and ClockworkMod. I now want to wipe it clean, and go back to the stock google ROM 2.3.4. I have looked high and low, but can't seem to find instructions on how to do that!
All i've found was high level instructions: wipe phone, boot from recovery, load new rom..
Can anyone point me to a detailed guide on how to do so?
Thanks

Well I was hoping I would get the stock rom link in the instructions, but I also found links to the rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056062
I believe you can flash stock roms from the Rom Manager app.
I'm not sure about this, but I think the stock rom might replace clockworkmod with the stock recovery when you reboot.
Also unlocking/locking the bootloader wipes everything (including the sd-card so copy everything you might want onto your computer).
You can also do it using a program called odin. Search for the thread on that.
WTF!?
I just downloaded 2.3.4 and installed it via ClockworkMod, my phone never lost any of the settings/data/apps and in the status Android Version reads 2.3.4. I'm amazed! i thought i'd have to reinstall everything, re-set everything up... what am i missing here?!
I mean not that I am complaining! this saves me a whole lotta work, but can someone explain what i'm missing?
(I didn't wipe the phone, just installed the ROM)
I got a quick quite similar question, i am on a 2.3.4, but i want to go back to my oh so awesome nscollab, is there any problems or just flash?
just flashing was okay for me, i didn't wipe so never lost any of my apps/settings. YMMV

[Q] Unable to get stable Working ROM

Hi All,
I own a Motorola Defy. I am kind of new to android developement. i had 2.2 on my phone and wanted to upgrade, followed all the steps available online for cyanogen 7.1, liquid arc, etc. with all the ROM's i had the same problem. Everything goes fine, until i reboot my phone. The moment i do that after installing new ROM. I loose network connectivity and a pop up msg comes up continously saying android.phone.com stopped responding. From there i have to do the complete wipe once again. i read in some forum about flashing radio, however i dont see this option in my recovery mode at all.
Anybody who knows how to resolve this????????
I looked this up in the forums. This applies to going from 2.1 to 2.2, but sounds like it may help you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947578
Thank you for the reply.
However, I was already running Froyo on my defy. I can also go back to that via RSD or by restoring it to the ROM i backedup before i started this testing. My concern is why i am not able to Install this custom ROM and make it working when all others can do it without any issues. I am still running Cyanogen nightly ROM (2.3.7). I also know the moment i restart my phone it will loose network connectivity and will keep getting those pop msgs. Is there a way to curb that.
Appreciate the help...
You can look for MIUI for the defy. I have also MIUI on my Defy and it works perfect
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Thanks for your reply....
I was missing the defy baseband update. Thank fully that fixed the network connectivity issue. Now i am running ICS 4.0.1 perfectly. Except the camera everything is working smooth. Had little issue with restore from Titanum backup. But an unregistered version of TB fixed it.

[q] bricked? Arhd bootloop

Hey guys, I been away from the sensation for a few months now and I think I bricked it on my first flash back! I was flashing ARHD & I followed the noob guide, I downloaded firmware & updated, deleted the firmware file, performed super wipe, flashed the rom, and I checked my md5 sums. Now I'm bootlooping the white HTC splash screen, and sometimes I see the beats audio symbol but right back to the slash screen! Ahhh.... I use this line for work. I used the 3.30 firmware as it said to & I'm on boot 1.27? I know one of you guys can help, so please ANYONE,I've got a get this fixed tonight.....
well if its booting then fortunately you're not bricked lol
have you tried re flashing the new firmware?
I flashed the 3.30 that the installation guide I was following told me to. I have ext 2.2, so is that an issue or is it the correct recovery.
Anyone who can walk me through this I'd really appreciate it guys. Just like most, I rely on my phone for work. I'm a little worried here, I've flashed quite a few times and I've never had an issue like this that I couldn't restore out of.....
Try this??
what I did was everything you did.. except I used this firmware update...
Firmware from 3.30.401.1 & 3.30.401.101 RUU
--- MD5 checksum: 824295C6ACDC8D55BED9E0B913192DBE *PG58IMG.zip ---
--- Only for 3.30.401.1 & 3.30.401.101 based ROMs
Then I installed the ICS Energy rom, and everything works great.. I've also flashed a few other roms without issues.. I haven't tried the arhd yet.. I'm currently running the virtuous AOSP rom.. and still, everything works great.. I hope this helps
Just a side note.. have you tried formatting the sdcard then trying that setup? I did have issues with my sdcard in the beginning, but after formatting, I've had no issues..Also make sure the ROM you're using is made for the correct firmware, otherwise you'll have bootloops! hope this helped!
That's the same firmware I used, and I've ran the firmware upgrade twice now. Now right after I updated the firmware the first time I did it, I rebooted on accident & it wouldn't boot even before I flashed arhd.... is this normal?
It wouldn't boot into hboot? What I did was put all the needed files on my sdcard, flashed the firmware, removed the sdcard(while the phone is powered on).. booted into the rom, then put the scdard back in and removed the firmware update..then rebooted the phone, then wiped and loaded an ICS rom..that was really about all I did.. and so far all works well.. I'm really at a loss as to what the problem on your end is.. it sounds like you've done everything you're suppose to do..
You could try to run the relevant ruu (assume you have s-off?) and start again?

Update::II flashed Virtuous and had no issues and everything is running perfect. Looks just like my transformer prime now. I doing know why at this point that my system would not play nice with ARHD, I followed the guide to the letter and I flashed the firmware 3.30 several timed just as directed. None the less, I am satisfied with this from, and my device is much smoother and more productive than the ****ty GS2 by T-Mobile that I had been using the last few months! I just can't retire my Sensation. Thank you to all who chimed in, you're a great community!
Bricked
That happened to me too when I tried to install ICS without updating the firmware
first.
I just re-booted to recovery and did a restore. I'm assuming you backed up your
ROM right?
Then at least your phone will go back to normal and you can start over...and use it for work haha
I'm good now on virtuous, but I just couldn't get ARHD to work for me. Yes I had upgraded to the proper firmware first, and I always compare md5 sums. I'm by no means an expert, but I always research, read and ask all the nessecary questions before I flash anything I'm not familiar with. I think there may just be rare occasions when some of the devices just won't play nice with certain software. Virtuous took on the first flash & I'm actually very pleased with it, so all's well that ends well. ICS is just so much more intuitive & functional for me

OLD ROM still not completely gone after reflashing back to Stock ROM (

Hello, ive just had a Custom MoonRom installed on my Galaxy s Plus (i9001) and i recovered to the stockrom, but the keyboard sound from the old CUSTOM Rom is there after i flashed it. It seems very wierd, i have formatted, reflashed, done a full reset, but nothing seems to work...
So i just want to now if there is a way to removed the old keyboard sound, or just make sure that all things from the old rom is gone.
What i did:
i download and flashed the ROM via ClockworkMod over the i9001XXKQB sofware. now i have reflashed the old XXKQB back (warranty reasons), and i have lost 3G connection and i am left with the all the sounds from the MoonRom v 4.0
I have:
- Reflashed a billion times...
- done a full reset many times
- formated data and system via ClockWorkMod
But still these sounds from MoonRom v 4.0 is still there. WHY?
I have formatted and everything. still the sounds and my 3g connection is lost thanks to this and these sounds. I am very confused.
So how do i remove these sounds from the old ROM, or make sure to completely delete the old ROM.
-Thanks guys
Please stop posting the same question all over the forums. If anyone can answer then they will. If you keep doing this then you may miss someone answering you because either you'll have so many different threads to look in, or someone (me) will report your spamming to the mods and they'll delete most of it.
Turn off keyboard sounds until you resolve the problem - settings > language and input > select settings for whatever keyboard you are using.
Ok sorry, i am just so confused about the problem...
